"The cowboy is tricked by his own delusions to kill demons, which are his friends; which really spotlights mental health." "I think it's more about the link to the diverse population around us as he's killing innocents and then he realises the error of his ways" "I think you're looking through the eyes of your own politics, friend." I said about the movie we had seen earlier. "I think you really should look through the eyes of your enemy... friend!" Erin shouted, brandishing her tiny fist in the air with a sarcastic smile. "Not a chance.. Not a chance in hell." I talked with an air of false confidence, pointing in her direction, then running my fingers though my charcoal hair.
"Mel Presto was a bit weird as a witch, although from what I've heard it may be more realistic than first intended. Maybe it's life mimicking fiction, in what it is indeed more stranger than the former."
She scowled and then opened her big mouth in protest. "Utter tripe."
She looked at me dismissively, flicked her fire red hair, and then spoke. "What are we even doing?"
"Well," I pointed out, "We need this collectors piece to finish the set!" "Why does it have to be so long though... and for something so unnecessarily vague..." she complained. "Really? I just wanted to hang out, chill and play video games." I stated. Seemingly, randomly Erin started whistling, it was the french national anthem or something like that. I was only dismissive: "Stop that." "No. you're just jealous you can't progress in the art of the whistle." "No such thing." I pouted, rubbing my forehead in annoyance, and then cried out again, "You've been like this for a month now." she look surprised. "What?" "I'm just joking!" I laughed out a hollow laugh concealing my stress at being in this damn rambling line. "It'll be OK, you'll get your job back." she stated rubbing my shoulder in support. "Thanks." I grinned.
She could always see though me, however we had only just met a couple months ago so always may not be what I'm thinking of. The line we were standing in finally finished with us at the front. "NEXT!" yelled some random overseer with a tablet device in front of them. 'Lucky for us,' I thought, 'that was me.' As I entered the store I was overwhelmed by the possibilities, everything seemed to fade into one blob of capitalism. Every shelf housed something expensive, but only some of it being unique. "Wow." she hummed, capitulating in an instant. I felt torn between possibilities, but all I thought was 'I'm lucky to be around her beauty.' While she gawked at one thing or another pointlessly, my gaze shifted to the corner of the room, feeling pulled somewhat towards it. Like fate, my reason told me there was a weird shadow coming from a doorway down the side-hall of the aforementioned building. Going to look, a thought occurred to me that the shape seemed familiar, so I voiced a salutation in the direction of what sounded like someone shifting around uneasily.
"Hello?"
When I got there, only the shadow of someone running down an adjacent hall appeared.
Strange noises like reverberation of a scream just emanated out of nowhere and proceeded to intensify as I proceeded as well. The very air seemed to stagnate and then pulse before my very eyes. "What is going on?" I whimpered before turning the corner and being frozen in place in terror. All one could call it was a monster of gigantic proportions, it's height towering above me like a great ape. Colossal, it's visage only hinted at from it's unknown angles. All I could see was it's human-like shape and appendages, but bent in impossible directions, and a million unblinking eyes that seemed to change in size at a whim. Darkness emanated from it's very existence, but also was latching at my shadow on the ground! Bits of flesh seemed to extrude from various orifices. I could feel my mind breaking at it's very indescribable presence, so I turned and ran as far as I could go.
No hero of legend was to be found like in the pages of a graphic novel.
A competition of how many sensory organs were failing at a time seemed to be going on, gaining only in speed, just like my wild running. Opening a door, falling in onto the floor of some
nondescript kitchen I went, air quickly escaping my lungs. I breathed in large gulps of air, like a sailor lost at sea, holding myself for comfort. I thought of Erin, and sighed, she was only gonna get herself killed. After a few minutes of panic, I got up to test my tingling body and cracked my back, ready to run again. Our of the corner of my eye, I saw a knife glinting from the light of the old hanging ceiling-light and reached for it. 'I was now prepared for anything' I said in my head. Opening the door, the beast was shockingly there, but more clearly seen this time. Snakes appeared from it's eyes that turned into many mouths as it lunged at me.
Holding the sharp knife I began stabbing and slicing repeatedly, at what assumedly was some creature from the deepest pit of Hades. I, Theseus, was slaying the Minotaur. Black blood covered everything, the ground and myself included. Arteries were cut and flesh exploding viscerally as I cackled with glee at the madness of it all. Suddenly, my vision went hazy and my body feint. Looking around myself I realised I was in the car-park nearby that was nearly empty since it was midnight. Unlocking my car, I opened the boot door, and threw in the knife covered in blood.
"Not again..."
Nodding in negativity, I walked over and picked up my dead friend and threw her in as well. It was too bad. I liked this old beat up muscle car.
