"You're familiar with Hajime Kokonoi, right?"
You give him a blank expression, your eyes blinking as your mouth was slightly ajar. "So i'm guessing you are." He sighs, stopping to take in your shocked expression. "What about him? How do you know him?" You question, he starts walking again and you quickly catch up. "I've got a bit of a story to tell you." He puts his hands in his pockets, beginning the story of he and Kokonoi's friendship.
"That was... a lot." He finishes up, you've now walked for what must've been an eternity, but it felt short considering you were too invested in his story. "Yeah... I found out you had a relationship with him from Draken, I guess Kazutora must've told him while they were conversing at one point." You furrow your brows, Kazutora does sometimes bring you up in conversations with other people if he doesn't know what else to talk about, all good things of course, but he must've started rambling about Kokonoi.
"So what was your relationship with Kokonoi? Draken didn't make it very clear, just that you and him apparently used to talk." He looks over at you, the moonlight reflecting back upon his blue eyes. You shrugged, looking down at the pavement below. "It's literally just that... we did just used to talk. We weren't dating or anything, I guess we were just friends who liked each other... or, well, I thought he liked me." You tell him, he only nods in response.
"This Akane girl you brought up... you said she was your sister right?" "Yeah, Koko's first love... the reason he began working with money in the first place, but what about her?" You sigh, remembering the events that happened that day.
"Because admitting that i'm using her just to get over Akane makes me look shitty"
His words rang in your ears, you still remembered everything he said. "Y/n?" Inui asked. You came back to reality, looking over at him. "The day that we broke off our ties... I overheard him in a phone conversation. He was talking about how he was using me to get over this Akane girl, he even told me what happened with her just like you did. In the end he couldn't keep his feelings for me, he was only using me." Inui's eyes widen, but it's almost as if it wasn't out of shock... he looked sort of angered?
"I'm sorry Y/n, I guess even after all these years he still hasn't changed. I thought he'd finally be able to move on, I haven't had contact with him though so I wouldn't have known." He looks down, a frustrated look on his face. "No it's okay, he made me realize my feelings for someone else... plus he's where he belongs now." Inui instantly looks up, a confused look on his face now.
"What do you mean 'Where he belongs'? What happened?" He frantically asked, you stopped walking and turned to face him. "He's in prison for attempted murder, he tried to murder Sanzu." Relief slightly overcomes Inui, not exactly what he wanted to hear but at least he wasn't dead. "Y/n, can I ask you something?" You hum in response, waiting for his question.
"Will you take me to see him?"
You were finally home, all of the lights were off. You walked into the living room, turning on one of the lamps only to find Sanzu wasn't there. You went to his bedroom, taking a peek to see if he was there, but he wasn't. "The hell.." You whisper, making your way to your room. You open the door, only to be met with Sanzu sleeping in your bed.
You smiled at the sight and wondered if he was too out of it to realize he was in the wrong room. You quietly snuck in, going over to the other side of the bed because after all- it was still your bed. You climbed in, trying not to wake him, but just as you had settled in you felt the bed shift.
Arms wrapped around you, pulling you closer. "Where were you." Sanzu spoke lazily, his voice cracking a little. "I just went for a walk is all." You'd probably tell him about the whole thing when he was fully awake, just not now because you were too tired to talk any longer. "I missed you, so I came to your room." He cuddled up closer to you, his forehead now pressed against the back of your neck.
There was a moment of silence, you closed your eyes but then he spoke again. "Do you like my coworkers." You took a deep breath, thinking before responding. "They seem nice." Is all you say, you hear Sanzu yawn. "Yeah, especially Ami, she's the best."
After that there's no more talking, you didn't know if it was just you being insecure or not, but after he said that you were now wide awake.
1 Week Later
You were dying.
Or at least that's how it felt right now.
Running back and forth between the cash register and the bathroom was exhausting, the nausea was back again only this time you were throwing up as well. It's been happening for a few days now, mostly in the morning. "Y/n i've called Hina to come get you, you aren't in the right state to be working right now." Chifuyu told you, a frown on his face.
