Lena arrives back at the DEO after having spoken to Lillian for a while. Lena found the whole process to be rather weird. The CEO honestly didn't know what to expect in regards to how Lillian would react to the news of Lex's death. Lena thought that maybe her mother would jump to the reaction of blaming his death on Supergirl or Superman somehow, but she didn't. Instead, Lillian was just quiet, but she didn't shed a tear or anything, she just remained silent, and that is how the mother and daughter stayed for a while. Eventually, Lena decided to leave, and the only thing that Lillian said to her was 'thank you', and that rather chilled Lena to the bone.
"How was it?" Kara asks Lena, as she takes her girlfriend in for a hug.
"Weird." Lena replies, hugging Kara back, "She was just silent. She didn't cry, or yell, or blame you and Superman. She just.... said nothing."
Kara nods her head into the hug, not really sure what to say after hearing that.
"We.... all process these things in our own ways. I'm sure Lillian is processing this is her own way too." Kara eventually says.
"Yeah..." Lena nods back, although still very weirded out by Lillian's reaction.
The two girlfriends continue to hug for the next few minutes, Lena just really needing the affection from Kara right now, almost as if it's recharging her. But eventually, the two separate from their hug.
"How's Kal?" Lena asks.
Kara looks at Lena, and bites her lip.
"Not good." Kara replies.
"Why? Is he still unconscious?" Lena asks.
"No." Kara replies, "He woke up while you were gone, but he doesn't remember anything about who he is, or what happened to him. But that's not even the most concerning thing about it all."
"Then what is?" Lena asks, confused.
"Alex has run some tests on him, and..... he doesn't have his powers anymore.... and I don't mean in a way that he blew out his powers from extreme use.... like we do from time to time.... His DNA.... while still coming back as alien.... is reacting exactly like a human's..... That doesn't happen when our powers are blown out." Kara explains.
"So.... you are saying his powers might be gone forever?" Lena asks.
"Yes." Kara nods, sadly, "Alex thinks that such an extreme kryptonite exposure may have eliminated all of Kal's powers, to basically make him human. So maybe Lex did kill Superman after all."
Lena's face flinches a little upon Kara saying that.
"I'm sorry.... I didn't mean to...." Kara quickly says.
"It's okay." Lena interrupts, "I was just annoyed that maybe my brother did finally succeed, in a small way, even if it wasn't the way he wanted to."
Kara nods her head.
"Anyway, I was waiting for you to come back, because I'm about to fly to Metropolis to bring Lois here, so she can see Kal." Kara says.
"Oh, okay." Lena nods.
Kara pulls Lena in for another hug again, feeling like her girlfriend needs it.
"I promise, this will all be over soon, and then we can go on our holiday, and spend hours running about amusement parks, with a bunch of kids, just to please our daughter in the 'happiest place on Earth'" Kara says, with a touch of sarcasm in her voice.
Lena can't help but laugh. Kara always knows how to cheer her up.
"Disney World is certainly not my idea of the happiest place on Earth." Lena says, as the two of them part from their hug.
"What is?" Kara asks, "A beach in Hawaii?"
"No." Lena replies, shaking her head, "With my head between your legs."
"LENA!" Kara says, shocked.
Lena starts really laughing.
Kara lets out a flustered huff.
"You can't say things like that when we are in public places!" Kara says, now really starting to blush.
"Oh, but where would the fun in that be?" Lena smirks, moving closer to Kara, and then taking her in for another kiss.
Kara hums happily into the kiss, so very much in love with her beautiful and amazing girlfriend.
"Okay.... okay...." Kara says, a few seconds later, backing away from the kiss, being a bit breathless now, "I really do need to go and get Lois. It's not fair to keep her waiting any longer."
"Of course, darling." Lena nods, with a smile, "While you are gone, I'll check in with Alex, and see if there is anything I can do to help, and then I'll have a look at the device you brought back, which Lex used on you and Clark."
Kara nods her head.
"Thank you, Lena. I really appreciate you doing this, even though Clark has been an absolute asshole towards you." Kara says.
"Of course, darling. It is the right thing to do, despite his obnoxious and rude actions against me." Lena replies.
Kara nods her head again, not really having much else to say to that, because she thinks calling Clark's actions towards Lena 'obnoxious and rude', is a drastic understatement.
