the final battle

~~~~~
It was a little over a week later when Anastasia was tossing and turning her bed, getting a completely restless night of sleep. Every time she thought she was comfortable, she had this unnerving feeling shoot down her spine, making a cold shiver pass over her.
Anastasia's eyes shot open, her eyes black. She felt a complete imbalance in the world--the universe. There was something majorly wrong. And if she had to bet her money on it, it had to do with something celestial.
She slipped out of her husband's grip and then slipped one of his shirts over head and added a pair of sweatpants. After she grabbed her phone, she left the room and wandered down the stairs.
The brunette angel collapsed onto the couch and clicked on her father's contact, listening to it dial and ring. She soon then heard the voice of her father.
"I'm taking it that you noticed."
"Of course I did." She responded. "What the hell happened?"
"Dear old dad joined the Goddess of Creation in her own universe."
Anastasia's face fell. "He's gone?"
"Gone and never coming back."
The angel couldn't help but feel saddened at this news. She was just now starting to get along with her grandfather, with God, and now he was just gone. But the part that hurt her the most, was that he didn't even say goodbye to her. A bitter chuckle escaped her lips without her even noticing, but her father didn't even bother to question it, knowing that she wasn't going to take the news well. "Good for him. I really do hope he is happy." No matter how much she meant what she said, they couldn't help but come out sounding forced.
"There's also one more thing you should know." Lucifer was hesitant about revealing all that was going on. In all honesty, he wanted to keep her out of the upcoming fight between him and his twin. She had a family she needed to worry about and he didn't want to jeopardize that in any way.
"What's up?"
"All your aunt and uncles, my siblings, are down on Earth."
"Delightful." Anastasia muttered, sarcastically. "Let me guess, they are here to side with Michael the Magnificent?"
Lucifer snorted on the other end, finding amusement in the similarities between him and his daughter. It was something he was never going to get over. "Of course they are. And all of them are all in full support of him."
"Well, you'll always have my support. You know that, right? Even if you decided that being God isn't what you really want, then I'll still be by your side 100% of the way."
"I know that, little Devil. And I love you for it." Lucifer told her, realizing that he didn't say the second half enough to her.
A smile graced her face, "I love you too, Dad."
~~~~~

Anastasia had made her to Los Angeles to support her father.

After much arguing and debating against one another, Anastasia had won the battle, so now she was making her way to where her father lived.

She did however leave the rest of her family home. It wasn't their battle. It wasn't their fight. They may be a part of the feud between Michael and Lucifer. They deserved peace and not to be in a constant war zone. Just like how Lucifer had made sure his wife, Chloe had stayed out of it.

Anastasia landed down next to where she saw her uncle and her father, standing in front of Michael and all her other aunts and uncles--not like she liked any of them. She pretty much hated the majority of them for their blind faith in Michael, who was literally the worst out of all of them.

The rest of them turned their attention to her and she didn't even bother giving them any attention as she then looked at Michael, who was already glaring at her.

"Nice scar." She commented. "It suits you."

Michael rolled his eyes at her before turning towards his brother. "You actually showed up. Look at that. You ready to bend a knee, brother?"

Lucifer hesitated, before Amenadiel replied, "Yes, brother, we...listen, we accept you as our new God."

"Do you? Does he?" Michael chuckled. "I wanna hear from him. The one who doesn't lie."

"Of course, brother." Lucifer spoke up as he kneeled down on one knee, making Anastasia cock an eyebrow, wondering what he had planned.

"You are..."

"God..."

"Awful!!!"

He then stood up as he was laughing. "I mean what on Earth are you wearing. When my nephew could dress himself, he dressed better than you! Is winter coming or something?"

"Very funny, Lucifer. Very, very funny." A dry chuckle resonated from him. "Why do you have to fight the inevitable?"

"It's the only way I know how to fight." Lucifer responded and then Anastasia chimed in, "I demand a vote!"

Michael once again looked purely annoyed as he laughed at her words. "Seriously?" He scoffed. "Alright. Fine! Who here is not voting for me?" None of the angels standing on his side raised their hands. "I said, is anyone here not voting for me?"

"Well, that's it. That's your speech."

"I think I've said all I need to."

