Y/N's POV
I run along the rooftop of a building and jump onto the side of another. I walk down the wall slowly. As I get closer to a window, I pry it open and hop inside.
Taking a look around, I notice a giant logo on the opposite wall saying 'Roxxon Research Facility'.
Since when does Roxxon have a lab in Manhattan?
I look through the wall to see a few guys with guns and a couple lab technicians lying on the ground. Their hearts are still beating, so clearly still alive. I jump over to the other wall and jump through a vent.
There's eight of them. Three of them are loading boxes into a truck. Two were watching the hostages. The rest were scattered around the room.
I was walking along the ceiling towards one of them. I drop silently behind him. I tap him on the shoulder and the moment he turns, I spin kick his head against the wall.
I jump up to the light hanging from the ceiling and make my way over to another gunman. When I reach him, I jump behind him. I think for a second before yanking his gun away and chucking into the ceiling. His head was stuck and he was flailing about.
I jump into the air, slowly flying to the third gunman by himself. I land behind him and cover his mouth so he can't yell. I look behind us to the others who were still unaware.
"Now why on Earth is a street gang robbing a Roxxon Bio-Lab? There isn't exactly any money here." I quietly ask him.
I look back at him and slowly remove my hand so he can speak.
"Let's just say the Boss has a uh.. Vested interest in the chemicals used," he tells me as I tightly hold him by his shoulder.
"And your boss is?"
"The Horror of Harlem, with skin made of marble. Tombstone is the one who will make us all rich and powerf-," I slam his head against a table. Tombstone? Skin made of marble? Why the hell haven't I heard of him before?
The sound of gunfire echoes. I turn to see one of the guys guarding the hostages aiming upward, while the other was aiming at a hostage.
As soon as the one aiming at the hostage fires, I run. I move so fast everyone in the room looks like they're moving in slow motion. Even the bullets are slowly moving through the air.
I stop in front of the hostage and the bullets bounces off my chest. He eventually stops shooting, only to pull out a pistol to aim at my face. He pulls the trigger and the single bullet that came out the chamber hits my eye, only to flatten and fall to the ground.
I kick him into the other guy who was aiming upward. One of the guys loading the truck jogs over aiming a gun as if he didn't see the other shots bounce off me.
"Crotch!!," someone yells.
And soon after, someone wearing what looked like a red and blue hoodie swung down on what I think is a web? He swings into the gunman and pulls a swinging hurricanrana.
The three gunman stand up slowly as the sound of tires screeching come and start to fade. I look over to where the truck was, only to see it gone. Shit, they got away. Can't exactly go after them now and leave the gunman and web-guy alone with the hostages.
The gunman run at the two of us. I sidestep one and leg trip another. The short guy whom I now dub Scarlet Spider kicks one into the air towards me. I jump and kick him in the chest towards the wall.
Scarlet Spider shoots a web at another and pulls him toward him. The last guy tries running at me again. I wait for him to reach me before blowing hard, sending him flying out the window. The other guy goes flying past me, still conscious.
The Scarlet Spider shoots another web at him to try and pull him again, But I grab the web and swing him till he kicks the gunman into a wall.
"Wooo!! We did it!" The Scarlet Spider screams while throwing his arms in the air. I use my X-ray vision to look through his mask. I recognize him. Peter? I guess that explains the police scanner. I better play along for now.
"Yes, but the others got away with whatever they stole."
He turns to me sharply, "If only someone planted some sort of tracking device on the car."
"And who exactly is the person who planted this tracking device?"
Peter awkwardly crosses his arms and leans against the wall, "I'm Spider-Man."
Dang it, Scarlet Spider sounded cooler..
"Well, I'm--"
"Superman! I know. I'm a big fan. I knew you were still alive," he says trying to suppress his excitement.
I smile and walk over to the hostages to check on them, "Everyone okay?"
They all stare at me till one speaks up, "We're fine thanks to you two."
I turn to him, "What was it they took? Why would they take it?"
"It's called Diox-3. It's just a plant preservative."
"Why would street thugs steal plant preservatives?," Peter asks.
"I have no idea. It's still experimental, It doesn't even actually preserve plants yet," he tells us.
I think for a moment but come up with nothing. What would they need with it?
"I'm sure tonight's been a rough night, You guys should all head home," I tell them.
I walk out where the car left with the Diox-3 with Peter following behind. He pulls out a phone and eventually smacks it.
"Dammit, the tracking device isn't emitting a signal," he tells me.
It's much more likely I'll find them faster with Peter's help. I can't exactly locate one place miles away with my hearing. The obvious things like gunshots, bombings, and yelling is easy. But people simply talking from miles away is hard to distinguish from one another.
".. That's fine. It will eventually, and when it does we'll find them."
"Speaking of we, how exactly would I call you?"
I look over to him and smile, "You don't. I'll just know."
Then I jump into the air and into the city.
Whatever this Tombstone is planning, I will stop it.
Even if he is 'made of marble'.
