I woke up the next morning to Jay landing in my lap fast asleep. you would never think that Jay Halstead was so cuddly never mind is a little spoon most of the time.
I sat up the tiniest bit and looked around I noticed that both me and Jay were still naked from the night before from the clothes scattered around the room. I laid back down and started to rub my hands in Jay's hair which he liked since he leaned into my hand and stored a little but stayed asleep.
it had been about twenty minutes since I woke up and my phone started to ring I picked it up and answered it.
"Hello," I said.
"hello dr smith it is miss goodwin I am here about you returning to work," she said.
"oh hey yeah umm when do you want me to start a shift," I asked quietly trying not to wake a still sleeping jay.
"well I know you are seeing Dr Charles as of last week and he said that it might be ok for you to return if you are up for it," she said.
"yeah I am ready to return to work," I said confidently.
"well I want you to have one more session then you can return to work next Monday," she said. we said goodbye to each other and hung up.
I set my phone down on the said and breathe which made Jay stir awake. I cursed to myself. he yawned and moved to face me and he opened his eyes rubbing them.
"Morning babe," I said combing my hand through his hair.
"What time is it," he asked.
"it is half nine and no your phone hasn't gone off for a case so don't stress," I said and I say him let out a breath.
"what are you doing today," he said yawning.
"well since it is a Saturday I have to have another session with dr Charles and then I am back at work on Monday I said.
"wait really," he said.
"yep I was on a phone call with miss goodwin when you were sleeping saying I can come back Monday," I said.
"surprised I didn't wake up," he said/
"well, you were dreaming" I smiled rubbing the sleep out of his eye,
"well I mean fair enough what time are you going to go see doctor Charles," he asked.
"umm my appointment is at one," I said. "you want breakfast"
"yes please," he smiled jumping out of bed and putting on his boxers.
"you are very hungry I am guessing," I said grabbing his shirt and putting it on. he nodded and walked out of the bedroom and into the kitchen and I followed him.
I started making some waffles when Jay said "hey you know the fact that we are sleeping in one bed why don't we make one of our bedrooms a guest bedroom so then we have more space what do you think"
"you know that is a good idea," I said putting the waffles on the plates.
"you see I have amazing ideas," he said and I gave him a look.
"what I have amazing ideas," he said again.
"Okay then name one good idea that you have had," I said.
"We two to start dating," he said with a massive smile on his face.
"well you got me there," I said walking to the fridge to get some orange juice and I heard Jay come behind me and kiss my neck.
"what do you want," I asked.
"so I haven't been called in yet and you don't have to leave for about 3 hours so..." he said.
"yeah, and that doesn't give me an answer to what you want" I laughed knowing what he wanted.
didn't say a word just picked me up from behind and carried me into his room he throw me on the bed and said "well how about I show you instead"
he crawled on the bed and started to kiss me and put his hand up my shirt and as if on cue Jay's phone started to ring. he made a whining noise and collapsed into my lap.
"no no no please," he said grabbing his phone from the nightstand and answered it.
"Yep yep ill be down there in 30 sarges," he said and hung up the phone.
"you got a case," asked rubbing his neck.
"yeah," he said sadly and got n the bed and into the bathroom, as he left I sighed and got p and went into the kitchen to go washed up.
as I finished Jay walked out of his bedroom ready and put his badge on his belt.
"I am going I will be back tonight but I will call you if I am coming home any later okay," he said kissing my lips.
"okay well be safe please okay and I will see you soon," I said.
"yep and have fun with dr Charles," he said kissing me again and walking out of the apartment.
it had been a couple of hours and i was walking into the ED ready for my appointment.
"hey," the desk nurse said to me and I replied with a hey and walked in but was stopped by Maggie.
"what's up maggie," I said.
"so I heard that you were coming back on Monday," she said.
"yep I just need one more session and I will be back," I said.
"oh thank god," she said.
"why can you not deal with these people," I asked.
"well you know there is one ginger boy who is pulling my strings," she said. motioning over to Will who was coming out of a treatment room.
"oi, Halstead get your ass over here," I said and he walked over to me confused.
"what's up," he said.
"why in the world are you giving poor maggie hear a hard time," I said pointing to maggie who was smirking and Will started to stutter.
