Hey everyone. Another chapter. Hope you enjoy.

Chapter 2

Jess POV:

It was November 12th. Jack and I had been writing each other for three weeks. It had been one week since he had mailed his picture. I had replied to that letter almost immediately. It was difficult to tell what he thought of me from his letter. His handwriting looked a bit rushed, like he might have been in a hurry. Had he flirted? I looked over the first line. If that was flirtation, it was subtle as hell. I sighed and laid back in my bed. I still knew barely anything about him. He lived in, what, Florida? Charleston? I didn't know. I fingered my phone longingly. If I had his phone number, I could hear his voice...

Just then it started ringing. I was so surprised I dropped it onto the bed and stared at it. I started dancing to it, out of habit. It was 'Hips Don't Lie' By Shakira (I really needed to change it, I was starting to get weird looks). Then I realized what was going on and picked up.

“Hey Katherine.”

“Hey! How'd it go?” She sounded excited. It took me a few minutes to figure out what she was talking about.

“Oh, um. Fine, I guess.”

Fine? What do you mean by that?” She sighed. “You're thinking about him again, aren't you?”

“Sorta. But, the job interview was good. I'm not sure I want to work there though.”

“Why not? You're interested in science and they have some of the best resources in the state and they pay a lot.”

“Yeah, but I was actually thinking about teaching. You know I love kids and it'd be fun.” I was surprised that I was actually pleading with her. I wanted her to support me, but it wasn't like I needed her permission. I think she just wanted me to get rich so she wouldn't have to worry about it. She wasn't a party girl. In fact she was very careful and modest around men. But she did like to shop. Then again, so did I.

“Well...that's true. I mean, it's not like you'd have to work there forever, though. And they probably won't be hiring again in the foreseeable future. I mean, this would be an awesome opportunity for you.” I shrugged, then remembered she couldn't see me.

“Yeah. Well, they haven't offered me the job. I'll think about it. But...you know...Jack is going to be working at a school, teaching English, and if I went and taught Science....” My voice trailed off, I pressed my lips together while I waited for her to answer.

“True. But what would happen if you two broke up?” God, she was a pessimist.

“Well, we're not exactly together....” Much to my dismay.

“But the chemistry is there. And once he sees you in person...I mean that picture you sent him was you on a bad day.” I shook my head, once again forgetting she couldn't see me. “But my point is that if you two broke up, then it would be awkward having to see each other every day!”

“Yeah...well, I'll think about it.” I slumped back on the bed, staring at my ceiling. I really did act like a teenager sometimes.

“Hey, I have to go. My sister wants to call her boyfriend and tell him how much she missed him in the twenty minutes since they last saw each other.”

“Don't roll your eyes.” I said, smiling.

“Jessie! How do you do that? You can't even see me!” She gasped. “Your psychic! I knew it!”

“Yes. I am. Now, let Melissa on so she can talk to her one true love?”

“Uck, but they're so grooooss.” She whined. OK, both of us acted like teenagers. “I mean, she's younger than I am and she's acting all....” She made a noise similar to that of a dying whale, but I got the picture.

“You'll live. See ya!” I clicked 'End' and let my hand drop.

Jack POV:

“Dude, she's hot.” I rolled my eyes. “Like, seriously hot.” Mike looked at me, obviously jealous. “Hotter than you-know-who.” I winced. It seemed no one wanted to call Ella by her name (To spare me some sort of discomfort), but it just made it worse.

“Yeah, she's beautiful.” I muttered and snatched her picture out of his hand.

“So, how did you two meet?” I glanced up to see my sister with her hands on her hips. Her blond hair was windswept and her clothes were messy. Obviously she'd just come in from the beach. Our (My sister and I lived together) house was practically on the beach.

“Jack sent a letter to Ella, who's living in New York now, and it accidentally got sent to her.” He grabbed the picture of Jess and showed it to Elena.

“She's pretty.” Her mouth twitched. “Please don't tell me you like her only for her looks.”

“Who said I liked her?” I mumbled, not meeting my older sister's eyes.

“Jack, you're moving to New York to get a teaching job.”

“So...”

“You'll be in debt for a year. There are so many better opportunities here. You're moving up there so you can meet her.” Elena was teasing me now, but she knew she was right.

“And what if I am?”

“I'm going to go up to help you move in. We can meet her together.” She smirked a little at my surprise. “I need to find out if she's as bad as Evil-Ella. Though,” She looked back at the picture. “She dresses better and more modestly, that's a plus.”

“Fine.” I said, standing up. “But don't be weird.”

“Me? Weird?” She looked mock-hurt. I rolled my eyes. “Relax, I have more experience with this stuff than you do.”

“Oh. Great.” I said sarcastically. Elena laughed quietly while Mike smirked at me. Great.

Jess,

My sister is going to be coming up with me, to 'help me move in'. Really all she wants to do is meet you. She hates New York. I have to warn you, she's a bit, eccentric. At 28 years old, she has the disposition of a 16, 20 and 35 year old, all mixed together. One minute she doesn't seem to have any common sense, and the next she's lecturing me about some moral issue (Whether it be my moral issue or the mailman's!).

But she's nice. Protective, maybe, but nice.

Jack.

P.S. I forgot to mention that you are very pretty.

Jess POV:

Was it pathetic that I was counting down the days? He was moving here February 16th. I wasn't sure I could last that long without seeing him. It would be torture. I had looked for him on Facebook but didn't find anything (Did he live in a third world country? Who didn't have Facebook?). It seemed like now (November 23rd) was the appropriate time to send him my number. But what if it got sent to the wrong person? What if he thought I was being too forward? I glanced at the letter.

'...you are very pretty.” I smiled. So sweet! As for his sister? She sounded great! I couldn't wait to meet her either. I sighed. The next three months were going to go by so slowly!

Over the next week I had several tests, so I didn't write him very much. I glanced at his letters longingly but restrained myself. That only last about three days before I caved and started writing again.

Jack,

I can't wait to meet her. She sounds great. But I'm not sure if I'll come up to her standards. What if I don't?

I reread it and sighed. I had nothing interesting to say. Nothing witty, nothing important, nothing worth saying. Jack was probably already bored of me. I walked over to the back of truffles (chocolate lasts a long time) and opened it, stuck one in my mouth, and groaned. It was so good. Rich, tasty, definitely the best chocolate I'd ever tasted. I smiled and sunk back into my chair.

Life around here is getting interesting. I had a job interview at a science lab last week. I'm not sure what they thought of me, or even if I want the job. I was actually thinking about teaching. I love kids and it sounds fun.

I didn't add that I practically was a kid so being in a lab for eight hours would get boring. And being around kids would be fun.

I think teaching would be great for me, but, my parents probably expect me to become a world renowned scientist. They think I'm brilliant I guess (Which I'm not). It's probably because they can't understand a word I say.

Jessie

Hey y'all. I know, this is a pretty bad chapter. I just wanted to get it overwith. I need to fill in the three months somehow. I'll go faster in the next few chapters, promise! But, yeah. I really didn't like this chapter nearly as much as the last!!

Also! I was wondering. Could anybody tell me how to dedicate a chapter to a specific person? Is there a certain button combonation or what? :)

<3 Hope y'all enjoy and please comment! I like feedback!!!!
