As I look back at my past,
The numbness felt inside was so vast.
The locked away memories stream out into a rushing river of pain,
Lying there in that one moment of looking back I realized the sad truth I had nothing to gain.
Having the memories playing out in my head like a sad show,
I pray that the loud silence haunting me would go.
Wondering why I chose to remember after forgetting took so long,
In these nights it became clear to me I was hearing the lyrics of my own sad songs.
Trying hard once again in deep silent dungeons of my mind,
I lock away the memories of my painful past that's so unkind.
