Wei Chang Feng was taking Qi Le An to the most renowned roast duck restaurant in B city to repay his kindness for the other night, the chef there used to be the Executive Chef in State Banquets, the restaurant was fully booked all year round.
Qi Le An was so surprised that Wei Chang Feng was taking him here, he knew how hard to make a reservation in this place, he had only been to this place once in his last life for it was impossible to book.
Gary apologized to them after they arrived that he couldn’t join them for dinner due to some other engagement, Wei Chang Feng took him to a private room with ease. Qi Le An felt so flattered, everything felt too good to be true.
“Do you still remember when we had dinner together last time, I said I would cook for you one day?” Wei Chang Feng asked casually after they were seated.
Qi Le An nodded with a smile.
“I will, but this time I can only treat you to a nice roast duck dinner.”
Two chefs walked in with a cart, there was a duck and a set of tools in the cart. They greeted the guests briefly and began to work, it was more like a performance, they carved the duck so gracefully and served the meat with steamed pancakes and an assortment of vegetable dishes.
Qi Le An’s stomach started to rumble as he smelt the aroma. Wei Chang Feng handed Qi Le An the sliced duck and together they dived in, the aroma was mouth-watering, the meat juicy, the pancakes and assorted veggies tender.
Qi Le An and Wei Chang Feng talked and laughed, how Qi Le An wished this dinner would never end. But it was getting late, Wei Chang Feng drove Qi Le An back to his hotel.
“Thank you so much for today, Wei Sama!” Qi Le An said goodbye to Wei Chang Feng with reluctance as they parted at the hotel gate.
“No worries at all.”
“Please let me know next time you visit Hai City, I will show you around.” Qi Le An said seriously.
Wei Chang Feng laughed and nodded. Qi Le An didn’t want to catch any unnecessary attention, so he took a deep breath and got off the car.
Satisfaction and delight was written all over Qi Le An’s face as he walked into the hotel, Wei Chang Feng had made him a latte, Wei Chang Feng had taken him to dinner, they laughed so much... ...
‘Today cannot get any better!’ thought Qi Le An until he met Yan Lang and Mr. Li in the lobby, clearly, they were waiting for him.
Qi Le An’s heart gave a jolt as he saw them.
“Qi Le An! Where have you been?” Mr. Li fumed.
‘Did he found out Wei Chang Feng had taken me to dinner, but why is he so mad?’ wondered Qi Le An.
Mr. Li smelt like alcohol as Qi Le An walked closer to him.
Yan Lang who was standing behind Mr. Li sneered at Qi Le An.
“Mr. Li, I was just having dinner.” replied Qi Le An, ‘There’s nothing wrong with that, I didn’t do anything wrong.’
Meanwhile Wei Chang Feng who was about to leave had alighted on Qi Le An’s wallet that he had accidentally left on the seat. Wei Chang Feng frowned.
Mr. Li wasn’t satisfied with Qi Le An’s answer, he looked so riled up, “It took you an awfully long time to have dinner! Why didn’t you answer my call? Do you know you have both room cards on you?”
It wasn’t until now did Qi Le An realize why Mr. Li was so mad, Mr. Li asked Qi Le An to keep both room cards in the morning, so neither of them could get back to their room due to Qi Le An.
But Qi Le An found it rather odd, they could have had ask the receptionist for help.
Yan Lang chimed in, “How can you expect Mr. Li to entrust anything else to you?”
Yan Lang now looked like a changed person from the morning, he was swollen with arrogance like a proud rooster, “What are you waiting for? Go get the door, do you want Mr. Li to keep waiting?”
Qi Le An didn’t say anything, he knew they were just finding fault with him. He searched his pocket for his wallet, but the next second he turned pale for he couldn’t find his wallet.
There were not only two room cards in his wallet, there was also his ID and the anonymous SIM card! Qi Le An panicked on thinking of the SIM card. All that hadn’t escaped Yan Lang’s notice, Yan Lang screamed, “Mr. Li, he has lost the room cards!”
Mr. Li who was already in a sour mood walked towards Qi Le An, and the next second, he did something that no one had expected, he slapped Qi Le An hard across the face.
Even Yan Lang was dumbstruck.
