Xin Qiancheng became silent at this question.
Xin Siyue looked at him confusedly. “It’s not a simple accident, right?”
He then said, “Father and mother planned to go to a concert today, but they got into a car accident on their way there. After the accident, the culprit ran away. It’s still under investigation right now. I looked at the security footage my assistant sent and it seems intentional.”
Xin Siyue knitted her eyebrows tightly. Intentionally? Just like when someone wanted to kill her and Chen Sinan? Was it really the culprit Sheng Wenyang was talking about?
Xin Siyue mocked herself for being too stupid. She had completely forgotten about this time bomb after experiencing blissful and peaceful days.
She glanced at Xin Qiancheng then at Chen Sinan. She said, “Is it the same person as last time?” She noticed that Chen Sinan squinted his eyes when he heard this. Xin Qiancheng looked at him too.
Chen Sinan was silent momentarily before he exclaimed in a deep voice, “Maybe we can start investigating from that person.”
Xin Siyue saw that Xin Qiancheng had a gloomy face, clearly knowing what Chen Sinan was talking about. She hurriedly asked, “Who?”
“Shi Shi.”
Xin Siyue scrunched her eyebrows. Her?
After they confirmed the direction of investigation, Xin Qiancheng and Chen Sinan each used their networks to help investigate the woman.
The elders of the Xin Family woke up the next day. Seeing that all three of them were present, they couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you guys all here?”
“Father, you guys just need to rest. We’ll take care of the rest.”
Xin Jin knew that this wasn’t an accident. That worn down car had driven over at such an extreme speed that he knew that it was meant for them. It felt like the driver wouldn’t have given up unless they died in the car accident.
He recalled that the Xin Family had never offended anyone before. Then why did this person hate them so much?
He was heavily injured. Since Xin Qiancheng insisted on leaving the matters to them, he’d trust them.
In the following days, Xin Siyue requested many days of absence from work in order to accompany them. She would make trips between the house and the hospital every day.
Chen Sinan would cancel meetings and dinner invitations from time to time in order to pick her up. Sometimes, he would stay at the hospital at night with her.
This day, Xin Qiancheng stayed the night with the parents in the hospital. He shooed Xin Siyue home to rest.
In less than a week, Xin Siyue’s face had lost some of its fat and there were bags under her eyes.
Chen Sinan originally wanted to take her home, but thinking that she would be the only one there, he decided to bring her back to his house.
After Xin Siyue got in the car, she was on the verge of falling asleep. When they arrived at his apartment, Chen Sinan carried her out of the car.
Xin Siyue placed her hand on his shoulder and asked confusedly, “Are we home?”
“Yes, you can continue to sleep. You got me.”
“Ok.” When she finished her words, Xin Siyue found a comfortable spot on him and peacefully fell back asleep.
When she woke up the next morning, it was quite early. But because she had a great sleep last night, she was refreshed.
She rolled over to see Chen Sinan sleeping by her side. His breath was even and she couldn’t help but observe him for a while. Then, she reached over and kissed his face. After that, she went to the kitchen.
After Chen Sinan woke up, he patted the spot next to him. The blanket had no warmth anymore. Clearly, she had been up for a while. After he rinsed, he walked downstairs. He noticed that she was wearing an apron and busying herself in the kitchen. Seeing him standing by the kitchen door and staring at her, she smiled. “You’re up? We can eat breakfast.”
She prepared a light breakfast, but made some soup for her parents.
Chen Sinan walked over and hugged her from behind. He lowered his head and kissed her earlobes. He reminded her, “Don’t exhaust yourself.”
“I’m not tired.” She became silent for a while before she continued, “A-Nan, I want to discuss something with you.”
“Ok.”
“I already informed my workplace a few days ago. I will be quitting the job.”
Chen Sinan stopped kissing her and asked, “Do you need my help?’
Xin Siyue shook her head. “I already contacted Shengjin City’s TV Station. They welcomed me to join them.”
Chen Sinan slightly smiled and said in a low voice, “Ok! Welcome back, Lady Chen.”
Xin Siyue couldn’t help but grin too. She had considered moving her work back to Shengjin City for a long time and finally made the decision now.
Firstly, it was just more convenient for her to take care of her parents. Secondly, she would be married soon. It was better to keep her family and work in the same city. It would save her the time to travel back and forth.
“However, I need to catch them up with my work. Plus, I also need to do some tidying.”
“Ok, I’ll come with you in a few days.”
After Gu Tong found out Xin Siyue had quit her job, she smiled and said, “At this rate, it feels like you’re really ready to form a family with Chen Sinan!”
“We are going to be married soon anyway. It’s better if I come back now.”