"Okay. I'll be back in a bit." Kara says.
"Bye." Lena smiles.
Kara then takes off out of the DEO, and heads towards Metropolis.
Once Kara is gone, Lena walks further into the DEO, heading for the medical bay, where she knows Alex will still be with Superman. About a minute later, Lena enters the medical bay, and right away she can tell that Alex is overwhelmed, and a bit lost. Alex is pacing about the room, looking at some readings on a tablet, with a very frustrated look on her face. Meanwhile, Clark is just lying in his bed, looking around the room, taking everything in, with a bit of a confused look on his face.
"Alex?" Lena says, softly.
Alex jerks up, and looks in Lena's direction, as if Lena saying her name surprised her, even though Lena said it very softly.
"Lena.... I.... I'm sorry....." Alex says, regathering herself, "I've just been... trying to focus on all this..... I..... I'm a bit lost to be honest."
Lena nods her head, and then sees that Alex has a bit of a desperate look on her face. Lena responds by quickly taking Alex in for a hug, knowing that the redhead likely needs it right now. Alex freezes for a few seconds once Lena begins hugging her, but then quickly hugs the brunette back.
"It's going to be okay Alex." Lena says, "I'm here to help you, however you need me to. You don't have to try and figure this all out on your own."
Alex nods her head.
"Thank you, Lena." Alex says, softly, still hugging the Luthor.
"You don't have to thank me. We are going to be sisters one day, remember?" Lena says, with a smirk.
Alex lets out a chuckle after hearing that.
"Even if you were my sister, I'd still thank you." Alex replies, her voice sounding a bit happier now.
A few moments later, the two women part from their hug, and look at one another with small smiles on their faces.
"This is silly. I should be the one offering to comfort you, not the other way around. Your brother literally just died!" Alex says, with a frustrated groan.
"Just because certain things have been going on in my life, and with my family, doesn't take away from any frustrations you may feel with all the other stuff that is going on. You don't have to pretend to be okay, just because you think I have it worse or anything." Lena says.
Alex looks at Lena for a few seconds, and then shakes her head.
"Kara is really lucky to have you, and I'm really lucky to have you as a friend too. I can't believe how stupid I was originally, when I didn't trust you to help with Alura." Alex says.
Lena smiles upon hearing that.
"The feeling is mutual Alex." Lena smiles, "I know we haven't ever really got much time to spend together, just us, but you've been a better family member to me than all of my previous family members. At least the ones I can remember."
Alex takes Lena in for a hug after the brunette says that, much to Lena's surprise.
"Ohfff.." Lena says, surprised.
Alex chuckles.
"Sorry.... I didn't know what to say in response to that." Alex says, with a smile on her face.
Lena smiles back, and hugs Alex too.
"But, maybe once this is all over, and you, Kara and Alura have been on your holiday, we could hang out together, just the two of us. If you are going to be my sister one day, I think it's about time we had some one-on-one bonding." Alex suggests, as they back away from their hug.
"Okay." Lena nods, with a smile, "I'd like that. As long as we don't do anything DEO agent Alex Danvers would do, like go for a run, or a massive hike, or a sparring session or anything."
Alex chuckles upon hearing that.
"No, we won't do anything like that. I actually have something already in mind, that I think we'll both enjoy." Alex says, "But on a side note, I do intend to give you some combat training at some point. You should at least know some basics as to how to protect yourself."
Lena groans upon Alex suggesting that, even though she knows she is right.
"Fine. But as long as I get to teach you fencing as well." Lena replies.
Alex nods her head.
"You've got yourself a deal, Luthor." Alex says, holding out her hand.
Lena looks at Alex's hand and then shakes it.
"Okay...." Lena eventually says, "So tell me everything that we have here, and what's going on?"
"Right." Alex nods her head, "So we have two problems at the moment, and I'm not sure how much Kara filled you in on?"
"She told me that Clark is awake, still doesn't have his memories, but it also looks like he's basically human, and hasn't simply just blown out his powers." Lena replies.
"Yes, that's the gist of it." Alex says, "Part of me is wondering if this is kind of a two-pronged problem."
"What do you mean?" Lena asks.
"Well, we know that with Kryptonian's powers, obviously it is hard for them to get hurt, but when they do, they also heal a lot quicker than humans, especially under yellow sun rays." Alex says.
