Yeji's PoV
Wow. That's the only thing that I can say. I have no idea what just happened! It's been three days since the confession and I'm thankful that it was Friday then because I have no idea how to face her. That was a bomb!
To be honest, I don't feel the same way. Sure, there are times when I just want to grab her and keep her by my side but I don't think that's enough to say that I'm falling for her.
I was the first one to leave the dorm because I still need to do some schoolwork. When I opened the door, I was welcomed by a Shin Ryujin leaning on her Hummer H2 and she's smiling at me.
"It was really hard to get your schedule from Nayeon," She said when I reached her place
"What are you doing?" I asked
"I'm trying to make you see what you'll lose if you're not gonna like me," Ryujin winked
She opened the passenger's seat for me and I found it cute. This is sweet. She's sweet but I'm afraid I can't just give her the thing she wants from me! Shin was talkative during the whole car ride. When she parked the car, she even opened the door for me.
"This is so not you," I told her when I went down
"Ah yes, it is. This is me when I like you," She replied
"Now, you're just becoming vocal and I'm not sure if I like your cheesiness," I joked and she just chuckled
"Don't you have a class?" I asked
"Nope. I just picked you up. My class starts in 30 minutes," She said
Now, I feel bad. She came earlier just to prove herself to me. Very dumb, Shin.
"I'll see you later?" Ryujin asked when we stopped in front of the library
"Hm. We have practice while you do your training," I answered and she nodded
"O-Okay, I'm g-going," I told her since the atmosphere is becoming awkward for me
Ryujin gave me a smile and she nodded. She waved at me as I walked away.
"The star player is smiling and waving at the cheerleader? Something's not right,"
"Is our Ryujin taken?!"
Believe it or not but the typical movie story of basketball players having the most admirers in school is true. Especially when you're as skillful as Shin Ryujin.
I settled on one of the tables and I turned my laptop on.
"Where's your Shin?" A voice asked
I looked up and it was not a person I ever think that would come up to me.
"No, she's not. You came to the wrong place if you're looking for a fight, Beomgyu," I replied
He just gave me a grin. He sat on the chair in front of me and he read his books. I tried to focus on my laptop but I can feel his glances at me.
"It's rude to stare," I said as I scroll through my documents
Choi Beomgyu, just chuckled and he looked at me even though my eyes were still on my screen.
"Just 'cause you're pretty doesn't mean that I'm looking at you," Beomgyu stated and I just shook my head
It was a peaceful hour even though the football team captain is there. He made a conversation every now and then but he never really distracted me. I guess Beomgyu is not as bad as my friends think he is.
"Anyway, I'll go now," I told him as I cleaned up my stuff
"Yeah, sure. It was nice sitting with you, Yeji," He smiled at me and I smiled back as I left the library
"Were you with Beomgyu or my eyes were deceiving me?" Nayeon asked when we bumped into each other on our way to the cafeteria
"I was with Beomgyu and he's actually nice," I told her when we entered the cafeteria
Chaeryeong was there and she was chitchatting with the basketball team. Which is unusual, jocks and cheerleaders don't usually talk to each other when in public.
"What took you so long?" Chaeryeong asked when we sat down
"Yeji was hanging out with Beomgyu, so I had to wait," Nayeon spilled the beans
Everyone looked at me! By everyone, I mean my friends. Even the basketball team! Jeongyeon, Bambam, Ten, and Jisu shot me a curious look.
"He's nice, guys! If not for your rivalry, you would've been friends with him," I said
"In case you forgot, Yeji. He's the reason why there was a fistfight. What nice?" Chaeryeong replied
I don't know. I mean, she has a point. On the other side, it's not my problem. It's between the basketball team and the football team.
"We have no rights to meddle with who she wants to talk to, guys," Ryujin said from behind
I didn't even notice that she wasn't here. She walked past us and my nose smelled something I'm really not a fan of.
"Aish, Ryujin! Can you chew gum first?" Jeongyeon asked as she covered her nose
"Can you lower your voice, Jeong?" Ryujin rolled her eyes as she took a gum out
I have no idea that she smokes? I hate it whenever somebody smokes. Firstly, they're killing themselves. Secondly, they're killing people because of second-hand smoking. Thirdly, pollution duh! Lastly, it smells bad!
