Everyone sat at the dining table as they await for m/n and osamu to serve the foods, they wanted to help after all they did crashed at the manager's place but he insisted and wanted only osamu to help him.

As every plate of food was placed, they all started to eat their fill, while enjoying a casual conversation and of course, the never ending banters between the childish second years resulting into another earful from m/n.

── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───

Everyone sat at the living room, watching the two boys play in the console, as one struggles to defeat the other they couldn't help but laugh and be in awe to see their manager enjoying himself.

He is often seen uptight and formal that they sometimes couldn't help but pity him, they concluded that the boy had a rough upbringing resulting into him maturing at such a young age but alas, no one knows except for his best friend kita. But of course, he, himself couldn't disclose the reasoning as to why the boy was like that. It was not his place to tell.

"You seem really good at this game, m/n-san"

"i sure am, i spent so many hours just to perfect this combo and watch my opponents rage quit"

M/n boasted, giggling to himself as he remembers the people he crushed during online matches.

The third years only sweatdropped as they imagine the devilish look at the boy as he proceeded to whoop atsumu's ass.

"Its weird that m/n-san could quickly change his mood in a span of milliseconds"

"Not really, you just haven't been with the right people that's why you aren't used it yet."

Akagi didn't understand what aran told him but only shrugged as he knows himself that he would only be more confused if he asked more question and instead darted his attention towards the male.

The said male is now resting beside him, it seemed like he has given the twins and suna the controllers to take turns with. Probably to shut the other two up.

"So, how are you feeling today m/n-san?"

"Hm? i'm fine akagi, thanks for asking"

He patted the libero's head as his eyes never left the second year's place. He felt the need to watch them or else something could happen to his dear console.

"I-im sorry for what happened to your father..."

"It's fine, akagi, atleast he's in a better place now."

M/n immediately answered, it was obvious that the boy was avoiding the topic of his deceased father and was trying to put a smile infront of them. Scared to show his vulnerability.

"You know, it's fine if you want to cry...We won't judge you or pity you..."

Akagi rubbed m/n's back as he sensed that the boy's mood dampened, he glanced at the second year and looked like they were still engrossed with the game so he took this opportunity to console the male.

"I know, but it's rather useless to cry about it. My tears will not change the outcome of my father's future. What has been done has established."

Akagi pursed his lips as he feels a bit frustrated, he felt incompetent.

"But if you keep bottling up, it's gonna be more dangerous when it gets too much for you."

He pressed on regardless of what m/n had stated earlier, he was motivated to rely on him.

"I know, but it's gonna be my problem, not yours, not everyone's but mine."

"Fine...You're really stubborn you know that right? But if it ever gets too much for you, i just want you to know im here and ill always be here. Free of judgement."

M/n looked at akagi and smiled.

"Thanks, i'll take note of it."

Safe to say it was enough to make akagi's heart burst into a million pieces as he cherish the memory of m/n smiling because of him.

"N-not a problem...! m/n-san..!"

── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───

A week has passed and it seemed like his parent agreed that he can bring his teammates, seeing that he considers them as family.

Soon enough they arrived at the airport and was fetched by m/n's mother and her agents. Safe to say they felt like an undercover boy group that is here for a concert or interview.

"My son! oh! and Shin my! my! you've grown to be a fine young gentleman..!"

M/n's mother greeted them with such enthusiasm, a bit weird for someone who just lost his husband. But i digress.

"Why must you bring your agents, ma?"

"I have to bring them because i don't want you boys bringing your bags after a long flight..! you all are expected to be exhausted, so it is my responsibility to make sure you guys won't get sick while you're in another country"

While the mother-son tandem is arguing, the others couldn't help but be amazed that m/n's mother could have such people working for her. She must be really working hard here.

"Welcome boys, i'm sorry that you visited us at a very unfortunate time but your presence is welcome here."

She started as they gave the team a tour of where they are staying, a hotel? no. an extra house that was supposedly for m/n.

"This is a very beautiful house, ms..."

"Why thank you dear, what's your name?"

"A-atsumu miya.."

"Well, atsu-chan, i want you to call me auntie from now on, okay?"

"y-yes..mom.."

'lucky bastard!' Everyone thought as they watch m/n's mother interact with the setter in a intimate manner.

"Well, this house was supposedly for my son, it was supposed to be his gift when he turns 20 and have his life planned out! but life has a different opinion i guess..."

Everyone was shocked, they never knew that m/n was rich even more rich rich! He could've moved in here a long time ago and have him set up as a golden student in a private school yet he chose to stay...

