Everything was blurry, nothing was making sense. Valera had her eyes open, but everything was covered by a haze, and words arrived at her ears in garbled sentences. She knew she was being moved somewhere or another, she just wasn't sure where. And who was carrying her.

Giving a groan, the movement stopped and Valera was shifted in someone's arms. She tried to look up to see who it was, but her neck was in so much pain that she wasn't able to do much more than just stay there. She could just barely recognize Kennedy's voice in her ears, though the words she spoke were no different than what they had been.

Closing her eyes again, the movement started once more, moving her forwards. Quicker now, it disturbed the headache that raged in her skull. The moment she was placed on a soft bed, pain immediately began to ebb away from her body. The creases in her face relaxed and a quiet sigh left her mouth.

After a few minutes of just peacefully laying there, she opened her eyes once more, pleased to find that the previous haze had dissipated some. She could see Heisenberg and Kennedy talking quietly near the door to the room, Heisenberg's eyes never leaving Valera.

Valera smiled in the slightest at his relieved expression. He came over towards her quickly, taking her hand and kissing the top of it ever so gently. Valera gave the tiniest wheeze of a laugh before Kennedy came and joined them at the bed.

"You doing better, Val?" she asked. The words were just barely able to process in her mind. Valera nodded carefully, as to not hurt her neck, and gave Kennedy a gentle smile. Kennedy herself was still decked out in her BSAA gear, but Valera didn't mind. She was mostly just glad that Kennedy was safe.

"Look, Val, I'm so sorry. I should have told you, I was going to but-" Valera held up her hand to stop her friend. Kennedy's eyes widened in the slightest as Valera forced words to leave her mouth.

"I don't care, Kennedy. I really don't care. You tried to help me, whether that's for a stupid mission or just because you're a good person. The fact that you tried means more than enough to me," Valera mumbled. Kennedy gave the girl a sad smile, placing a gentle hand on her thigh.

Truth be told, Valera was tired of constantly holding grudges against people. So many people had pissed her off, told her she was monster, told her she didn't deserve love, and so in that moment, laying on the bed, she forgave everyone. Because she wasn't a monster. She did find love.

Her eyes locked with Heisenberg's and she reached up to touch his cheek, carefully pulling him down and into a gentle kiss. Heisenberg helped her sit up in the slightest, one hand wrapping around her waist. Kennedy looked away, not wanting to see them making out. When Valera pulled away, a little laugh came from her.

"I love you," she whispered. The words were a shock to Heisenberg. He'd expected those words to be a long ways off yet, but here they were, just presented to him. He smiled and dragged his thumb across Valera's cheek bone, looking over her face with the most content expression.

"I love you too," he answered. Valera let out a pleasant sigh and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him into a tight hug. Kennedy felt a little out of place, like she was barging in on an important moment. Not to mention, it was just the slightest bit embarrassing. She coughed a little, pulling Heisenberg and Valera from their moment. Muttering a little 'sorry', Kennedy continued with what she was going to say.

"I also wanted to tell you Valera, I talked with the directors at the BSAA, about what we're going to do with you. My initial mission was to wait until you came here, befriend you, then take you back to the BSAA to stay there full time, but I know you care a lot about Mr. Greasy there, so I gave them a bit of a bargain. They're deciding right now what to do, and we should have an answer by tomorrow. I asked that instead of you staying at the BSAA, maybe you could just go every weekend or something," Kennedy said. The words lit up a smile across Valera's face.

"Really?" she asked. Kennedy gave a small nod and smile, making Valera's grin widen. "I also love you," she laughed, bringing out a bigger smile from the other woman. The words held a lot of weight, that Kennedy could tell. With that said, Kennedy finally stood and stretched a little as she did. Valera watched her with a slight pout.

"You're leaving already?" Valera asked. Kennedy hummed, smiling a little sadly.

"As soon as the directors decide what to do, I won't be around during the times when you're hanging out here. Lucas will always be around if you want someone to gossip to, though," she said. Valera frowned slightly and just nodded, a little upset about this information.

"I'd stay full time if I could, but you don't need a bodyguard here. You already got one," Kennedy said, motioning towards Heisenberg. Said man gave a bit of a triumphant smile before giving Kennedy a small wave.

"I'll see you two later, hopefully with good news," Kennedy said, strolling over to the door before pausing. "I love you, Val. Work on getting better, alright?" Kennedy muttered. Valera grinned mainly at Heisenberg before answering.

"I will. I'll see you later, Kennedy," Valera answered. Kennedy gave a wave over her shoulder before exiting the room, leaving just Valera and Heisenberg. Valera sighed quietly and looked up at the man she really did love.

"Never do that again," he said suddenly. Valera gave him a bit of a confused expression. "You know, the using the megamycete until you almost die, that was stupid. What was I supposed to do if you died?" he asked. Valera's confusion morphed into a mischievous grin.

"Aw, you were worried!" she teased. Heisenberg rolled his eyes, glancing away as he did.

"Yeah, I was worried! My worst nightmare came true, you're just lucky I had the soldats on standby," he stated. Valera chuckled quietly and squeezed his hand.

