The sliding door opened and revealed Mya's apartment to herself and her friend, Alex. Alex had seen the apartment before, so she wasn't amazed like the first time she Mya's apartment. But, taking a breath in, Alex reveled in the sweet smell of sandalwood and vanilla (Mya loved that smell - that's why it was her favorite scented candle).

Alex also loved the smell - sweet, but not too sweet that it overwhelms you. "Still smells like you're being hugged by the nice lady that bakes cookies for all," sighed Alex.

"I know. The smell kind of reminds me of my Nana. She was the most lovable person and caretaker. And, damn, is she a good baker." Mya was looking up, daydreaming. It's been a while since she has seen her Nana. Every since Mya has moved to the city, she hasn't had the money to go back to her home town and back. She's hoping that maybe in a little while she'll have enough or plenty of money to travel there and back. To have a taste of her Nana's cookies. Maybe she'll send her a letter or call her later on in the week.

Alex and Mya both made their way to the kitchen. While Mya sat at the kitchen island on one of the bar stools, Alex proceeded to raid the kitchen for a drink and snack.

"So, when are you going to sign up for a dating app?" asked Alex.

Mya rolled her eyes. "Just jumping right into the deep end, are we?"

"Come on, Mya," insisted Alex. "You haven't dated or have a crush on a co-worker since I met you. And I met you the moment you came into this horrible, crime-filled city!"

"Well, in my defense, I just wanted to get away from that one dude that wouldn't stop staring at me. And when I tried to confront him, he started to sharpened his knife. Later, I started to get death threats."

Alex sighed annoyance. Turning towards Mya, she looked Mya dead in the eye.

"I swear, if you at least don't get laid before the beginning of the school year, I'm going to throw you off a bridge."

Mya expressed confusion. "Why the beginning of the school year? Neither of us are in school anymore."

"Well, my younger sister is going into high school and she is a bitch. And a whore."

"Wait, if you're sister is going into high school, how is she a whore? Isn't she like thirteen or fourteen?"

"Oh, no," said Alex shaking her head. "She got held back a few years, so now she's a seventeen-year-old freshmen."

"She's seventeen?!" asked a shocked Mya. Alex confirmed by nodding her head repeatedly. Walking to go sit next to Mya, however, when she was rounding the corner she stubbed her toe. Alex shouted in pain and Mya couldn't help herself from laughing her ass off. Mya even let out a few snorts here and there.

"Stop laughing at mehehehehe~," Alex began laughing at herself as well. Finally setting down her drink and snack on the kitchen island. She put her hands on the island and looked down her feet. She started faking crying from the bearable pain.

Mya looked like she was going to pee her pants, but resisted laughing harder than she already was. To her, when people get hurt or injure, laughing is always her default reaction. No matter how much she'll regret it later on. She's still apologizing to uncle for laughing when he fell down that flight of stairs. At least she'll never laugh at him again since he couldn't walk again after the accident. Mya thinks she might be a little insane for this special quirk of hers.

After the pain subsided for Alex, she slid her edibles across the island to in front of the spot she was going to sit in.

"The most painful things in the world: Number one - stubbing your toe."

"Number two - having your heart ripped out by the classic jerk even though you knew from the start that he would never love," continued Mya. "Though you do find love with the wingman that's was helping you get with the classic jerk even though they had romantic feelings for you the entire time, but you just ignored it because of stereotypes."

Alex looked at Mya with much concern written on her face.

"What? I watch a lot of movies."

"For someone who watches a lot of romance movies and reads novels, you sure are lonely."

Mya tilted her head a bit. "Oh, I only like watching it and knowing it's fiction. I don't like it happening to myself."

Alex shock her head and rolled her eyes as she drank from the cold water bottle. The plastic bottle made crunching noises as she gulped down the water contained in said plastic bottle. Mya watched as Alex finished the water bottle without stopping.

"Wow, aren't you parched." Again, Alex rolled her eyes.

"Honestly, this city can have cold side to it, but it will always be hot as hell during summertime. Even at the end of it."

"Yeah," sighed Mya. "Anyhoo, on a completely unrelated note, you doing anything tonight?"

"No, why?"

"Because I have to cover a shift tonight for a co-worker and I don't want to be there alone."

