Nathan's POV
Her scent lingers in my nose.I smile as I remember what almost happened.Her red,luscious,soft lips ugh!I wonder what they taste like.If only her parents didn't come home so early.It could've been a sweet shortcut for me.It would've told what I feel for her.
"I guess it'll just have to wait."I said to myself.As I try to reminisce the moment earlier,someone knocked on the door.
"Who is it?"I asked.
"Nathan,it's me."I quickly got up and opened the door when I heard her voice.
"Yes?"
"I was wondering if...your feeling better?"she asked.I can see the concern in her eyes.I let out a sigh.
"You're such a sweet girl,come here and give me a hug."I opened my arms but she moved away.
"Uh...no thanks.Do you want to go to the park or something?You know...to relax."
"Sure.But do you really want to go to the park with just those clothes on?"I asked.I don't want people looking at her.She was only wearing a tank top and really short shorts.
"Oh no, I won't go to the park with these clothes,I'm changing into nice clothes."she said.I sighed feeling relieved.
She laughed."You should know me better.Hello?Conservative girl right here."Kaylee said pointing at herself.
"I know,I was just making sure.It's too....revealing."I explained.
"Ok,ok,enough of your lecture.Go downstairs while I change."
"Yes Ma'am."She left my room and I got ready.I went downstairs like she said and waited for her in the car.When I heard the footsteps,I started the car but was fascinated by what I saw.
"Nathan,"
"Nathan,"
"Nathan!"she yelled.
"Huh?"I asked still staring at her.She looks beautiful.I slowly walked to the other side to open the door for her.
"Thank you."she said laughing at me.
"You're welcome."I walked back to the driver side still staring at her.I sat next to her and sighed at the masterpiece in front of me.
"You look beautiful."I slowly said still staring at her.Kaylee was wearing a pink sundress and her hair was tied back in a ponytail.Simple but breathtaking.I backed out of the garage and drove to the biggest park in Seattle.Discovery.
In a matter of minutes,Kaylee was asleep.I chuckled.She really is a sleepyhead.I tried concentrating on driving.But I couldn't help but to look at her.I stole glances once in awhile until our eyes met.She smiled at me
"Staring is rude you know."she informed.
"I know but I can't help it."I said looking back on the road.There was silence.
"Uh...We're almost there."I told her breaking the silence.
"How was your sleep?"I added.She rubbed her face with her hands and replied.
"It was ok,I apologize for sleeping.Luckily we made it here safely."Kaylee said.
"What,do you not trust me?"I asked acting a little bit annoyed.
"No,no don't get me wrong,you looked sleepy as we were driving here.Let's go."she took her seatbelt off and got out of the car.I got a basket out of my trunk and followed her.
"When did that get there?"Kaylee asked.
"I have my ways."I said smiling at her.I put my sunglasses on and wrapped my arm around her shoulder then we walked to the beach.
"I missed going to the beach.We used to go here every summer when I was little."she said while we were watching the waves.I enjoy times like these with her,peaceful and quiet.I stood up and offered my hand to her.She took it and rubbed her hands together to remove sand.I raised both my eyebrows quite a few times while smiling at her.She smiled back at me and we started running towards the water.
"Woohoo!"she yelled.We laughed as the waves hit us.I walked us farther into the water and she held onto me tight.
"You'll be fine,I'm here."I assured her.I held on to her hands and slowly walked with her.I taught her how to swim which took hours.We went to shore and ate first.
"You're making progress."I said.
"Thank you."she said smiling shyly at me.We continued eating and explored the park more.We bought food to feed the birds with and she laughed as they ate and came to her for more.I just stared at her until I heard my name again.
"Why do you keep staring!"she said annoyed.
"I'm sorry,ok?it's just that...you look cute when you laugh.I can't help it."I explained.She turned away and walked faster.
"Kaylee,wait."