Qi Le An’s cheek burned with pain, this was the first time that someone had slapped him on the face.
The slap had caught everyone’s attention, Mr. Li felt that attention, he looked rather pleased with himself, “You deserve that, you, useless you!”
With that Mr. Li made as if to slap Qi Le An again, Yan Lang grabbed his arms and stopped him.
Qi Le An gave them a cold look and turned away, he ignored Mr. Li’s cursing and Yan Lang’s high-pitched screaming and left.
Hatred and anger simmered inside Qi Le An, he swore he would settle scores with them, he walked to the gate, hopefully he could find his wallet. But he bumped into someone before he reached the gate, Qi Le An apologized and raised his head, he couldn’t believe who he was seeing.
Wei Chang Feng noticed his swollen cheek, “What’s with your face?”
Qi Le An didn’t want Wei Chang Feng to see this pathetic look, he covered his face and shook his head. Wei Chang Feng took hold of Qi Le An’s hand and studied his face carefully, then he swept across the lobby.
Wei Chang Feng realized what was going on as he saw Mr. Li who was still cursing and Yan Lang who showed a snicker, “It’s them, right?”
Qi Le An didn’t say anything, he just kept his head down, then he saw his wallet in Wei Chang Feng’s hand, now he knew why Wei Chang Feng showed up in this hotel.
“All right, I know you don’t want to make a scene, just follow me.” with that Wei Chang Feng took hold of Qi Le An’s hand and together they walked out and got in his car.
Qi Le An had no idea who Wei Chang Feng looked so mad, Wei Chang Feng asked Qi Le An to wait for him in the car for a little while, Qi Le An nodded and didn’t ask why.
Wei Chang Feng walked to the convenience store and bought Qi Le An an ice bag, “Here, it’s for you.”
Qi Le An felt so touched. He didn’t ask Wei Chang Feng where they were going and Wei Chang Feng didn’t explain to him where he was taking him. Even the silence in the car was quite enjoyable.
Qi Le An’s phone kept vibrating, Yan Lang and Mr. Li kept calling him, Qi Le An didn’t have the energy for them, so he just turned off his phone.
Qi Le An rubbed his swollen cheek and kept thinking about the slap, how he wished he could settle scores with Mr. Li right now, Mr. Li was in no position to humiliate anyone like this... ...
Qi Le An’s eyes dimmed for he was unable to take his revenge on Mr. Li just yet, but the coming days would be long!
Wei Chang Feng drove Qi Le An to a upscale residential quarter, Qi Le An had heard of that area before, it was developed by Sheng Real Estate. Only shortlisted people were eligible to buy buildings in the area, it had always been the most popular area for rich people. There were townhouses, houses and villas to meet different requirements. Qi Le An was amazed by the beauty of the area, it was surrounded by hills, trees, lake views.
“Shall we?” Wei Chang Feng asked Qi Le An gently after he parked his car.
Qi Le An removed the ice bag from his face and nodded, his face felt numb at that moment. He followed Wei Chang Feng to a building, they took the elevator to the fifth floor where Wei Chang Feng unlocked the door using his fingerprint.
Wei Chang Feng took out a pair of slippers for Qi Le An, “Come in, make yourself at home.”
The decoration style of Wei Chang Feng’s house suited him so well, everything was tastefully done but still reserved.
Wei Chang Feng looked at Qi Le An’s face again, he frowned as he noticed it was still swollen.
“Take a seat, do you feel like some orange juice?”
Qi Le An nodded silently. He looked around the house and he noticed there was already one pair of slipper at the door besides the pair Wei Chang Feng was wearing, so he didn’t know why Wei Chang Feng would take a pair of new slippers from the shoe cabinet. The more Qi Le An looked, the more he thought this house belonged to someone else... ...
Wei Chang Feng took a new ice bag from the fridge and said, “Let me have a look at your face.”
Qi Le An did what he was told, Wei Chang Feng stroked Qi Le An’s cheek gently to check it, Qi Le An made a grimace.
Wei Chang Feng was amused by that, he put the new ice bag on Qi Le An’s cheek, “You will feel so much better tomorrow.”
Qi Le An said, “Please let me... ...”
