I push open the entrance doors to the Krusty Krab. The smell of greasy patties and fast food fills my nose. Gross. I reluctantly enter the establishment. Usually I'd find myself eating lunch at the Kool Kelp, but it's closed for today. I only have a 30 minute lunch break and this is where I have to spend it for the next half hour.
I walk up to the cash register and am greeted by a monotone, "Hello, may I take your order?" I'm immediately captivated by his unique voice. The way it's clogged and yet clear. Condescending but also kind. A blush creeps across my face. What is this feeling? Is it love? No. It must just be my hunger.
Oh crap, I need to order something before he thinks I'm weird. I quickly skim the menu for something. ANYTHING. "Uhm, are you going to order anything or just stand there?"
I need to get a hold of myself. This is no way a 25 year old should be acting. Just order, it's that simple. I finally find something off the menu. "Can I have a small krabby patty deluxe with kelp fries?" I look back down at my feet, to hide my burning face.
"Okay, your total is $13.99. Cash or Clams?" Shit I only have cash on me, meaning this conversation is going to last longer than planned. I rummage through my bag, quickly looking for my wallet. I pull it out from my mess of a bag and pull out a 20. "Here you can keep the rest as a tip." When I gave the cashier the tip, his ¾ lidded eyes opened to half lidded. "Oh, uh, thanks, I guess."
I quickly run to an empty table and chair and await my food. I only just realised I didn't ask for his name. I was too busy choosing my meal. I turn my head around and glance at his name tag. It reads Squidward. So that's his name. It's so unique and hot~
My eyes widen in shock and disbelief. D-Did I just think squidward's name is hot?! But that's not possible, I've never loved anyone! Is it possible for someone like me to fall in love?? My internal panic is interrupted by the town's famous Spongebob Squarepants. "Order UP!!" The next thing I know a yellow sponge is running towards me with a tray of food. Oh yeah I forgot, I need to eat before my break ends. Spongebob sets the plate in front of me on the table. My eyes lock on the target, the target being the food of course. Enough about worrying about my lovelife. I pick up the Sandwich, and examine it. This clearly is your standard fast food. I don't get what's with the hype for these things.
After a few moments of deliberation on if I should actually eat the sandwich or not, I finally bite. Ew. I struggle to swallow down the bite of food. I feel a chill run through my body. Nevermind, I guess I'll go hungry.
Well now that one of my dilemmas has been half-way solved, time to fix the other. I look back at Squidward. I observe his long eyelashes. His almost greek god face shape. His beautiful red eyes. And his bulbous nose, which has to be his best feature. I finally realise I've been staring at him for the past 2 minutes, when I notice Squidward looking back at me. He's clearly wondering why some weird, virgin, deranged fish is staring at him. Squidward rubs his nose, shrugs his shoulders, and goes back to reading a magazine.
My blush returns. I turn my head back to the table. Holy shit what did I just do?!?! Was I really just checking out someone?!
I need to take a deep breath and calm down. It's 100% normal for someone my age to fall for someone. If anything it's not normal to not fall for someone.
The alarm on my FishStick-Watch goes off. I guess that means it's time to get back to work at the office. Maybe instead of eating at the Kool Kelp tomorrow, I'll come back here for more. More of Squidward of course.
