I pushed the doors opened and walked into a sea of people. I didn't expect that many people, and suitors apparently. I walked over to my parents and said hello then they went back to talking to some people and i made my way over to Lena. She wearing a nude gown with her haired pinned. [external link]
She looked great, and Owen looked handsome, which reminds me i should tell him about the party reason.
"Wow, Zella, you look amazing." He kissed me on the cheek.
"Thanks." i gave Lena a hug and we chatted for a bit. "Owen, can we talk, in private."
"Uh sure." We were walking toward the hall when i was pulled away from Owen.
It was my mother, "Zella, come with me please."
"But, mom."
"Now." I gave Owen a look a and followed my mom.
"Zella, you will not announce anything tonight."
"What?"
"Did you not hear me, don't say anything about this boy and you. People have come a long way to see you and if you tell them about this boy they will call your father out and disgrace him."
"You really think people would do that? They are afraid of dad, you know that."
She sipped her drink, "Alright, yes i know, but could you just meet with these boys and act like you're interested, and then you could gain interest in Owen a little more and choose him over the others."
"You want me to lie to these guys?"
"Yes."
"I have to tell Owen, of else he'll be mad."
"Fine, go, oh and take off that ring, please." I walked away to find Owen again, and switched my ring to my middle finger.
Lena texted me and said she was with Owen, so i told her to tell him, that way no one will suspect anything. Where was Cain, i need him to make sure these guys wouldn't get to close to me.
I found myself shaking hands with random people, and saying hello to fellow suitors, most of the men were around my age. They were wealthy, and handsome yes, right for me no.
One of them was really snobbish shoving his wealth in my face. There was another guy whose name was something like Paul or Pete, he was really nice, he lived in London and told me about his boyfriend, how sweet, his parents were kinda forcing him to be here. This one man was as quiet as ever, didn't say but two words to me, he was real fidgety though.
While i was talking to a man who had been stuffing himself with food, Cain caught my eye. He was standing in a corner looking around and i excused myself to go up to him.
He saw me and opened his mouth a little and then composed himself quickly.
"Hey."
"Hows it going?"
"Terrible, all these guys are weird. I am done fooling these people."
"Yeah, well."
"Help me, i'll have to dance with them soon."
He smiled, "Have fun. Oh and save me a dance."
Thanks you idiot, he couldn't be anymore helpful. I danced with every potential suitor there and hated it.