Lucifer sighed at his twin's words. "Brothers and sisters, I know what you all desire. And I know it's not me as God. But I also know you don't want him either. So you have a difficult decision to make. Everyone knows what Michael's all about. Fear. He's using it now by threatening you with the Flaming Sword. But me... I'm gonna try and convince you with the truth. I'm gonna tell you the real reason I want to be God.

One of the angels on the other side spoke up. Anastasia recognized him as her uncle Zadkiel. "I know why Lucifer wants the throne. And it's for love of all things." He continued, glancing at Anastasia, knowing that her, her family, and Chloe was Lucifer's reasoning.

All the other angels laughed at his words.

"I never thought I'd hear it. Love. The best reason one could have. Lucifer has my support. He is worthy. Who's with me?" Zadkiel finished off as he walked over to where the other three were standing.

No one else joined.

A humorless chuckle came from Michael. "Thank you! Oh, I really thought this was going to be a whole thing. "A" for effort though, Zadkiel." He then glanced at his supporters. "It looks like we have the numbers. Consider the vote complete and me..."

"God!"

"God!"

The only sounds that could be heard were the sounds of birds tweeting that was soon joined by Anastasia speaking as she laughed a little. "It's alright, uncle Mikey. Performance issues are common in men your age." It earned a few snickers from the angels on the other side, making her lips twitch up.

"Oh, come on! I thought there'd be a little some-some, a flash of lightning, maybe, unless... I-- I thought Dad said we were choosing."

"Maybe it has to be unanimous."

"Right. Right." Michael chuckled. "Well, if it has to be unanimous, there's only one way to make that happen. Get rid of all the opposing votes."

"Wait!!" Lucifer shouted.

"Mom never liked you."

"Thank you."

Lucifer then whispered to his older brother. "Where is Maze?"

"Any minute now, Lucy, I'm sure of it." Amenadiel attempted to reassure him and himself.

"What are we going to do now?" Anastasia hissed. She could kill all of them if she wanted, but she was pretty sure that would be deeply frowned upon.

"Can you hear that?"

"Can't touch this!"

The group of four then broke out into song, making Michael and the others look at them as if they were crazy. Maybe they were, who knew at this point. They then tried to play the card of God coming back and making them all sing, but they didn't seem to buy it.

"You're obviously stalling-"

He was interrupted by Mazikeen. "Lucifer!"

"Finally!"

Maze commanded the others in her language, Lilim, and then were ready to fight.

"Oh, very cute. A little demon army." He laughed. "But you still don't stand a chance."

Lucifer and Amenadiel then looked towards Anastasia, whose eyes turned pitch black and her irises blazing red, black smoke swirling around her hands.

Some of the angel's eyes widened. "That-that is new." Zadkiel commented, staring in slight fear, glad he wasn't still with the other brother.

"So you see, dear brother, we're more evenly matched than you anticipated." Lucifer mused as Michael kept glancing back and forth towards his niece. He would be stupid to say he wasn't intimidated by her. "Now, I know you want to avoid bloodshed amongst our siblings, as do I. So... why don't we just, uh... you know, shed each other's? Mano a mano? Or ala a ala? Which means wing to wing in Latin-- Got it, yes, thank you. And precisely. I win, Godhood is mine. You win, you have my full support, and I'll crawl back to Hell like a good little Devil."

"Ah, ah, ah. When I win, you won't be crawling anywhere." His twin interrupted. "This is to the Death."

"So be it."

~~~~~
The two twins fought against each other.
It was quickly becoming evident that Lucifer was losing, which raised concern amongst the angels on his side, especially his daughter. If this was going to be to the Death and her father lost...she didn't even want to think about it.
A little later, Lucifer was holding the Flaming Sword away from him, preventing his brother from bringing it down upon him.
"Dear brother, this was never a part of the plan."
Anastasia came up behind him and broke a piece of the sword off that belonged to Amenadiel's necklace. She then quickly flew away from the two of the brothers, following the plan of getting the two parts of the blades as far away from each other as possible.
Normally, she would have opted for just destroying it, but a celestial object was the only thing her darkness could destroy and that pissed her off a lot.
She could hear the flapping of wings above as she flew higher and higher, meaning that her uncle was no doubt following her. She assumed he was farther away, but then realized way too late that he wasn't.
~~~~~

Lucifer was standing where his brother had left him when he saw his sister appear.

Azrael. The Angel of Death.

