Cameras kept flashing as the group of seven boys came on the red carpet along with the little girl, looking smaller than she actually is, between the tall men. Her eyes kept scanning around the place, confusion glinting with the bright lights of crowds of people with cameras around them. The black and white dress and the matching headband on her hair falunted her cute personality even more tonight, making her look like a little doll in the human form.
Aera looked up, tugging on Jimin's hand and extended her arms up. The brother carried her instantly, patting her back as she kept sticking to him, overwhelmed with the amount of unwanted attention and noise there. The boys stood in the center, letting the photographers be satisfied and take pictures all they want.
For one, the cameras flashed more furiously for it was Aera's first ever appearance on the red carpet as an artist herself. And for two, let's be honest, every breathing being needed Aera x BTS moments.
"Sir, we need some solo shots." One of the directors said.
Jimin glanced at the four-year-old, sighing softly as he knew it was a request for both BTS and Aera. He smiled and placed her down on her feet, making her pout instantly and reach up again, "Oppa..." She whimpered, raising her arms up for him to carry her again.
"We're right here, princess." Jimin smiled and took her hand, making her stand alone for a moment. "They want Riri's pictures, smile for them."
The kid glanced at the cameras, not smiling yet, but waved her hand, remembering how the managers and her oppas told her to do in an official gathering. Once seeing that she was okay, Jimin stepped back, taking his position between his boys.
"Aera, do you want a candy?" One of the cameramen shouted, gaining full attention from the girl.
Her eyes searched for the owner of the voice, "Candy?" She said, pointing at the crowd while glancing at her brothers with a smile. The cameras flashed vigorously, not wanting to miss this golden opportunity of capturing Aera's natural and voluntary smile, which made the boys chuckle.
"Yeah we'll get a candy, let's go for now." Jungkook said, holding her hand and headed further inside the venue where the Award show was organised.
The band was nominated for five wining music categories along with a live performance of their latest record-breaking single. While Aera was nominated in the top child category after marking her first presence on World Television.
The Armys cheered loudly, waving their Army bombs in the air as soon as the boys and Aera arrived. The group bowed towards the audience's, smiling in gratitude before taking their respective seats on the artist side. Aera slipped down from Jungkook's lap, standing on her own while looking around the place.
"Aera!" She heard a feminine voice and turned around smiling instantly on the group of four girls coming her way.
"Hello little baby," Lisa said, quickly crouching down near her and gave her a hug.
"Hi" Aera giggled, looking at her and her bandmates as the four bowed slightly to the seven bows, and they did the same.
"Aw you look so pretty, Aera." Jenny said.
"You pwetty too." Aera said, making girls chuckle at her cuteness.
"Ah really? Thank you, should we take a picture then?" Rosé suggested. Aera nodded, smiling widely as Jisoo snapped a selca.
"I have something for you," Jisoo said, pulling out a candy and gave it to the four-year-old, making her smile.
"Thank you!" Aera chirped, raising her candy towards her oppas, showing them her treat.
Their attention shifted towards the stage as the host started the event, earning a mixture of cheers and applauds. Blackpink took their leave and Aera sat with her oppas again, busy with the wrapper of her candy as it was coming in the way of her enjoying the sweet treat.
"Koo," She looked up, showing it to Jungkook and said, "open it, pwease."
"Riri's got the best job," Yoongi said, chuckling at the kid's nonchalant self, more interested in her candy than her surroundings. Jungkook smiled knowingly and removed the wrapper before handing the candy back to his sister.
The award show was going smoothly with a few worthy awards of the day and the first performance by Twice that became the only thing that had the abilty to have Aera's attention. The four-year-old was visibly having fun, dancing in her place, standing between Jungkook's legs, with her candy in one hand, smiling widely and clapping.
The camera panned on her, making the crowd and even the rest of the artists break into loads of aw's and cute's on seeing the kid's reaction to the nine girls. Jimin and the boys chuckled, glancing at the big screen that showed Aera's excited self.
The performance on the stage and Aera's performance to herself, was over and she leaned back on her brother who made her sit on his lap, "Are you tired?" Jungkook asked, keeping her tiring dancing in mind.
"No," She shook her head, "when will oppa go there?" She pointed at the stage.
"In a while." He said, "Do you wanna see us perform?"
