"Ok, you'll be stay with me, Skylar!" Dawn says. She grabs my hand and leads me down through the pokemon center, leaving the boys behind. We enter the room 256. Dawn heads into the bathroom.

"This girl is full of energy," Absol says. I nod. Absol nudges me with his head, the looks out the window. Swellow is perched on the window.

"What are you doing here, Swellow?" I ask/shout.

"Meh, it was boring flying around the city so I stopped bye!" Swellow responds. It's still hard to believe she evolved yesterday. It feels as if she's always been a Swellow. I roll my eyes, taking out my brush. Houndour and Weavile pop out of their pokeballs.

"Thought I heard Swellow," Weavile says, crossing his arms. I sigh and roll my eyes again. These pokemon.

"Can we let her in?" Houndour asks. I look at him as if he's crazy. The same look he gave me earlier.

"Are you crazy? Sorry, Swellow. But, Dawn doesn't know I have Swellow. Don't want anything to happen," I say.

"I'm tired. I'm ready to go back into my pokeball," Swellow says. I open the window and return her. A nice breeze comes in. I feel peaceful, until, of course, Dawn barges in.

"Why did you open the window?" Dawn questions. "It's cold in here!"

I shut the window.

"I'm gonna take a nap. Wake me up when you want to leave for dinner. I know a pretty good place," Dawn says, flopping down on one of then beds. She curls up while I go into the bathroom with my back pack.

"HEY! CAN YOU HERE ME?" I hear, no joke, Swellow's voice. What the?

"Uh, yes? I respond.

It works! There's this thing that let's me talk to you!" Swellow says. Oh, brother. I never get a break, do I?

"Cool! I have to get ready now," I say, smiling. I must look like an idiot who talks to herself.

I turn on the water. It's been awhile since I've showered, so I might as well do so. When I shower, the purple hair dye runs down and into the drain. I'll have to replace it again. I scrub off the dirt. I've been traveling for 3 days now, 2 days since I met these people. I feel that they are my friends.

I step out of the shower, wrapping a towel around myself. Then, I pull the hair dye out. The label says "APPLY ON DRY HAIR ONLY". Great, I'll have to go out without half my disguise. Yay.

I replace my contacts, my vision blurring for a moment when they aren't in. I roll my wrist and get changed into new clothes. A red t-shirt and jean capris. Glancing at the mirror, I see most of my hair dye is still intact. I'll be fine. My hair is brushed through quickly. It's easier now that it's short.

I walk out the bathroom and see Dawn is still sleeping. Absol, Houndour, and Weavile are all curled up on the bed together, watching TV. I'm surprised Dawn hasn't woke up yet, with all the racket my pokemon are making. I sit down on the bed next to Weavile, smiling.

When I look at Houndour again, I think of that question. Why hasn't he evolved? Why? He's so strong, very strong. I'm really proud of him, all that we went through together.

~Flashback~

"Hey, Mark? Why do you have so many more pokemon than me? I only have two and Sneasel hates me!" my 10 year old self asks Mark.

"He really does hate you! He won't even talk to you!" Absol snickers. I glare at him.

"Not sure. Maybe cause there are less dark types?" Mark answers. Suddenly, grass rustles around us. A Houndour jumps out. Mark pulls a pokeball out. I act right away.

"NO! I wanna catch Houndour! He's a dark type!" I shout. Mark looks at me, and puts his pokeball away.

"Go! Absol!" I shout. Absol gracefully jumps on the field. Houndour growls at me.

"Absol, tackle!" I shout.

Houndour uses flamethrower while Absol tackles him. My eyebrows crunched, I command another tackle. Houndour uses Dark pulse.

"Absol, use sucker punch!" I shout. Absol quickly runs to Houndour, but it has no effect. What? Houndour uses sunny day. Great.

What shocks me even more is the beam of solar energy that comes flying at Absol. Solar Beam? Did he just use solar beam?

"Use return, Absol!" I yell. Absol charges at his foe. I smile. Absol is so strong! I really love him! Houndour uses flamethrower, which is powered by the sun. Absol narrowly dodges it but hits the return.

"Night slash!"

Absol charges at Houndour. The attack hits, but it looks like it did no damage. Houndour lands a super charged flamethrower at a barely standing Absol. He must be tired, and Sneasel won't listen to me to save his life.

"I got this!" Absol says. "Just believe in me! I can do it."

He must be crazy, thinking about using that move. But, he does.

Beautiful, melodic music note appear in the air. Yup, he did it.

Perish song.

The notes surround Houndour, and hit him. Nothing happens at first, but in 3 turns, Houndour will faint. And I'll be able to catch him.

"Absol, night slash!"

Houndour releases a powerful flamethrower as Absol goes to attack Houndour again. 2 more turns, Absol, you can do it.

Another flamethrower. Another tackle. 1 more turn. The sun goes out.

A dark pulse. A pyscho cut. 0 more turns. Hounour faints.

"YAY!" I cry, holding Absol.

"Uh, Skylar. You may want to catch Houndour?" Mark says. Oh, crap. Forgot.

"HEHEHE!" Absol laughs, doubling over while I catch Houndour.

Click.

Click.

Click.

Houndour was caught.

~End of Flashback~

I glance over at Weavile. He's laughing for some reason.

"What's so funny?" I ask him.

"TV," Weavile remarks, "can't believe no one got that joke!"

"That joke was corny!" Absol argues.

"Shut up! I haven't seen this episode yet!" Houndour complains.

"Houndour?" I say.

"Yes?"

"Do you want to evolve? I mean, you're really strong, but I'm wondering why you haven't evolved yet."

"Of course I do! Now that I think about it, it is strange I haven't evolved yet. I beat Weavile in a battle!"

"That's because you have a type advantage! And plus, I evolved from an item," Weavile argued.

"You used to hate me", I say, grinning at my pokemon.

"True. I don't get how you made me to like you," Weavile comments. I lean over and check the time, wanting to know. 6 o'clock. I should probably wake Dawn up so we can leave for dinner. I really like all these people. They made me feel welcome.

"I think it was because I gave you food," I comment. Weavile has one big appetite. But, not nearly as big as Houndour's.

"Maybe. Or maybe it was because you showed me how to beat a fire type?"

"The world will never know!"

"Very funny," Weavile says. Smiling, I unzip my back pack. I dig around in it for a bit. Aha! Found it!

"Guys, look. Remember when I used to draw a lot?" I ask.

"Yeah. You made us stay still for hours when you drew us! And the pictures were..." I shoot Houndour my look, "awesome!"

"I found my old notepad," I smile. Everyone crowds around to see it. The first picture was one of all my pokemon, including Taillow, grouped together. The next was Mark's pokemon. Charizard, Talonflame, Flareon, and Vulpix. He also has a newly hatched Fennekin.

"Look, more!" I say. Stetckes of different pokemon, trees, and pretty much anything you could imagine located in this notepad. I guess I was a pretty good drawer. Considering even Houndour was happy with the outcome.

I hear rustling on the other bed, were Dawn was sleeping. I closed the notepad.

"Huh," Dawn speaks, "did I miss anything?"
