SEVERUS STEPPED HIS FOOT ON THE TRAIN. He knew, that this step would change his world a lot, possibly even turn it upside down. Only then did Severus felt the changes that were about to come. What if he still ruins his friendship with Lily? What if the torments of the marauders would be worse? He was becoming nervous.

Snape must have stood frozen for some time, because he heard Lily caugh behind him, revealing the five other people that want to enter the train, but can't, because he is standing in the middle, blocking the peoples' pathway from moving in the train. He swiftly moved inside and went right to a compartment they sat in the first time they were going to Hogwarts. Severus couldn't lie, he was happy and excited to go there at first, but then the marauders happened and his excitement lessened. Then he started working there and all the excitement was completely gone. He remembers when he was a first-year, he was very excited to go to Hogwarts, and later he always looked at other students and thought 'oh just you wait...'. But even after some students came back from their first, and even fourth year, at least some of them always seemed happy. He couldn't understand these fools then.

Now he is excited himself. He'll go there and change Lily's future. He'll keep her alive!

Snape slid open the door. He was right, the compartment was empty. He took a seat and Lily sat right after. She sat near him and they started talking. Well... More like only Lily talking and Severus simply listening.

"Eeek! I'm so excited, Sev! I did make it into a magical school! That's amazing! Gosh, I hope I do good! Do you think the food is good in Hogwarts? I really hope it is! Do you think that they have pudding? And chocolate? Gosh, I love pudding... What am I saying, they must have it! Do you think we'll make friends? I hope for at least two more! Not that I don't like you anymore, Sev, but making more magical friends would be amazing! Do you think the teachers are nice there?" - she rambled more with herself than him. Severus sometimes nodded but stayed silent. He would probably say too much. He was smiling like quite a dork too. Gosh, the child's innocence and excitement.

He laughed and at the same time, the door swung open. Awfully messy hair was the first thing that caught Snape's eye.

He stopped laughing and looked at James Potter from head to toe.

Birds nest, slightly crooked glasses, hazel eyes, that stupid dorky smile. We can't forget the incredibly messy clothing and shoes, which of only one was tied in a somewhat bow-knot.

He looked awful. He glanced back at Potter's face and saw his lips moving, eyes meeting Severus' ones.

He was talking.

Wait... He was talking!

"-mes Potter. I am really sorry for falling on you... I couldn't find a compartment, so do you think I could sit here?" - the boy asked. Severus guessed that he introduced himself first. Why did he have to come here? Annoying brat.

"N-" - Severus was about to disagree and send him out, as far away from their compartment as possible. He didn't want Potter near Lily so soon. But Lily sadly thought otherwise. She very lightly jabbed him in the ribs and glared at him, showing her disapproval.

"Yes, of course, James. Come here!" - Lily cut Severus off and smiled, while still being able to glare at Snape, telling him not to be mean anymore and give at least a bit of energy into being nice. Severus rolled his eyes and grumbled while taking a book out of his trunk. He noticed the curly-haired bastard looking at him questioningly and he glared. Potter sat next to Lily, obviously uncomfortable with Severus' stare. Lily sighed and Severus averted his eyes and turned his attention to the muggle book. The book's cover was nice, all white with green and blue lines all over it. It created a beautiful pattern of a mountain. He traced his long, thin fingers over it.

Then he opened it. 'The Hobbit, or There and Back Again' was written on the cover. He smiled softly to himself. He liked that book a lot. He has read if a few times, but he couldn't help but reread it. And he would enjoy every reread just as much as his first time. Severus skipped to the next page and was about to start reading when the compartment door snapped open again. Sever is mentally groaned. Really, more unwanted people? And now they were stopping him from reading a great book? He secretly took a glance at someone who opened the door and his body froze.

Sirius Black himself was standing in the doorway. Remus Lupin was not so far behind.

Sirius Black wore a suit that was most likely the most fit for a proper Black. With a bow. He really did look like an emo clown. The stupid werewolf was dressed in quite shabby clothes consisting of a shirt a few times over his size and a little too big pants. And also a face full of scars. One went through half of his face and ended at the corner of his lips. It was quite obviously new. That boy must have gotten them at his last moon, probably worrying about the school and other pupils finding out.

"Hello! I'm Potter! James Potter. And you?" - the stupid boy introduced himself. Severus wanted to slap him or do anything that would shut him up. It seemed that the Black wasn't going to answer soon, so the werewolf Remus Lupin spoke up first.
"I'm Remus Lupin." - he said shortly and stiffly.

