You heard someone munching beside you. The sound of something crunchy being eaten, making a shiver run down your spine. You furrowed your brows, slowly opening your eyes and blinking your sleep away when you turned to the sound.
"Hi there!", the male grinned with his mouth full, waving at you.
You blinked at the man once and then twice before mumbling, "what the fuck", "those chips are good, want some?", "no?"
You were confused to say the least.
"Why are you here?-", "turns out your name wasn't Leila", he chuckled, before leaning his elbow on the chair, resting his head on his fist, "good that I didn't told Kazuya about you, he would've fried my ass. Not that it matters anymore, heard you rejected him pretty harshly", he laughed.
"Baipā.. how do you.. how do you know I'm-", "I was at a meeting with Mogambo. Kazuya seemed fucking out of it. Asked him what happened and he just trauma dumped his stuff on me. So, of course, the first thing I had to do was visit you! Would've came sooner if I had know you were here! Look, I even brought you flowers and a present!", he grinned.
And true to his words, there was a beautiful set of red and pink roses, Pralinés in the shape of little hearts and a neatly wrapped present. You once again blinked at him a few times before taking the present and opening it, a little teddy bear with the words 'cuddle buddy' written on it.
You looked at him loss at words. He kept munching the chips when he noticed your stares, worry lacing his tone he asked with a full mouth, "you don't like it?!", "huh? Oh no no, it's not that! It's cute I'm just... I'm just confused that's all...", "why?", "why are you so nice to me? I lied to you, I'm in Bonten and I'm a target of Kazuya... I don't understand-", "I like you!", he said while simply shrugging his shoulders.
He leaned back on the chair, pointing with a chip at you, "and if i recall correctly, you were kidnapped by Bonten. So technically, you aren't in Bonten! Also, you rejected Kazuya, so I have pretty much an open road. And the lie was understandable, I don't see it as a tragedy, unless you're a chronicle liar! Then we would have a problem!", he said teasingly.
You were rather shocked by his behavior, surprised that he was like this towards you.
"the way you talk makes me believe you're a normal dude and not a gang leader..", you mumbled, making him laugh.
"Being in a gang doesn't mean I have to be an asshole now or do I?", "No! of course not.. it's just weird..", "cause you're used to Bonten. But not everyone is an asshole like that. By the way, have you eaten yet?", he asked, making you shake your head.
"alright, I'll get something for us!"
He stood up, making his way towards the door when you called out to him, "Baipā?", making him turn around and look at you with a raised brow.
"Do you know something about Bonten?"
He gave you a soft smile, his eyes softening, "when I said you're too good for this world, I meant it..", "hmm?", "They're currently keeping a low profile as the shoot out at the warehouse escalated a bit. The police is currently looking excessively, more than usual, for Mogambo, my gang and Bonten", "so they're alive...and not captured.."
He gave you a pitied look, "I'm sorry..", making you instantly look up at him, "h-hey, why are you apologizing, it isn't your fault?!", "It's just sad to see you like this. Caring for a bunch of pricks who left you at the warehouse-", "they thought I was dead. Man... even I thought I was dead. I can't blame them-", "you don't leave a girl to rot on the floor that you supposedly like and disappear. Shit they could've taken your corpse with them, fuck do I know?!"
You fell silent, knowing that he was partially right.
"they don't know that I'm alive, right?", "no, I don't think so.."
You leaned back against the pillow, looking at the ceiling. Technically.. nothing was stopping you from leaving now. They thought you were dead. It was like a door opening for you, giving you a chance to escape.
"that's a lie!", a sudden voice interrupted your thoughts.
Looking into the direction your eyes met, "Haruka!"
The male eyed Baipā, his sharp eyes watching the other one who had an amused look on his face, "you her boyfriend or why you eyeing me with such a death stare?!", "I'm her partner!", "Oh! Hi I'm-", "Baipā. I know", "you're not really approachable", "What are you doing here?", "I was just visiting this cutie pie and I was about to head out and get us some food to eat, you want something?", "you're the fucking enemy, what are you even talking about?", Haruka snapped, making the other pout.
"I'm not an enemy to (Y/N)", Baipā scoffed.
Haruka looked at him with a frown, "Get the fuck outta here!", "are you sure you're just her partner? You sound like her overprotective boyfriend", "She has a boyfriend, so fuck off!"
Baipā looked at him offended before looking at you with the same expression, "princess? Is that true?"
You slowly nodded your head, before he pouted once again, "Damn... I was too slow but not that it matters", he suddenly said. Straightening up, he winked at you, "we still gonna have that dinner date and after that you can still decide if you wanna keep your boyfriend or want a new one! After all, I'm available anytime!"
There it was again, that boyish smirk type of grin. Feeling heat spread over your cheeks you only shook your head and rolled your eyes with a smile.
"But... back to what you said earlier!", Baipā said, turning towards Haruka, "It's a lie that Bonten doesn't know she's here?", "yeah.. they know she's here", "how?", Baipā scoffed, almost asking this in fake mockery.
"They returned for the corpse just to notice that her corpse was obviously gone... A few phone calls later and they found out you were here!!", "and their asses still didn't visit her?! Great fucking caretakers", Baipā scoffed once more, crossing his arms.
"You out of all people should know that with the current police situation its impossible. I don't even know how the fuck you're here!"
Baipā laughed, "please, you're not an idiot or are you?", "I'll fucking kill you!", Haruka snapped back, taking ahold of Baipās collar, "dude... to the public eye I'm a regular club owner, Baipā doesn't have a face in the criminal world nor does the Police have a face of me"
Haruka gritted his teeth, letting Baipā go as he knew that he was right. You two didn't had a face of Baipā before as well until you noticed that the men you were following was, in fact, Baipā. He kept his face well hidden from the police and gangs he's not associated with.
"How did Kazuya manage to come here everyday?", you asked,"oh, he? He bribed the staff. Kazuya has a shit ton of Money. He used it so the Hospital staff would keep quiet and take extra care of you. Luxurious, don't you think!", he grinned.
You shrugged you shoulders, looking away. Feeling a wave of sadness come over you, disappointed on how everything with Kazuya had turned out.
If he wouldn't have done the things he did, there could've been a brighter future for you two.
But now? You couldn't even feel thankful for his presence or his way to not only support you physically but also mentally and financially. It sucked how he had fucked up so bad.
"Anyways! I'm gonna get something to eat, see ya in a bit!", Baipā said, disappearing behind the door.
Haruka walked over to you, suddenly pulling you towards him and hugging you tightly, burying his face in the crook of your neck when you felt your shoulder blade getting wet, "fuck... I thought I lost you...", he mumbled against your neck.
"I'm sorry for not coming sooner.. I.. I just couldn't see you like this...", he sat up and looked into your eyes, "fuck.. even Kazuya.. fucker had people everywhere.. making sure that no one could even enter your hallway.."
You looked at Haruka in pity, feeling bad for worrying him like this.
Reaching your hands out, you hugged him close to yourself once more, feeling him calm down as he was just happy to have you safe and alive in front of him again.