"Mm-hmm," she nodded, "Koo singin' anpanman an-and we havin' party."
Jungkook laughed and shook his head, "Koo's not singing Anpanman baby."
"which song?"
"Idol," He said.
Aera nodded, "I like Idol."
"Yeah? Thanks." He chuckled, stopping for a moment as he heard the host announcing their name, making the fans cheer on top of their lungs.
"Bangtan Sonyeondan!"
The group stood up, bowing towards the audience and their fellow artists who congratulated them. Jungkook carried Aera in his arms, heading up to the stage with his members to receive their award.
"Thank you," Namjoon said, bowing along with the six boys as the presenter, Cha Eunwoo, congratulated them.
Aera looked at the man, standing on one side while BTS gave their acceptance speech. The kid smiled at the older actor, waving at him which made the audience coo at her adorable and innocent behavior. Jungkook and Eunwoo exchanged glances, smiling at Aera who had unknowingly stole all the attention to herself, not even letting Jin complete his words of gratitude.
"Alright, I guess our little star is getting bored with the long speeches huh?" Jin chuckled, making the audience laugh as well.
Eunwoo chuckled at the kid who was looking at the shining award that Suga handed to her, while savouring her candy at the same time. The boys thanked everyone one last time and bowed before getting down the stage.
They went back stage to their dressing room, as it was time for them to perform in a while. Aera was sitting on the couch after finally finishing her candy and now playing with the hair dryer that she took from one of the stylists.
"Oppa," Aera called in her little, high-pitched voice.
"Ah what did you do to your hair, baby?" Jimin laughed a little.
"I'm styling my- my hair," She said, pointing at the mirror and laughing.
"Yeah sure," The brother sighed and glanced at his stylist, "Noona, can you fix her hair after this please?"
"Sure," the lady smiled.
"Alright, everyone ready?" Namjoon asked as the members gathered, nodding their heads as a yes after fixing their microphones and making sure nothing was left undone.
"Stay here with noona okay?" Jimin said, patting Aera's head.
"I wan' watch oppa!" She whined, standing up on the couch.
"You can watch them from here too, Aera." Jimin's stylist said.
"No, from outside... with a'mi." Aera said.
"Some Armys are watching it on TV too, princess." Yoongi assured, "you can watch it like them okay?"
Aera thought for a moment before nodding her head, finding the older rapper's idea acceptable. The boys headed outside the room as the group's name announced on stage and the fans started cheering for them.
The girl sat watching her oppas performing Idol, while the stylist worked on fixing her hair. She would frequently clap her hands and try to copy the choreography or sing gibberish in her own tiny language, which the staff and even the fans really enjoyed. Having small clips of Aera cheering for BTS go viral worldwide in a matter of minutes was no big deal in the fandom.
"Yayy!" The girl cheered loudly, clapping her hands as the boys entered the dressing room, sweating after their performance, however smiling instantly on getting such an adorable welcome.
"How was the performance? Did you like it?" Taehyung asked, sitting near her while taking a sip of water.
"Yep! Love it!" Aera nodded vigorously, hugging him from the side.
"Boys get changed, they're about to announce the winners soon." Their manager voiced. And just as said the seven members got changed, gathering in a few minutes as they went out of the room, seeing other artists backstage who had performances and some just showed up to meet others.
"Hey Rapmon!" A masculine voice filled in, "Suga hyung!"
The boys turned around, seeing a few (now, former) members of GOT7, namely Jackson, Mark and BamBam. The boys greeted each other, smiling and shaking hands, while Aera stared at the three men with her round, doe eyes shimmering as she recognised one of them.
"Bammie!" She chirped.
"See? She knows me not you!" BamBam smirked at his hyungs, stepping forward near the girl and shook hands with her, "How are you doing, Aera?"
Before the girl responded, Jackson had pushed the younger member away and stood in his place, smiling at the kid, "Hey pretty baby, I'm Jackson Wang from China." He said, extending his arms for Aera to come to him.
"Jeon Aera," She said, but didn't go to him.
"Who doesn't know you," He chuckled, "Where are you guys heading to?"
"Back to sit with the others." Namjoon replied, "We're done with the performance now so."
"Yeah I guess we should get going too," Mark said, patting Aera's head, "And congratulations on your win and Aera's nomination. It's really a great achievement at such a young age."