"Yeah, thanks for that, I guess," she whispered. Heisenberg gave her a mock angry expression.

"You guess?"

* * *

It didn't take long for Valera's body to recover, perks of being connected to the megamycete, she guessed. Heisenberg was back to constantly making her breakfast, despite her protests. She'd been able to walk again after just a few days, though Heisenberg would insist on her staying in bed most days.

Damon and Heiko were more than happy with the amount of attention they were given every day, since Valera never left the same room most of the time. The dogs had figured out that if they climbed up on the bed with her, they would gets pets galore. They deserved them either way.

"You almost ready to go?" Heisenberg asked. Valera was quick to finish buttoning her shirt. She turned around and gave him an exasperated expression. He smiled at her and began to approach, wrapping his arms around her when he was close enough. He carefully pressed their foreheads together, making Valera give a pleasant sigh.

"There's a lot of thing I want to show you, so hurry up," he teased. He delivered her a peck on the lips before moving away once more. Valera rolled her eyes and rolled up the shirt sleeves, knowing it was too hot to have the sleeves rolled down.

When she finally left the room, fully dressed, Heisenberg offered her his hand, which she gladly took. Valera leaned over and gave his cheek a gentle kiss before letting herself be led from the factory. The first big thing she noticed was the fence around the factory was gone. Completely gone. The second thing Valera noticed was that there were people on the bridge. Some looked up as the pair came out from the factory, and some waved as they approached.

"They're not scared of you anymore?" Valera asked. Heisenberg hummed. "I may have done some... good deeds while you were in the factory," he said. Valera gave him a skeptical look that just made him laugh. They continued walking along the road, Heisenberg remaining silent to let Valera see all the differences.

The massive gate that sat around the castle was now gone too, and people were inside the walls of the castle sitting on the grass, treating it similar to a park. Valera's jaw dropped in the slightest as they continued their walk through the town. Everything had seemed to brighten up, and houses looked a lot more modern, sophisticated. A little less old fashioned. Some new houses were even being built.

Valera took in the sights, people waving, saying hello, some even offering her some signature Romanian food. She gratefully accepted just about everything she was offered, occasionally sharing some with Heisenberg as well. After a while, the houses began to disperse, leaving just the path in front of them.

"Where are we going?" Valera asked. Heisenberg gave her a pleasant grin.

"A field trip," he teased. She figured that he wouldn't tell her until they got there, so she just walked along with him instead of asking questions. It took quite the ways to finally reach their destination, a creek. It looked like it connected to the reservoir somewhere down the line, but here it was nothing more than a clear creek.

"Why're we here?" Valera asked. Heisenberg detached Valera from him and began to take off his shoes. He glanced to the creek like it should be obvious. When he realized that Valera wasn't understanding, he straightened himself and tossed his shoes into the grass. Beginning to wade out into the water, he looked back at Valera still on the bank.

"We're just here to have fun. Hang out, that kind of thing," he said. Valera raised an eyebrow, getting a smile in response from Heisenberg. She shook her head after a moment and began to take off her own shoes, to Heisenberg's delight.

"Don't make me regret this, Heisenberg," she teased, making him roll his eyes slightly. He was quick to drag her into the water after she'd gotten her shoes off. Valera gave a little yelp once her feet hit the cold water.

"It's cold at first, but it gets better," he said. He lifted Valera up off the ground for a second, spinning her around, her beginning to laugh as he placed her back into the water. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she tugged him in for a kiss, laughing into it slightly.

She kept their faces close once she'd pulled away and stared into his eyes. Everything about this was a romance movie, but to be honest, neither minded. This was their happy ending. No more bad guys, no more monsters, just them, in their own little world, forever living how they wanted to. Granted, with some intrusion from the BSAA, but they didn't mind.

Valera had read and watched so much about romance, the unrealistic kind that would bring her nothing but trouble in the future. She had fallen in love with fairytales when she was young, and held onto those fairytales forever, hoping that one day she'd get her own happy ending. For the longest time, she believed that she never would, that happy endings only existed in fairytales. It took her a long time to realize something so very important:

Happy endings didn't just belong in fairytales.

And there it is, the final chapter. I can't even begin to tell you how FUN this was, how amazing it was to get so much feedback from some of you, and just to watch my childhood dreams come true. Each of you have made a huge impact on me, and for that I am forever in your debt. Thank you.

Without further ado, I present to you, the descriptions of The Forgotten Valkyrie and Guard Dog.

The Forgotten Valkyrie

"And who might you be?" he asked. A playful look danced in his eyes as she stood tall and firm. A smile spread across her face.

"Your forgotten valkyrie, my prince."

Racked with fear and anger, a mysterious man releases her from the loop, freeing her into the new world. Befriending a sorceress with an equally mysterious brother, what will happen when she finds out that this mysterious brother is the mysterious man who saved her?

Guard Dog

"You're more like a guard dog than a human," she stated. The words brought the smallest smile to his lips.

"If that's what you want me to be, then I'll be it."
