"Kyleeee, stoooop!" I swatted his ice cream-covered finger away from my cheek as we were watching Sherlock Holmes in the sitting room downstairs.

For others we might look like a couple of hobos having fun by now with two ice cream containers around us and another one on Kyle's hand and sticky ice cream mess on my face, thanks to Kyle.

"This is booooring!" Kyle whined from beside me, leaning his back to the couch behind us since we were sitting on the ground. "We should've just watched hangover!" He groaned like a kid he is.

You see, Kyle isn't really a big fan of movies that need a little part of his brain to understand but I needed it so bad to keep my mind off of Eli's words and it worked quite well for now.

Until someone opened the front door harshly making both Kyle and I snapped our heads to it where my dad walked in and stomped his feet towards us with fury in his eyes.

Oh no. This can't be good.

"Dad?" I asked, slowly getting up from my comfortable position. Kyle, sensing the tension, stood up from beside me and smiled anxiously at him.

"Mr. Cooper." He said almost inaudibly.

Dad, however, ignored Kyle and stared deadly to my eyes. That was when I know I'm dead.

"You weren't at school. You better have a good enough explanation." He said, glaring at me. There's only one person to blame for this. Yes, Julia.

Too much for forgetting Eli's words.

Before I could open my mouth to explain, Kyle already beat me to it. "She went to the hospital." He said, though dad still kept his eyes on mine and I, him. "Her knees, remember?" Kyle continued as he didn't get any respond.

"Stop being on her side, Kyle. She doesn't go to the hospital. I'm his dad." He said, glancing a mere second at Kyle.

"It's true, though. She went to-"

"I'm asking her!" Dad cut Kyle off, making Kyle took a step back and shut his mouth tight. Dad then stared at me with an eyebrow raised. "So?"

"I did go to the hospital." Hie raised his eyebrow even more, if that was possible. "Kyle told me to." He glanced at a blushing Kyle and back at me, his eyebrows now furrowed. I sighed and stared at Kyle. "Kyle, you can go home. I'll deal with him myself." I told him, feeling indescribably sorry for putting him in that position.

"You sure?" I smiled and nodded my had assuringly. He then took a deep breath before smiling back at me and bidding a goodbye to my dad and I and turned around to leave my house.

"Kyle," I rolled my eyes as dad stopped Kyle's steps right before he could open the door, but then the next words that came out of his mouth surprised not only him. "Thank you." He said, still staring at me. I was trying my hardest to hold back a smile though I know I was failing.

I saw Kyle grinning behind dad and I smiled even more at that. "Anytime, sir." He smiled at me before turning his head back around but then dad stopped him, again.

"Oh and..." He smirked at me before saying his next words that surprised me even more. "Call me Nathan." It felt like my eyes bulged out of their sockets and I knew the same thing happened with Kyle's.

The thing about my dad, is that he never let any of Travis's not my friends to call him by his first name saying it's not polite and all. So that, that was new.

After a few seconds though, Kyle finally opened the front door and left my house. When I was sure Kyle had left, I slapped my dad's chest hard, making him chuckled at it.

"What was that about?"

"If you ever think about doing the deed, do it with him." I shrieked at his words, while he was making his way to the kitchen still chuckling as if it was a funny thing to say.

"Ew, dad! We did not just have that conversation!" I shouted from the living room, stomping away to the staircase.

"I'm just suggesting." He shouted back at me. Oh God, why did I even choose to live with him?

"Well, then stop suggesting things." I muttered before shouting again from my room this time. "I'm going to sleep!" And slammed my bedroom door shut.

Once I was in my room, I looked at my bed and sighed in relief.

Finally. Sleep.

...

"Lilllll, stop itt! You know how much I hate this song!" Kyle whined from behind the wheel as I changed the station back to where they were playing Naughty Boy's La La La claiming that that song was creepy. I will never understand my best friend.

He then changed it to some random news station and so I changed it back but the next thing he did was overly childish. He pushed the car horn and never did he took his thumbs off of it. I laughed so hard at it as the only car in front of us stopped the car.

"Kyle, stop!" I said in between laughs but he only pouted and shook his head no, that was until the man opened his car door and both of his hands were finally down to his laps, so did mine.

However, as the figure of that man came into view, I rolled my eyes and sighed. Of course, it was just my luck.

He knocked on Kyle's window and I turned my head to the other side, avoiding him. Kyle then opened the window and sighed in defeat.

