Why did I talk about Bruno?

AN: Hey, Author here! Just to begin with the story, I am Colombian, Asi es papitos, pura sangre Colombiana aqui. So there will be some reference to other parts of our culture, such as food, traditions and why not curses? We have our fair share of bad words and I can't wait to use them, so that's also a warning about cursing.

Also, I watched the movie 2 days ago so some things aren't fresh and I watched it with the Spanish Dub, so this won't be perfectly written with the English lines (And also I ain't that good in English so thanks Grammarly for helping me lol)

That should be all for now, enjoy the story ;)

Some events from the original story might change so things I've planned for this story work better and make more sense, hope you don't mind!

The magic, the Encanto, the family gift, casita, all of it may be in danger...

Not a big deal right?

...

Right?

It wouldn't be so much if it wasn't for the fact that she found herself in one of her long time missing uncle Bruno, whose name or mentioning was out of limits, it may cause a hurricane from Pepa if one is not careful at Bruno's mention, or maybe even hailing.

But his whispered mention didn't help Mirabel, the giftless Madrigal, at all... Soon various family members and even townsfolk began again recalling the Seer, almost everyone recalling terrible "events" caused by her uncle and how as years passed by, his existence or the ones around him were taboo even by the single fact of thinking of him.

The first ones to approach and tell their dismay were Tio Felix and Tia Pepa, talking about the events of their wedding and how Bruno ruined it with a prophecy about rain. While Pepa remembered the events way too bitterly than anyone would do after decades, Felix simply followed after with a lovely memory of their wedding day, there might be more layers underneath about this whole hurricane fiasco. But sadly, all this information didn't help Mirabel in her search for the truth

Dolores followed up with her telling, considerably more positive than the last one as she mostly remembered their uncle by sounds, specifically sand. Mirabel tried to grab into each of her words, they were actually more useful as they described him as someone who could barely deal with his prophecies himself, bringing a bigger breach between him and other family members.

But there was something else there too... Dolores seemed to use a strange present conjugation as they talked over their mysterious uncle, even if it was weird, Mirabel overlooked it as she had to hurry up in her search of answers through the family members who could have even the slightest idea about the nature of Bruno's visions, and by so, the one Mirabel herself was.

Then Camilo, equally chismoso as his sister, found the opportunity to scare Mirabel as the natural prankster he is, exaggerating his description of their long-gone uncle. But here's the problem, the last time both cousins saw their Tio Bruno was a decade ago, they were both 5 at that point, so their memories of him are blurry and almost gone at all. "Seven-foot frame, rats along his back", yep, this was definitively an exaggeration about some traits their uncle might have had, this did not help Mirabel at all on her quest of saving the magic.

People in the town woke the name of Bruno again and took the chance to retell their prophecies, although all of them were... Useless for Mirabel.

A dead Goldfish, someone getting fat, and the priest losing his hair...

It was all things that would naturally happen at some moment, seems like Tio Bruno ran unlucky at being framed for this.

But her research and hard work of hiding the emerald plank from her family was futile, as chaos formed during the proposal dinner with the rest of the family members who uncovered the truth of this never seen before vision, and every second this dinner continued, things only got worse.

From a sibling losing her gift, a cousin who heard a little too much and shared the truth around the table, a smashed nose, and a breaking family link, things couldn't get worse for Mirabel, the exact girl who was in this strange vision.

Oh, but they did get worse

Hell ran loose after Mirabel caught one of the rats who tried to take a fragment of the vision away, weird... She'll have to check where the rat was leaving to later.

But then the confrontation with the Madrigal Matriarch ran closer, as things only ended in more cracks from a divided family and not even decent terms. If things were terrible as soon Mirabel didn't a gift... This damned vision only made things worse

- Why did I talk about Bruno? I never should've brought up Bruno -

Same words that ran through her mind,  first when forming the pieces of such emerald panel, then the disastrous dinner; and at last, mentioned physically by Mirabel, whose words would reach our favorite shape-shifter, who just ran lucky at finding Mirabel after dinner and... the fight

- Eh primita, still asking about... Tio Bruno? - Camilo brought up the earlier theme again, approaching Mirabel with his usual smirk and making sure no one was close to truly hear the "one who shouldn't be named", Dolores may hear but that was the last of his worries, after all, it would be a worse problem if one of the older adults of the Casita ever hears... Seems like the cousins have a less biased vision of their gone uncle

- I might be of some help for your investigation, well... not me to be exact -

If there was someone in this whole town that knew about Bruno better than the old family members and didn't have any biased thoughts about the seer... It was her. She was ofter described as crazy... Even if it wasn't like that, but as she's liked somehow with Bruno... It might be of help for Mirabel and maybe the miracle too?

- Entonces quien Camilo? Soltaló pue' -

Mirabel just wanted the truth, any hint of the true nature of this vision, of their uncle, of how one could save the miracle

- Eh, cansona, aguanta. I know who it is, but not their house; Tita Juli (Julieta) always sends me with a box full of food and other utilities, then tells me to hand it to Sergio Salazar, you know, the kid from The Salazar's-

The Salazar's, even with a common and simple last name, are sure known in town for being one of the first families here who got to witness the Encanto's might, and by so, part of the founders and ones who helped to escape the armed conflict. Even knowing their existence, their apport to the community is silent as it gets drowned down by the mighty wonder of the Madrigal's magical gifts

- Ah yes the kid, the Salazar's. Just please get to the point Camilo this may help to save the magic! -

- Fine! Have you heard of Marulanda Salazar ? -

-  The name sounds familiar for sure...- Se couldn't put her finger completely over it, she remembers her in a very blurry manner, her existence was... Well, it was strange to have blurred feelings over someone you think you've heard about but at the same time not. -Is she... The seamstress uptown? I think she might have been over for dinner once or twice years ago...-

- That's the one, supposedly she had something to do with Bruno, if someone knows, it may be her. But her nephew Sergio always takes the stuff to hers, but he always takes strange routes so it is hard to follow after, I tried once or twice. But she lives close to the agriculture camps, not so far from house Madrigal maybe -

Now this made it official that the Lady sure had something going on, why would her family take such measures to make sure no one follows after? this only sparked hope in Mirabel but also the curiosity of this link

- And for your luck, tomorrow I have to send another box in the morning, you can go too and from there, you simply have to follow the dude, make out an excuse -

- Enserio!? Gracias Camilito, this helps a lot. Make sure to let me know when are you leaving so I can follow up after -

-No big deal, but make sure Tita Julieta or my mom, nevermind, just don't tell anyone else -

And to answer such request, the glasses-wearing Madrigal simply nodded with a smile and simulated closing her mouth like a zip, promising not to let a single word get out of her mouth.

Tomorrow for sure will be interesting, and Mirabel couldn't be more excited at the fact that answers may be closer than she thought, her last hope was that Doña Marulanda Salazar could actually wish to help her

- There I go Miss Salazar, I just hope you have the answers I desperately need -
