I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and here's this chapter. It is not at all associated with the story.
I also recommend listening to 'The Good Part' as you get farther into the story :)
Luz wakes with a start, only settling down once she realizes Amity is still asleep beside her. Luz sighs and grabs her phone from off her side table, checking the time and date.
A small gasp escapes from Luz's lips as she realizes what today is.
Luz gently pries Amity's arms away from her body, whispering a small 'sorry' even though Amity was still asleep.
The two lovers had decided to spend a few nights in the human realm together. With Camila of course.
Luz walks downstairs, only to see Camila sipping a cup of coffee. "Mama, I need your help."
She turns around, a look of confusion plastered on her face as she looks at her daughter.
"With what, mi hija?" She sets her cup of coffee down on the table and Luz looks behind her just to make sure Amity didn't follow her downstairs.
"I- I'm planning on proposing to Amity. I already have a ring, and I wanted to ask you to help but I don't even know if you approve of her-" Camila cuts Luz off by pulling her into a hug.
"Of course I approve of her! She's such a sweet young lady. All I want for you is to be happy, Luz. And I know you're happy with her. I see it."
Luz smiles against her mother's shoulder, a single tear falling down her face. It wasn't a sad one, but rather a happy one.
"Thank you, mama."
Camila pulls away, resting her hands on Luz's shoulders, a smile on her face.
"Now what do you need help with?"

It had taken Amity a while to wake up, leaving enough time for Luz and Camila to put everything up.
It had been extra tiring, considering Luz had to run between the human and demon realm multiple times. Literally.
In a few minutes everyone would be walking through the portal and into the demon realm for the 'big surprise'.
Luz walks back upstairs and slowly opens her bedroom door where Amity still lay sleeping.
"Amity? Amity, wake up."
Luz stands over Amity's sleeping body, who still doesn't move. Instead, she reaches up and grabs Luz, dragging her back down onto the bed with her.
Luz groans and gives up, her body going limp for a moment.
"Amity," Luz whispers in hopes of not to startle her awake. "Amity, come on."
Amity's eyes flutter open and a small smile grows on her face before she moves her arms.
"Why are you up so early?" Amity asks, causing Luz to chuckle. "It's 12 in the afternoon, Ami."
Amity's eyes widen in response and she jumps out of bed and Luz laughs at her purple pajamas.
"Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" Amity complains, grabbing clothes from her suitcase and throwing them on.
"You were sleeping so peacefully. I couldn't bring myself to wake you up."
It wasn't entirely a lie, but it wasn't really the truth, either.
Now fully dressed, Amity runs over to the mirror and quickly applies some make-up, completely ignoring Luz as she hugs her from behind.
"You're so immature," Amity says as she finishes her last wing.
"Yeah, I know." Luz smirks as she kisses Amity's neck, causing her whole face to erupt into a pink color.
"C'mon, I have a surprise for you downstairs."
Luz opens her bedroom door and grabs Amity's hand, taking her down the steps before stopping outside the living room.
Amity hears small conversation going on from inside and her curiosity grows.
"Okay, close your eyes and don't open them until I say so."
Amity hesitantly closes her eyes and the warmth in her hand leaves for a moment, and the whispers from inside the living room disappear.
"Okay, are you ready?" Luz asks excitedly from beside Amity. "Um, yeah.. I guess so."
Luz grabs Amity's hand once again and leads her into the living room, where everyone was waiting.
"Okay, open your eyes in three.. two... one!"
Amity opens her eyes and they widen, a smile creeping its way onto her face.
"Merry Christmas!" They all say in unison. "Merry... What?" Amity looks confused.
"Oh, yeah. Well Christmas is like when you spend time with family and open gifts. And give people gifts," Luz explains quickly.
Amity smacks her arm, glaring at her girlfriend. "Why didn't you tell me earlier? I totally could've got gifts for everyone!"
"Well we all agreed not to tell you until it was to late." Luz pauses, glancing at everyone. "Because of that."
Amity scoffs and crosses her arms, glaring at Eda. "You're behind all this, aren't you?" Eda shakes her head, looking between Luz and Camila with a playful look in her eye. "Actually, it was those two."
"I can't say I'm surprised."
Luz rubs her hands together, looking at everyone once again. "So what do we want to do now?"
"IIIII know what we can do," Hooty says, twirling in a circle as best as he can from the portable dog house he was in.
"Let's unwrap the presents!" King says excitedly, running over to the Christmas tree and grabbing a present he assumed was his, considering the black and white wrapping paper.
"Yeah, that's fine by me. Plus I have something to give cutie," Emira says with a smug look on her face.
Everyone gathers around in the living room as King unwraps his present.
"Ooo, this one is from Emira!" King tears away the wrapping paper to reveal a hat with antlers on it. King puts it on his face and runs over to Emira, hugging her.
"Thank you, person I tolerate!" King squeaks. Emira chuckles and hugs him back, a smile on her face.
"Someone start handing out presents," Eda says as she takes a sip of her apple blood, looking around the room.
Edric excitedly scoots towards the tree and starts handing out presents, mumbling the names as he does.
"And... Amity! That's all of them!" Edric goes back to his seat beside Hunter, his boyfriend.
(Yes I ship them. That and Jerbo x Edric are the only two good ships. Other than Edric x Telephone Pole)
"Who wants to go first?" Camila asks, looking around the room. "IIIII'll go first!" Hooty almost immediately starts ripping at the wrapping paper with his beak, leaving everyone else in the room to stare at him.
After he finishes practically eating the wrapping paper, he takes the item out of the box. "Aww, look! It's my own painting of a ladybug!"
"Okay..." Edric continues to look at Hooty weirdly as he opens his presents next.
He got a sweater and a few books from his favorite series. Emira and Jerbo opened their presents next, getting practically the same things.
"Amity, your turn!" Luz says excitedly. She knew what was going to happen now. Amity would unwrap her presents and while she was distracted, Luz would propose.
Easy enough, right?
"Um, okay." Amity grabs the biggest present first and starts laughing as she sees the ugly sweater placed inside.
Luz reaches into her pocket as Amity grabs the next present.
Finding the small box, Luz moves behind Amity and pulls it out of her pocket, getting on one knee and opening the box.
"Luz?" Amity finishes opening the last present and she turns around, her eyes widening.
Luz takes a deep breath, looking Amity in the eyes. "Amity Blight.. Will you make me the happiest woman alive and marry me?"
Amity covers her mouth with her hand, her eyes getting blurry from tears.
Happy tears.
"Yes, of course!"
Luz feels as if a large weight had been lifted off her shoulders as she puts the ring on Amity's finger and hugs her, tears stinging her eyes as well.
Everyone claps, and Emira stands on her tip toes to hold a mistletoe above the two lovebirds.
"Kiss kiss!" She says, a big smile on her face as she looks at the two of them.
Luz laughs and kisses Amity. Slow and sweet.
Everyone sits back down and continues unwrapping their presents, smiling and hugging each other when they receive their gifts.
Luz and Amity were smiling ear to ear.
Neither of them could've ever asked for a better Christmas.
