"Thanks Tony." she shouted back
She goes to find Nat and Wanda to talk to them. Emerson finds them in the living room.
"There you are, we've been looking all over for you." exclaimed Wanda
"Well, not everywhere. Why were you looking for me?"
"As you know, Tony is having a party tonight and we wanted to go shopping." said Wanda
"Really? I mean yes, of course I'm up for it but I don't have much money and I wanted to save up for an apartment..."
"Don't worry about that, that's on Tony's credit card." Wanda grinned
"Then I have no more excuses," she joked, "let's go."
As they were leaving, Steve was looking for Bucky. He found him in the lab, looking at some files.
"What are you doing, Buck?" he asked
"I'm looking for something, I feel Emerson is hiding something.... I want to know what." he replied
"Maybe it's best to give her time to get our trust, don't you think?"
Bucky looked up at Steve, a serious face. He realized he wasn't going to be able to continue with him here.
"What did you want?"
"To talk, catch up on the last seventy years, you know."
"Good idea, let's go to my room. We'll be more comfortable."
He got up from his chair and led the way. He didn't remember everything he did with Steve, but he remembered that he was his best friend before the war and that he could trust him. Arriving in the room, they talked for an hour or two before the girl's topic came up.
"So why do you hate Emerson? I mean, she saved your life and you stabbed her." said Steve
"I know but I know her, I mean I knew her, I'm sure about that... And I can't find a memory where she was with me. It's giving me a bad feeling about her." he replied
"I think you should learn to know her, she seems like a great girl."
"Yea I don't think so. I'm going to stay on the hate."
"I like her, well I think I like her."
"Then you are the one who have to learn to know her." he smirked
Steve laugh and at the same moment, at the door, Nat and Wanda entered, the hands full of bags. They had just finished their shopping with Emerson and they were ready to get ready. Emerson went back to her hotel room to also prepare herself. She had found a long black dress, with a naked back which had a slit at the level of her leg that went up to the middle of her right thigh. She had also found red heels to match her lipstick. And in regard of the make-up, she had decided to do something natural around the eyes, as her hair that she had slightly waved.
When she finished her look, it was already 8pm. She hurried to get her keys and phone and went to her car. 30 minutes later, she arrived in front of the compound, she could hear people talking and music from outside. She entered and was immediately greeted by the girls. Wanda had chosen a red dress that reached her knee and beige heels while Nat had opted for a white jumpsuit with a rather plunging neckline but which highlighted her and some black heels. They were beautiful and Emerson did not wait to make them noticed while they moved towards the bar.
"You're gorgeous girls".
"Thank you mer, you're not bad either." smiled Wanda
"Have you been here long?" she asked
"Since the party is happening where we live, let's say we've been here almost since the beginning." replied Nat
" Well, the effect of your delay has drawn all eyes to you, mer." laughed Wanda, looking around her
She wasn't wrong, at least half the men in the room were staring at her. But what surprised her the most was that Barnes was staring at her too.
"Barnes's also staring, I'm surprised." commented Emerson
"You should go talk to him." advised Nat
"No. I'm definitely not going to talk to him."
"Too late, he's coming. Good luck" said Wanda as she and Nat went to sit on the couches, laughing
Emerson had turned around to get her elbows on the bar, she felt Bucky coming up next to her.
"What do you want from me now, Barnes?" she asked, already exasperated
"I've started doing research on you."
"I didn't know you were that into me," she laughed "so, did you find anything that was helpful?"
"So far nothing, but I'll find out."
"Yeah sure," she added as she pushed herself off the bar and walked over to Steve, who she had spotted earlier among the men staring at her.
"You were staring." she said to him
"Couldn't help myself, sorry."
"Hmm, I don't know if I should forgive you." she teased
"What can I do to make you forgive me?" he continued
"What can you do?"
"I can take you out to dinner tomorrow night, 8:00 p.m., here?"
"Sounds like a plan." she smiled
"Everyone gathers around, please." Nat shouted
Only the Avengers were left, the guests had started leaving an hour ago already. Emerson clearly hadn't seen the time, nor her drinks, but she knew she wasn't wasted.
"We want to play a game, so I propose a truth or dare." added Wanda
"Whoa, I'm not drunk enough for that, I'm just going to go home. See you guys."
She collected her things and walked towards her car. Peter ran after her.
"Mer, wait. " he said, out of breath
"Yeah?" she said, turning around "Why are you all out of breath?"
"I ran to you."
"Yes. I saw but you shouldn't be out of breath like that. Unless... have you been drinking Peter?"
"A little bit, yes. But that's not why I wanted to see you."
"God Peter, you're only 19!" she sighed "What did you want?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to eat lunch with me tomorrow?"
"Yea sure, why not."
"Hum but you have to pick me up at my college..."
"No problem, I'll be there." she finally said before taking the road
"Loki, get the fuck out of my room," she said " Why are you here anyway?"
"I wanted to apologize."
"Apologize refused, you can go now. I want to sleep."
"Please mer, I had a great time yesterday, didn't you?"
"First, you don't get to call me mer and second, yes I had a great time too, but you weren't the one who has been manipulate."
"I didn't manipulate you, I kept you busy."
"That's the same thing Loki. Now get out before I make you too."
"Fine but you know where to find me."
Soon after, she was in her bed, thinking about everything that had happened in two days: the return of her brother in her life, the reunion with May, the rescue of Bucky, the meeting of Wanda and Nat, and Steve. She didn't know what to do. But she found herself falling asleep shortly after.
"I'm here to save you." she yelled
He didn't seem to hear her, or maybe he didn't want to. He started running towards her, a knife in each hand. She didn't want to fight him, but she had no choice. She was ready. When he was close enough, she readied her power and a purple ball of energy quickly appeared from her hand. She was going to do it the moment he touched her, at the last moment. But she didn't get the chance because Peter jumped between her and James, taking the knifes to his heart and stomach. She couldn't believe it. Another member of her family dead because of her. She had to do something. She first propelled him as far away from them as possible, then tried to heal Peter with her power. It didn't work. Her power wasn't working. The only thing she could think of was her little brother who had sacrificed himself for her. And that she couldn't do the same. When she saw Peter closes his eyes, she began to scream as she released a wave of power. When she looked up, she heard her parents and brother saying that it was all her fault, that she didn't deserve to live, that she would be the end of everyone she knew and loved. Then they disappeared to let him comes in and finish his work. She didn't have the energy to fight back as she watched the icy blue eyes she loved so much pierce her.

A/N: ha i did it, i kept my promise.
Hope you guys still like the story, I'm not super happy with this chapter, it's too flat but we can't have actions and dramas every time, right?
So I don't know when I will be able to post the next chapter but it will hopefully be soon
By the way, I can make some spelling mistakes or whatever so please don't hesitates to tell me, could be really useful :)
