"This organisation is smart, secretive, and their agents are highly skilled combatants, so I expect all of you to focus and work to the best of your ability. I need all of you to be paying full attention during meetings from now on. That includes you too Y/N. Ahem."
You snap your head back to Fury, who has been droning on about the same investigation for at least an hour now. Heck, even Hill looks bored. The team is seated around the table for a briefing on the newest threat that endangering the world. Yipee.
"Yeah, I know. Sorry da-DIRECTOR."
Well shit. You face-palm and prepare for endless taunts from the team.
"Wait a damn second, did Y/N just call Fury DAD?" says Tony, who is currently sitting opposite you.
"What no, NO. You must be hearing things old man I said director." You exclaim in a panicked voice. Great, any chance you had of trying to play this cool now are gone out the window.
"Y/N I don't even have my hearing aids on and I still heard you call him dad."
"Oh piss off Clint." you can feel your face heating up. Fury still has the same stone cold expression on his face as always.
"Is it adopt a dad day or something, because the last time I checked, the parents are the ones who usually pick the child. Not the other way round." Tony's voice now bursting with sarcasm.
"At least I don't pick up stray children wherever I go, no offence Parker."
"None taken" quips the spiderling quickly. Peter is definitely one of your closest friends in the compound, along with Nat, Wanda and Pietro. Everyone in the compound is the closest thing you have to family.
Ever since you were brought to earth and left alone, you had to learn to fend for yourself. Over the past few centuries, it hasn't gotten that much easier. It takes a long time for you to open up to people now, already made even more difficult considering you always seem to go for assholes.
"Let's just continue on shall we." Fury continues to go over what we known about this new organisation and skip past that whole ordeal.
"They go by the name the Exonerators, we have only recently found out after eradicating HYDRA that they have been working under the radar for decades. We discovered through HYDRA's files that they are behind almost every terrorist attack or any accidental deaths that have occurred in the past 30 years. This won't be an easy task, heck it may even be harder than getting rid of HYDRA, but you're our best shot. Don't let me down."
"Have we ever let you down Fury? Don't worry, we will get them, I'm sure of it." Natasha guarantees to Fury. How she is so confident every mission, you'll never know.
"At least someone is." you hear Fury mumble to himself on his way out. He stops and turns back around in the door frame.
"Oh and one more thing, Thor's back from Asgard to help"
"You should've opened with that Fury, then maybe we would've listened to your briefing." Pietro comments cheekily and winks. Within a second, Pietro has zoomed out of the room on the hunt for the boisterous Prince of Asgard. Everyone follows suit and leaves to find Thor. You hang back with Fury and Maria.
"They should have waited." Maria whispers under her breath. Fury silently nods in agreement.
"Waited for what, what's going on?"
"Well, we need all the help we can get on this. Let's just say there may be a guest who they might feel is a little unwelcome."
"You didn't." there's no way they would have brought him back here right? "They're not going to like this Fury."
"I know." he says in a defeated tone. "But there's no one quite like him who's able to disguise themselves so believable, and we need that if this mission is ever going to work."
"AHHHHHHHHHHH SCARY MAN! SCARY MAN! PLEASE DON'T STAB ME SIR, I'M JUST A KID, I HAVE MY WHOLE LIFE AHEAD OF ME!"
A window smashes, and a shaken looking arachnid goes flying through it.
"Well, it looks like they found him, and Y/N, never call me dad again"
~time skip~
The team has gathered in the kitchen to meet the new guest, and Peter has returned, now wrapped in a foil blanket. You lean against the wall, observing from a distance.
"Everyone, I would like to introduce you to my good friend Valkyrie and my brother Loki, who I can assure you is no longer a threat." Thor's voice booms.
"Nice to meet you miss and I apologise in advance, but what the fuck is he doing here Thor?" Steve starts off.
"First of all, language. And second, care to explain what's going on Thunderella?" Tony adds.
"Well Fury needed me back for the mission, and said there would be undercover work. So I thought who better to bring than Loki?"
"That still doesn't explain what he's doing, oh I dunno IN MY HOUSE. Hell he already threatened to skin peter alive in the first minute of being here." Tony argues back.
'Here they go again arguing, over a greasy weasel no less.' you think to yourself.
'Do you truly think so little of me? I am a god you pathetic mortal.'
'Get out of my head now. Or I'll make you.'
'Oooh I'm so scared, truly terrified.'
'Then you leave me no choice.'
What Loki didn't know, is the reason you are on the team. They recruited you because of your elemental powers. You've had them for as long as you can remember. Some of the only memories of your parents that you have are of them training with you. Life was so easy back then, before they left you alone on earth to defend it as its protector. You were raised in Inisfáil, which is in the language that people on earth know as Irish, it means Island of Destiny. A fitting name, since from the moment you were born your fate was predetermined. You were raised there with the sole purpose of being sent to a planet to protect it. It is apparently the "highest of honours" as your parents said, to be selected as the Earth's protector, but you only ever wanted to have a normal childhood.
You use your air abilities to suck the air out of Loki's chest. You look over to his now red face and send air back in. He gasps furiously and the whole team looks over at him.
"Oh you're in for it now you imbecile." Uh oh. He comes over towards you, pins you against the wall and holds his dagger against your throat.
"Ooh kinky." you comment sarcastically. His grip grows stronger at your remark, but his eyes seem to widen. Even though you know you could get out of his grip by using your powers, you decide against it. This doesn't need to escalate any further. "Ok, OK sorry. It won't happen again" you spit out quickly. He releases you from his grasp, and starts to walk towards the elevator.
"Don't test me, and that goes for the rest of you too," Loki says in a menacing tone.
"That pretentious little bitch, I'm going to my room." You start to walk towards the stairs, now that the diva has decided to take the lift.
"No longer a threat my ass" Sam says with a deathly glare on the elevator doors.
"Sorry about all this Valkyrie, testosterone am I right" Nat jokes trying to lighten the mood.
"In fairness, that's pretty similar to my first experience meeting Loki and I would even go as far as calling him a friend now. Just give him a chance." your hear Valkyrie tell the rest of the group. You turn around and see Pietro giving her his best smoulder, but Valkyrie's eyes stay fixated on Natasha.
Well there goes any chance of a good first impression.