"chill I'm just busting your balls" I smiled.
" I got to go" i said walking to Dr Charles office.
it was about 55 minutes later the session was up and I was walking through the Ed when I heard someone calling my name I turned around and saw Dr Strohl or as known as the troll coming towards me.
"Yeah, what's up," I asked.
"may I ask why you are not working," he said. I" i have been off work but i will be back on Mondays you don't have to worry," i said about to leave.
"it is unacceptable about how you have ten weeks of Work and haven't returned already," he said and I turned around noticing as I was turning that most doctors and nurses were now listening in.
"what did you just say," I said.
"well I will repeat it it is unacceptable how you took so much time," he said.
"right have you looked at the document about when I came in the hospital or where you were there that day when I was rolled in on a gurney," I asked.
"no I wasn't.." he said but I cut him off.
"right so you weren't there that day so how dare you to come up to me as say that because you should be goddam greatful that i made it out alive that day and didnt get killed so before you make a deeper whole Dr stohl i would shut the hell up and walk away before i punch you into next week" i said furiously and at this point Miss goodwin and Dr charles were looking.
"is that a threat cassie," he said.
"no it is a fucking promise and i have never come across such a disrespectful arrogant troll like you to come up to me after i was captured by the most dangerous terrorist group in the world and torture by them for months and you come up to me and say that i am not allowed to heal for the worst months of my life well how about this Stohl i can call my commander now and I can get you shipped off to Afghanistan and you can see what i went through and for a matter of fact how millions of people went through and then you can come back to me about what i can and can not do so i am going to say it again Fuck off" i said walking off leaving him and the rest of the ED shocked.
I turned around again and said "oh nd Stohl I just wanna say you are welcome for fighting for your country for 8 years so you can keep your freedom" and I walked out of the Ed and went to sit on a bench.
I was there for about ten minutes before Will came to sit next to me on the bench. "I am proud of you," he said which made me confused.
"why I might have just lost my job because I lost my cool," I said putting my head in my hands.
"no i don't think so when you left there was a smirk on most peoples lips including Goodwin so i think she is also proud i am also proud that you stood up to him even though it might of been difficult," he said.
"Thanks, Will," I said leaning my head on his shoulder.
"go home cassie," he said.
"yeah," I said standing up.
"hey say hi to Jay for me," he said smirking at me.
"what is that smirk for Will," I asked.
"you think that I don't know," he said.
"know what," I asked.
"cassie I have known you for like what over 20 years I know you are dating," he said.
"huh how did you figure that out," I asked shocked.
"when you have been going to Mollys you have been giving more heart eyes and side looks that are new," he said.
"looks like you chose the wrong career Will," I said and he laughed.
"go home cass," he said pushing me away.
"by Will," i said walking over to my car. I drove him and walked into my room and turned on my Xbox 1.
after about 2 hours later I looked at my phone and it was 4 o'clock and I turned off my Xbox and walked into the kitchen to start making some food for tonight.
it was about two hours later and I just started to finish up food went I heard the front door open and slam shut.
"Hey baby how was work," I said. he walked into the kitchen and jumped on the side.
"long and painful," he said sighing.
"you wanna talk about it," I asked plating up food.
"later anyway how was your day," he said.
"well I had a good session with dr Charles, I shouted at the troll for disrespecting me about my time off and I found out Will knows we are dating," I said.
"oh ok wait what you mean Will knows," he said shocked.
"I know right I was shocked as well," I said.
"you think he will keep it to himself," he asked me.
"well you never know with your brother but he probably will," I said.
putting the plates filled with food on the breakfast bar and sitting down Jay following.
we sat and ate for about 20 minutes and then we washed up and got ready to settle down. we were laid down in bed both on our phones.
"you know we never got to finish this morning," he said.
"We never got to start Jay" I laughed.
"so I was thinking since I have been waiting all day we should maybe finish off the night right," he said grabbing my phone out of my hand and pulling me into his lap.
"you know that is an amazing idea," I said kissing him.
*4 hours later*
I woke up with a struggle to breathe I sat up and put my head in my hands. after I finally caught my breath I cursed to myself realising what had happened.
I laid back in bed and watched Jay's peaceful face until the next morning unable to erase the pictures of the nightmare.