Kaylee's POV
I didn't want him to see me blushing and so I walked faster.Should I confess?I'm a girl,he should be the one doing that.Maybe he really doesn't like me,Nathan only thinks of me as his friend.I shoudn't have expected.I continue running away until I bumped into someone.
"I'm sorry sir,I'm just in a hurry.Excuse me."I apologized.
"Kaylee?"That voice.I hug him without looking up.
"I missed you."I said.
"I missed you too.What are you doing here alone?" Isaiah asked.
"I'm not alone,I'm just trying to run away from someone."I said.I looked behind me to make sure there was no trace of Nathan.
"Why?"he asked.
"I'm afraid...I'm afraid that he doesn't like me."I hugged him again.
"How would you know if you don't do something?"he asked.
Isaiah's POV
"I'm afraid....I'm afraid he doesn't like me."she said and hugs me again.
"How would you know if you don't do something?"
I felt a stab on my chest as Kaylee told me that she likes someone.Why can't it be me?I've been here for her since the first day we met.Every day we're together,I don't let a minute pass to show her how special she is.Isn't that enough to show her how I feel about her?It's always Nathan.
Maybe I'll just have to accept the fact that I can't replace Nathan no matter how hard I try.Maybe there's someone else out there for me.It'll be hard for me to let her go but I have to.
"Let's go,I'll take you home."I offered.She nodded and we walked to my car.
"Can we get icecream?"she asks like a child.I chuckled.
"Sure."I said and drove to Baskin-Robbins.
"What would you like?"I asked.
"Chocolate."I order icecream for myself too and I drove her home.It was too quiet and so I turned my radio on and we started singing along to Remember When(Push Rewind) by Chris Wallace.
"So can we push,push,push rewind go go back in time,when we we--" *phone rings*I nod and she answered her phone.
I could hear Nathan's voice.He was apologizing.
"No you don't have to.It wasn't your fault.I'm heading home,you should too."Kaylee said then she hung up.I continued the song and she didn't say anything about their conversation.
"What would you do if someone you love,doesn't love you back?"she asked.I accidentally stepped on the brakes hard.
"Sorry.Uh...first,I would try and tell them then if they don't feel the same...I would just accept it.If it's meant to be,it will happen Kaylee."I told looking straight into her.The stoplight turned to green so I continued.Kaylee didn't even notice me.I concentrated on driving while she kept talking.
"I just don't get it you know,we've been friends since we were kids.He almost kissed me but he acts like it was nothing."she complained.
"Why do you think he brought you here?"I asked.
"I brought him here to relax."
"Would he prepare if he didn't care about you?"
"I know he cares but that's it nothing more,nothing less.Why can't we teach the heart?"
"Kaylee,you know the answer to that.Maybe you should ask him what he feels about you.It doesn't always have to be the guys."he said
"But,I don't want to look stupid."
"Well then you should talk to him.Clear things up.I'll be here if you need a shoulder."
"I don't know what I did to deserve a good friend like you Isaiah,thank you."I am very lucky to have him as a friend.
"Hey,how come you never had a serious girlfriend?"I asked curious.
He sighed before speaking."Because I already have my heart saved for someone who doesn't love me back."
"Aww,Isaiah,why didn't you tell me!Any girl would be lucky to have you as their significant other."
"Well I wasn't lucky enough to capture her heart."I sighed.
"Who is this girl?How could she be so stupid?Tell me her name!"she said.Her face was turning red.She looks cute.
"It doesn't matter,I'm already trying to move on."I said.
"Did you tell her?"she asked.
"No.It will ruin everything."
"Oh...well isn't it better to have your bestfriend be your..."she stopped.
"Isaiah,fight for her,if you really love her,you should."
"Yes I will and you'll be invited to our wedding."
"Yes!Oh snap!I have to buy a new dress."she said with her hands on her opened mouth.
"Don't worry,I'm not getting married any time soon."
"Can you at least give me a hint on who this lucky but stupid girl is?"
