Chapter 5
I wake up around ten and go for a nice relaxing shower. Then I dry my hair and get dressed. When I'm ready I go downstairs. I go into the kitchen but my dads not there, when I check he's not in the sitting room either. I go outside and I hear noises coming from the front. I decide to follow the noises and find my dad and Eric out front. My dads car is parked there and the hoods up. My dad looks up and smiles and Eric follows his gaze and goes the same.
"Morning" I say
"Bout time you got up" my dad replies
Eric comes over to me and puts his hands on my waist, he starts to lean in but I'm too embarrassed with my dad here.
"What's going on?" I say to my dad.
Eric kisses my cheek and I mouth sorry to him and he smirks.
"Almost gone jen! Did you have breakfast yet?" He says looking up
Ugh I don't even answer I just head back into the kitchen. I grab a granola bar and a juice pouch an head back out to them. I sit on the wall and watch. Again I'm not paying attention and I suddenly hear my dad.
"Jen! Are you listening!" My dad calls.
I jump off the wall and walk over to him.
"Yea I'm listening what is it?" I ask
"Eric and his dad are coming over later to watch the game with us" he says
Great! I say to myself cuz I loveeee watching sports!
"That's great" I lie.
"Hey Jen there's a letter on the table from school it's probably about the graduation next week" my dad tells me.
I let out a moan. I had forgotten I needed to go back to school!
"Thanks but don't remind me!" I say and he laughs
"It'll be the last time honey" he tells me
They continue to work and then finally I hear them close the hood. Yes! My dad tells us to go ask Eric's dad over and we have like an hour to ourselves.
If course we go to the tree. Y
"What's your obsession with this tree" Eric asks me as we walk.
"Hmm I dunno I guess it's just like my favourite place to chill out" I tell him.
We reach the tree and I lie down on the grass.
"Lie down" I tell Eric as I watch him stand around.
"Ya I will in a second I'm just gonna head over to my dad and tell him to be ready in an hour" Eric tells me.
I ask him if he wants me to come but he says he'll only be a few minutes.
As I lie there I realise this is the first time in almost a week I'm all on my own at the tree, just relaxing. Weird.
Eric comes back and lies beside me.
It's nice and then Eric props himself up on his elbow to look at me. I can feel his eyes on me so I open one of my eyes and look at him.
"Stop it" I say to him.
He laughs.
"Are you okay?" He asks me.
I sigh. Then groan.
" ugh I dunno I'm just nervous, do you think your dad will like me? How do you think it'll go? I dunno!?? Do I sound crazy?" I say to him
"Whoa calm okay? My dad will love you! Okay? This evening gonna go great" he assured me
I did calm after that, until Eric started waving in the distance and said
"There's dad"
I looked up an saw a man that looked just like Eric but older-like not too old but not young either! He came over and smiled at me.
"You must be Jennifer. Much prettier than Eric said you are."
I began to blush.
"Thanks you can call me jen" I told him and he smiled.
We walked towards my house making small talk. God I was so uncomfortable!!! When we got to the house it all went great. My dad and Eric's got on great. Oh and Eric's dad offered me a job at his garage once it's all started up. To add to the night out team won the game!
Eric and his dad left after pizza and I was so tired. I lay down in the couch. My dad sank into his armchair.
"Jen do ya think we'll have the strength to start moving back into the house?" My dad asked me.
"Oh dad! I had forgotten. Um....ya we'll be okay if we just get to bed...well now " I told him and we both groaned.
"Alright come on off to bed"