"Right." Lena nods.
"Well, whatever Lex did to Clark's brain, and Kara's previously, is essentially like a brain injury, a bit like amnesia. So, I'm thinking that maybe if Clark doesn't have his powers, it is also preventing his brain from healing and therefore him recovering his memories." Alex explains.
"Okay..." Lena nods, "But I'm guessing it's not just as simple as sticking him under some yellow sun rays?"
"No." Alex replies, "As firstly, that is only a theory, and I could be completely wrong about it. These two problems might not be related at all. Or it could be the complete other way around, with his brain problems causing him to not have his powers. But either way, his cells are currently acting like a humans, so even if I were to put him under yellow sun lamps, I'd risk actually harming him, as they are not made for human exposure, which is what he essentially is right now."
"Okay....." Lena nods, now understanding why Alex is so frustrated with the current situation.
"But I have been drawing blood and everything, to see if I can find any trace of cells that act like a Kryptonians, but so far, nothing." Alex explains.
"Hmmm...." Lena hums, with a thoughtful look on her face, as she looks over at Clark, "Well.... maybe it's a bit like a diesel car that's run out of fuel?"
"What do you mean?" Alex asks, confused.
"Well.... excuse the metaphor..... but when a diesel vehicle runs out of fuel, you can't just put more diesel in and expect it to run, you have to completely purge the engine of any air that has been sucked in, before it can work again. So, in this case, Clark's exposure to kryptonite has basically caused his body to run out of his kryptonian powers, to levels beyond just him blowing out his powers, like Kara and him have previously. So perhaps to give him his powers back, we need to purge his body of the damaged cells that were exposed to the kryptonite?"
Alex now looks at Lena even more confused.
"I.... what are you saying Lena?" Alex asks, very confused, "I don't get what you mean by purging all his cells that were exposed to kryptonite? Basically, that would mean every cell in his body would need purging, which would be impossible."
"Yes." Lena nods, "It takes a human, at least, 7 to 10 years for every cell in their body to be replace, and I'm assuming it's a similar time frame for a Kryptonian. So of course, we couldn't purge every cell in Clark's body that has been exposed to kryptonite. But maybe we can give his body a jump start, that then hopefully allows his body to be healed enough to do the rest of the healing on its own."
Alex's eyes go wide after Lena says that, now finally realising what the CEO is getting at.
"You mean by giving him a blood transfer?" Alex asks.
"Yes." Lena nods, "I know you have multiple pints of Kara's blood stored in the DEO. So, we could give Superman some of them, while also withdrawing the same amount of blood we put it. That way we would virtually be replacing the kryptonite exposed blood with Kara's 'healthy' Kryptonian blood. It obviously isn't perfect, or an exact science, but it's really the best option we've got."
"Okay." Alex nods, "I guess it's our best shot."
"Yeah." Lena agrees, "And while you are doing that, I'm going to have a look at the device which Lex used on Clark and Kara, to see if I can figure anything out that might be able to restore Clark's memories that way."
"Alright, that sounds good." Alex agrees.
Lena and Alex are then interrupted by Kara flying into the medical bay with Lois Lane in her arms.
"Clark!" Lois says, running to Clark's bedside, and then taking him in for a hug.
"Uhhh.... hello?" Clark says, confused, "Who are you?"
Lena, Kara and Alex all feel awful upon hearing Clark say that. They all know that if their partners didn't recognise them, that it would kill them inside. In fact, Lena has personal experience with just that happening.
"Clark.... It's me.... Lois...." Lois says, with some tears in her eyes now.
Clark looks at Lois with a confused look on his face.
"I..... I'm sorry..... I don't remember you......" Clark replies, after a few moments of silence.
Lois lets out a croak after Clark says that, and Kara quickly takes Lois in for a hug. Kara and Lois continue to hug for the next few minutes, before Alex then approaches them.
"We should talk outside." Alex suggests.
"O...okay..." Lois replies.
Kara leads Lois outside of the medical bay, where Alex and Lena then join them.
"Alex... please tell me something good..... That you have a plan or something..." Lois says, in an almost begging voice, "Kara already told me what Clark's condition is..... but I guess it didn't sink in until he didn't recognise me."
Alex gives Lois a sympathetic look after hearing that.
