The car crashed into her from where she didn't know but something was telling her that she wasn't going to make it; that is was her time to leave this word. The next this she registers is voices, and all she can think is how shocked she is that she lived or at least for now she has. She feels arms pick her up then nothing.
"What is she doing here?"
"No idea, I'm more curious about where she has been all these years."
"Don't tell Bill, he will go crazy."
"The only reason we know its her is her birthmarks if those were covered we would have no idea"
"Well, lets get her out of here. Get her to the hospital then I will get a hold of Nico."
They nod and head off to the hospital, after getting her situated there telling the doctors what was up. They start to head out again.
"Stay here Tonks, I'm going to get Nico."
"Why not Bill?"
"Because Nico will watch over but not take over his life, if she never wakes up it will consume Bill's life, he already spends half his time looking for her."
"Just get back quickly Charlie" Tonks sighs running a hand through her purple hair.
Charlie nods and his head and Blinks out of the room. The next place he is seen is scaring the crap out of a guy with fire red hair.
"Damn it Charlie I could have burned you!"
"Nothing new, I work with Dragons" The redhead shrugs.
"What's up, what are you doing here?"
"Me and Tonks found Mari."
"You aren't joking right? You found my baby sister. Is he okay."
"We brought her to the Hospital, she was unconscious when we found her, if it weren't for her birthmarks we wouldn't know it was her."
"Why not?"
"Her hair is brown and well she doesn't have a thing of blue on her that and she never took the necklace from Bill off and she didn't have it on."
"The hair we were born with was brown, so that isn't too strange but she liked her blue hair. If she was trying to Hide she wouldn't wear things that identify her."
"Her watch was broken so I saw her wrist one, as for the one by her eye I had to use magic to make sure it was there."
"Well let's go, we are keeping this from Bill right."
"Until we are positive that she will wake up."
Nico nods and they head to the Hospital. Nico is right at his sister's side as the doctor comes in.
"Which one of you is family?"
"I am, I'm her brother" Nico says.
"We will try everything but we are unsure if she will ever wake up."
"Please try everything first, she has already been missing for three years I don't know what I would do if I officially lost her."
"Of course, but I do warn you if she does wake up she may not have any memory"
"Understood."
The doctor leaves and Nico sighs before getting up and turning to Charlie, who looks just as upset as him. Maria was a sister to him as well and Tonks was like her best friend other than Lily.
"The fact that she is here does not spread to anyone else. My dad won't care and Bill as well as Lily will do nothing but be here."
Tonks and Charlie agree hoping that the girl in front of them wakes up soon they missed her and this was not having her back in their lives. Nico ushers them out saying there was no point in being there at that moment. They knew that was true and went back to work.
The three of them would stop by as much as they could but it has now been three years and they were starting to lean towards not waking up. They didn't know how long she was out when they found her. Right now though there was someone else in her room staring at her in shock. He had a bouquet of her favorite flowers but it was just by coincidence, he was visiting the coma patients. It was something to relax him, he liked helping. He set up the flowers and sat at her bedside.
"I brought you, your favorite flowers. I didn't even know you were here. I'm glad you are safe though. I would like to know how long you have been here though and if you will ever wake up. I miss you so much. Where is your blue hair? Who knows you are here?"
"Me Tonks and Nico, we had our reasons for not telling you. She has been here three years now."
"Charlie! Please just tell me why you didn't tell me."
"You would have done nothing but sit here, you have already basically put your life on hold I wasn't going to watch you throw it away for someone who may not wake up and if she does she may not have any memory."
"I guess you are right, but still."
"Bill just don't throw your life away, I'll see you at the Burrow mum wants us over for dinner."
Bill nods and turns his attention back to Maria, taking her hand in his. Charlie watches them sadly before apperating out and to Nico to tell him that Bill found out. Later right before dinner Charlie goes back and pulls his brother from Maria's side and to the burrow knowing he wasn't going to move, and that wouldn't have made their mom happy.
Its not until another year goes by that Maria makes any sign of waking up. Both Bill and Nico were chatting with each other about their jobs sitting on each side of Maria. Bill looks down at her just as her head starts moving and her hand starts grabbing for something. Bill lets her take his hand and she squeezes it looking like she is in pain. Nico runs out of the room and grabs a doctor.
"Oh my, I didn't think she would even get close to waking up." The doctor awes.
"Do you think if we visit her more she will get better." Bill wonders
"That is a possibility, But don't put your life on hold it is a big if"
"Okay thanks doc."
The doctor nods and does a few tests before leaving. Bill and Nico decided to make a schedule for people to visit Maria over the next month or so to test if people talking to her and being near her would help.
At the end of the month Bill and Lily were both visiting Maria when her eyes started fluttering, they both watched her in hope. She tilts her head and starts grabbing for something as her eyes start to open. She closes them again before groaning and rubbing her eyes with her free hand.She then tries to sit up but her hand slips and she falls back.
