Sunghoon's POV 🐧❄️

The results of last week's competition came out today morning and I placed first. So, when I opened my locker, I found it loaded with congratulatory letters, gifts, and confessions.

I sighed as I tried my best to rummage through the contents and grab my coat. When I turned around, I was confronted with a girl, carrying a box of chocolates in her hands.

Oh boy...

"H-hi S-sungho-on" she said, stuttering nervously. I immediately knew where this was going. "Uh hi," I said, though it came out a lot more monotonous than I wanted. The girl stiffened slightly but carried on "I..I..um..wanted to tell you...this for a while...but..I um....like....you" she revealed between pauses.

I groaned internally. She seemed like a genuinely pleasant person who just wanted to confess, and I really hated the fact that I had to say no to her.

"Oh..uh...thank you for telling me but..um...I'm sorry to say I don't feel the same way" I replied in a low voice. It didn't sound as friendly or courteous as I desired. Despite encountering this multiple times, I still didn't know how to suitably deal with it. The girl took a few steps back before talking.

"Oh, it's okay...I expected that...but congratulations nonetheless...and here are some chocolates for you" she said quietly, giving me the box. I took it from her softly and mumbled a 'thank you' and with that, she was gone.

I let out a heavy sigh as I dragged my feet to the student council room. Why the heck can't I sound more friendly, like seriously. What is wrong with my introverted ass?

Today was also the day of our conference. I stood outside the door of the room, peering into it slightly. Geesh there are so many people! I thought there would be only like 5 or 6 of us. I was having second thoughts about going in when someone pushed me through the door.

Jungwon looked up from his desk and waved at me and Jay, who seemingly moved me. I waved back and then turned to face Jay "Nobody told me there would be so many people" I whispered to him, clutching onto his blazer.

Jay shook his head and swung an arm around my shoulder "Relax man, all of us are here with you, besides Jungwon and Heeseung are really sociable people and they are the ones chairing this meeting" he said as he guided me towards the spot where Niki and Sunoo were sitting.

"Heeseung? Who is-" but before I could ask, a tall male stood up and cleared his throat, drawing the attention of the other 20 people in the room. I sat down quickly.

"Hey guys, thanks for attending the meeting today. So uh as we all know, the school's annual fest is something that we 10, 11 and 12th graders host every year. It's the biggest event of the year and that's why we usually need to prepare for it at least 6 months in advance." the boy conveyed.

"The student council has already begun putting together ideas and themes for this year's fair since the start of the school year. As the president of the student council, I think it's safe to say that we can now begin the execution and assigning of roles for each of these plans." he resumed.

While the boy spoke, my eyes wandered towards his name tag. 'Lee Heeseung' is displayed. Oh, so this was the guy. No wonder he's President. I took in his appearance.

Wow, he's really handsome, and why does he look like complete boyfriend material...I mean hey I'm bisexual what exactly do you expect me to think when I see a really good-looking guy?

I broke out of my thoughts and tuned back into the discussion. "Last year most of the work ended up being done only by the student council, which isn't fair to anyone. So this year we'll be adding more people to the committee."

That's when my heart dropped slightly. I looked around the room. There were so many skilful and hardworking people here. Sure, I could figure skate but that's not something I can do at an annual school fest.

Jay was a hard worker with an excellent fashion sense, Sunoo was an expert at social media and marketing while Niki was head of the dance club. All three of them had their own exceptional skills that they could put forward to contribute...while I was just me.

I gulped nervously as Heeseung continued to speak. "So let's assign roles in this meeting using our team list. Jungwon, would you?"

"Yup Heeseung, so uh we have the dance team, the band, the photography and editing team, marketing and publication, props team, funding team, the academic performance group, representatives, and oh of course models," Jungwon stated as he read out the categories.

"So based on this, let's each go around and discuss who we think is best for each sector and then we can get more people in each group," he declared, finishing off.

The next 30 minutes went by with everyone going through each category and calling out who they thought was best or volunteering themselves. During this time span, Jay got into the props team, Sunoo into marketing, and Niki automatically registered his club for the dance sector. I was the only one left...

It honestly felt humiliating. It wasn't anybody's fault but I still couldn't help but feel bad.

Niki seemed to notice because, for the past couple of minutes, he had moved away from his usual position near Sunoo and now had his arm around my shoulder. I felt grateful for his comfort.

"Alright, that just leaves the modelling, photography and editing teams....anybody who you can think of for that?" one of the other council members, Yeji, asked.

