Ten - Making it true (partially)

Shawn POV

Ever since Violet and my conversation at lunch, I couldn't stop thinking. I've heard the rumors going around about us. Everyone thought we had sex after we left together at the party. Normally, I wouldn't care, and I really don't, at least, not to the point I want them to stop.

I want them to be true. Or rather, I want Violet to be mine. So that she wasn't embarrassed about the rumors. They are just rumors, but I just ruined her chances of dating any guy in that school.

Not that any guy in the school is worth her time.

No one is worth her time.

But after I messaged her on Instagram, I anxiously waited until the end of the day before going to wait for her by my car.

I was leaning against the passenger side door when she shows up, looking at me with that expectant look of hers.

It made me nervous. Very nervous.

She approaches me and stands in front of me, close enough that I can smell her intoxicating scent. She's always smelled good, I'm just more aware of it now. Have been since that night.

"What did you want to talk about?" She asks, looking at me with a raised eyebrow.

I push myself off the car and open the door for her. "Can I drive you home while I talk?"

She sighs and nods, getting into the car. I close the door for her and go to the passenger side and start the car, leaving the parking lot.

We drive in silence for a bit, before she breaks it. "So?"

I glance over at her before turning onto the highway, taking the long way around to buy me more time.

"Uh...so, do you remeber our conversation earlier?" I begin, refusing to look anywhere but the road before us.

"The one at lunch?" She asks. "Yeah? Why?"

"And what I said about ruining your chances at dating?"

"Uh..." She chuckles nervously. "Yeah? I don't...exactly understand what you're getting at."

"Right. Forget it." I chicken out and chuckle to hide my nervousness. "I'm just being stupid."

"You sure? I thought-"

"Forget about it, Violet. It's not important. If it would I would just, I'd just spit it out." I grit my teeth after the last sentence.

"You sure?"

"Yep."

Silence falls upon us once again as we reach her house and I park in her driveway.

She opens the car door and goes to step out. "Thank you for driving me home."

"No problem. I'll come pick you up in the morning, alright?"

She looks back at me. "Oh, okay. Thank you again. Bye."

"Bye."

She gets out and closes the door. I don't leave until she is in the house and the door is shut behind her.

Once she's gone, I pull out of her driveway and start heading home.

"Stupid motherfucker," I mutter to myself as I drive. "Should've fucking told her. It's not that hard."

I mentally scold myself the entire drive to my house. I go inside and my mom asks how my day was.

"It was fine. I'll be in my room."

"Oh, okay."

I shut my door and drop onto my bed. Just as I do so, in comes Devyn and Ashton. One look, and they know. They always know.

Must have something to do with being triplets.

"You didn't tell her, did you?" Devyn asks, sitting in my desk chair while Ashton stands in my doorframe.

"Nope," I say, leaning back on my bed, putting my arms over my head and groaning. "I'm so fucking dumb."

"No, you're not. You're just nervous," Ashton says. "And you should be. It can be a sensitive matter. And if she says no, that's your ego being stabbed."

"Shut the fuck up," I reply.

"Don't be mad that I'm telling the truth."

"That's why I'm mad. And because she can, and will, say no."

"Don't be so sure," Devyn replies.

"Yeah. There's always the chance she likes you enough to say yes to a date," Ashton pipes up. "Just swallow your pride and ask her. Asking never hurt anyone."

"Okay."

They both leave, and I'm left alone with my thoughts. Eventually I sigh and grab my phone.

Violet Mae POV

After dinner, I'm in my room working on a personal project, when I hear my phone ping. I get up to grab it off my nightstand, and see a message from Instagram.

Shawn: Meet me outside.
Violet: Huh?
Shawn: Please. I'm in your driveway.

Confused, I go to my window and sure enough, there's his car in my driveway. I put my phone down and go outside, walking right past my parents, who are looking at me curiously.

I exit the house and as I do so, Shawn exits his car.

"Hey?" I say, crossing my arms and meeting his gaze. "Why are you back?"

"Because I need to ask you something. I was going to earlier, but I was a chicken," he responds, examining me, reminding me that I had recently changed into my pajamas, which consists on a thin white tank top and dark blue shorts that show off part of my ass.

"What?"

"Go out with me."

My eyes widen and my arms drop to my sides, as I take a step back. "What?"

"Go out with me. Like on a date. Please."

"You're asking me to go out with you?"

He grabs my hand and gets closer to me, making the air around us hot. Really hot.

"Will you go out on a date with me?"

"I-"

"Please. Let me show you how a guy should treat a girl. Let me show you how much I care. Go out on a date with me. You can ditch me afterwards."

"This isn't a joke?"

"I wouldn't fuck with you like that, Violet. I'm not a dick. I was one to you in the past, but I promise that was never my intention."

"You weren't a dick. At least, I don't think so."

There's an awkward silence between us as I think it over, thinking of all mu options.

One date. That's all he wants. One date.

I sigh and smile, nodding. "I'll go out with you. But only one time."

He smiles in what seems to be relief. "That's all I need."

That's the different between him and Jacob. Besides looks and the way they hold themselves. Shawn asks before he does anything, and he shows you his raw emotions. Whether it's joy or anxiousness. He let's you know that deep down, he's still human.

Another chapter done! I've been online all week, but it's okay. I prefer it now. Especially since I'm always anxious when it comes to lunch at school. Bye <3