Shin noticed that I was looking at her so she looked at me and winked. Then she wiggled her brows. I just shook my head. We ate during the break and we talked. Not caring about what the other students will say about jocks and cheerleaders being friends.

Ryujin's PoV
I was late because I was in the parking. I wouldn't have been late if only I didn't see how Beomgyu and Yeji were so close earlier. I was about to pick her up from the library but I saw them. Yeji was smiling from time to time to whatever Beomgyu is telling her. While when she's with me, I haven't seen her smile today yet!
So I've decided to just let her go to the cafeteria by herself. I went to the parking to smoke. This is one of my ways to relieve stress. If I won't let this frustration out, hell will break loose.
At the moment, I'm just waiting for our training to start. I warmed myself up by running around SU's running track. I also did some stretching just so I'll be ready for the hellish training later.
"I didn't expect I'll see you here, Shin," The annoying voice of Beomgyu said
"I guess I'm a surprise then," I said as I continued my stretching
"Our match is coming soon and I've been preparing for it," He told me
"Good, you badly need it," I replied. My back was still facing him.
"Watch us win this one, and expect me to put the bruises you've put me on your face," Beomgyu said
I scoffed. I turned to face him and he was smirking. Amateurs. I came close to him until our eye levels were tied.
"Don't be too full of yourself, Beomgyu. Remember how clean my face was when I exited the fight?" I replied and I turned my back on him
"Are you doing this just to get back at me?" Beomgyu mocked
I already know Beomgyu three years ago. I knew him as the boastful, dickhead, football rookie of Seoul University. I knew him as the best friend of my almost girlfriend. I had this girl I pursued and Beomgyu knew about it. I was starting to gather attention then from the girls and Beomgyu didn't like that. So, what the dickhead did was he also pursued the girl. The girl fell for him, showed her off to everyone and he broke up with her because I moved on. He became her boyfriend to just hurt me.
"Don't flatter yourself, Beomgyu. We both know I'm over her," I told him
"But you're not yet over the fact that I stole her from you?" He asked
"Beomgyu, if you're still worried about the attention you're going to lose because I'm here. Don't, you're desperate," I replied
Beomgyu and I can talk like civilized people but somehow, it's different when everyone is around us. When the football and the basketball teams are around us. I kind of feel that I need to put on the tough mask whenever that happens.
"Just saying, Shin. We'll have a second round of that fight and everyone will know that I'm better than you," He said
"Ryujin! Beomgyu!"
I looked at the owner of the voice and it was the prettiest girl I have ever seen. It was Hwang Yeji. She jogged towards us and Beomgyu and I put on our masks.
"Are you guys okay?" Yeji asked
"Of course. I was just catching up with this old friend of mine," Beomgyu answered and he even tucked me on his arm which I immediately removed
"Actually, my old friend here is about to leave! Isn't that right, Beomgyu?" I said and I looked at him threateningly
Beomgyu smirked and he nodded.
"You're right. It was nice seeing you, Yeji. Let's study together again alright?" Beomgyu said and he pecked a kiss on Yeji's cheek that made my blood boil
"I'll see you around, Shin!" He said and he ran away
Fucking Choi Beomgyu. I looked at Yeji and she was just wiping the kiss Beomgyu gave her. Serves you right, dickhead.
"I didn't know you're friends with him," I told her
"Because we just happened to sit with each other in the library," Yeji replied
At least she didn't lie right? Now, I know that Yeji doesn't give a damn about Beomgyu.
"And he's nice," Yeji continued talking so I nodded
"I didn't know you're friends with him," Yeji imitated my tone
"Yeah. Beomgyu and I, we go way back," I replied and she looked at me curiously
"That's a story for some other time," I stated
"Anyway, what are you doing here?" I asked
"I was just on my way to the court and I saw you here so why don't I ask you to go there together, right?" She replied that made me grin
I wiped my sweat with wet towel and I tucked her on my arm.
"See! You're starting to like me," I told her
"Don't let your hopes up, Shin," Yeji said
I am thankful that Yeji is frank. I have an idea what she's thinking. I don't have to play a guessing game with her. Maybe that's also one of the reasons why I fell for her.
