The next day, Haeyoon shamelessly wears Jaemin's jacket that she has again shamelessly stolen from him with a shameless, innocent smile on her face.
"What's with the creepy smile and the old looking jacket?" Yebin asks upon her friend's arrival.
"Hey!" Haeyoon visibly defended, huffing a puff of air from her nostrils, "This may be old, but it's gold."
Donghyuck puts his pointer finger on his chin, "Is it yours?"
"N-No." Haeyoon stutters, "It's Jaemin's."
"Jaemin's?!" The whole group shouts in surprise.
"Isn't it too early to be speaking about someone else?" Jaemin's sudden voice made some people jump, Haeyoon waving him a small smile, "Come on, Choi." He grabs one side of the jacket, attempting to slip it off her shoulder, "Give me the jacket."
"Can I keep it for a little longer? Please?" The killer beady eyes are out and even Na Jaemin isn't safe from its begging effects.
"F-Fine. Give it to me soon though." Jaemin gives up and compromises with the girl.
"Okay! Graduation it is!"
"Graduation?! That's too far!"
"It'll come before you even know it."
"Haeyoon, I swear to God--"
"Haeyoon." The serious voice stops their little quarrel. Donghyuck sighs at the male, "Can we talk? Please."
Jaemin backs away from the girl, giving the boy a stare. Unconsciously, Jaemin holds Haeyoon's wrist, squeezing it as if he is begging for her to stay. Jaemin shakes his head, when Haeyoon shoots her eyes up at him, "You can't force your feelings onto people but we can at least let them know." The message came out of nowhere and Haeyoon couldn't help but mutter incoherent words full of confusion and curiosity. Haeyoon didn't get the message and unclasped Jaemin's hold before silently following the boy outside the school building.
The group watches the two awkward friends walk away from them, Donghyuck particularly whipping his head around, and reaching for Jaemin's upper arm, "Hey, what are you doing?"
"Let me talk to you, Jaemin." Donghyuck didn't bother to spare the group a goodbye, forcefully dragging the boy to a more private place away from any onlookers.
"How did we become so awkward?" Soobin breaks the silence, "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable with my confession but honestly, I have confessed to you before and I think you are now well aware of how much I like you."
Haeyoon couldn't face Soobin's curious stares, "And I've told you that I would need time..."
"Haeyoon, you know how impatient I am." Soobin grits his teeth, his patience slowly starting to exponentially decrease.
"Soobin, you confessed to me a week before the second confession in the dance room that day. I'm sorry if I made you wait but I'm still not too sure. I don't want to hurt your feelings by dating you and then breaking up with you later."
"Then don't."
"Don't what?"
"Don't break up with me."
That's when Haeyoon realises Jaemin's little quote to her earlier on, "You can't force my feelings on you..."
Soobin gave a silent stare to Haeyoon, his eyebrows crashed at her painful statement, "Haeyoon..."
"I can't do this right now, Soobin. I have to go."
Haeyoon left the boy staring and shouting her name alone, not even looking back. Haeyoon ran back inside the school, to the locker area where she frantically tried to repress the earlier conversation. Her body shook intensely, her lips quivering and eyes watering. She was scared at how Soobin told her how he has been 'impatient' about his feelings for her. Soobin looked demanding and intimidating to Haeyoon just then and she couldn't help but think of Jungho.
A pair of familiar arms encircled around her waist, Haeyoon gasps at the skin contact. Jaemin lightly twirls her around, her signature peach and vanilla scent along with Jaemin's pleasant aroma from his jacket, changing the excessive sweaty deodorant mist of the hallway. The person pulls her closer to his chest, giving her a place to weep and rest while his hand slowly massages the back of her hair, "Did he hurt you?"
Haeyoon could only weep. Her hands grab a handful of Jaemin's blouse, "N-No b-but..." She tries to speak out.
Haeyoon tried and Jaemin's heart broke a thousand pieces at her attempt to speak with stability, "You don't have to tell me, Yoon. It's alright." Softly placing his palms on the sides of her face, Jaemin wipes her tears with his thumbs, "Breathe." Jaemin guides the breathless girl, himself exaggerating his chest cavity with oxygen and her sweet aroma before letting it go again, "You can do it. It's okay. Let it out, bub."
Haeyoon couldn't feel a more blissful feeling than when Jaemin places a kiss on the top of her head, her body relaxing almost instantly, "Thank you, Jaem..."
