Diana's POV
I woke up feeling exhausted, I heard my phone ring, I rolled my eyes already feeling moody, I took the phone from my night stand and answered,
" hello?" I said,
" oh hello, good morning this is David I don't know if you remember me, i'm your father's lawyer, I called to ask when you're free to come and sigh some files of ownership miss" he asked kindly,
I sighed rubbing my forehead,
" um... yeah good morning sir and yes I'll pass by today if that's ok and if you're not too busy" I said,
" oh very good dear that's great come at anytime I close at 8 pm ok? " he said,
" that's ok sir good day" I responded then cut the call,
I got up from the bed going to the bathroom to do my hygiene and got dressed.
I was ready then I decided to call Elijha's mom to pick Lia up,
" hello dear" she answered,
"Hello ma good morning how is my baby doing?" I said giggling cause I head Lia's laughter in the background,
" oh my grandauther is doing well, she's having fun playing with her pancakes with her grandpa" she said laughing,
i shook my head and laughed, typical...
" ma I'm coming to pick her up soon is that ok?" I asked,
" yes dear you can come at anytime and make sure you bring her often ok?" She said,
"yes of course will" i answered,
"Ok bye dear" .
After picking up lia I went grocery shopping then headed straight to my father's lawyer office.
I walked inside the huge building which was very nice and saw a woman at the front desk,
" good afternoon I have an appointment with Mr David" I said,
She smiled at me and nodded,
"Oh yes you can go straight to his office, just go straight you'll see his office" she said smiling politely at me,
"Thank you do much" I said,
"It's nothing dear" she replied waving her hand,
I walked to the direction she instructed and i saw a door and i looked at the name that was posted on it,
"David Addison" I whispered feeling slightly confused, i took a deep breath and knocked,
For a few seconds I didn't hear anything then suddenly the door opened and there was David, I still remember him as he was when I was little, he sometimes came over for dinner then suddenly stopped I never saw him but heard when father called him for business stuff,
He saw that it was me and smiled wildly opening the door more for me to enter, Lia that was holding my hand with her tiny ones squealed happily shocking David making him take a step back staring intensely at her,
"My God" he whispered but I heard him,
I picked Lia up trying to calm her down, she was literally clapping her hands and squealing, her gaze was fixated on the sight of the city that was facing us,
"Um... good afternoon David sorry she scared you she's a bit excited" I said,
He looked away from Lia and cleared his throat,
" it's nothing dear please come sit" he said quickly turning around walking to his office desk,
I frown at his behaviour,
I sat down still holding Lia close to me, to say the least I was nervous, I'll admit my father's death really hurts, I won't ever see him again and it hurts, the little girl in me still had hope that my parents would have regretted what they did, I would gave forgiving them, they would have had a great bond with their granddaughter but that idea was crushed, my mom was a prove, at least that's her side of the story, what of my fathers side of the story? I'll never know, I sighed getting out out of my head and looked at David,
"um... so what did my father leave for me? and I don't even understand why he would leave something anyways!" I said sighing in frustration,
he looked at me with a sad expression,
"Diana before I give you what your father left I want to tell you the truth...your parents kept you in the dark more your mother... greediness, fame, money and attention blinded your mother from seeing the real world, to really see her family" he said sadly,
"my name is David Mason Addison and i'm you father step brother, your grandparents adopted me when I was a baby.
Your mom hated my guts cause I warned my brother not to marry her, I saw the evil woman she was, my brother was so blinded by love that he didn't see how of an ugly soul she was, all I saw was a woman who wanted nothing but wealth, i did my researches on her and noticed how she came from a very poor family, she ran away from home at a young age thinking it was way better than staying with her parents who did their best on providing for her, life got harder for her and she started selling her body for quick money till your father saw her, i never went further on my research, i wanted my brother to tell me the truth about how they met, i confronted him one day and he told me everything, how they met and how he basically gave her a new life, he fell in love and they married, i don't think he even acknowlaged the fact that he was so desparately in love with who was not in love with him, years past, i don't know if you remember me always coming over for dinner, i never came to you as an uncle because she never wanted me to because she thought i was a threat to her family then accused me of almost raping her which was not true, your father became bitter towards me banding me to never come back there ever again and i never did, he only wanted me as his lawyer but not his brother, i was and still am the best lawyer there's is in this town, he only wanted me for that but not as his brother"
the air was literally stuck in my throat, my eyes wild in wonder, God this was painful to watch and listen to, to see my Uncle crumble, he was in so much pain for the fact that his older brother turned his back on him, blood is thicker that water they say!!...
his voice shook as he explained to me this story, his eyes where clouded with heavy agonising tears,
i looked away from him cause it was too much for me to see,
" i just wanted to protect my big brother and he hated me for that, he changed because of her, he became wicked blindly following your mother's footsteps that led him to his grave, he was the closest thing i had since my parents died, when i was younger, he was my protector, i looked up to him in everything, my love for him was and will always be there even if he's not here anymore, i miss him you know... but i'm happy he's at peace now" he said sobbing,
he covered his face breathing hard,
" i'm so sorry Uncle" i said wiping my tears,
he looked up and looked at me and smiled,
" the first time i heard my niece call me his uncle" he chukled softly, making me giggle,
" the time i heard he kicked you out i was devastated, he disowned you because your mother wanted that not him, he loved you dearly Diana, after you left he thankfully started seeing his mistakes, that's what hit him... you leaving, he saw everything in a different way and started seeing your mother for who she really was and i feel like she's actually the one who killed him in that accident"
i sighed, so that's how my father died,
" he started amending his mistakes, everything he had worked for is yours Diana, he left the house and cars to your mother out of pity, it felt like he knew he was gonna die soon but not this soon, I want to thank you Diana for accepting to come and o really am sorry that I wasn't much in your life, I should have fought harder for you and for my brother, forgive me and I'd really love to have you back as my family cause you're the only one I have left of my brother" he said painfully wiping his tears,
He got up and walked over the shelf that was at my left and took out a blue file, he came over and handed it to me,
" here it's all yours, when your ready you sigh them ok?" He said then went back to sit down,
I sighed and cleared my throat,
"I'm really sorry that this happened to you uncle, I forgive you cause you've done nothing wrong and I'd like for us to build back our relationship, thank you for helping my father and I don't need to think about signing the papers cause I've made up my mind and I know what I want, there's no more my mother could do to hurt him and his property it's the legacy he left and I'll take care of it no doubt, I just wish I told him personally that I forgave him too but it's ok, life goes on but he will be remembered " I said as I took the pen i saw and signed the papers,
"You did a great choice niece " my uncle said smiling,
As I was signing the other papers Lia crawled up to Uncle David, I looked at his reaction to see what he'll do, I saw that he was hesitant in picking her up,
"Go on Uncle" I said giggling, Lia seeing me laugh clapped her hands and laughed as well,
Uncle grabbed her softly putting her on his lap,
"She's so tiny!" He whispered,
"You should have seen her when she was first born" I said smiling remembering when I held her,
Lia looked at him and rested her head on his arm patting it, I laughed at what she was doing,
" she's so full of love" he said laughing, he got up when he saw that I was done with the papers,
"Take care of the little one here and yourself ok Diana" he said,
I nodded and hugged him,
"And you do that as well".
I sighed as I sat in my car,
"Ok that went better than I thought"
I took a deep breath before staring the car and took off.