"So... You are Remus Wolf?" - James Potter asked curiously, not noticing the dark change in Remus' expression and the slight frown that overtook his face.

"I'm Lily Evans!" - Lily introduced herself with a bright smile and gave her hand to Remus, which he gladly took. That boy must have really appreciated the distraction.

"I shouldn't be talking with people like you. I shouldn't even be near people like you!" - the boy jugglingly looked the people in the compartment over and then smiled. - "And that's great. I am Sirius Black."

Potter looked at him questioningly, not knowing what to make out of it, but then he smiled and gestured for the boys to sit in front of Severus. It seemed that only then did the two boys saw the raven-haired boy calmly sitting in a corner, reading a book. Both of them waited for an introduction, but sending that it would never come, Lily chose to do it for him.

"That is Severus Snape, my best friend. He and I were the only magical people around in our town so of course we became friends. I didn't know about magics' existence, so Sev thought me a lot." - she giggled and sent a smile at Snape. He didn't lift his eyes, but his corners quirked up a bit, but Lily's smile brightened, indicating that she saw it, and it was enough for him to know that he did nothing wrong. Everything was okay.

"So... You are both muggle-borns?" - Potter asked and quirked his eyebrow up.

"I am! But..." - Lily looked at Severus, asking for his permission to tell the boys. He shrugged and the redhead continued happily. - "But Sev's mom is a witch and she tells him a lot of stories that he, later on, tells me! If what Sev told me is true, then the wizarding world is awesome!"

The boys giggled and smiled at Lily. She was obviously going to be friends with him. Severus sighed quietly and tried to read the book in his lap, but it didn't work out. The words seemed blurry and Severus just couldn't pay attention to the story. He was getting anxious.

"What did you mean when you said that you shouldn't be talking to people like us?" - Lily questioned. That girl didn't know anything about magical families.

"My mother and father would be really disappointed but I don't care. Fuck them!" - Sirius Black said quite fiercely and seemed to be starting a rant, but got interrupted by Lupin's 'language'. Black gave a hard glare to the werewolf and then continued his soon-to-be rant. - "They don't like mudblo- muggle-borns. I don't know why, but they think that only pure-blood wizards should be allowed into the magical world. Ew. They also want me to be in Slytherin! That's also ew!"

"What's wrong with Slytherin? Sev told me that people that are ambitious, determined, and focused on goals go there, and being a person with any of those traits isn't bad?!" - Lily looked at the boys questioning me and asked, not understanding the detest Black showed Slytherin. The said boy scrunched up his face and looked at Severus with something like disgust and confusion. Then Sirius turned his attention to the read head girl.

"That house is evil! Don't you know?! All bad wizards were there! All of the baddest, most evil people learned there!"

"Yeah. My parents said that the house is filthy and likes to cheat! I think it's full of slimy snakes!" - Potter added his similar opinion to Sirius Black's rant. Sirius nodded and Lupin simply turned his attention to a book he had taken with him, just like Snape did at the start of the journey, not showing any interest in joining the discussion. Severus didn't want to argue with these dense idiots so he didn't reply.

"But wasn't Merlin a Slytherin? I thought he was a good guy?" - Lily questioned, not understanding anything anymore. Her face scrunched up in confusion.

"W-well... He is-... Um..." - Sirius Black stuttered, not knowing what to say and James was only capable of gaping like a fish, not knowing anything he could add to prove Slytherin's evilness.

"If you have no arguments, don't get into a debate." - Severus sneered at the boys and was about to turn his head to the book, but Sirius spoke.

"Yeah right, and I can guess that you want to be a Slytherin and learn dark arts to kill people!" - he spat hatefully. Severus put on a calm expression as he could and turned to Black.

"You are almost correct. I do wish to be in Slytherin, I think that it's a fascinating house. Learning dark arts wouldn't be bad either. I would truly like to know the things we might come upon in the future. And about killing people. I have no intentions of doing that soon, unless I find a very valid reason." - Snape explained calmly, each one of his words seeming to piss the young Black more and more. At the end of his little 'speech' Black was frowning and James Potter only seemed to be intimidated.

"Do you truly think that we will need to deal with dark magic in the future?" - Lily asked, concerned about her and Snape's safety. 'Oh Lily...' Severus could only think.

"I truly wish that we wouldn't need to, but we cannot be completely sure, the future is a thing that is forever unknown." - Severus answered simply without actually answering the question, but of course Lily didn't notice. She nodded. Her concern wasn't gone, but it wasn't as bad as it used to be. After a bit of silence, James Potter spoke:

"Which house do you want to be in, Lily?" - the boy turned his full attention to Lily and asked.

