Summary; Ciel attempts to sneak sweets at night, but instead he uncovers something that absolutely infuriates him.

Sweets
Ciel Phantomhive couldn't sleep. It was late, probably sometime in the early morning. He had given up on sleep by now. The blue haired boy was growing quite tired of staring up at his canopy. His eyes had traced the lines and seams of the blue fabric. He finally just sat up and swung his legs over the edge of the bed and walked out of his room, his bare feet padding down the darkened halls of his mansion, lit only by the faint light of moonlight that crept in through the window panes. He was just outside the kitchen when he heard scuffling inside. He froze.
Is it Sebastian? Could he have sensed me coming here somehow?!
Ciel didn't move for another moment, but poked his head around the corner to see Aurora snacking away at the sweets, a large black bathrobe over her shoulders. Ciel flinched and sunk back, if Aurora was here, Sebastian wouldn't be too far behind. The angel was leaning against the counter before she glanced over her shoulder, "Aren't you going to have some sweets with me?" Ciel froze.
Had she seen him?
A dark chuckle made Ciel stiffen and look around the corner to see Sebastian joining her. His arms trapped her against the counter and he chuckled, leaning forward to nuzzle her nose against his own. "You know I don't eat human food, darling." Aurora pouted, "It won't hurt you to try it. Besides, it is quite good." She took another sweet and popped it in her mouth, "You are certain Ciel will not notice you sneaking me sweets at night?"
Ciel almost gasped. Sebastian was letting her eat his sweets?! How long had this been going on?!
Sebastian let out a throaty chuckle, "Oh my dear sweet angel, he won't notice because I monitor his sweets constantly. I count them every few hours to ensure he isn't sneaking any." Aurora burst into laughter but was quickly silenced. Ciel heard a soft moan and curiosity made him glance around the corner at them. Sebastian had an arm around the angel's waist, his other hand cupped her face as he kissed her passionately.
Aurora's mouth opened to release a moan and Ciel shuddered seeing Sebastian's tongue tango with hers. When they withdrew from the kiss, Sebastian had a small smile on his face, "I assure you, you eating the sweets is no problem at all. Besides, you do need to keep your energy up." Aurora blushed, "Oh hush." Sebastian frowned, "I do wish you would sleep." Aurora shook her head, "No. I keep seeing you dead. I can't go through the pain. It feels so real every time it happens. It's trauma on top of trauma." Sebastian frowned, then he remembered.
"Your father... you found him dead that way as well. Didn't you?"
Aurora nodded, "Yes." Sebastian sighed and cursed quietly. "Angelica... I.. I am so sorry, mon ange. I did not-" Aurora cut him off, "I know. You had no choice. It was an order to keep it hidden from me. I can see why, while I do not agree with it from a morals standpoint, from a demonic one I can see it quite clearly."
She walked over and kissed his cheek, "An order does not change how I feel about you, mon amour. You know that." Sebastian frowned, "It did when it made you Fall." Aurora paused, "I was afraid to become Fallen. But I have come to realize... I might be happier this way."
Sebastian looked up, "Truly, mon cherie?" Aurora sighed and nodded, "Yes." Sebastian stood and walked up behind her, lacing his hands around her waist and holding her close. "You have no need to fear being a Fallen," he said quietly, "I will teach you how to use your new demonic powers. I will protect you to the best of my ability, I will hold you, I will keep you safe. And I will love you for all eternity. That my love, love of my long demon's life, is a promise I plan to keep to you."
Aurora sighed and leaned back into him. "You are too good to me, mon cher. You have been the only one there for me." Sebastian smiled and rested his face in the crook of her neck. "You deserve only the best, Angelica." Aurora smiled lovingly, "If you say so..." She picked up another one of the sweets and offered it to him. He sighed and let his mouth graze her fingertips as his lips gently pulled the sweet from her and into his mouth. He licked his lips as he swallowed it.
"Delicious."
Aurora chuckled, "I hope you genuinely mean that. Because it's all your going to taste when you kiss me."
