Y/n Pov:

The day had been great. I had woken up early and met my best friend, Annabeth, for our daily activities. After those, I went to the archery spot to practice, while Annabeth read a book and had a conversation with me.

The day was amazing. It was exhausting and by the end of it and pumped onto my bed as soon as I was ready to sleep.

I woke up at 5 AM the next day because of having nightmares. I got changed into my orange 'CAMP HALF-BLOOD' t-shirt, black shorts and black converse, and was on my way to the Athena cabin when I saw a kid stammering into camp.

I ran to call Annabeth, who was on her way to my cabin, because she had seen the boy too, and we both called Chiron, who was surprised to see the boy as if he already knew him.

He was with a satyr I recognized as Grover, and he collapsed onto a small wooden bench, probably tired. We looked down at him.

"He's the one," I said. "He must be."

"Silence, Y/n," Chiron said. "He's still conscious. Bring him inside."

And that we did, we brought the (now unconscious) raven-haired boy inside. We laid him down in a soft bed and that was when I realized the boy had something on his hand.

A Minotaur horn.

I was surprised. I'd only read about the Minotaur in books, and he was quite the beast. I took the Minotaur horn away from his hand, later on giving it to Grover.

Hours later, it was turn to feed him again, so I did. Annabeth accompanied me, like always, and whilst I was feeding him, his eyes started opening. Annabeth noticed immediately.

"What will happen at the summer solstice?" she asked him.

"What?" the boy croaked.

"Annabeth, let him stabilize himself," I told her.

"We've only got a few weeks, Y/n!" she told me.

With this, I remembered the weird things happening and started asking him questions too.

"What's going on?" she asked the boy.

"What was stolen?" I asked him.

"I'm sorry," he mumbled, looking back and forth between Annabeth and me, "I don't..."

Someone knocked on the door and Annabeth took a spoonful of Nectar (A/N: I think it was nectar), and shoved it into his mouth, making him pass out.

"Anna!" I scolded.

"Y/n/n!" she responded.

Chiron entered.

'I think that is all, thank you, ladies, you may go," he said.

We both nodded. As we were leaving, he asked:

"Anything new?"

We both shook our heads and headed out.

Three days later, the Minotaur boy (whom I learned his name is Percy) woke up for good. He was now somewhere with Grover, who had much to explain to the boy. I leaned against the porch of the Big House while discussing with Annabeth over which Harry Potter character was the best. Mr D and Chiron were sitting down while getting ready to play pinochle.

Suddenly Grover appeared with the raven-haired boy, who was now holding the Minotaur horn tightly. Grover whispered something to Percy, while he scanned us. Seconds later, his eyes landed on one particular person and his eyes lit up.

"Mr Brunner!" he cried.

Who's Mr Brunner?

"Ah, good, Percy," Chiron said. "Now we have four for pinochle."

He offered Percy a chair to the right of Mr D, who looked at him with bloodshot eyes and heaved a great sigh.

"Oh, I suppose I must say it. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood. There. Now, don't expect me to be glad to see you," he said.

"Uh, thanks," responded Percy, scooting a little farther away from him.

I smiled and huffed slightly in amusement.

"Annabeth? Y/n?" Chiron called.

We came forward and Chiron introduced us.

"This young ladies nursed you back to health, Percy. Annabeth and Y/n, my dears, why don't you go check on Percy's bunk? We'll be putting him in-cabin eleven for now."

Annabeth said, "Sure, Chiron."

There was silence, but the silence you use when you're thinking what to say next. Annabeth and I looked over to his Minotaur horn. I was about to tell him how lucky he is to have encountered a Minotaur and live to tell the tale when Annabeth simply told him:

 "You drool when you sleep."

Then she sprinted off down the lawn, her blond hair flying behind her.

"I apologize for her," I said. "You're lucky to survive a Minotaur attack, not many Half-Bloods our age can."

He simply smiled. I waved him goodbye and went on to find Annabeth. I went to practice archery, while Annabeth continued to talk to me about how Neville Longbottom deserved better. While I was practising, I saw Chiron giving Percy a tour. Chiron called my name and signalled me to go over where they were. I did as told.

"Hello!" I said.

"Hi!" said Percy.

"Y/n, dear, could you show Percy how it's done?" said Chiron.