"Bloody hell, well help me and stop staring."
"Alright Love just breath," Bill chuckles letting go of her hand helping her sit up.
"Love thats a new nickname,"
"Why do you say that."
"How long have I been out?" She asks, ignoring his question.
"For years but you were out when you were found so it could be longer, before you were found you were missing for three."
"Shit okay, has the doctor been called?"
"I'll go get him"
She nods and Bill gets up leaving she then turns to Lily who is watching her curiously. Maria lets out a sigh.
"Are you my best friend?"
"Yes, I'm Lily Foire, do you have any idea who that is?"
"I want to call him Bill, is that correct?"
"Yes it is, He is your guy best friend and the boy you love you werent dating yet though."
"Oh! Okay."
"Maria what do you remember?"
"Miss Foire, has a good question," the doctor says coming in.
"Different random things, I had to ask Lily who she was."
"Do you know who I am?" Bill asks, sitting next to her again.
"You are my best friend, my curse breaker, but that is it I don't have a last name but I know looking at you makes me smile."
"At least you know that, do you know anything about yourself?"
"You have to be more specific than that William"
"Last name?"
"Umm Frost, I have a brother named Nico"
"Yeah Frosty that would be me" Nico smirks from the door.
"Oh shut it Flame brain and come give me a hug."
Nico makes his way to her, giving her a hug and takes Lily's spot. Lily promises to see her later but had to go.
"You better come back Flower girl, we have to catch-up its been seven years."
"You got it Ice princess."
Maria smiles sadly as Lily leaves, The doctor finally stops looking her over and leaves as well but says he will check back later. Maria just starts playing with the sheets on her lap not knowing what to say to the boys next to her.
"Hey snowflake breath everything will be okay, we will work on your memories." Bill says
"Are all these Nicknames a play on my last name or is there a reason for them?" She says angrily.
"Mari you are a water elemental, you used it for ice and snow, you abilities made your hair blue so the fact that it is brown confuses us." Nico explains.
"So you are fire based on your hair."
"Exactly, you also have your snowflake birthmarks." he says lifting her left wrist to show her.
"Where is the other?"
Nico smiles and pokes just under her right eye. She reaches up and touches the mark herself. Tears start to slip down her face Bill quickly wipes them away and pulls her into his arms. She just starts sobbing, confused about everything not liking that she doesn't know who she is. After a bit of crying she drifts to sleep in Bill's arms. Bill carefully lays her back down on the bad.
"I'll be back later. I have some things that will help with the memories."
"I'm staying with her until I get kicked out."
Bill nods and heads out leaving Nico to look over his sister. Nico sighs and pushes his sister's hair out of her face. It is almost like she lost her abilities. If she lost her memories she shouldn't have control and it should be snowing. She briefly wakes up and reaches for Nico, he smiles and lays on the bed with her. Both fall asleep pretty quickly after that. This is how Charlie and Tonks find them in the morning they smile remembering them like this when they were both at school. Maria wakes up and rubs her eyes focusing on them.
"Your hair got longer Dora."
"So you remember me?"
"You are kinda hard to forget."
"She isn't wrong" Charlie laughs.
"I know" Tonks grins
"What about me blue? Oh shit I cant call you that anymore."
"I can still call you Dragon boy though or that only for Lily"
"Let's leave that to Lily,"
"Fine Charlie only because you asked." she giggles before coughing.
This wakes Nico up who sits up and reaches for the pitcher and gets her water. Charlie and tonks are quickly at her side.
"Are you okay?"
"Fine thanks Neeks. I had some memories come back no offence to all of you but where is Bill."
"Ransacking the burrow for things he stashed of yours to help with memories" Charlie chuckles.
"Of course he is," She says twisting an invisible ring on her finger.
"Oh here we took off your jewelry, minus that cuff we couldn't" Charlie says handing her a ring and bracelet."
"Where is my necklace?"
"Didn't have one when we found you," Tonks says.
"But, I never took it off, it was from Bill, only he would know that though. I was going undercover for a job but even with changing everything else i couldn't take that off."
"When did you go undercover?
"I was Emris." She sighs "Can one of you get Bill please"
"I'll get him." Nico says getting up.
"Thanks Neeks."
He nods and kisses her on the head leaving. Not even a minute later Bill comes into the room with a box. He goes right to Maria sitting on the bed with her Tonks pulls Charlie out saying something about food.
"What's up snowflake Nico said you were asking for me."
"Emris"
"What about her?"
"I am Emris"
"So you were only missing a year" He sighs
"My necklace, where is my necklace?"
"The rose one? You left it with me because of a job that apparently put you in a coma."
"Can I have one of them back, you gave me both."
"Memory is better today I see,"
She nods and leans into him as he fully sits on the bed. Handing her the box. She open it to find pictures and other small things. He kisses her on the cheek and wraps his arms around her as they go through the memories. They both smile knowing they will both work on her memories and get back to being happy.