Sebastian smiled and kissed her cheek before grabbing a small bowl, "I am going to give Noire a midnight snack since we are up. I'll be but a minute." Aurora hummed, chewing on a piece of chocolate. "Hurry back." Sebastian filled the bowl with a bit of left over salmon and brought it outside. The moment he disappeared out the door, Aurora sighed and turned her gaze to the doorway.
"Ciel. I know your there. If you want any sweets, you best hurry and take some before Sebastian returns." Ciel cursed and crept into the kitchen. Aurora handed him a small bowl of different flavored sweets. Ciel stared, this was pitiful. He held up the bowl, "More." Aurora narrowed her eyes, "No. Unless you want me to call Sebastian in here and scold you for stealing sweets-"
Ciel whined, "But I paid for them! I paid for everything in this mansion!" Aurora rolled her eyes, "Ciel. Do not whine. you sound like a child. Now take what I have given you and be thankful I'm giving you that. Now shoo! Back to bed with you!" Ciel left and found himself sitting on his bed, eating the sweets. He hid the bowl under the bed, Sebastian would find it eventually. That was when he heard the small noises in the hall. He poked his head out and hid behind a small table.
Sebastian and Aurora were hand in hand. The demon was chuckling to himself as he pinned Aurora to a wall. The blonde was blushing and shushed the butler. "Sebastian! be quiet! We are near Ciel's room!" Sebastian smiled slyly, "The young master is asleep, my angel. Rest easy. He will not hear us. Even if he does, what is the worst he can do?" Aurora sighed, "Separate us? Send me off to the town house while he keeps you here by his side?" Sebastian scoffed, "That wouldn't happen. After all, we are being careful."
Aurora frowned, "You are certain?" The demon nodded, "Completely, my dear." He pulled her close and kissed her passionately, drawing a moan from her. "Sebastian...." Sebastian chuckled, his hand pulling her leg up around his hip and giving a gentle, suggestive thrust of his hips. "Come on, darling. Let's do it right here." Aurora was blushing, "What?!" Sebastian kissed her and pushed her against the wall, eyes glowing with lust. "I said, let's just do it right here. No one will walk in on us..." His hand inched up her skirt, resting on her bare thigh. "I promise I'll be gentle..." Aurora gasped as he began undoing the buttons on her dress. "Sebastian! Not here! Can't we go back to your room?!"
Sebastian hummed, smirking at her blushing face, "What's wrong, my pretty angel? Don't you want me?" Aurora gasped, "Oh god yes!" Sebastian hummed, "God you say?" Aurora grabbed his face in her hands and slammed her mouth onto his, growing agitated with her lover's teasing. Sebastian moaned into her mouth and pushed her into the wall. When he pulled away from her lips, he looked at her lustfully, "So what say you, my lady? My beautiful angel?"
His breath was hot on her face, and his vermillion eyes locked onto her silvery blue, he extended her his hand with a smile. Aurora's breast was heaving as she took his hand with a small nod. "Yes..." Malphas chuckled and pulled her close.
Ciel stared at the couple, still hidden behind the table. Aurora was grabbing at Sebastian's dark locks as he pushed her further against the wall, his mouth attacking her throat. When the blonde started to whimper, her breathing quickening as Sebastian's hands moved slowly from her upper thighs to further down her legs, Ciel had no words. If he had- he would have immediately scolded his butler and maid for such actions, he would have sent the blonde to the town house for some time before allowing her back in the manor. Instead he just stared, his mind blank as the demon and angel couple made out in front of him. Sebastian took a step forward, holding his partner up against the wall with his chest while he slowly pulled her skirt up past her knees.
That was when Ciel decided to just forget this ever happened.
He started to crawl back towards his room when he heard Aurora gasp and grab Sebastian's arm. "Wait! Not here! This is too open!" Sebastian smiled slyly, "Darling, no one is here. Besides, it is the thrill of getting caught that... excites me. You know that." Aurora was a blushing mess, "Sebastian... Please!" She whined, "I feel like we are about to be caught!" Sebastian kissed her, moving his right hand under her to hold her steady while his other cupped her face as he pressed a delicate kiss to her lips, just subtle, a hint of a kiss if anything. As his lips remained ghosted over hers, he murmured quietly,
"No one, be it demon, reaper, angel, human or whatnot, will ever take you away from me. If that is what you fear, mon ange, I will always find you."
