George Lee is a man that knows that no matter what goes wrong, a lot of people in the world have it worse than him. He knows that he's considered to be on the luckiest side of the spectrum in life, and though his favourite thing to do is to complain until he can't anymore, he's very considerate of the way he sees things.
A couple weeks ago, his manager let him know of a young mother who had sent the company an email in the hope that whoever read it would be able to help her succeed in passing on a message to George. Her daughter was sick and in the hospital with something that could not be cured. Her birthday was coming up and her one wish in life was to meet her favourite person, George Lee of the group BTS.
The mother didn't expect George to drop his schedule and rush down to see her daughter, but she was hoping that she could get a video message from him to show to the young girl on her birthday.
That didn't sit right with George, and he made the decision not film a video.
Instead, he managed to convince his manager to clear his schedule for at least a couple of hours on the day of the girl's birthday and headed down to see her.
Escorted down to the young girls hospital room, they met the mother outside and she almost dropped through the floor when she saw the George Lee walking beside the nurse, a casual smile on his face with his manager and presumably a bodyguard trailing behind them.
"Oh my goodness! You really didn't have to go to the trouble of coming here!" The mother had tears in her eyes as George embraced her, caressing the back of her head as she weeped into his shoulder.
Confused by the commotion, her tired husband stepped out of the room to see what was going on and his jaw dropped open when he saw who was holding his crying wife.
George soon greeted him too.
Once the tears were done outside of the room, he was allowed inside and his heart melted when he saw that the girl was sleeping soundly. She held a pillow in her arms, and he couldn't help but chuckle quietly when he realized that it had his face on it.
Upon hearing his chuckle, her eyes slowly opened and squinted to adjust to the light. Groggily, she glanced around the room until her eyes landed on him.
"Holy-" she stopped herself, blinking rapidly as if she was trying to wake herself up. "Am i dreaming?"
George shook his head. On any other occasion, he would've been sarcastic but this time, he decided against it. "Nope, you're not dreaming. I'm really here! Happy Birthday, Suna!"
The second her name rolled off of his tongue, the tears welled in her eyes.
George cooed. "Ah no, none of that."
He opened his arms and she shot up into a sitting position immediately, which made him laugh at how eager she was to hug him. She held onto him tightly, her eyes tightly shut as she relished in the moment of being in his arms.
"You give good hugs, even better than I imagined!" She boasted, not wanting to let go.
George didn't force her to let go either, he was going to stay in her hold for as long as she needed him to.
Confused as to whether that was a compliment or not, his tone came out confused. "Thank...you?"
"You're welcome!" She chirped.
Finally, she let him go and George took the seat beside her bed and held her hand. She was in high spirits, but he could tell she was tired and it broke his heart.
"What are you doing here?!"
"Well, your mother went to great efforts to get my team to surprise you on your birthday. She's really cool," George told the young girl, who smirked.
"Do you have a crush on her? I will make her leave my dad if you do!"
George snorted. "Oh is that so? Do you rule the house then, Suna?"
"Of course I do!" Suna replied sassily.
Suna was full of charm, and she kind of reminded him of J-Hope. It was the light in her eyes that brightened up the room, and the angelic grin that just made you want to smile along with her. She had a similar aura to him, and George found it utterly adorable.
"So, since it's your birthday and a very special one too since you're now ten years old! Double figures! I just had to get you some gifts."
The newly ten year old let out a gasp.
She loved gifts.
George's manager and bodyguard carried in two big bags filled with gifts for the young girl whilst her mother cried from gratitude in the doorway.
"I got you some BT21 merch because who doesn't want my precious BB?" Suna loved BB, he was her favourite BT21 character. "But I also got you some other gifts too."
The bags were set down on the bed away from her legs so she wouldn't be hurt but close enough for her to reach in an grab things, which she immediately did the second she got the nod of approval from George.
Chungha and Chaeri had been the ones to get her the classical stuff for a ten year old like hair things, dolls, arts and crafts, etc. But George and the rest of the boys had picked out some bigger things for her.
She pulled out an Nintendo Switch and nearly choked.
"Oh my goodness!" Her mother cried from the doorway. "She's been wanting one of those for so long. We couldn't get it, it was out of our budget- thank you."
George gave her a mindless smile. "It's all good."
The next was a special ticket. "What's this?" Suna asked, peering up at George with big confused eyes.
"That is a special ticket, a one of a kind ticket made just for you!" George started, taking her free hand. "That is your pass to spend the day with me and my members. Now, it's not clear whether it will have to be a live face time call or in person just yet but my members really want to meet you."
Suna erupted into tears, falling forward so that she could hide her face in George's shoulder. At her reaction, he felt himself get teary eyed too. Caressing the back of her head, he willed himself not to cry.
"This means so much, thank you!" Suna's father spoke for the entire family since everyone was now crying.
"It's a pleasure to do this, im happy your wife got in contact," George explained.
After a few moments, he pulled away and wiped the tears from under Suna's eyes.
"I have one last surprise for you."
She stared at him, urging him to carry on.
"A little birdy told me that you really love dogs, and apparently you really like to watch videos of my dog, Pluto. Is that true?"
She nodded eagerly. "He's so cute! I like it when he jumps on you and kisses you! Because it makes you happy, so that makes me happy."
George heart swelled.
"Well, after a lot of convincing, i was able to get permission to bring Pluto in here just for a few moments to see you. Is that okay with you?"
George didn't even need to ask, Suna was nodding before he had even ended the sentence. Chuckling, he turned his head to the door where his manager was now walking in with Pluto in his arms.
Manager Sejin handed Pluto to George, who then carefully set him down on the bed but held him just in case he got too hyper and ran at Suna. Though, what surprised George and his staff the most was that Pluto was the calmest he had ever been.
Almost like sensed he needed to be gentle.
He was careful as he stepped towards Suna. Slowly, he settled down in front of her and let her pet him.
Shocked, George glanced at his manager and bodyguard. They looked just as surprised.
"Pluto is never that calm," Sejun explained to Suna's parents. "He gets excited around new people, it's almost like he knows he needs to be calm."
George watched pridefully as his dog bonded with the young girl, gently kicking her hand when it came in contact with the side of his face.
"I have never seen him this calm before," George addressed his manager in amazement, pulling out his phone to text the members.
"Do you want a picture with him, Suna?" Sejin offered, and the girl nodded her head.
"Me or the dog?" George joked.
"Both!" Suna replied.
George moved so he was now standing beside the bed, his arm around her. Pluto sat in her lap, staring directly at the camera with his head cocked to the left.
When it was finally time to leave, George gave every family member a tight hug and well wishes.
"That was fun! She was adorable, wasn't she Pluto?" George chirped as he got into the car.
The once calm dog immediately switched personalities and began jumping all over the back seat onto his owner whilst barking happily. Pluto was chaotic again.
George sighed.
"The peace was good while it lasted."
