Chapter 2
Julie woke up with already dim surroundings. She sat on the bed, stretched her arms and got off the bed after. She switched on the light and massaged her temple.
' Ugh. Ang sakit ng ulo ko. Kasalanan to ng Magalona na yun eh! Gurl, that's bad. Don't blame the innocent man. Hindi niya kasalanan na iyakan mo, at lalong hindi niya kasalanan na hanggang ngayon apektado ka pa rin. Ugh! Why are you always contradicting me? Because I am your conscience. I am here to help you balance everything in your life, especially in making decisions in your life. I know but why are you always on Elmo's side? Why not with me? Iisang katawan at utak lang tayo…yun na nga ang purpose ko, keeping your feet on the ground, always and keeping you sane. And with Elmo, kahit ilang ulit mo pang balikan what happened in 2019, it's just the same...you had a big share in your painful break up. If you only didn't let your past ruin your present, then maybe until now you were still happy and in love and maybe you're married now. Kasalanan ko ba talaga yun? If I only asked for a little space? If I want to be okay first and to be that someone he deserved? Ugh! Ginugulo mo ang isip ko. But you know what, I think I will try to talk to him and make him fall in love with me again? After the talk with her inner self she went to the bathroom and had her warm shower.
A few minutes later she joined her family at the dining table and had their sumptuous dinner.
She almost emptied her plate when JM got her attention.
" Ate, grabe ka, you almost slept the whole day and stayed awake the whole night."
JM received a glare from Julie, she just laughed at her.
" Julie anak, stop that habit. You know it's not healthy. And take this opportunity to rest. Di kung ano-ano rather sino ang pinagkakaabalahan mo gabi-gabi. Wag mong sabihin si Kim na naman? "
" Haha! Si mama. Ma, walang sino. I can't sleep lang talaga agad. I don't know, buti pa nung wala pang pandemic, I could sleep early. Kim? We never communicated na po. Sometimes po netflix lang, basa ng novel until antukin. "
" Buti naman. Basta try to sleep early. "
" Yes po Ma. Ugh. Busog na busog na naman ako. JM, jog tayo bukas. "
" I'll join you, Ate. Wake me up ha. "
" Sure Jac...but you're so mahirap gisingin kaya. "
" Then I will try to wake up agad. Basta I'll join you. "
" Okay. Gawa muna ako tea. "
Julie headed out of the dining room and went to the kitchen.
A few minutes later she joined them in the living room. They were watching a movie while they had their tea.
" Ma, Pa, akyat na ako. Good night po. "
She kissed them on their cheeks and she took the stairs up to her room.
She laid on the bed and stared at the ceiling longer...in deep thought.
" Should I do my mission tonight? You should do it tonight… When his birthday is over, you don't have any reason to reach out again. Then do it! Yeah I should. At past ten tonight, I should go downstairs to get some wine first… I need a boost. See? That's what I'm saying! He could still affect you, iniisip mo pa lang yan, ganyan kana. That's because this is my first time to make a move on a guy. Duh. Ang hirap kaya. It's just a simple conversation, anong move-move ka dyan…later part na yung you moved together. God! Stop it! Di nakakatawa self, just shut up for once. '
She closed her eyes and massaged her temple. Pero hindi pa rin mawala-wala sa isip niya kung ano at paano makuha ang attention ni Elmo.
' Ang suplado pa naman nun. Tsk! Just start with a simple " Hi. Happy birthday, Moe." No need to make an extra effort…just do it if di ka papansinin. Oplan How To Make Elmo Magalona Fall to Julie Anne. Haha! God. Ano ba itong naiisip ko. Haist.'
A few moments later, she let out a deep sigh and sat on the bed. She reached for the tv remote control on the corner table. She switched the tv on but none of the shows got her interest. She switched off the tv at napag desisyonan na lang na bumaba uli para kumuha ng wine sa mini bar nila.
When she got downstairs no one was there, only the dim lights were on. She sneakily walked to the mini bar. She took a bottle of Ayala brut majeur champagne, which contains 12% alcohol...she took a wine glass and poured herself her favorite wine.
Julie stopped when she had half of the bottle, nakaramdam na din siya na parang gumagalaw na ang paligid niya but she brought the bottle of wine (In case she needed one, again.) with her when she went back to her room.
She put the bottle of wine on the vanity table and went to the comfort room.
She looked at the mirror and she could see her cheeks were already flushed.
' If we decide to have a video chat, he will notice I was drunk. Wow! Video call agad ang gusto, gurl? Iba! Ugh. Shut up. I know him. He couldn't resist my charm. Ibang level and confidence girl! Okay. Make him fall for you again...that's the plan, so please just shut up. Okay. '
She continued washing her face to somehow help herself feel better.
She wiped her face with the towel and stripped leaving her with only her undies, she went to her walk-in closet and changed into her navy blue, long sleeves pajama terno.
Somehow she felt refreshed after washing her face. She slumped on the bed for a while and rolled again to reach for her cell phone on the corner table.
She took two big pillows, she put one on her back and the other on her lap. She connected to their home wifi. She clicked on her instagram and went on her direct messages and instantly found his username and she smiled when she found out he's online.
' Shit! Bakit ako kinakabahan ng ganito. I should never felt this…but this is my first time doing this, sending message to a guy. Even before di ko pa nagawa sa kanya or kanino mang guy…so yeah I should feel nervous. Gurl, relax si Elmo lang yan. Okay, just shut up. Go gurl! Let's do this! Let's make Elmo Magalona fell for you harder! Wag kang magulo dyan self...Ano sasabihin ko? Hi, Elmo. Ano handa mo? What?! Nah. Okay just a simple happy birthday lang. Heartbroken yun kaya kailangan dahan-dahanin lang. For sure su-suplado ako nito I knew him eh. Okay, let's do this self! '