"Oh Sunghoon would be perfect for modelling," Niki spoke quickly. I felt everyone's gaze shift towards me. I hit Niki's knee softly while giving everyone a small smile.

"Oh yeah, of course, I can't think of anyone better for the job," Yeji expressed, nodding approvingly. Heeseung smiled at me, "I agree as well, is that fine with you Sunghoon?" he asked me kindly.

"Oh um yeah that's fine" I said quietly. Jay and Sunoo gave me a small thumbs up. "Alright then, that's settled...oh and don't worry about the photography team, I know a guy for that" Heeseung said with a broad smile on his face.

"Alright then everyone, that's the end of this meeting. Let's meet up again tomorrow to discuss how to go about this and everyone can think about how many more people you need in your team"Jungwon said while looking around.

"Alright then everyone, that's the end of this meeting. Let's meet up again tomorrow to discuss how to go about this and everyone can think about how many more people you need in your team" Jungwon proclaimed while looking around.

"Ok then, bye guys!" Heeseung said as he exited the room. One by one, everyone left. I continued to sit down as I pondered on what had just happened.

Though I felt happy for being picked for something, a part of me still felt let down. I wanted to do something that showed I wasn't just a pretty face.

Sighing, I got up and made my way out the door.

I walked down the hallways as I resided on my thoughts. Jay had stayed back to talk to Jungwon after the meeting, and Niki and Sunoo had both gone to their respective clubs.

Usually, I would have skating practice, but my coach was sick today. I wandered into the library to bide my time while I waited for the other three to finish.

"Oh hi Sunghoon," a voice spoke from behind me. I turned around quickly to find Heeseung smiling at me. "Oh hey," I greeted quietly, putting my hands into my pockets. "What are you doing here?" he asked while he collected some papers from the librarian's desk.

"Oh uh nothing...just wasting some time," I responded awkwardly. "Ahhh, well why don't you join me...I don't really have much to do" he said gesturing towards the nearest table. Normally I would refuse, but in this case, it would be rude to turn him down, so I nodded politely.

Minutes passed as we both attempted to make awkward small talk. Just the usual icebreaker questions about how we knew each other's friends, what our favourite food was, and whether we like mint chocolate.

It was slightly awkward but I could tell he was making an effort to talk to me. I liked Heeseung hyung a lot and I looked up to him too, especially now that I knew he was also anti-mint chocolate. Just wait till I tell Sunoo.

"We really got lucky with you for the modelling team," he said as he skimmed through some papers. "Our school's official visual modelling for the festival...wow, it's already turning out to be much better than last year," he said looking up at me, beaming broadly.

The previous thoughts I had about being a model resurfaced as I attempted to smile back. "Especially with your build and your training on the ice, I'm sure you'll be able to convey the spirit and themes well."

That made me feel better, the fact that someone had put their faith and trust in me. "Thank you hyung, I'll do my best not to let you down," I stated, bowing slightly in my seat.

"Aish there's no need for that Sunghoon-ah" he said, chuckling softly. I smiled at him sheepishly. Heeseung really did make everyone feel comfortable around him.

The bell rang and that was the signal that our short conversation had come to an end. "Thank you for this hyung, I'll make sure to work diligently," I said as I packed up my things.

"No problem and by the way, tomorrow I'll make you meet the photographer you'll be working with during the preparations...or at least I'll try to. Bye Sunghoon-ah take care!" he said as he quickly left the library.

The bell rang signalling the end of the last period. Jay and I made our way out of the classroom and began walking towards the meeting room.

Both of us were in the same grade and shared most of our classes with each other. Niki, Sunoo and Jungwon were a grade below us while Heeseung was a grade above us.

We entered the room, bowing to our seniors as we took our seats. I couldn't help but feel anxious. I had given my word to Heeseung that I would do my level best, and as small of a gesture as it felt, I was determined not to let him down.

As the rest of the students sat down, a very flustered and tired Jungwon came running into the room.

"Hey guys sorry I'm late, I just found out that Heeseung won't be joining us until a little later....or may not even come...but um don't worry about that, we still have our trustworthy Vice President to help out," he proclaimed, pointing at himself and giving everyone a wide grin.

I could literally feel the whipped energy radiating from Jay, but in all fairness, Jungwon is absolutely adorable. I smiled at him softly in response.

The meeting commenced with everyone listing down their preferred team members, visions they had for each sector and more. The theme for this year's festival was "Nostalgia".