"I won't even argue with you because I feel like shit." You respond, leaning against the wall. "You should see a doctor, it doesn't seem like a regular cold." Chifuyu said, leaning against the wall next to you as well. You waved your hand, dismissing his concern. You looked up to see Hina's car pull up outside. "Hina's here, I should get going." You stand, gathering your things. Chifuyu walks you to the door, waving you off as you get into Hina's car. "Go see a doctor!" Was the last thing he yelled.
"My poor Y/n, want me to take you to a doctor?" Hina pouted. You sighed and rested your arm on the door, your hand on your head. "Maybe I just need some rest." "But you said it's been happening for a few days now... you said mostly in the morning?" She asked and you nodded. "Hmmm, that's strange..." Hina thought, a few more seconds of silence went by until her eyes widened, stopping the car completely. Luckily there were no other cars behind you, but the impact from the sudden stop caused you to jerk forward.
"Hina what the hell-" "We're going back to my place." Is all she said, speeding off to where she lives.
Once you both arrived, she practically dragged you inside, pushing you into the bathroom while rummaging through her cabinets. "Hina what's going on?" You let out a nervous chuckle. "Ah ha! Found it!" She exclaimed, turning around and shoving something in your face. You pushed her hand back a bit so you could see what she was holding, your eyes widening as you shook your head.
"No, no, no, nope." You said, Hina nodding in contrast. "Think about it, morning sickness, have you been getting headaches? Are your boobs sore? I was exactly like you then I took a test and found out I was pregnant." She was right, you had all of the above, but pregnant? Really? You sighed, taking the box from her. "I'm going to prove to you that i'm not pregnant." You told her. She shrugged, "You'll be a great mom Y/n!" She said excitedly before you rushed her out.
You peed on the stick, setting in down on the sink countertop. You knew you had to wait a few minutes, you just didn't realize how long it would feel. Usually a few minutes went by so fast, why did it suddenly feel like time stopped?
That's how it felt, once that eternity went by and those two lines came into view, it felt like time had actually stopped once you saw the results, Hina on the other side of the door calling your name as you just stood there in shock.
You finally opened the door, Hina noticing your face and looking at the test, you guessed this was from what happened two weeks ago in Sanzu's new office, this was the first time your birth control hasn't worked, but you brought this upon yourself since it won't always work.
Hina was definitely more excited than you, you knew the excitement would come soon, but right now you were just in disbelief. "We're pregnant together! Our babies are gonna be best friends and oh my god I can't wait!" Hina was rambling on and on, you stayed at her house for a little more before going back home to tell Sanzu the news.
Hina came inside with you, you were too nervous to do this alone. But once again, you heard faint laughing. Once again you opened the door to the sight of Sanzu and his coworker, not 2 this time, just 1. Ami. They appeared to be having a drink together, a few stray papers in front of them. "Oh hey babe you're home." Sanzu spoke, getting up to greet you. You looked over at Ami who had a slightly irritated look on her face.
"Where's Ryu." You asked, not even bothering to hug Sanzu back. "Huh? Oh he couldn't come so it's just me and Ami, she also made dinner for her and I even though I told her we could order out." He smiled. Maybe it was the hormones already, but you didn't like any of this one bit.
It didn't even look like they were getting work done, just drinking and talking... while she was super close to him yet again. And now she's even cooking in your own apartment? Taking over your job? Not to mention the irritated look she gave you. You looked over at Hina who raised an eyebrow at you. "Hina let's go to my room." You told her, she only nodded as you walked away, Sanzu being confused, but returning back to Ami instead.
"I hope you noticed that look she gave you Y/n, she looked mad." Hina spoke, pacing around your room in annoyance as you lay on your bed. "There goes my plan to tell him I guess." You sigh, maybe you were being over dramatic, but you weren't sure. "I'm sorry Y/n.... the moment got ruined." She says sitting down next to you, patting your back. You shook your head. "It's fine, will you just stay with me for a little more?" You ask and she nods, giving you a warm smile.
This wasn't important right now, what was important was that tomorrow you were supposed to take Inui to see Kokonoi. You both were supposed to go a while ago, but he supposedly couldn't get any free time.
Inui knew he probably shouldn't go see him again, after all they went different ways for a reason. But maybe just this once, just one more time he can see him again.
Which means one more time that you have to see Kokonoi again, hopefully.