"No problem," I replied.

I took a deep breath and got ready to shoot my arrow. I pulled the bow and let go, shooting the arrow (A/N: I am not an archer myself so I have no idea how many things are called, I tried my best).

"Bullseye," I celebrated.

"That was awesome!" said Percy.

"Thank you!" I replied.

"We best get going," said Chiron.

"Oh! Me too then! Goodbye!" I said.

"Bye!" said Percy.

Annabeth and I ran back to cabin eleven, but not before making a quick stop to cabin six to grab a book. We waited patiently in front of cabin eleven, Annabeth was reading her book, and I was drawing on my arm with a pen.

"Annabeth, Y/n," Chiron said, "I have masters' archery class at noon. Would you take Percy from here? Y/n I had the extra lesson with you last Wednesday, so you don't have to attend this class and can help out Annabeth."

"Yes, sir," Annabeth said.

"Sure! No problem!" I told him.

"Cabin eleven," Chiron told Percy, gesturing toward the doorway. "Make yourself at home."

Percy stepped closer to the door and admired the cabin. Chiron didn't go in. The door was too low for him. But when the campers saw him they all stood and bowed respectfully.

"Well, then," Chiron said. "Good luck, Percy. I'll see you at dinner."

He galloped away toward the archery range.

As soon as Chiron left, the kids stopped bowing, instead, they were staring at Percy.

"Well?" Annabeth prompted. "Go on."

Percy tripped coming in the door before coming in. There were some snickers from the campers, but none of them said anything.

Annabeth announced, "Percy Jackson, meet cabin eleven."

"Regular or undetermined?" somebody asked.

"Undetermined," I said.

 Everybody groaned. Luke came forward.

"Now, now, campers. That's what we're here for. Welcome, Percy. You can have that spot on the floor, right over there," he said kindly.

Percy looked at the floor, then back at Luke.

"This is Luke," Annabeth said, her voice sounding softer.

She blushed and when Percy and I noticed, her expression hardened again.

"He's your counsellor for now," she finished.

"For now?" Percy asked.

"You're undetermined," I explained patiently. "They don't know what cabin to put you in, so you're here. Cabin eleven takes all newcomers, all visitors. Naturally, they would. Hermes, their patron, is the god of travellers."

Percy looked at his bit on the floor again and afterwards looked at the campers.

"How long will I be here?" Percy asked.

"Good question," Luke said. "Until you're determined."

"How long will that take?" he asked again.

The campers all laughed.

"Come on," Annabeth told him. "I'll show you the volleyball court."

"I've already seen it," he protested.

"Come on."

She grabbed his wrist and dragged him outside. I could hear the kids of cabin eleven laughing behind me. When we were a few feet away, Annabeth said:

"Jackson, you have to do better than that."

"What?" Percy asked.

She rolled her eyes and mumbled under her breath:

"I can't believe I thought you were the one."

"ANNABETH!" I scolded.

"What's your problem?" Percy was getting angry now. "All I know is, I kill some bull guy—"

"Don't talk like that!" Annabeth told him. "You know how many kids at this camp wish they'd had your chance?"

"To get killed?" he asked

"To fight the Minotaur! What do you think we train for?" she replied.

Percy shook his head.

"Look," he said, "if the thing I fought was the Minotaur, the same one in the stories..."

"Yes," Annabeth answered.

"Then there's only one," he continued.

"Exactly," I said.

"And he died, like, a gazillion years ago, right?" Percy said. "Theseus killed him in the labyrinth. So..."

"Monsters don't die, Percy. They can be killed. But they don't die," I explained.

"Oh, thanks. That clears it up," he responded.

"They don't have souls, like you and me. You can dispel them for a while, maybe even for a whole lifetime if you're lucky. But they are primal forces. Chiron calls them archetypes. Eventually, they re-form," I finished.

"You mean if I killed one, accidentally, with a sword—"

"The Fur... I mean, your maths teacher. That's right. She's still out there. You just made her very, very mad," Annabeth said.

"How did you know about Mrs Dodds?" he asked.

"You talk in your sleep," Annabeth and I said in unison.

"You almost called her something. A Fury? They're Hades' torturers, right?" asked Percy.

Annabeth glanced nervously at the ground as if she expected it to open up and swallow her. I mirrored her expressions.