' Shit! Bakit may I miss you? Gurl, napag hahalataan ka na. Kung sabagay miss na miss mo naman talaga! Haha. Hindi ah! Never. Pero masyado bang mabilis? Haha. Okay. Just simple happy birthday na lang. If he replies, maybe then I'll start a convo with flirty intentions. Kaloka! Haha. I didn't know this could be really fun!'
She erased the i miss you and sent her message.
Two minutes had passed but he didn't reply to her message...she waited, she was fidgeting sitting on the bed.
' Ugh! He's so maarte! He's online naman ah!'
She got off the bed and took the bottle of wine and the wine glass. She put it on the corner table and poured a bountiful amount of wine on her glass, at parang uhaw na uhaw siyang isang lagok inubos agad lahat.
' Ugh! This was supposed to be fun, but why did I feel a pang on my chest for ignoring my message? Bakit? It's already been ten minutes...ganun ba karami ang nag message sa kanya para hindi agad makita ang message ko? Aaaarrgghh! Stop Julie...you're supposed to make him fall for you. See? Wala pa nga, guma-ganyan ka na? Why not? As far as I can remember he's crazily in love with me and magkandaugaga na yun makita lang ang pangalan ko, I've always been his priority and wala na siyang girl friend ngayon… Is he tulog na kaya? I think, the old feelings is awaken, ganyan na ganyan ka pag Elmo is not available sa mga hanash mo... Paktay tayo dyan! I thought you already moved on? But wait, papatalo ka ba kay Elmo? Cmon Julie Anne! Di ah! Naka move on na ako. I swear! It's payback time baby! That's the spirit! Paulanan mo ng message, dali!'
And she just copies the message she composed earlier and sends it again again and again…and sends the same message three times more after a few seconds. Bago humiga uli ng kama ng makaramdam na ng pagkahilo.
Since Elmo had nothing to do on his birthday since everyone was in quarantine, after he talked to his family via zoom he had an early dinner and drank some liquor and went to sleep after he had enough.
Elmo was on his deep slumber he was awaken by the consecutive beeps of his cellphone. Pupungas-pungas na inabot ni Elmo ang cellphone sa bandang ulo niya.
It was almost midnight, he could still feel everything around him was swirling a little when he tried to sit up on the bed.
' Ugh. Who the fuck is this? Ryanne? Nah. That bitch is now happy with her new beau.'
He rubbed his face with a heavy sigh and rested his back on the headboard.
And his eyes widened, he felt he was instantly sobered up.

