Mockingbird

I am a mockingbird,
Still young,
Still learning my song.
I sing many tunes, not afraid to
Try something different.
I take many kinds and meld them together,
Making a style all of my own,
Unique.

I fly about,
Searching for the unknown,
    The unseen,
        The unpredicted;
Always looking for something shiny to bring back to my nest.

I love being home, in the predictable,
The unchanged.
But only to prepare to launch myself into
Another adventure,
    Another quest,
        Another chance to complete my song.
