I woke up with a ringing in my head. My clothes were spread across the floor. All the blurry images of last night were coming together as I quickly put on some pajamas. Last night, I had sex with Luke Hemmings. I never thought I'd even hang out with him let alone have sex with him. But it probably only happened because we were both absolutely hammered and needed a fuck. I turned around to get back into bed and noticed that Luke wasn't there. His clothes weren't on the floor, either. "Luke?" I asked out loud. There was no response.

I walked downstairs and heard the TV in the living room. I hoped Luke would be sitting there on the couch and luckily he was. He turned his head to the stairs as the last step creaked when I stepped on it. "Mornin', Nick." Luke smiled and returned his focus back to the TV. His voice was deep and raspy from waking up recently. He had the bottle of vodka from last night in his hand with the cap off.

"I thought we finished that last night." I said pointing to the bottle as I sat down next to him.

Luke shook his head. "Nah, I'm finishing it up now. Want some?" He turned to me and asked.

"Seriously, Luke, its too early for that." I sighed and took the bottle from his grip to put it in the kitchen. I heard Luke get up after and follow me.

"Hey, come on." Luke whined as I dumped the rest of the vodka into the sink.

"You can't have it Luke, I'm sorry but its for your own good." I said while I placed the empty bottle on the counter. "We're already late for school so we might as well go late than miss another day."

"I don't wanna go." Luke groaned and hugged a pillow on the couch. "Its not like we can go any way."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well you have hickies all over your neck. I have them all over my neck, too, and claw marks on my back." Luke explained with a little smirk and his arms crossed. I couldn't help but blush with guilt when he mentioned the scratches on his back.

"Whoops." I shrugged. Luke looked down to his feet and giggled softly.

"So can we please skip again? Let's just have fun." Luke begged. He was like a little kid begging his mom for a new toy and it was honestly pretty amusing.

I just sighed and looked at Luke. "The roof?"

"The roof."

Luke and I started walking to his apartment but stopped at the gas station down the street. "Why are we going here?" I asked confused.

"Nick do you know how long it's been since I had a cigarette?" Luke turned and asked me with his eyebrows raised. I just shook my head in response. "Too long." He laughed and turned to walk into the store. I needed one too, to be honest.

"Are we just getting cigarettes?" I asked as I looked around the small store. I was starving so all I could focus on was the bag of mini donuts on the shelf staring back at me.

"Why, you want something?" Luke asked from across the store. He walked over to where I was standing with his hands in his pockets. "You want the donuts?" He smiled and picked up the bag to look at the price.

"Please?" I whined and looked up at Luke. He looked back down at me and smiled at the sight of me begging. "I'll pay."

"I don't have money so you were gonna pay for it anyway." Luke laughed. I slapped his arm playfully for making me pay even though I really didn't have a problem with it. We went to the front of the store to get two packs of cigarettes and the donuts. I paid for them and we headed to Luke's apartment building.

"Can I just stop at my apartment real quick?" Luke asked as we got in the elevator.

"Yeah, sure. Why?" I asked. Luke pressed the button for floor 14 and leaned against the wall of the elevator.

"I just gotta grab something. You don't have to come in." He insisted. It seemed like he almost didn't want me to come in.

"Okay." I nodded. We got to Luke's floor and went down the hall to his apartment.

"I'll be out in like two minutes." Luke said while he unlocked his door and opened it quietly. I just sat down against the hallway wall and waited for Luke to come out. About five minutes passed and I was starting to get concerned about why Luke was taking so long. It wasn't until I heard something smash against the floor that I got up to go in. Before I could open the door, Luke came out and shut the door behind him quickly. "Hey. Y-you ready to go up?" Luke stuttered.

"Um, yeah." I answered quietly. Luke seemed uneasy and distracted. I don't want to ask what happened but I do want to know. "What'd you need to get? You took a little bit." I forced a laugh to make it seem like I didn't suspect anything was wrong.

"I just got us some drinks." Luke said and kept his focus on the stairs as we went up to the roof. "Ladies first." Luke giggled as he opened the door to the roof for me. I walked through and the cold air hit me instantly. Luke followed behind me as we walked to the couch.

"Soon we won't be able to come up here, ya know." I said covering my mouth full of donut. Luke just looked at me confused so I put my finger up to make him wait for me to explain until I finished eating. "Because its almost December." Luke just nodded since he now understood.

"We'll have to find a new place to hang out, I guess." Luke smiled. His eyes looked red and sore but still beautifully blue and lovely. He had a little scruff on his face that he would occasionally scratch as he looked out at the city. It was so peaceful with Luke, nothing mattered. I constantly wondered what he was thinking. What is his care-free, party animal, 'zero-fucks-given' exterior hiding from the world.

"Luke." I said quietly. He looked at me and waited for me to finish. I was going to ask what happened back at his apartment but I got scared. It was really none of my business but no one reacts the way about just nothing. "You said you got drinks?"

"I thought it was 'too early'" He mimicked me and giggled as he reached for the bottle on the other side of him. "Jack Daniel's?" He asked as he held it out for me.

"Don't mind if I do." I grabbed the bottle from Luke's hand and held it in my own. "Wanna play a game of drunken 20 questions?" I smirked at Luke. He just sat and thought about it before nodding and taking the bottle back to take a sip.

I took very few sips of the whiskey to stay at least somewhat sober. Meanwhile Luke was having the time of his life getting hammered. A lit cigarette hung between his teeth with tiny puffs of smoke escaping through the sides of his mouth. "Luke, I have a question."

"Shoot." He smiled and turned his body to face me.

"What took you so long back when we were at your apartment? I heard a smash and you came out kinda shaken up." I asked nervously. I was hoping he'd answer honestly without thinking because of his state of drunkenness. Luke didn't say anything. He took another sip of the whiskey and spilled a little on his shirt.

"I spilled." He giggled looking down at his shirt.

"Luke." I groaned and went to grab his arm but he pulled away quickly.

"What, Nick?"

"You never answered my question." I explained to him. "What happened?"

"Nothing." Luke groaned. I looked at him with a look that said I knew he was lying. "I knocked over a plant and the pot smashed."

"You weren't acting like it was just a plant. You looked scared and nervous and completely out of it." I sighed. There's definitely something he's hiding from me.

"I don't wanna answer." Luke exhaled loudly. "I have a question." He shot up and began to ask before I interrupted.

"Luke." I groaned again. I will do anything to get an honest answer from him.

"I don't want to answer." Luke yelled and stood up from the couch. He smashed the bottle on the ground leaving a puddle of whiskey and glass. I sat on the couch just looking at him, stunned. He turned to look at the buildings and sniffled loudly like he was trying not to cry. He wiped his sleeve across his eyes and pulled it back down to cover his hand after.

"Luke, I care about you, okay?" I said quietly. Luke said nothing and continued to look out over the building. I decided to just get up and leave. As I walked to the door I stopped and turned back to Luke. "You'll have to let me in at some point. See you at school tomorrow." I said before entering the stair case and making my way to the lobby.