"Thanks," The boys smiled, "Ri, say thank you to Mark Oppa." Taehyung said, diverting her attention from playing with BamBam and Jungkook.
"Thank you," She said.
"Aw you're adorable." Mark chuckled, cupping her cheek.
The three soon left and BTS entered the artist zone again where the group won four more awards until the show moved towards the movies and dramas category. However Aera wasn't bugged about the stress that her oppas were facing when the nominees for the Best Child Artist were announced.
The girl had taken off her left shoe and climbed on the couch, playing behind the boys, while they sat with their fingers crossed, feeling more pressure than they ever felt for themselves in award shows.
"The award for the Best Child Artist goes to" IU said in her mic, glancing around the venue and smiled at the audience, "Jeon Aera!"
BTS gasped, almost jumping up from their seats after hearing the result. The crowd was cheering which soon changed into them chanting Aera's name loudly, making the artists surprised by the amount of fans the four-year-old already has.
Jimin stood up, slightly bowing to the audience and the artists nearby who congratulaed him for his little sister's success on her debut film. With a proud smile plastered on his face, he carried Aera, pecking her lips, making her giggle happily.
"You won, baby." He said.
"Riri!" The girl gasped, pointing at the big screen that showed her face along with her brother's proud one. The boys did a group hug, before sending the brothers up the stage with Aera to recieve her very first award.
"Congratulations," IU smiled, patting Aera's head, holding out the prestigious award.
"Take it," Jimin said, gesturing for his sister to take it from the older girl. Aera did as he told her with a confused expression and passed it to Jungkook, making the audience chuckle.
"It's yours, princess." Jungkook said.
"Ah where should we start?" Jimin said into the mic once the crowd had quiet down a bit, glancing at Aera who busy looking at her left foot that had no shoe, "Thank you everyone for this. I know Aera doesn't really understand how much this means. But I'm sure she'll be really thankful to all of you, for choosing her as the best child artist. Really, thank you so much."
The crowd cheered again as Jungkook stood in front of the mic, smiling at his sister's award in his hand, "Feels like a dream," He started with a chuckle, earning a loud roar of cheer from the fans, "I wish Aera could give an acceptance speech herself. But that's like a long term goal as of now."
"From her being a part of this movie and starting her journey in the industry, it wasn't easy to be honest. Being a four-year-old is hard, I learned it from her. We used to get so many calls during her shoots, if she's not putting on the outfit, or not crying for an emotional scene, being too cranky, or if she fell asleep midshoot. I'd say thanks to the whole team that worked so hard with Aera and made sure she was comfortable. And of course to the fans, thanks a lot everyone, please keep showing your love and support for her in future too."
The crowd cheered again and Aera giggled, spotting Park Seojoon among many artists and waved at him for he had played her father in the movie. The actor smiled, waving back at the kid.
"Do you wanna say something?" Jimin asked, looking at Aera as he stepped near the mic, adjusting it in front of her mouth. "Like thank you?"
"Thank you," Aera chirped.
"for giving me this award" Jimin helped.
Aera looked at him and nodded, "...for givin' me award?"
"Yeah," He chuckled, "and I'll work hard."
"I' work hard..." Aera repeated, making the audience melt in their places as a lot of aw's echoed throughout the venue.
"Good," Jimin smiled, patting her back, "Now say I love you all."
"Love you!"
"And a kiss?"
Aera nodded quickly pecking his lips and smiling widely, earning loudest roar of cheers and squeals from the people tonight. Jimin shook his head, holding his laugh and nodded his head towards the audience, "to them, kiddo, not me."
Jungkook was standing beside Jimin, laughing lightly at their sister's innocent way of impressing people without even realizing it. The four-year-old sent a flying kiss to the audience and then to five of her oppas sitting down. Taehyung and Jin returned her kiss, making her cackle happily on the stage.
The brothers smiled at IU, bowing slightly to each other before getting down, heading back to their members while thanking the artists who congratulaed them on Aera's win.
"This was the best part of today." Hoseok chimed, hugging Aera's small body as he made her sit on his lap.
"I can't tell you how happy I am right now." Jimin breathed out, smiling widely.