"Well.... while Kara was out getting you.... Lena and I talked.... and we had an idea..... So, Clark's body is essentially human right now, and we can't be sure if the memory issues are linked to his lack of powers, or if his lack of powers is preventing his memory from getting better. But Lena and I think that if we give Clark a blood transfusion, of a few litres of Kara's blood, while also taking the same amount of blood out of Clark, then maybe that will help kick start his powers at the very least, to then do the rest of the healing on his own." Alex explains.
"Okay..." Lois says, sound a bit unsure.
"Then while Alex and Kara are doing that, I'm going to have a look at the memory device thing that Lex used on Kara, and now Clark, to see if I can reverse the effects." Lena adds.
Lois looks to Lena now, with a soft look on her face.
"Th.... thank you Lena...." Lois says, "I know this must not be easy for you..... with how Clark has treated you..... and with what has happened to your brother today...... But..... I really appreciate this..... and I want you to know that I don't think you are like Lex, and I never have. I just wish Clark could see that."
"I uhh.... thank you..." Lena nods, really not expecting Lois to say that.
"Okay...." Kara says, after a few moments of silence, "I guess we all have some things to do."
"Yes... right..." Lena nods.
Kara turns to look at her sister.
"So do you need me to give you some of my blood now..... or what?" Kara asks.
"Uhh.... I'm not sure yet." Alex replies, "So humans have about 10 pints of blood in their body, so I assume kryptonian males do as well, or close enough to that. At the DEO we have about 6 pints of your blood, Kara, but I'm not too sure on how many would be safe to give to Clark. So, we may not need you to give any of your blood to Clark. Although it might be best if you donate at least a pint so we can sure up our reserves."
"Of course." Kara nods, "Do you have reserves of Alura's blood, by the way?"
"Uhh... no." Alex replies, "But that is probably something we should do on a later date."
"I actually have some.... of what would essentially be compatible blood for Alura." Lena says, "I ran the left overs of Kara's blood through the combining machine Winn and I made, with my blood, to make more of the blood Alura would need. It's currently stored in my high secure vault."
Kara turns to Lena with a smile on her face, feeling incredible that her girlfriend has done that in case their daughter needs more blood.
"Okay.... well.... that's good.... we can talk more about how much you have later." Alex says.
"Right." Lena nods back.
After that, everyone gets to work with their tasks at hand. For the first 15 minutes Lena helps Alex set up the machine they are going to use to put blood into Clark, while also taking an equal amount out. Lena and Alex knew they had to be very careful when doing this, because they couldn't afford for the machine to screw up, and take more blood out than it will be putting in, or vice versa. However, eventually, Alex and Lena were happy that the machine was set up correctly, and they began the blood transfer, while Clark remained lying on the bed.
Once Lena had finished helping Alex, she went away to another room, by herself, to have a look over at the device which Lex used on Superman to remove his memories. As Lena studied the device, she could see that Lex used her alien detection device, and interacted it with some alien technology, which is likely the alien device the shadow woman stole from the DEO a few months ago.
At first Lena really couldn't understand how the device worked, and was utterly lost, getting frustrated as she came to several dead ends. However, Lena continued to study the device, knowing that if Lex designed it, then she could figure it out, because she is.... was, smarter than him after all. Thanks to this determination from Lena, the brunette was eventually able to not only figure out the device, but recalibrate it in a way that she hopes will reverse whatever effects it had on Clark.
"I think I've got something." Lena says, as she walks back into the medical bay.
Alex, Kara and Lois turn to look at Lena, with Clark still laying on the bed, and the machine still putting blood into his body, and removing blood too.
"What do you have?" Alex asks.
"So, I've looked at the device Lex used on Kara and Clark, and I believe I have been able to figure it out, and hopefully adjust it to now reverse the effects." Lena explains.
"That's great Lena!" Kara smiles, proudly.
Lena nods her head, and then turns to Lois.
"The only problem, is there is no way to test this, and I can't be 100% sure this will work or not. In fact, it might make things worse." Lena explains, "So.... it's up to you if we use it, Lois."
Lois looks at Lena, with a nervous look on her face, but she then sees Kara's face, and notices that the blonde is so confident in her girlfriend. That look from Kara gives Lois confidence that Lena will have gotten this right.
"Do it." Lois says.
"Okay." Lena replies.