Alex looked at Mya confused. "But you won't be alone. It's literally a club! How are you going to be alone in a place filled with more than enough people not to make you feel lonely?"

"What I mean is that I want someone there that I truly trust, okay?"

". . .You're scared that someone's hit on you and you're going to have no idea what to say to them when they do?"

"Am I that obvious?"

"Oh, sweetie. It's like watching a baby bird try to fly only to realize while falling that they have never EVER seen another bird fly. It's so sad because the next thing you know. . . SPLAT!" Mya jumped from Alex's outburst. "They die alone never feeling the love of a romantic partner." Alex had a sweet but devilish smile plastered on her face. Mya mimicked Alex's smile, but her eyes voiced concern.

"So, is that a yes?"

"Yes."

"Good, but we don't need to be there for a couple more hours. BTW, don't go anywhere near the VIP sections cause the big boss is going to be there tonight." Alex opened her mouth to say something, but Mya spoke before her. "And don't ask who the big boss is because I don't know their name and I have never met them." Alex proceeded to shut her mouth, her unasked question answered.

The next few hours between the pair were spent gossiping and laughing. Some memes were shared as well as laughs and cries. After a long while, they clean themselves up and changed to party the night away. Of course, only Alex would really party. Because of Mya's job, she didn't get to party. She had to deal with drunk teens saying they were adults and the worst part was that she herself couldn't drink. Mya has to stay sober in order to hand our drinks. Or at least not drunk.

"You ready?" asked Alex. She sat on the couch positioned in front of a TV. She hadn't changed her outfit from when she first arrived - not wanting to rush back home to change and she didn't see the point in changing anyway. Mya gave a quick nod. "We'll take my car," said Alex. Mya silently did a victory dance of a sort. She hadn't been able to purchase a vehicle yet, but her job was in walking distance. Because of that, Mya hadn't found the need to get a vehicle right away. Luckily, Alex would let her use her car when she needs to get grocery and other necessities. Or when ever she had to get from one place to another if it was too far of a walk.

Mya locked up her home, making sure that it was truly locked and secure, making sure that the spare key was where it should be, and then made her way toward to the car. Alex had the car up and running by the time that Mya was opening the passenger's door.

"Wanna hook up to the Bluetooth?" asked Alex.

"Nah, we'll be at the club shortly."

Mya didn't lie. In less than ten minutes, they've already parked and heading inside of the club. Skipping the line, due to Mya's job, they went straight in without the bouncer needing to check their IDs.

"Hey! Just because they're hot doesn't mean-" The girls couldn't here the rest of the angry protest before the door shut behind them. The two girls looked at each other and then laughed before heading over to the bar.

"So," said Alex as she sat at on one of the bar stools, "is there like a family and friends discount here, or what?"

Mya giggled. She was already behind the bar getting ready for the night ahead. She had taken off black trench coat and put aside. Taking off the coat reveal Mya's outfit for the night: a black button-up blouse with long sleeves tucked into black trousers that were tight around the waist and ankles. A great outfit to go with her warm ivory toned skin.

"Yeah, no, baby girl." Alex cursed under her breath and Mya began to make many of the drinks that would be moved throughout the club.

"Well, hit me up with a fruity drink to start the night."

"Really?" asked Mya.

"What?"

"Nothing. I just thought you would like the usual shots of vodka."

Alex shrugged. "I don't know. I just have this gut feeling that if I don't stay just a little bit sober, I'm going to miss something big. Like, a fight, maybe?"

"Oh! Trust me, there most certainly is a fight here every time this place is open. Most just guys fighting over whose going to fuck - what chick that they're fighting over - first. It's all boring."

"Yeah, yeah. But, maybe, it's not going to be a fight. It could be something revolutionary."

Mya shock her head. "Yeah, well, when that revolutionary thing happens let me know."

"What? So you can hide?"

"Yeah, from hearing all the sob stories." Mya let out a shiver at the mere thought. At first, Mya thought that if she became a bartender at a club she wouldn't hear sob stories from drunk people at just a regular bar. However, that is still the case here (only not as often).

