I dragged my feet along the sludge in the woodland, Megan, Jessica and Robert travelling before me. Before I even exited the woodland, onto the beach, I heard Yasmine's voice happily greet the others.
"What happened?" She inquired, folding her arms.
"Can we just get 'ere first Yasmine?" Jessica snapped.
As I walked past Yasmine, I whispered to her, "Just ignore her, they're bound to be tired and restless," I assured her. She nodded grimly before sitting herself on the sand like everyone else.
Emma had now managed to sit up with ease and no pain. She looked at us all, smiling happily. Neither of us knew who would talk first. There was a long silence before Robert broke it. "Emma, what happened?"
"After the boat crashed, my leg got caught on a pole," she answered.
"What about your arm Rob?" I broke in.
"I think I pulled it when the floor of the cave crumbled away, how long have you all been here?" He asked.
My mind tried to swim back toward the other day. It seemed amazing that only two mornings ago, I was on a flight to Spain and now, I was stranded on an island. That's when it hit me. I was seventeen.
I decided to keep the information to myself, not wanting anyone to think i was attention-seeking or take some lime-light or something.
"Since the crash? How long would you think?" Yasmine interrogated, furrowing her choclate brown eye brows.
"Well, we weren't all together. After the boat tipped, I kept onto Jessica and we just floated through the water until we came to the cliff not long after. It wasn't until the next day we saw Megan come gliding onto the beach, clinging to a piece of wood. She was dying. All we ate was berries, but we did make a fishing rod and we caught plenty of those."
"A fishing rod?" I questioned, a certain annoyed edge to my voice. I wasn't particulary sure why I was annoyed, I should have been happy we had something here who knows how to actually make one, but I think it was the fact that they had been living off meat whilst we rationed cornflakes and rice.
"Yeah, but it got lost in the water," he replied, dissapointed.
"Oh," I looked down toward my feet, "well, we got the food from the crash," I pointed over to a hole in the sand that we had dug to store our food.
"You did!" Robert asked, crawling over to the hole and peering in.
"We have to ration it though, carefully," Yasmine nodded.
"Did it hurt Emma?" Jessica quickly asked. Suddenly, a level of awkwardness had dropped around us and I realised it must have been playing around in their minds.
"Yes... It did, It still does. I have a massive gaping hole through my leg Jessica, what do you expect?" Emma snapped.
"I was just asking!" Jessica shouted. It had all gone from a smooth conversation into this and escalated so quickly. I looked around, tension arose in the air and all became a blur.
"Yeah well don't ask stupid questions then!" Emma shouted. Suddenly Jessica flew up and dug her leg into the sand, kicking it over to Emma and into her mouth. Emma's face scrunched into a terrible position.
"Jessica!" Megan screamed, a hint of anger in her voice.
"Well, she deserved it, seeking for attention!"
"Oh Jessica, no one cares," Robert said. I shot a glare toward him, obviously we were all feel touchy and temperamental, but this comment wasn't needed.
Jessica looked toward him, but refused to back down. "Oh and look at Mr I know everything and I love being the centre of attention."
"Jessica! You know I hate that!" Robert quickly shot up too, but she interrupted him singing a song.
"You think you know it all... but ya..."
"Jessica stop it!"
"Don't know a thing at all,"
"Jessica!"
"Just grow up!"
"Him? More like you," Megan quickly joined the argument.
"What so are you all turning against me now?" Jessica asked.
"No Jessica but-" I started but was quickly interrupted by Megan.
"Oh, you can grow up as well... you got us all into this mess. Why'd you even invite us all... just because of your stinking birth-" She stopped. I saw the concentration in all of their faces, then the realisation.
I jumped up, tears running down my face and sped into the forest.
"Dylan!" Jessica shouted.
I shouted a swear word back at them all before stopping myself behind a big boulder and I pulled my knees up under my chin and closed my eyes.
I tried to stop, but I possible couldn't. All of my body was aching like mad, and all I could do was cry. Let it all out. I felt worthless and I needed my home. My family. My actual friends.