"I'm sorry, Lu." She spoke to him, knowing that even she couldn't do anything at this point. She couldn't even take Anastasia to Heaven. Her soul had been obliterated.

Lucifer knew exactly what had happened as he glanced up and saw his daughter falling from the sky with Azrael's blade embedded in the middle of her chest. She then soon crashed into the ground a little away from him. He knew the fate of that blade. Hell, he had bestowed that fate on his older brother, Uriel. And now his daughter was going to suffer that same fate.

With the initial shock of it all, he didn't notice his brother come up behind him and stab him straight with one of the demon daggers that he had from Hell. His eyes widened in shock before his body fell to the floor.

Both Lucifer and Anastasia Morningstar were dead.

~~~~~
Michael stood with a triumphant smirk as he walked down the stairs of the venue.
Amenadiel, Maze, Eve, and the majority of the other angels stared in shock. They never expected both of them to be dead.
However, with all the commotion, none of them noticed as Anastasia's fingers began to twitch ever so slightly.
"Well, it appears I will be God." Michael announced. "Good try, brother." He spoke to Amenadiel. "Either you join my side or you'll suffer the same fate as my brother and niece."
Anastasia gasped awake, not drawing any attention as she sat up from where she had fallen. Her head was pounding, everything was brighter than before, she heard every single sound blaring through her ears, and she was getting a massive headache from it all.
The angel looked down and tore the blade from her chest, not minding the pain as it reminded her that she was still alive. She then pulled a little vial out of her inside front pocket of her suit that was full of red liquid. She popped off the cap and then downed the contents in one go.
The sky over the coliseum began to grow darker as she drank what was in the glass container. The wind was blowing all around the remaining angels as the sky soon was pitched black, but to the point where they could still see. Thunder boomed and bright white lightning crackled throughout the gray clouds.
Anastasia felt fangs protrude from her gums and veins travel from down her eyes. She then let them all come back in and she glanced around for her father. When she saw them, she felt her heartbreak and rushed over towards him. She yanked the blade out from his back and rolled him over onto his back.
"Please come back..." She whispered, before she then sped down the stadium stairs and sent Michael flying across the field.
"Miss me?"
~~~~~

Michael stuttered over his words as did all of the angels as they saw that Anastasia was completely fine. She should have been obliterated from existence. Her soul and body all the same. But here she stood fine--completely fine.

"H-how?" Her favorite uncle, Zadkiel, and best friend, Maze, stumbled over their words.

Anastasia had a grin on her face. "I had a contingency plan of my own." She then opened her mouth the slightest and all the angels--more like everyone-- gasped in shock as her fangs protrude from her gums, her eyes turn black with red irises, and black and dark red veins ripple down from her eyes.

"Four of a kind adamant and very persistent hybrid daughter who didn't want to lose her mother equals...." Anastasia trailed off and a large smile broke out across her face. "...loophole."

Michael had attempted to come up from behind her, but she sped behind him and sank her fangs into his neck. She relished in the feeling of warm blood going down her throat, but also in the fact that every other family member, besides the ones she actually liked, seemed terrified of her. From their point of view, the woman they saw before them was definitely not the little girl they remembered from Heaven.

Before she could drain her uncle dry, a bright white light flashed before them all. Standing in front of everyone, stood her very much alive father. She removed her fangs from his neck, blood trickling down the corner of her mouth. She wiped it away with her thumb and stuck it in her mouth, sucking the blood off of it.

"Sweetheart, don't kill him." Lucifer warned her, recognizing the crazed look in her eyes. "He'll get what he deserves..."

Anastasia didn't seem to care what her father said. Instead, she slammed her hand into her uncle's chest and ripped his heart and then stabbed him with the same demon blade that had gone through her father just to make sure he was dead. She then removed her hand, his heart in it, and then watched as his lifeless body fell to the floor. His heart then fell on the ground next to it as Anastasia licked the blood off of one of her fingers.

She then shrugged, her vampiric features disappearing, as she looked back at her father. "He deserved it."

"You didn't have to kill him, Anastasia." Amenadiel then spoke up, seeing that his brother was sort of agreeing with what his niece had been saying.

"What can I say," She shrugged. "I'm a creature of habit." She then stepped over Michael's dead body, stepping on his back as she made her out of the stadium.

Anastasia sighed as she walked away, her vampiric features coming back to her face, "And I'm cool with that."
