We won't forget each other, right?
"So then you said if he doesn't bring him back, you'll kill him?", Y/n signed as she sweatdropped.
"Yup! But I trust Takemitchy so I believe he'll know what to do", Mikey replied with a smile.
They both had already gone to the convenience store to get taiyaki and now, they were sat on some big rocks that surrounded the beach they were at.
"I think you scared him off with the killing part", she chuckled lightly.
"We're best friends! Don't worry! He may be totally shit a fighting but he's a good guy. Reminds me a lot of Shinichiro", he began reminiscing about his brother with saddened eyes.
Y/n noticed this and tried to cheer up the mood.
"Hey, remember when me, you and Baji used to come here all the time?", she signed as Mikey's face lit up at the joyous thought.
Back then, when Y/n wasn't hospitalised, they'd often come to this beach in the nights. It was also back then that Baji had developed feelings for Y/n even long before Mikey did, yet he wasn't chosen.
He thought it was pretty obvious that he liked her. He'd compliment every single outfit she wore and he was always looking out for her.
But over time, Y/n and Mikey got closer to the point where they started dating. He thought maybe he just wasn't quick enough.
Or maybe she didn't see him the way he saw her.
In any case, he slowly started distancing himself from the two in pure anger and jealousy.
He just didn't understand why she chose Mikey. He should've told her how he felt straight up, things would've been very different.
"I hope Baji's doing well", she signed as she leaned her head against Mikey's shoulder.
He placed a hand around her shoulder. "Cheer up, i'm sure he's doing fine", he comforted.
"Hopefully", she signed before pointing over to the ocean. "Let's go closer to the water!".
She sure was excited to be outside for a change, Mikey knew that much. He really wished for her to get better so he could take her to more places, to do everything with her. Y/n's smile was his most prized possession and he wanted to see that smile when she was actually doing things she enjoyed and not just lazing around in one room.
She took her shoes and socks off and placed her bare feet in the water.
"Woah! It's so cold!", she signed as the fine combed waves washed over her feet.
It was relaxing to say the least. They both sat down on the sand by the ocean so their feet would still be in the water but not too much.
She really missed the smell of the beach. Relaxing her muscles to the gentle breeze that blew past now and again, she gazed up at the starry sky. She definitely picked a good night to go out.
She turned to Mikey to ask a question.
"Manjiro can I ask you something? It's a hypothetical question", she signed.
"Go ahead", he responded.
"Ok. If I were to—", she didn't even get to finish before he grabbed her hand preventing her from signing.
"Is it something to do with your death?", he signed with a small frown on his face.
She sighed in defeat. He was just too clever, she didn't even get to finish her sentence.
"You can ask it but i'm not promising i'll answer", he signed.
He didn't like talking about these things at all. It would only discourage him from keeping his hopes up, but that was what Y/n wanted to do. She didn't want him to build his hope up so much that he'd be left in pieces when his expectations weren't met.
"If I were to die, would you move on? 'Cause I'd want you to. It doesn't have to be straight away, just eventually", she signed with a small smile.
He already knew the answer to that question, it was simple. If Y/n knew him as well as she claimed she'd also know the answer- which she did, but maybe he'd...changed his mind.
"I will never ever replace you Y/n", he signed.
He stood by that, his answer had never changed.
Her eyes trailed from the movements of his hands to his face. She was taken aback. She'd never seen him so serious before, almost angry that she'd even think for a second that he'd eventually find someone else.
"I only have eyes for you and that'll never change", she felt tears threaten her eyes at his tender words. She wished she could do more for him, he deserved so, so much more.
"'Cause I love you, and you love me too, right?", he asked at which she nodded keenly, her lips trembling from the tears that were about to spill out.
Mikey smiled and pulled her into his embrace, placing a kiss on her neck.
Yes, she loved him and he loved her.
