Y/n stared at her phone, a grin spreading wide along her face. She knew the routine by now: Atsumu would ignore her for a few minutes and would message her by the time an hour had past, and then they would talk about whatever took their fancy for the next three or four hours. Sometimes on the phone, listening close to the breathing pattern of the other, cheeks warming at the sound of each other's husky whispers; sometimes over text, hearing the words on the screen in each other's voices inside their heads.
She adored this routine, the constant bickering and bantering soothing her, distracting her as her parents screamed below her room. Atsumu was predictable and unpredictable at the same time, and he was smart; he knew her weaknesses and how to push her buttons, and it was his favourite thing to do. It was Y/n's favourite thing about him, too.
But now it was half past seven, and Y/n's phone was quiet - Atsumu had not messaged like he always did, and as the war raged downstairs, Y/n could do nothing but stare at her lockscreen and wait. Wait for him and watch as the time changed from 7:30 to 8:30, then to 9:30, and so on until sleep took her.