"Hmm... I don't mind being in any house... I like Hufflepuff the most, but Ravenclaw is awesome too!" - she answered after some thinking. - "What about you, James?"

"I want to be a Gryffindor, just like my parents!" - Potter stated proudly and put a hand in his chest, most likely on his heart. Lily giggled at the action and the wavy-haired boy gave her a bright smile. Severus wanted to vomit. Here it is, the start of their relationship. Ew. He must have made a face of disgust and Potter's smile was instantly wiped out of his stupid face. Sirius let out a snort.

"So you think that Slytherin is better than Gryffindor?!" - Black asked, clearly losing his cool.

"I never said that." - Severus replied simply, not wanting to get into an argument with a stupid, brainless, and selfish Sirius Black.

"But that's what you are implying! Gryffindor is better than Slytherin, my bitch mother was in Slytherin! I will change the tradition and be a proper Gryffindor!" - he declared with a red face, furious about Snape's calmness in this situation. Black was obviously looking for a fight, and he chose Severus as an opponent. Severus did not mind fighting with Black, but he will do it in secret, playing an innocent sheep.

"Well that is your opinion, Black. And your motive for liking Gryffindor is interesting, but no one asked." - he said and Lily hit his ribs with her elbow. He winced a little bit but was back to his composed self in seconds. Black was really angry at him and Severus couldn't help but smile. He got what he wanted.

"Is something wrong? Did I say something a Gryffindor can't handle?" - he remarked and gave a Cheshire's grin.

Sirius stood up and grabbed Snape's collar. Everyone turned their attention to these two immediately, even Lupin left his book. Potter slowly started standing up, ready to get Sirius off of Snape.

"You stupid halfbloo-" - Black started saying an insult angrily, but a book flew to his head, hitting him. He immediately let go of Severus and started rubbing the part of his head that the book hit. Lily gasped. Potter had a very worried expression and his eyes were darting from the book to Sirius, and then to the person who threw the book.

Remus Lupin.

He had a very angry expression on his face, his eyes fixated on Sirius ones. Sirius wasn't truly looking at the werewolf. His eyes were concentrated on the spot on the floor.

"Finish saying it." - he spat at Sirius, voice full of hatred. - "I dare you"

"B-but, Rem, he-" - Sirius Black was trying to explain desperately, but Remus' glare shut him up immediately. He seemed to be thinking for a few seconds and looked to the floor.

"I- I'm sorry! I lost my temper..." - he said, while looking up at Remus, then Severus. Severus sighed and turned back to his book. Remus Lupin also sat down and rested his head on the window. He heard Lupin sigh and saw a bit of mist covering the window because of the warm breath Remus let out. Potter got up and gave the book back to Lupin. Then the ride was quiet for some time until Severus felt eyes on him. He looked around and saw Potter looking at him, while Lily was telling the idiot about her summer.

"What is it?" - Severus asked annoyed. What did that stupid boy want now? To stare at him and think of pranks that would ruin his life?

"W-what?" - Potter stuttered, but his eyes didn't leave Severus. Snape noticed Potter tense and he knew that the boy was beginning to get nervous. Potter's cheeks became red from embarrassment.

"You were staring at me" - Severus stated and Potter finally averted his eyes. Now the bushy hair owner was as stiff as a board.

"I- I was not!" - he declared, but the statement didn't seem true at all. Severus only rolled his eyes and then raised one of his eyebrows.

"Spill it."

"I- uh... You look pretty... Uh... Pretty cool! I didn't mean that! Sorry! Well, I do mean that but... Uhhhh- I think Remus would fit in any house! hehe-" - the boy with glasses panicly shrieked and then awfully tried changing the subject.

'Potter is stuttering, huh? I never thought that the playboy would ever do anything like that' Severus thought. Plus, the stuttering was funny.

Remus raised his head and looked at Potter boy questioningly. Why would he be added into a shitty try to compliment Severus? Lupin sighed and went to sleep with his head resting on the back of his seat. Severus soon went back to reading and Potter chose to speak to Lily. Snape wasn't too happy about them both talking, plus, Lily seemed to have made the idiotic bully blush. He didn't want to lose her that soon, but he felt tired. Sadly, he would have to allow them to talk this time because Snape felt tired. He laid his head on the window, watching the passing fields. Severus closed his eyes and seen fell asleep.