' Julie Anne! What the heck?! The last I checked, you didn't want to talk to me. What's happening in the world? Is she sick? Is she dying? Or trip-trip lang? Why not talk to her first so you will know what's the agenda? But stop smiling like a lunatic, your actions say differently. I'm not---okay I'm shocked like hell! Why not? It's Julie Anne San Jose for Christ sake! Yeah…Julie Anne your ex. Talk to her! As if you didn't dream of this day to come. She didn't want me in her life anymore, so I respect that. But this one? I don't know. I don't need another complication in my life at the moment. So nah. Whatever she has in mind, I'm not gonna buy. I'm still in the process of moving on from Ryanne, cheating on me. God! It hurts like hell. C'mon Elmo! Julie Anne is a good distraction, and would help you move on easily. And I don't want to use her! She deserves better than that. You know that! Are you sure about that? She's every man's dream, and I heard ang daming nakapila. And I can make it in the line if I want to. But not now. I have to clear my feelings with Ry first before I will deal with Julie Anne. And I don't know what she wants this time, she hated me so much the last time I checked. We're all in this pandemic situation, may be thtat's why she reached out first, and you know when she did things like this she thought it well before doing it...and you definitely know she's also a paasa girl rin minsan, right? I'm not buying it…maybe her account was hacked? I don't know why she suddenly messaged me when I messaged her a million times and she didn't even reply once. So this one means nothing. I better get back to sleep. '
He extended his arms to put his cell phone on the corner table but before the cell phone touched the table it beeps again. Binalik uli ang cell phone niya at binasa ang mensahe.

Instead of feeling happy, he felt annoyed.
' Since when did she learn to flirt in the middle of the night?!'
He decided to reply.
Julie ecstatically opened the message when she saw the notification from elmo magalona.

Is this your way of a discreet booty call? I'm sorry. I'm not available! Just find someone else.
Julie's nose flared reading Elmo's reply...she was mad, really mad…it was as if all her blood rose to her head…she sobered up instantly.
She replied to his message with great urgency with a tear on her eyes.
' Ah ganun, kaya mo na pala akong ipamigay sa iba?! Okay! I totally get it! I'll take it as a challenge, Elmo. You'll fall for me so deeply that you'll not be able to pull yourself back.'
Elmo didn't know how to react when he received Julie's reply...natutuwa ba sya o makukunsensya because he knew Julie isn't that type of woman.

Elmo's jaw clenched in anger.
' Where did that come from?! Fuck! I am not a lousy lover!'
He replied to her message immediately.

And oh, Didn't I make you roll your eyes back in its socket and make you moan and squirm with my mouth and tongue? Just reminding you, in case you forgot. Your body's response didn't tell me I am a lousy lover, baby.
Julie was furious after reading Elmo's reply, as her tears continued to slip down on her cheeks.

Elmo shook his head after sending the message, still couldn't believe Juie could go this low.
In annoyance and anger Julie cried, after she read Elmo's reply.