I had spent most of last night looking at modeling shoots related to vintage clothing, 90's rock and more. I listed down some of the things I had come across to Jungwon, and we had a small discussion about recruiting more models.

By the time an hour had elapsed, we had finalised on nine more recruits and had gotten Jay involved to help out with the outfits, who agreed immediately (definitely not because of Jungwon).

"It may not seem like much for an hour, but trust me this is a lot of good groundwork," Jungwon stated as he closed his laptop. "Ah thank you, I hope we can make this a success," I said as I stretched my numb arms.

"Oh um, by the way, Heeseung hyung told me I would be working with a photographer during the shoot...and he said something about meeting him yesterday," I voiced, suddenly recollecting our conversation.

Jungwon's face seemed to fall and he sighed heavily. "Oh, I'm sorry if I- no no it's nothing like that, it's just that the photographer himself is a real pain in the ass," he said, cutting me off. "Oh?" He laughed softly.

"Ah trust me, the guy is one of our closest friends and is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, but getting him to show up to a meeting or a social event is a whole other story. That's actually why hyung isn't here right now, he went to go and chase him down," he revealed while shaking his head.

"However, that doesn't mean this needs to be a complete waste of time" He rummaged into his backpack before pulling out a small black folder. I leaned closer to him as he opened it. It was a photo album.

He flipped over the pages slowly, giving me time to take in each photograph. They were beautiful. They weren't the normal sunsets and aesthetic selfies people took.

Instead, there were photos with shadow art, late-night drives and rain, people covered in graffiti, and stunning shots of what seemed to be the lips, eyes, and noses of people. Yet it didn't look creepy, they were captured in the most beautiful light and angles possible.

"Woah" I said softly as I ran my hands over each photo. Jungwon chuckled slightly making me snap out of my thoughts. "Woah indeed, like I said he's one of the most talented people you'll find, but it might be a little difficult to get him to meet you" he said as he closed the album.

"Oh, does he not like going out?" I asked curiously. "Ah no, he's actually really friendly and sweet... it's just the first meeting that is hard to set up" he responded.

I couldn't help but feel nervous. What if this guy doesn't like me? I can't afford to have an awkward first meeting with him considering how talented he is.

Jungwon seemed to read my thoughts as he said, "Don't worry, the prick is just stubborn and a little self-conscious, he's not going to be distant or cold to you when you meet him." I smiled at him and mumbled a small thank you.

"Alright then hyung, let's get going," he said. We both grabbed our bags and made our way towards the doorway.

However, I did not expect to nearly crash into a very tired and sweaty looking Heeseung hyung outside. "JUNGWON, SUNGHOON YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!' he exclaimed loudly, catching his breath. "What?" we both asked simultaneously.

"The guy agreed!!! For the first time in his stubborn ass life, he agreed!! Are you sure this is the same Jake that we know?" he said while leaning on Jungwon's shoulder. I stood there clueless to the deal behind the commotion.

"He AGREED?!?!" Jungwon asked, his eyes widening in disbelief as Heeseung frantically nodded. "THIS IS BRILLIANT" he clamoured as he shook me and Heeseung by the shoulders.

"Oh really?" I asked, completely lost. Both of them nodded happily, grinning at me. "Oh nice, so the guy's name is Jake?" I asked as I tried to comprehend what was happening.

"Yup, that's our boy...you'll be able to meet him soon...well once I manage to drag him out of his goddamn room...but I promise you will meet Sim Jake in the next five days!" Heeseung said shaking his finger aggressively.

"I second that Sunghoon hyung....you just keep working with Jay and recruit the new models. I'll make sure that idiot shows up, this is going to be a two person job hyung" Jungwon said as he cracked his knuckles.

Holy lord, whoever this guy is about to get beaten up by an angry kitten and a provoked deer.

"Ahh...hehe...alright" I said as I watched the two friends walk into the distance discussing what seemed to be straight up murder.

So his name is Sim Jake huh?

Well that was today's chapter. What did you all think?

We managed to meet Heeseung and got to know a little bit about our second protagonist Jake. In the next chapter he will finally be introduced.

I know everything seems to be moving slow, but after chapter 4 things will pick up speed, its just the original establishment that takes time.

Let me know if there any errors in the text so I can correct them and feel free to give me your feedback!

Also, did y'all see the blessed-cursed teaser? I'm screaming rn.