Lena walks over to Clark's bedside.
"Clark?" Lena says, softly.
"Yes?" Clark replies, looking at Lena.
"This device here will hopefully restore your memories." Lena explains, "I'm going to hand it to you, and to start it there is a button on the side. Once you activate it, it should begin flashing. You will then be able to press the same button again to deactivate the device."
"O...kay..." Clark replies, unsure.
"But before you activate the device, you need to make sure that everyone else is out of the room." Lena explains, "As this could affect us too. So, once you are finished, call out to us."
"Okay.... I've got it." Clark says.
Lena carefully hands Clark the device, and then she, Kara and Alex leave the room. Lois hesitates at the doorway.
"Good luck, Clark." Lois says, and then leaves.
Clark activates the device, and the flashing begins.
Lena, Kara, Alex and Lois then all wait nervously outside the medical bay, hoping this works, for Lois' sake.
"You can come back in!" Clark calls out, about a minute later.
Lois rushes in first, followed by Kara, Lena and then Alex.
"Did it work?" Kara asks.
Lois moves to Clark's bedside, and the kryptonian then turns to look at Lois, and smiles lovingly at her.
"Yeah, it did." Clark nods, smiling at Lois.
After that, over the next few hours, Alex and Lena continued to assist with the blood transfer, while Lois thanked Lena very much. Eventually, after Clark had 5 pints of Kara's blood transferred into him, tests on his cells began to show a kryptonian element to them again, but he still didn't have his powers back.
"I don't get it." Alex says, frustrated, "You should have some of your powers now."
"It's possibly because while we have given Clark's system a kick start, it will take time for his body to fully be healed. After all, like I said earlier, it takes 7 – 10 years for human's cells to completely replace themselves." Lena explains.
"So, are you saying that Clark might not get his powers back for years?" Lois asks.
"Yes." Lena nods, "Or they may come back, but be diminished from what they were previously. What Clark went through..... he honestly shouldn't be alive right now."
Lois nods her head after hearing that.
A few minutes after that discussion, Alex makes some final assessments on Clark, and ultimately decides that he and Lois can leave. Clark and Lois then prepare to leave the DEO, with Kara planning to fly them home, with Lois going first.
Kara flies Lois to Metropolis first, and this leaves Lena and Clark standing on the DEO balcony by themselves, a situation which Lena isn't too thrilled about.
"Thank you for what you did for me today, and have done for Kara, and Alura." Clark eventually says, after several moments of silence.
Lena looks at Clark, surprised, certainly not expecting that.
"Of course." Lena nods her head.
"And I am sorry about what happened to your brother. Even he didn't deserve to be murdered." Clark says.
Lena hums.
"I'm not so sure about that." Lena replies.
Clark nods his head.
"And I need to apologise for my actions. I let my history with Lex color my view of you. But I see now how much you love Kara, and Alura, and how much Kara and Alura love you. I know it must have been trying to help me today, after everything I've done. So, thank you again. And I want to say I approve of you and Kara." Clark says.
Lena knows this must have taken a big hit to Clark's pride to admit this, but she's not going to let him off that easily. So, Lena turns to look at Clark with a smirk on her face.
"Thank you, but I don't need your approval, I never have. The only person's approval I care about is Kara's. She and I are the ones in this relationship, not anyone else." Lena says, firmly.
Clark can't help but smirk back at Lena.
"Fair enough." Clark nods.
Thankfully, a few seconds later, Kara lands back at the DEO, and then flies off with Clark, putting Lena a lot more at ease.

It is now late in the evening, and Kara and Lena have just returned to their penthouse to relieve Sam of having to look after Alura, like she has been for these last 2 days.
"Thank you for watching Alura these last few days Sam." Lena says, as she hugs her best friend.
"You're welcome, Lena." Sam replies, hugging Lena back, "You know I would do it any time. Plus, Ruby absolutely loves spending time with Alura, and being here. They basically spent all of today in your swimming pool."
Lena chuckles.
"Well, Ruby is welcome to come over whenever she likes." Lena smiles, as the two part from their hug.
"Oh, you are gonna regret saying that." Sam smirks.
Lena chuckles again.
While Sam and Lena have been hugging, Kara has been with Ruby and Alura, as the two kids say goodbye to each other, before Kara then gives Ruby a hug too.
