gyuri watched the young girl vibrate in the seat a few away from her, only two of them at a table. "sola!" a nurse called, quickly softening her breath after exhaling through her nose. "dear, have you eaten your lunch?"
the girl with straight black hair shook her head wildly, eyes falling on the short ravenette as she smiled. "we like her. she's pretty! like us." gyuri smiled bashfully, watching closely as the young girl, sola, went back to eating her food.
as the nurse turned to attend to another... patient, sola dropped her chopsticks and stuck her hand out towards the elder. "hi! we're sola, sola saito! we're in because they think we're crazy, but we're not!"
gyuri found herself intrigued in the way the girl spoke, accepting her hand nonetheless. "i'm gyuri. i'm here cause i wanna die."
sola's eyes darkened for a split second before brightening to rematch the giant grin covering her face. "cool! we should try to survive all together! we want to travel! and become a tattoo artist! ooh, and a bartender! we want to do it all."
the ravenette found herself chuckling, silently placing her own bread roll on sola's empty plate since the younger girl gobbled hers up.
"you know, i'm a bartender. they're really kind there; the boss even let me take a break so i could here and get better."
her words were dull and unenthusiastic, but sola's eyes still widened and filled with sparkles. "woah! that sounds amazing! when we get out of here, can we join you?" gyuri nodded slowly, "sure. so we better get better as quickly as we can."
the girl beamed, "yes, yes! let's do that!"
not a second after, the bubbly girl's entire body slumped as if a thousand pounds were thrown on her shoulders. she sighed, ignoring gyuri's concerned antics as she dropped her chin on the table.
"oh, don't worry about us, this happens sometimes. they say we have cyclothymia, but we don't think so. we think we just get really tired really fast."
gyuri nodded again, jumping a bit when the young girl suddenly reached forward and grabbed her hand before pulling it towards her head, dragging the ravenette with it.
wordlessly, sola placed gyuri's hand in her hair and forced the older to curl her fingers, gyuri spotting a small smile appear as she began stroking the girl's hair. something about it reminded the elder of her sister and the thought making her smile.
"how old are you?" gyuri found herself asking, voice quiet and gentle as she ran her fingers through the girl's cleanly cut hair. "we were born in 2003! we look a lot younger than we are." the ravenette giggled, agreeing with the latter's comment as sola propped her head on the folded backs of her hands. "what about you? you're new here, right?"
gyuri hesitated for a split second. the innocent glimmer in the other's eyes brought back memories of her first date with hendery. there wasn't any reason why, but the elder's stomach aggressively flipped with guilt.
sola blinked and gyuri cleared her throat, "yes. i joined a few days ago, but this isn't my first, uh, vacation."
sola nodded briefly in understanding, but her mind was clearly elsewhere. "do you get visitors? we don't get visitors anymore. no one wants to see us, it makes them sad."
the ravenette's heart clenched at the bitter comment, her fingers pausing in the girl's hair for a split second before moving again as if nothing happened. "not yet, but perhaps soon. i only want one friend to visit me. his name is renjun."
sola's eyes stayed trained on gyuri, her lips pressing into a sort-of smile. "renjun... we like that name. he doesn't sound like he's from around here, just like us!" the elder chuckled lightly, head snapping to the side when a hand appeared to collect their discarded plates.
when the nurse met the ravenette's eyes, she smiled. the smile was so warm that it filled the girl with a sense of comfort, perhaps even hopefulness. "is there anything else i could get you ladies?" she asked in a voice just as kind. gyuri shook her head, pulling her hand from sola's hair, who whined at the loss of contact.
"well then, we have activities set up in the living room if you'd both like to join. we will be making stress balls!" the younger girl instantly beamed like a child, nodding and brushing herself off as she stood. gyuri remained seated for a bit longer, smile drifting back into an unconscious frown.
the delicate touch of a hand on her arm caused her head to snap upwards, and the ravenette was met with that same, kind smile. the corners of the girl's lips quirked, and she slowly brought herself to her feet.
"thank you ms..." glancing down at the small metal rectangle pinned to the woman's chest, gyuri raised her gaze back towards the nurse. "ms. young." the said woman nodded sweetly and pointed out where to go before bidding the patients adieu.
sola reached over to grab her new friend's hand, squeezing it tightly as she gave gyuri a wide smile. "don't worry! whatever's making your mind sad will go away soon, we're almost 87% sure of it!"
the ravenette muttered a small thank you before following the younger towards the living room.