"You shouldn't call them by name, even here. We call them the Kindly Ones if we have to speak of them at all," I said.

"Look, is there anything we can say without it thundering?" Percy whined. "Why do I have to stay in cabin eleven, anyway? Why is everybody so crowded together? There are plenty of empty bunks right over there."

He pointed to the first few cabins, and Annabeth turned pale.

"You don't just choose a cabin, Percy. It depends on who your parents are. Or...your parent," she said.

"My mom is Sally Jackson," he said. "She works at the candy store in Grand Central Station. At least, she used to."

"I'm sorry about your mum, Percy. But that's not what I mean. I'm talking about your other parent. Your father," I told him.

"He's dead. I never knew him," he said.

We both sighed.

"Your father's not dead, Percy," Annabeth said.

"How can you say that? You know him?" he looked at her.

"No, of course not," she said.

"Then how can you say—"

"Because I know you. You wouldn't be here if you weren't one of us," she finished.

"You don't know anything about me," he said.

"No?" we both asked in unison.

I raised an eyebrow.

"I bet you moved around from school to school. I bet you were kicked out of a lot of them," I started.

"How—"

"Diagnosed with dyslexia. Probably ADHD, too," Annabeth continued.

"What does that have to do with anything?" he asked.

"Taken together, it's almost a sure sign. The letters float off the page when you read, right? That's because your mind is hardwired for ancient Greek. And the ADHD—you're impulsive, can't sit still in the classroom. That's your battlefield reflexes. In a real fight, they'd keep you alive. As for the attention problems, that's because you see too much, Percy, not too little. Your senses are better than a regular mortal's. Of course, the teachers want you medicated. Most of them are monsters. They don't want you seeing them for what they are," I finished.

"You sound like...you went through the same thing?" he said.

"Most of the kids here did. If you weren't like us, you couldn't have survived the Minotaur, much less the ambrosia and nectar," Annabeth replied.

"Ambrosia and nectar," he repeated.

"The food and drink we were giving you to make you better. That stuff would've killed a normal kid. It would've turned your blood to fire and your bones to sand and you'd be dead. Face it. You're a Half-Blood," I told him.

Then a husky voice yelled, "Well! A newbie!"

"Clarisse," Annabeth sighed. "Why don't you go polish your spear or something?"

"Sure, Miss Princess," the big girl said. "So I can run you through with it Friday night."

"Erre es korakas!" I said. "You don't stand a chance."

"We'll pulverize you," Clarisse said."Who's this little runt?"

"Percy Jackson," Annabeth said, "meet Clarisse, Daughter of Ares."

Percy blinked.

"Like...the war god?" he asked.

Clarisse sneered.

"You got a problem with that?"

"No," he said. "It explains the bad smell."

I smiled. I was liking Percy already.

Clarisse growled. "We got an initiation ceremony for newbies, Prissy."

"Percy."

"Whatever. Come on, I'll show you," she smirked.

"Clarisse—" I tried to say.

"Stay out of it, moon archer," she sneered.

Percy handed me the Minotaur horn and got ready for a fight, but before he knew it, Clarisse had him by the neck and was dragging him towards the girls' bathroom.

I whimpered, but what could I do about it? She was bigger and stronger. We followed him in, but covered our eyes immediately, not wanting to see him get hurt. Why did we even come in? No idea.

I only opened my eyes when I heard the pipes rumbling and early enough to see Clarisse and her goons get splashed by all of the water, and pushed outside. The entire bathroom was flooded and Annabeth and I were dripping wet, but I still had a smile on my face.

Annabeth said, "How did you..."

"I don't know."

We walked to the door. Outside, Clarisse and her friends were sprawledin the mud, and a bunch of other campers had gathered around to gawk.Clarisse's hair was flattened across her face. Her camouflage jacket wassopping and she smelled like sewage. She gave Percy a look of absolute hatred.

"You are dead, new boy. You are totally dead," she threatened.

"You want to gargle with toiletwater again, Clarisse? Close your mouth," Percy snarked back.

Her friends had to hold her back. They dragged her toward cabin five, while the other campers made way to avoid her flailing feet. I stared at Percy.

"What?" Percy demanded. "What are you thinking?"

"I'm thinking," I said, "that I want you on our team for Capture the Flag."
