SOPHIE
I was about to board the plane to meet one direction in Canada and you could probably say I was nervous as hell. I didn’t know how awkward things will be with Harry especially because we still had to project that we were together and perfectly happy as Simon Cowell said. Before the agreement kind of sounded a little negative like a prenup but now that promise haunted me back. I didn’t want to be with Harry. I didn’t want to be near him ever again. But I had to for the sake of my brother and the rest of his band. I sighed again and adjusted the Gucci glasses I was wearing. One of the perks of being a model was you get to keep the clothes after you modeled them.
“Flight 5670 to Canada” the same nosy voice announced my flight again and I got up from my chair for boarding. I didn’t want to go, but what choice do I have?
“Sophia Tomlinson?” The burly guard handed me my ticket and gave me a smile. I nodded and hoped no one heard him say my name out loud. I walked the narrow hallway to the plane wearing white shorts that flattered my long legs and a bright orange neon chiffon shirt.
“Ugh, 5 A.” I muttered as I scanned the plane for my chair in first class. As soon as I sat down I pulled my ear phones and stuck them in my ear to avoid unnecessary conversation. A minute later the plane began to ascend at a steady pace.
HARRY
The airport was total chaos so we had to wait inside a car. The multitude of paparazzo was surprising. Someone must’ve given up a tip that Sophia was coming back to meet us in Canada. When we realized we’ve been spotted we ditched the hoodie, cap, and sun glasses. I wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans and wished I won’t have to let Sophia suffer longer. We had to act in front of all these people today but for me it won’t be just acting.
“I can’t believe Sophia’s gonna come back on this chaos.” Louis muttered. Since the whole cheating fiasco happened I lost all right to comment or talk to the boys. It was harsh but I knew it was just fair.
“Not to mention she has to act in front of all the people when we pick her up.” Liam said gazing at the thick line of people waiting for them outside.
“I’m glad she’s back though, missed that girl a lot.” Niall said following Liam’s gaze. Zayn I noticed was awfully quiet these days almost as if he was lost in thought.
“I’ll send her a text so she won’t look for us and end up getting mobbed.” Eleanor fished out her phone and typed in a message. Louis was lucky to have her as a girlfriend. It felt like we’ve been waiting for an hour when Eleanor’s phone rang.
“Hello? Oh, hi Sophie!” My heart picked up. “Yea, we’re outside, we’ll come and get you, it’s ugly out here so be careful and remember about the thing about you and Harry.” Eleanor almost whispered the last part. I cringed as Louis gave me a death glare.
“Jesus, we have to get out there, now.” Niall said looking afraid.
“Let’s hope no one rips our clothes open lads.” Zayn scooted off the edge of his chair and prepared for the onslaught and so did the rest of us.
“On three open the doors.” Louis had one hand on the left door and Niall on the right as soon as we opened it the guards would close in on us. Louis rose up three fingers and counted to one. Niall and Louis opened the door at the same time and we slid to the ground ducking behind the burly security guards. Instantly the flashes rained down on us and shouts ricocheted around us.
“Harry! Louis! Here! Here!” It was total chaos. They opened the airport doors for us and ushered us inside keeping the paparazzi away.
“Now, to find Sophie.” Louis muttered scanning around the room.
“Oh, wait! It’s her! There she is.” Eleanor jumped up and raced to Sophie just as she lifted her head and saw Eleanor coming towards her. The two girls hugged and held each other’s hands.
“Listen, Harry, if you try to hurt my sister again, I’ll forget you’re my band mate.” Louis snarled at me and walked towards them. The other boys followed while I lagged behind. I looked longingly at Sophie and sighed. I imagined this scene a hundred different times but I never thought things would end up like this.
“Sophie!” Zayn went up and scooped her into his arms and she was hugged by the other lads. They all had smiled on their faces until Sophie scanned the room and her eyes fell on mine. I didn’t know what to do so I just stood there like a complete fucking idiot. Sophie’s face fell and a deep frown grew on her face. She gestured to Louis and whispered something in his ear. Louis said something back and Sophie stepped back in disbelief.
