Lisa's POV
"Wanna have a bonfire together?" Rosé asked with that wide smile of hers.
"Sure," I replied.
"Who wouldn't? It's all on Lisa," Jisoo suddenly added.
The hell? Do I look like I'm just throwing money around?
"Okay fine. Hon, come with me, we gotta find some wood," I told Jennie. She looked at me for a moment before saying...
"Go with Jisoo instead."
Kai. Hmm. Gotcha, Lisa.
"How about Kai? Can he come with—"
"Babe, I think he's not feeling well."
Jennie cut me off before I could finish.
She was worried about Kai. Worried enough to interrupt me. As if she didn't already have me standing right there.
"K," I muttered.
I hurriedly went off to find some wood before the sky grew darker. My phone buzzed suddenly.
It was Somi.
Somi's POV
Did you think I was out of the story? Girl, I am the main character here. I called Lisa, wanting to check up on her. Stop assuming.
"Hon, baby, I miss you," I said into the phone.
"Yuck! The hell was that?" Lisa shot back instantly.
Wow. Look at her calling me disgusting, like nothing ever happened between us.
"F*ck you, Lisa! I hope you die!"
"Oh, sorry. My wife asked me to gather wood for the bonfire."
"For what? And how can you even call her your wife like she hasn't done anything wrong to you?"
"Can we just... forget about that? She's getting close to me again, okay? And I think our family can be rebuilt. Let's stop watching her every move. She changed. And while Kai's around, she's acting so distant. I think... she still loves me."
"You're so stupid, Lisa."
"You're even dumber, Somi."
That stung. When your own friend tells you you're dumb, it cuts deeper.
"Watch how I'll cut your head off when I get back there," she teased.
"Wow, scary. Okay, I need to hang up. I'm gathering wood."
"Not yet. Stay safe when you head back," she whispered.
I could hear the waves in the background, her footsteps against the sand. It sounded like music. For a second, I missed being at the beach with her.
Lisa's POV
Then she said it.
"Bye. I love you."
My whole body froze.
It was the first time in years she'd said it. My heart was racing, my face burning. She... she loves me? No, no, no. I have a wife. I can't—
I froze. How... how could she say that?
My wife was standing right there, looking at me with those sharp, tiger-like eyes.
"Who was that? You just told me not to call, and now you're smiling at your phone? Are you cheating on me, Lisa Manoban?!" Jennie shouted.
Liam looked at her. Kai too. Jisoo stepped closer, trying to calm the tension.
"Hep, hep. What's going on here?" Jisoo asked, eyes narrowing.
I threw on my cutest face and opened my arms toward Jennie. "Come here, hon. Hug me and I'll tell you the truth."
"Really? We'll see." Her eyes darted between me and Kai.
Is it still Kai? I thought it was me again.
She suddenly let go of my hug and grabbed Liam. "Liam, come with me. Let's go change."
And just like that, she walked away.
Fast Forward
Jennie was grilling barbecue while I sat on a log with Liam. Jisoo and Rosé were down by the shore.
"Daddy, pass me the oil," Jennie called out.
I stood up, grabbed the bottle—only to see Kai reaching for it too.
"Huh?" I asked, confused.
"Oh, I thought you were handing it to me. Sorry," he smirked.
Don't tell me Jennie calls him daddy too?
"Tsk. Here, hon." I quickly gave the oil to Jennie, then turned back to Liam, who had been staring at the waves quietly.
"Dada," he whispered, locking eyes with me.
"Yes, baby?"
"Can I tell you what I saw? Mommy's far away right now."
I glanced at Jennie. She was still grilling, not paying attention.
"Sure, baby. Go ahead."
"When you left on the first night... that stupid man came to our house. I felt something was wrong. Later, after we called, I heard noises... in your room."
My stomach dropped.
"Stop, baby. Forget it. You're too young to carry this. Okay?"
"But, dada... the next morning, I was shocked. I didn't know what to do." His little eyes filled with tears.
I hugged him tight. "Shh, don't cry, baby. Don't let Mommy see you upset. Want to take a walk with me before we eat? I promise I will fix this."
I called out to Jennie, "Hon, Liam and I will take a short walk before dinner. We'll be back soon. Love you."
She waved distractedly.
"Dada," Liam whispered again as we walked along the sand.
"Yes, baby?"
"If Mommy cheats... will you forgive her?"
I paused. My throat tightened. "I don't know yet, baby. I'm sorry."
"Then promise me one thing. We'll stick together, right? You won't ever leave me?"
"I promise. Always."
He smiled weakly, holding my hand tighter.
Fast Forward — Bonfire Night
Drinks. Laughter. Music. Everyone was having fun.
I sat next to Jennie—my wife, my everything. Or at least, she used to be.
The alcohol hit me hard. I stumbled toward the bathroom, barely keeping balance.
When I returned, Jennie's phone wouldn't stop buzzing.
(Babe)
(Babe)
(Babe, I need you.)
(I think Lisa's drunk. Please. I'm really horny.)
Kai.
I saw him grinning across the fire as Jennie picked up her last shot and stood up.
"Hon, I'll just use the restroom. Jisoo, keep an eye on Lisa. She's drunk already."
Kai followed right after.
Jennie didn't stop him.
Jennie's POV
"F*ck, Kai, more..." My voice echoed inside the bathroom stall.
I didn't even hear the door open.
"Whoa. Hot scene, my wife."
My heart stopped. Lisa stood there, smirking bitterly, watching me with Kai.
"Continue" She ordered coldly.
He froze, then pulled away instantly.
I scrambled for my clothes, but Lisa had already turned her back.
"Nah, just continue. Don't mind me," she said before leaving.
I chased after her, only a towel covering me.
"Hon, please, let me explain—"
"Explain what, Jennie?!" Lisa's voice cracked, louder than the waves.
"I saw it with my own fucking eyes. In front of me! Are you not ashamed? Not even for your son?!"
Tears blurred my vision. "Please—"
"SHUT UP, SLUT!" she roared. And then she was gone.
