ᗯOOᗪY ᑭOᐯ

All morning since the cleaner man came and fixed me up had been snapping pictures on his polaroid camera of my roundup gang and I.

I had photos with hats, spoons, mini guitars, radios, the yo-yo and with the roundup gang.

He chuckles, looking at all the photos he has taken "it's like printing my own money!"

He phone lets out a loud ring from his pocket and he is disturbed by its sudden interruption to his money moment. "Yeah what?" He asks rudely.

A voice on the other side of the line is heard saying his name "Al Mcwiggin"

He instantly changes his attitude towards the caller and laughs nervously, making his way out the door "oh, Mr Konishi. Yes uh, I- I have the pictures right here. In fact I'm in the car right now, on my way to the office to fax them to you. I'm goin' through a tunnel, I'm breakin' up!"

He shuts the door behind himself and we all instantly unfreeze.

And I can't believe it my arm is better than ever! It's strong and looks seamless, it's a miracle!

I hop of bullseye and start gushing over myself and fixed arm "Oh, wow, will you look at me, it's like I'm fresh out of the box!"

I have never felt better, and people have just gotta know that. I lunge at the Prospector and I point at my fixed shoulder "LOOK AT THIS STITCHING!"

I flex my biceps moving my wrists position to test out the new stitching "Andy's gonna have a hard time rippin' this"

Chuffed I glide over to Jessie who's looking grumpy as wave at her enthusiastically with my fixed arm "helloo, hi!, hellooo"

She finally snaps "great now you can go" and she jumps off the coffee table holding herself tightly.

She heads towards the window that I looked out of when I first arrived here.

I sass back quietly, I don't want to poke the bear but I also down want to be the one who didn't poke the bear. "Well what a good idea"

I move across the coffee table towards the vent. I can finally leave, there's nothing holding me back now my arm is fixed.

'Why am I hesitant?'

My thoughts end with a nudge to my back. Turning around there's Bullseye looking blue, I know he doesn't want me to go, I don't want to leave him.

As me and him look at each other sorrowful Stinky Pete speaks up "Woody, don't be mad at Jessie. She's been through more than you know. Why not make amends before you leave, huh? It's the least you can do."

I look back at Jessie, she's hugging her knees looking out the window on the sill.

I look back at Bullseye and he's still got his puppy eyes going.

I let out a big sigh, he's right, I don't know how much this is going to do or help but here I go. "All right, but I don't know what good it'll do."

I make my way over to Jessie using the chair that looks like it belongs in a doctors office. I lean against the arm of it as I begin a conversation with her.

ᒍEᔕᔕIE ᑭOᐯ

And now, it's going to be years until I see the outside world again. How long was it last time? Like 3 or 4 years? I don't know, why do I bother counting.

Why, why did Woody have to have an owner? Why did the fates have to give me so much hope for them to be crush right back down again.

I just want to have a purpose, whether it be for one kid, or a group in a school or millions that pass by in a museum everyday.

I'm not mad at him, I'm mad at the fact that he has everything that I've ever wanted, a kid who loves their toy. Who misses them when they go missing.

I've had that but it ended what feels like so fast. I just want it back, I miss it so much, I was so happy.

You never know how much something means to you until you can't have it anymore.

"Hey, whatcha doin' way up here?"

Ugh, how's he gonna bug me now. "I thought I'd get one last look at the sun before I get packed away again."

I don't dare look at him.

Woody starts to go on this apology rant but he doesn't get what grinds my gears, he's got it wrong. "Look, Jessie, I know you hate me for leaving, but I have to go back. I'm still Andy's toy. Well, if you knew him, you'd understand. You see, Andy's a real-"

I have to stop him in his tracks "Let me guess, Andy's a real special kid.. and to him you're his buddy, his best friend.. and when Andy plays with you it's like... even though you're not moving.. you feel like you're alive.. because that's how he sees you."

I hunch over, my head almost buried in my knees.

Woody seems surprised with my answer. "How did you know that!?"