After a few more minutes Aera was feeling less energetic now, her eyelids dropped frequently, falling asleep bit by bit as she sat with Jungkook. The kid shivered a little that the boy felt and glanced down, touching her cold arm, he took his jacket, covering her tiny body with it and laid her properly in his lap.
Award for the best director was being given to the director of the film Aera debuted in. It was indeed worth watching, the film had won several awards tonight. The director was standing in front of the mic, delivering his thank you speech for everyone.
"-especially to our cast," He spoke, "Seojoon-ssi, Hyekyo-ssi, Shinhye-ssi, Minho-ssi and of course our rising star, Aera. C'mon can I request all of you to be up here on the stage with me?"
The actors and actresses smiled at their director, getting up from their respective seats and went upstage. Their eyes travelled to find Aera who was having a peaceful nap in her brother's arms, making them chuckle.
"I see, our Aera is tired after a long day." The director spoke, making everyone smile. "Well- Ah let her sleep Jungkook-ssi." He said, smiling at the brother who was about to wake her up.
"This film is one of my best experiences. Having such a great team to work with is a pleasure really. I must say I already miss the shooting days and the fun on set, especially when there was this kid, Aera. Thanks to her nobody ever felt tired and we were able to complete everything nicely."
"People ask me what it feels like to direct someone so young, and I say it's fun and challenging. You can force any other person to do a scene, but not a child. She'll do what she wants and if she's not in the mood, forget about the shooting." He chuckled.
"I feel like I should apologize to BTS' label for disturbing their schedules often to borrow one of the boys for my shoots." Everyone including BTS laughed at the director's words as it was a common scene, as Jungkook mentioned too, for the boys to be present at the set, so that their princess was comfortable.
The crowd cheered and applauded loudly, too loud for the kid as she startled awake, her lips puckering into a pout and eyes fluttered open, that showed on the big screen as her tiny fist rubbed her eyes. A sob left her mouth, looking up at her brother who patted her back to calm her down and avoid having her crying in an award show just because her nap was disturbed.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. Please don't cry." The director said into mic, while the audience was quiet, melting in their places with all cameras turned towards Jimin who carried Aera, holding his laugh, just like the others and assuring his sister that she can sleep later.
"Don't cry, baby." Jimin said, "Look, everybody's watching you. You're a good girl aren't you?"
"Aera, we have a lot candies for you backstage." Seojoon said in his mic, smiling at the little girl who instantly forgot about crying and looked at him. "Yeah, let's go get them." He said and walked towards the end of the stage, motioning his hand for her to come.
Jimin exchanged smiles with the older actor and left Aera on her feet, seeing her quickly run towards the stairs. Seojoon carried her and smiled, taking her hand and made her wave at her oppas.
"Tell them you'll meet them later."
"See you later!" Aera said waving at Jimin, "I will b'ing candy for Koo!"
The people laughed at the sudden upliftment of the kid's mood. the celebrities walked down the stage while Seojoon took Aera backstage with him, telling his staff to get her candies right now.
Aera looked happy, walking towards the exit as the show was over, holding a box of chocolates and a lollipop in her mouth. Her smile doubled on seeing her oppas waiting near the exit as she waved at them.
"Aish! You got a lot of stuff hmm?" Jimin chuckled, ruffling her hair and looked at Seojoon. "You didn't have to hyung."
"It's nothing, Jimin." The actor said.
The boys bid goodbyes with Park Seojoon, heading towards the car while the cameras were still flashing. Aera sat with Jungkook and Taehyung as the two shared her chocolates, making her whine when they had too much of it.
"I'll get you more tomorrow." Jungkook said.
"Stop acting like kids, you two." Yoongi sighed.
"Park Seojoon hyung-nim gave it to her, it's no less than an award hyung." Jungkook muffled, eating the chocolates with Taehyung who nodded in agreement.
"It's mine!" Aera cried, hitting the two boys and snatched her box away, carefully shifting towards the elders and turned around, sitting with her back facing Jungkook and Taehyung, and continued eating her chocolates.
"She's more happy with the chocolates than she was with the award." Hoseok laughed amusedly.
"Kids are amazing." Jin smiled.
"Today was great." Jimin said contended with the events that occured and all that went smoothly except for a little cranky tantrum from his sister. But that doesn't count now, for the good things were more and at the end of the day everyone was happy.