"Shin?"

"Yes, mom?"

"You'll be sleeping in the same bed with m/n, is that okay? the bedrooms isn't sufficient enough and one has to sleep with m/n since he has a bigger bed"

Kita nodded and thanked his mother.

Well, to kita, m/n's mom is his mother. whatever m/n had, he'd always be given the same thing. They were equally loved by this lovely woman.

"Great! just like the good ol' times!"

Kita smiled and agreed with the enthusiastic lady.

"Okay, i'll give you boys a time to settle yourselves and if you need me i'll be downstairs, okay? okay."

With that, the enthusiastic lady left them to let the boys explore on their own and be familiarized with the place.

"M/n's mother is so different from him, huh?"

Akagi nudged kita thinking it was aran or ohmimi.

"Not really, m/n's mom is just like that because she's hiding the pain and sadness she's feeling. It's what she do everytime she's sad when we're younger."

Akagi eyes widened as he turned to see that it was kita that he had nudged not aran.

"I-i see...i guess it runs in their blood huh"

"I guess you can say that..."

"But still she was good at acting, i never would've noticed that she was faking it until you mentioned it."

Aran joined in, as he matches kita's speed in walking.

Kita nodded, "indeed, but often she's formal as well..."

At first aran and akagi didn't believed him-- well refuses to believe him, i mean m/n and his mother couldn't be that much of a resemblance, right?

"You'll see later once you see her talk to m/n about some matters."

And he was right.

She started talking like how m/n would when he's in his managerial mode.

"I'd like to thank you boys for keeping my son busy all these year we're gone, and now that his father...has passed away, he'll be more...lonely..."

"I know you kids might be wondering, why can't i just go back to japan and live with m/n, right? sounds easy, right? But i can't. I cannot leave the company me and his father had worked so hard to grow, i wouldn't be able to sustain his studies and secure a good life for him if i sacrifice it all for the keeping my son with me.."

They all had mixed reactions with what m/n's mother was saying, some were appalled some were pitying the two of 'em and some understood. It was a mess of opinions.

"So i'd like to give a preposition for all of you."

She walked towards the big wall that has the family portrait of theirs.

"I would like you all to take care of my son, in exchange, i'll secure your futures in the volleyball industry. and if you're not pursuing a volleyball career, i can offer college admissions to the top schools in japan or here."

She could do that? that's what they're all thinking, she was a powerful woman in the eyes of these teenage boys, think of it as a female deity gracing her loyal followers her presence.

That's what they look like right now.

"It's your choice, i have connections with the coaches and personal trainers in japan, so securing a career for you kiddos is a piece of cake."

They were tempted, but at the same time they feel inflicted. It's not that they don't want m/n to be their friend, they actually do, and they even want him more than that.

It feels wrong.

"We are truly humbled by your offers but on behalf of my teammates and i, i would politely decline."

Silence. Everyone was shocked at the answer that kita gave.

"We don't need offers for a good college admission or a secured place in the volleyball industry to be friends with your son. Never in our life did we ever think to use him as a leverage for our career. We will carry on being his friends, possibly even more than that, but that's m/n's choice and no matter what happens we'll stick by his side."

M/n's mother stood shock as she her tempting offer was rejected. She couldn't help but laugh.

"Are you sure? it's a one time thing ya know"

"It's enticing but no, it's wrong auntie! and we were taught by m/n-san that if we want something we can earn it! and we will earn it even if it means struggling for years."

Atsumu backed kita up, surprising m/n's mother and his teammates as well. Soon enough they all agreed and supported kita's decision.

'my god, what a wonderful friendship did my son established' She thought to herself as she pulls out her phone to call someone.

"Yes..Mhm, secure the calls for all of them."

"Looks like you all passed my test."

"What...?"

"The test, i was seeing if you really are m/n's friends, seeing that you guys stood up for him is quite astounding, im happy to see that my son has friends like you. Oh, and i've already secured your school admissions to a college of your choosing. Don't worry ill pay for your tuition aswell"

"You shouldn't have-"

"Oh shush, shinsuke! think of it as my thanks for all of you! i have not been a great parent to m/n and in this way i'd like to do something for the people who helped m/n when he needed us, his parents the most."

M/n's mother showed a sad smile as she turns around and leave the boys.

"Oh and m/n's gonna be here any minute, so treat this conversation of ours as confidential, okay?"

And with that she disappeared from the room and after a while a loud sound came to a halt infront of the house.