“What?!?” She gaped at him and rolled her eyes at me. Louis probably told her we had to put on a little show for the press. I stepped forward and dug my hands into my pocket.
“Hi Sophie.” I mumbled.
“You asshole!” She sneered and glared at me. Liam placed a hand on her while Eleanor came up beside her. Their stance suggested that if I make a move I was going to get eaten alive which was preposterous because the last thing I wanted to do was hurt her.
“Sophie, there are about a hundred tabloids outside you have to do this.” Liam whispered.
“You only have to hold his hand and maybe snap a few kisses.” Niall interjected. Sophie glared at him and crossed her arms. Niall raised his hands up in defense.
“I don’t want to seem like a brat but I don’t want to be near Harry again.” Sophie picked up her bag and slung it over her shoulder ready to leave.
“Harry wouldn’t do anything to you, right Styles?” Liam cocked his head towards me. I pulled my hand out of my pocket and put it on my head.
“Ugh, yeah.” I said looking down. Trying to be with someone who hurt you like I did to Sophie was like trying to get in touch with a guy who kidnapped you.
“He already did.” Sophie snarled.
“Please Sophie, for me?” Louis turned on his puppy dog eyes and smoldered Sophie with it. It was awkward standing there while the woman I love proclaimed her disgust towards me. Sophie stared at Louis for a moment and sighed.
“Fine.” She said in defeat. Zayn smiled and took the bag from Sophie giving her a wink. Niall and Liam did a little cheer which made Sophie laugh. We made our way to the door with Sophie in front and me at the very back.
“Wait!” Eleanor stopped on her tracks. “We can’t fit in the car.” She stopped right before we could get out of the airport.
“What do you mean baby?” Louis smiled at her flushed expression and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. I missed doing that to Sophie.
“I mean, we can’t fit, the seats were all taken when we came here.” Eleanor said.
“There are two cars, maybe two of us could ride in the other?” Zayn said a hand on his chin in a thoughtful gesture. The others stared at him and then their eyes gravitated to Harry and me.
“Oh, no, no, no!” I waved my hand in front of my body. Louis stopped in front of me and brought his palms together.
“Please Sophie, you could have my room.” Louis said. I was determined to keep quiet.
“I don’t want my room but fine, I’ll do it. For all you guys.” Sophie said. She looked at me and glared again. Louis put a hand on the door and pushed it gently.
“This is all your fault.” Sophie muttered giving me a deadly gaze.
“I told you I was sorry.” I mumbled.
“Sorry doesn’t compare to all the pain you inflicted on me.” The words caused a kind of physical blow on me. My eyes kind of watered but I swatted away the unwanted tears.
“Sophie, I’m sorry. I don’t know if you’ll accept that but for now let’s just do this.” I said in defeat. I wanted to hug Sophie so bad but I knew she wouldn’t let that happen. She rolled her eyes and came up beside me.
“Can I hold your hand?” I asked. Sophie turned her head sideways and I wish I could read her expression. She sighed and grabbed my hand.
“Let’s just do this quickly.” I missed her touch, I missed her smell, I missed Sophie. But I blew it because I felt lonely.
“Ready Sophie?” Louis gave her a smile and gave me a glare. He pushed open the door and total chaos came. The bulbs started flashing at high speed but all the while I was aware of Sophie’s hand on mine. It was just as soft and smooth as I remembered it to be.
“Harry! Sophie!” The paparazzi called us. We waved and smiled and showed off our intertwined hands.
“Hey! Styles give us a kiss!” One guy shouted. I looked at Sophie and saw the slight shaking of her head under the false smile.
“Harry! Give us a little action!” Another said. Zayn jabbed me in the back and urged me forward.
“Keep going.” He muttered. The car pulled up in front of us and the others pilled in to the first one while Sophie and I got into the second car. After we got settled in, Sophie and I both looked at each other. For a moment I thought about telling her how I was still not over her but she looked away before I could say anything else.