This time Elmo was smiling with Julie's reply.
' Uy concerned pa pala? Now this is the real Julie Anne talking. But whatever your agenda, please spare me… I know you're just luring me in and again you'll have a reason to break up and leave me hanging… I'm tired…too tired for all this life shits!'
Elmo got off the bed and went to his mini bar and drank again.
' Lonely birthday self! This is so fucked up! If this pandemic didn't happen Ryanne wouldn't cheat me with that fellow intern of hers! Why is it that every time I'm taking the relationship seriously, they will find a reason to break up with me? Why?!'
Elmo threw another glass on the wall and burst out crying.
Julie spent the rest of the night thinking again of so many what-ifs...and finally accepted the fact that she had the biggest part of why she and Elmo broke up, if only she didn't let her past ruin the beautiful start she had with Elmo. And she realized one important fact, falling in love with him was not a choice. It just happened because it couldn't go any other way, she meant to fall in love with him. Now she's more determined to do her plans, if she would fall for him again along the way then she will make sure it would be for keeps this time…she though before she fell asleep.
Julie woke up smiling while stretching her hands up. Kinusot-kusot ang mga mata at ngumiti. Stretched her arms upward and flexed her neck.
Kakagising niya pa lang pero feeling niya nag uumapaw na ang energy niya. Usually she would still feel sleepy but not today.
" Everyday's waking up goal, inisin si Magalona! Hahaha!"
' Sure ka na ba dyan girl? You're just pushing him away instead of bringing him closer to you. Tsk slow moe ka? You don't get it… It's like If you want to forget something or someone, never hate, never hate him/her. Everything and everyone that you hate is engraved upon your heart… and that hate I'll convert it to love, he will hate me until he fells for me. I know Elmo. He can't resist me. Wow! Overflowing ang confidence girl huh. Are we still talking about revenge or? Yup! But what if you fall for him again along the way? Maybe, maybe not…let's just cross the bridge when we get there, okay?. '
She reached for her cell phone at the corner table after.
Julie laughed heartily after sending her message to Elmo.
' Wahahaha! This is just a start, Elmo…hanggang masanay ka na sa pang aasar ko sayo araw-araw…then one day I will just vanished in your world again, and you will go crazy looking for me because you were crazily in love with me again. Wooooh! But it's different the way I see things, hindi kaya until now in love ka pa sa kanya? That's why--- Nah. Please stop, wag mo akong lituhin…just focus on our goal. Whatever you say. '
Julie slid off from the bed and fixed her bed and walked to the bathroom and had her morning shower.
An hour after she had her breakfast alone because she woke up late again.
It was nearly lunchtime when Elmo woke up with head pounding with headache.
He went fast to the comfort room and took a bath.
A few minutes later he preheated his food in the microwave oven.
He ate and took medicine after. He went back to his room and lazily laid there. And he remembered something.
' Wait… Am I just dreaming or Julie did really greet me last night?'
He looked for his cell phone and found it under his pillows and it had already drained the battery.
He went to the living room and took his charger on the corner table and went back again to his room and charged his cell phone. He laid on his bed again and slept.
Elmo woke up before four in the afternoon. Feeling better than earlier he stretched his arms up, yawning before he slid off the bed. He immediately went to the corner and took his cell phone. He switched on his cell phone and walked his way to the kitchen, opened the fridge, took the pitcher of water and drank from it. He felt lazy cooking so he just ordered his food from food panda before he made himself a coffee and went to the veranda after. He connected to his wifi and he sipped on his coffee and opened his instagram. Gusto niyang malaman kung panaginip lang ba siya o hindi sa nangyari kagabi.
He almost spilled the coffee when finally he read her message.

'Shit! What the? So last night really happened, I wasn't just dreaming. Shit! What does she think she's doing? I think her account was hacked. ( He continued to scroll up and read her messages last night.) This isn't her! Julie Anne is not the type of a woman who---flirts… Should I call her? You should. So that she would be aware you're receiving flirty messages from her. Yeah, I should. She's not online…is her number still the same? You'll not know if you're not gonna dial her number…call her dummy! '
He took a deep breath before he dialed her number and he could feel the thud of his heartbeat, his hand and forehead instantly became sweaty.
' I just want to tell her her account was being hacked, why I was so nervous like hell?! Ugh! '
His heartbeat doubled when he heard the other line was ringing...but it just kept on ringing…somehow he felt relieved, she was maybe busy she didn't pick up her cell phone. Dahil hindi naman sinagot ni Julie ang tawag niya, he put his cell phone back on the coffee table.
After a few minutes the food panda driver called him and he gave him dew instructions and it didn't take that long, he heard a buzzer.
He hurriedly went and opened the door. He received his orders and paid the food panda driver extra.
He had his early dinner and he sat on the veranda again this time with a bottle of Jack Daniel's .
He was on his fourth glass of Jack Daniel's when his cell phone rang, an unregistered number appeared on his cell phone screen… Ilang segundo din niyang pinamamasdan lang ang cell sa harap nya, before he picked up the phone and clicked on the answer button and brought the cell phone to his ear.
" Hello? May I know who this is? "