"Bye Sam." Kara smiles, hugging Sam, a few moments later.
"Bye, Kara. I'm glad that it looks like things will get better with your cousin." Sam says.
"Yeah." Kara nods.
Kara and Sam then part from their hug, while Lena and Ruby part from theirs too.
"Okay, Rubes, let's go." Sam says.
Ruby turns to Sam and smiles.
"Bye guys." Sam says.
"Byee!!!" Alura waves.
"Bye Kara, Lena, Alura." Ruby smiles.
Ruby and Sam then walk out of Kara and Lena's penthouse, and Kara, Lena and Alura then watch as Sam and Ruby wall down the hallway and get into the elevator, waving as they do. The elevator doors then close, and Kara, Lena and Alura head back into their penthouse.
"Okay, Alura. I think it's time for bed." Lena says.
"Can I sleep with you both again?" Alura asks.
"Not tonight, Alura." Kara quickly replies, wanting to have some fun times with Lena this evening.
"Awww..." Alura pouts.
Lena crouches down to her daughter's height, and places a kiss on her cheek.
"Don't be upset darling. You can sleep with mommy and I whenever you like when we go on holiday tomorrow." Lena says.
Alura's eyes go wide.
"We are going on holiday tomorrow?!" Alura says, excitedly.
"Yep." Lena nods.
"YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!" Alura says, jumping up and down.

Lena and Kara walk into their bedroom, shutting the door behind them, after both having just put Alura to sleep, giving her some goodnight kisses, which was a trying task after how excited Alura got.
"Well.... these past few days have been...... eventful..." Lena says, with a sigh.
Kara chuckles.
"That is putting it mildly." Kara replies.
"I think I need a shower." Lena says, with a small smile on her face.
"Oh..." Kara says, sounding a bit disappointed, hoping that she and Lena would be doing something else.
Lena walks inside the bathroom. A few moments later, Lena pokes her head out of the bathroom, back into the bedroom.
"You'll be joining me, correct?" Lena asks, with a smirk.
Kara's eyes go wide, but then she quickly uses her powers to speed over to Lena, taking her in for a passionate kiss.
Over the next hour and a half, Lena and Kara make love to each other in all sorts of different ways. At first Lena and Kara enjoy themselves by having sex in the shower, and elicitation several moans from one another, making it a sort of game to see who could make the other moan the loudest. Then, once they were finished with their shower, and cleaning each other's bodies, which only served to turn them on even more, they went back to the bedroom, where they quickly were rolling on top of each other, kissing passionate. Lena and Kara then began to have sex in their bed, their bodies grinding against one another, sweat dripping off of Lena's body onto Kara, heart rates racing, loud moans coming from each of the women's mouths. It was truly magical and incredible, for both Kara and Lena. It was exactly what both of them needed to destress themselves from all the craziness of the last few days.
Presently, Kara and Lena are lying next to each other in bed, catching their breath, both pretty tired right now.
"So....... I guess we are going to Disney World tomorrow?" Kara says.
Lena turns to Kara and smiles.
"Yeah, I guess we are." Lena replies.
"You know..... we only had 2, maybe 3, days knocked off of our vacation, we could still make your beach holiday?" Kara says, with a small smirk.
Lena smiles at Kara, and then takes her in for a kiss.
"No. I think we should spend a week at Disney World, and then come back here and have some fun ourselves. Hopefully Alura will want to stay over at Sam's and tell Ruby all about Disney World, so we can have some more alone time." Lena says, basically purring.
Kara bites her lip, being very turned on by Lena's suggestion.
"That sounds much better than a beach." Kara says, eagerly.
Lena chuckles.
"But this time, for our holiday, no phone calls, emails, or anything. Unless it is the literal end of the world, I don't want to hear about it." Kara says.
Lena smiles at Kara.
"Agreed. In fact, I'm not going to even look at my emails while we are there. I would just leave my phone here, but it's probably for the best I have it on me, in case we get separated in those crazy parks." Lena says.
"You know if we did, I would come find you." Kara says, moving closer to Lena.
Lena chuckles.
"Yes, but I couldn't do the same if things are reversed. Plus, it's not like you could use your powers in those parks, as you'd be easily seen." Lena replies.
"Hmm... you make a valid point." Kara nods, and then takes Lena in for a passionate kiss.