"I'm so sorry, man. I was just messing around with my girlfriend here. I didn't mean to annoy you or anything." That's one bad habit of this handsome Kyle here. He always told strangers that I am his girlfriend, saying he don't want people to think he's stuck in a friend zone but unfortunately to me, this man's not a stranger.

"Lillian?" Okay, perfect.

"Oh shit, he knows you?" Kyle whispered from next to me and I facepalmed myself at how dumb dumb my best friend is.

I, then, took a deep breath and turned my head around to see the one and only, butthole.

"Butthole." I forced a smile and greeted him in return. His face was serious. He was staring at me then glanced at Kyle for a moment before bringing his eyes back at me.

He finally cracked a small smile but soon his eyes bulged opened as if he remembered something. "Lillian. Will you--" no no no.

"Oh! Look at the time!" I said, cutting him off. "Kyle, we'll be late to school. I'm sorry, butthole. I'll see you later, okay? See ya!" I turned Kyle's steering wheel despite the weird stares I got from both Kyle and Eli then telepathically telling Kyle to move, which thankfully did work since he then turned to the other side after giving Eli a small unsure smile.

After we left, I kept my head down, not sure what I was supposed to say to Kyle if he ask and I knew he was stealing glances at me, asking for explanation.

"Okay, you can stop staring at me." I mumbled, not turning my head to him.

"Well, I will if you start talking." I bit my bottom lip and kept myself silenced for a few moment until Kyle sighed and that actually made my heart clenched. I don't want to lose Kyle. Not anytime soon, not ever. I don't want to disappoint him.

"He's my doctor, Kyle." I said, finally looking at him. He furrowed his eyebrows at that and so I continued. "Let's just say I've been avoiding him because he wanted to talk to me and I'm scared." Okay, that wasn't entirely a lie. I already knew that I had cancer but I knew he wanted to talk about biopsy and all and I was beyond scared.

"Lillian--"

"No, Kyle. Please, don't beg me. I'll deal with it when I'm ready." I cut Kyle off and he pursed his lips, nodding slowly.

...

"There you two love birds!" Hannah, the oh-so-cheerful kid in my biology class surprised both Kyle and I as we walked into our class, his arm around my neck.

"Hey, Hannah." I smiled at her, trying my best to match her cheerfulness.

Ever since I heard that I had a monster growing inside me, being cheerful is one thing that I'd been forcing myself to do. And seeing Hannah, I miss it all. I miss my old time.

Hannah, then, smirked at Kyle and I before informing us, of course, cheerfully, placing one of her hands on my shoulder and the other on Kyle's. "I want to invite you two, personally, to my party this Saturday!" She jumped up and down, clapping her hands repeatedly. "You'll come, right?" She smiled so bright, with hope written all over her face.

I turned my head around to look at Kyle and he was already raising both his eyebrows. That's when I finally made my decision. It's now or never, I thought to myself.

"I'm so sorry, Hannah. I have something to do this Saturday." She frowned as I told her so and I smiled apologetically at her.

"Then I won't--" before Kyle could finish his words though, I cut him off.

"Oh but Kyle will come." I smiled at her and her face lit up. I could feel his wide eyes on my side but I ignored him and focused on Hannah.

"Oh oh okay! Can you also ask your hot brother to come?" She asked me with those wide hopeful eyes. I believe that was the only reason she asked me to come on the first place. Well, that was nice of her.

I chuckled and reasoned, while making my way to my seat. "I don't think he'll be up for it though."

"At least tell him about it." She said, following me close behind.

I put my backpack on the chair and turned around to see her. "Okay, I'll let him know."

Her grin was brighter than before as she hugged me tightly. "Thank you, Lil!"

So much for having real friends.

"What the hell was that for?" Kyle whispered-yelled from his seat behind me, leaning himself across the desk.

I rolled myself and took out my phone from my jeans pocket. "I wasn't going to make you stay at home only because I can't come, Kyle."

"Yeah, but I don't want to go without you."

"A lot of girls are going to come. Just chill out and enjoy the party." I turned my head around and smiled at him sweetly, receiving a sigh as a reply from him.

I then turned my head back around and began typing out a text.

To: Eli

Saturday. Take it or leave it.

And his reply was faster than I thought it would.

From: Eli

Take it. Thank you.

You see, that's what I love about life.

There's no turning back.