I finally look over to Woody "Because Emily was just the same. She was my whole world."

When somebody loved me

'I remember her cowgirl filled yellow filled room.'

Everything was beautiful

'The way she would get home from school and spend ever last minute of the day with me.'

Every hour spent together

'She'd have me ride around on all the toy horses she owned'

Lives within my heart

'Especially the deep brown mustang with the white stripe on his nose'

And when she was sad

When she had the occasional nightmare'

I was there to dry her tears

'She'd find reassurance in me'

And when she was happy so was I

'I remember looking out at the falling leaves with her, ready to jump around in.'

When she loved me

'And every car ride, she insist to take me, where she had me buckled up safe and sound'

Through the summer and the fall

'Near her home was an old tree with a tire swing'

We had each other, that was all

'Where's she'd run over to'

Just she and I together

'Where'd she would swing on her belly and hold onto me'

Like it was meant to be

'We would spin round and round till she got dizzy where we would jump into a pile of freshly fallen leaves'

And when she was lonely

'There was no better feeling than being held by her, being with her'

I was there to comfort her

'though 1 day that all changed, I dropped under her bed when she had a friend over once and she never batted an eyelid at my absence'

And I knew that she loved me

'She suddenly had changed'

So the years went by

'Emily started to change, she started growing up and changing her interests'

I stayed the same

'It all changed from cowgirls, the wolf west and horses to make up and glam and dancing'

But she began to drift away

'I was no longer everything to my everything'

I was left alone

'I was alone'

Still I waited for the day

'I rested in the same place years'

When she'd say, "I will always love you"

'Often watching her feet go by, I remember she use to pull her phone along the ground with her while she chatted to all her friends'

Lonely and forgotten

'All her old passions found they way under her bed, along with me.'

Never thought she'd look my way

'Then came the day where she spilt her things under the bed, and came back across me'

And she smiled at me and held me

'There was no better feeling than being held by her, being with her'

Just like she used to do

'She scooped up everything she use to have decorating her room, and me and placed everything in what I think was her car'

Like she loved me

'She had me sitting, buckled up next to her like she use to do when she was a kid'

When she loved me

'It was so refreshing'

When somebody loved me

'She parked up near where the old tire swing tree was and hopped out of her car'

Everything was beautiful

She grabbed everything else out and walked towards a truck.

Every hour spent together

'Carefully, but quickly she placed everything and me in a box, before she got back into her car and drove off'

Lives within my heart

'Leaving me there, for me to never see her again'

When she loved me

'Our story ended where it use to thrive most, by the tire swing tree'

While telling my story I had moved to now face away from the window, still hugging my knees though.

Woody sits there, processing.

I speak up again "you never forget kids like Emily, or Andy.. but they forget you" I finish my voice about to break.

"Jessie, I..I didn't know" Woody starts, but I just can't.

"Just go.."

ᗯOOᗪY ᑭOᐯ
Quietly as I can I hop down from the window sill to the chair and then the floor. I slowly stroll over to the vent glumly.

I start untwisting the screws, screw 1, screw 2. I push up the vent and stand there, holding up the vent door, looking into the dark, deep vent.

Yet again I feel hesitant..

"How long will it last, Woody? Do you really think Andy is going to take you to college, or on his honeymoon? Andy is growing up, and there's nothing you can do about it." Stinky Pete says gently from the coffee table.

He's right, I won't be apart of every step of Andy's life, and we have been through a lot but how much more is there really to go.. he's already almost a teenager in the next 2 or so years.

Stinky pete finishes his mini speech "It's your choice, Woody, you can go back, or you can stay with us and last forever. You'll be adored by children for generations."

I drop an arm, and Bullseye steps over to me. I have to give him a pat, but this isn't going to be the last.

"Who am I, to break up the round up gang?" I scratch Bullseye's head before grabbing the vent door with both hands and bringing it back down.

I look over to Jessie, she looks over at me. She looks sad, thinking I have left, then confused as to why I had closed the door, before it hits her and her face instantly lights up.