While the two bestfriends at the bar were talking, more and more people began to file into club. Soon enough, the party was on. Light beams sway with the bodies that danced to the blaring music throughout the club. Although she didn't want to get drunk, Alex still made her way to the dance floor to dance many times with the much younger and slightly older. When she would come back to the bar, it was to make sure Mya still feel alone.

"How you feeling?!" Alex shouted, the noise of the music making it sound like a whisper.

Mya nodded her head repeatedly. "Great!"

"Good!" shouted back Alex. She left, not caring to get a sip of alcohol, and went back to dancing like a maniac. Mya continued with making drinks for all of the club members coming to the bar and for the staff passing around drinks. A big muscular man in a tux came toward the bar. Mya knew who it was - Frost. That was the big boss' best man. She's had few interacts with Frost, but she's almost certain that he hardly remembers her.

"Hey, Mike! The boss wants a dri- . . . You're not Mike."

"No," Mya said, shaking her head with a slight smile.

"Who are you?"

"Mya Burt - I'm the bartender filling in for Mike tonight."

Frost and Mya shock hands. "Oh, is he sick?"

"Yeah, he said the stomach flu and that he could hardly get up from bed."

"Well, hope he gets better. Anyway, boss wants his regular."

". . . And his regular is?"

"Right - just straight up whiskey with a few drops of ginger."

"Okay," said Mya as she began to make the simple drink. After putting a few drops of ginger into the drink, Mya looked up to see Frost gone. Looking around the club, Mya couldn't spot the giant in the tux. "Did he just vanish into thin air?"

"Heya girl!" Alex, again, had made it back to the bar. "Whatcha got there?" Nodding her head towards the whiskey, Mya shook her head and rolled her eyes.

"Honestly, this guy came to get a drink for the boss and then disappeared before I can hand it to him. So, uh yeah."

"Why don't you take the drink to the boss yourself?"

"Right! Oh, Alex, you're so smart. It's not like I don't know what he looks like or even know his name," said Mya, sarcastically. Alex bit the inside of her cheek, she was in deep thought. She totally forgot that part. Alex tried to think how they could get the drink to Mya's boss.

"Welp, I guess you have to wait for him to come to you."

"Yeah. Oh, Frost!" Mya had caught Frost in the corner of her eye. Frost turned to the bar and saw Mya looking at him.

"Yeah?"

Mya picked up the prepared drink. "For the boss."

"Right. He'll be here in a few seconds. Make sure you don't piss him off."

"What?" Mya didn't get an answer as Frost left. Well, he didn't leave, but he moved a bit farther away and looked like he was gaurding something.

"Guess you're going to meet your boss after all," said Alex as she sipped on a drink. Mya looked at Alex confused.

'Where did she get that drink?'

Unknowingly to Mya, the doors near the bar opened and in walked a clown; a psychotic, murderous clown. His eyes scanned the crowd dancing and drinking away in his club. Despite Gotham fearing him, they still went to his club knowing they won't be busted if they were underage. Joker's view passed over Mya's person, but his eye paused on Frost.

"Where's my drink?" Frost pointed over to the bar and at Mya.

"She should have it."

"Mike?"

"Sick." Joker rolled eyes, annoyed. He shifted his body towards the bar and headed over to take a seat. The bartender was talking to a pink haired chick and hadn't registered that he sat down.

"Mya?"

"Yes?"

"Get laid."

". . .Are you drunk, again?" Alex giggled. This caused Mya to giggle and smile like a maniac. Joker looked at Mya with a grave interest. Her smile was contagious, and he began smiling himself. Alex let Mya know that she would be back and left the bar again to dance. Now that the pink hair walked away, Mya turned her attention to Joker.

"You must be my boss," said Mya, calmly. She slided his drink across the bar to him.

"Oh, how I love it that I am."

"What does that mean?" Mya asked, tucking a piece of her midnight black hair with a strip of red behind her ear; though, some strains did fail back in front of her face. Her hazel eyes staring at him, Joker was reminded of jewels because of them.

"You tell me when you figure it out."

"Huh, I thought you were the Joker. Not the Riddler." They both laughed at her sarcasm. Joker finally took the moment to have a sip of the drink he's had in his hand for the last couple of moments.

And that's how Mya spent most of her night; serving drinks and talking to Joker. Unfornately, at some point, it had to come to an end and she went home with her bestie.