Aurora shook her head, "You did not before..."
Sebastian sighed and looked at her tenderly, his voice a quiet murmur, but Ciel could just barely hear his words. "That was a different time, my angel. One I feel responsible for. Every waking moment." Aurora looked confused, "How is it your fault?" Sebastian was quiet before he answered her.
"Because I let you go back there. If I had not, if I had just insisted we just run then, you would be alright. You would not have gone through what you did." Aurora looked at him lovingly, a hint of sadness in her eyes. "It was not your fault, mon amoure... It never was." She went to kiss him but he stopped her with a finger to her lips,
"Please. Do not use that angelic power of giving the past a sunny disposition on me. I would prefer to live with the guilt. For it reminds me every day how important you are to me."
Aurora sighed, "Sebastian... It hurts to see you in pain." He kissed her, "It does the same for me. You have no idea how much I yearned to hold you when I had to fake my death." He pressed a kiss to her collarbone, drawing a soft sigh from her before he continued, "How I wished to hold you close while you cried my name in your sleep, how I regret every second of that case. Because I had to lie to you."
He kissed her a bit harshly, "It was something I never wanted to do to you. I promised you so many years ago I would always be honest with you, yet I have lied to you. Making my words invalid." Aurora sighed and kissed him, "You stupid demon, I do not blame you for that. You are contracted-"
Sebastian hissed venomously, "But that does not make it right! I lied to you! I promised I would never do that! And now- you are plagued by nightmares of my death every night. You have not slept in days, if I had not done the little brat's order- you would not be suffering like this!"
Aurora kissed him, a bit surprised when she felt a tear on his cheek. "Mon amoure? Are you- are you crying?" Sebastian shook his head, "No- no of course not, I just got something in my eye." Aurora smiled and kissed him, "Love, I'm right here. I'm fine." Ciel leaned in as Sebastian dipped his head into the space between her neck and shoulder, the demon butler murmuring something only she could hear.
A single tear ran down Aurora's pale cheek, and she whispered something Ciel couldn't quite make out. He leaned closer, curious as to what was being said when his arm hit the small table, and sent the vase on top falling to the ground.
The couple froze.
Ciel shrunk back and crept back towards his room. He heard a sigh behind him, and it made him stop.
"Young master..."
The boy turned to face his butler, the demon now pulled away from his lover's grasp. Aurora stood behind him, averting her gaze from Ciel, the boy unable to determine if the blonde angel were ashamed of her actions or if she were merely embarrassed.
Ciel stared, speechless. The butler's normally calm cool and collected façade was nonexistent as he searched for the right words. Sebastian's tie was undone, draped around his neck, tailcoat unbuttoned, his waistcoat absent, revealing only his disheveled white dress shirt. Ciel had no words, his mouth moved, but no words escaped him. He didn't know what he was supposed to do. He never... He never expected to see this- especially with Sebastian. He never expected his butler to be one to have a secret love affair.
Sebastian glanced back at Aurora, reaching behind him to gently squeeze her hand. "You should go to your room..." He murmured, "I'll put the young master to bed." Aurora nodded, her gaze on the floor. "Okay..." She looked at him hopefully, a hint of fear in her eyes. Sebastian gently nudged her, "Go on..."
Aurora walked away, glancing back only briefly before she went to her own room.
Sebastian turned to his master, straightening his clothes a bit, a perfect smile on his face, like nothing had happened. "Shall we get you to bed my lord?"
Ciel sat in his bed, silent as his butler tucked him in. When Sebastian had finished, he finally spoke.
"Sebastian. You have exactly ten seconds to explain to me what I saw out there."
Sebastian's eyes flashed at the order, "Yes, my lord." He went on, beginning his explanation. "I will not lie to you, my lord. Miss Magne and I have been seeing each other behind closed doors." He cleared his throat before continuing. "Know that our affair did not start until after the Paris Exposition." Ciel's eyes widened, "You've been- for that long?! When did this start, Sebastian?!" Sebastian hummed, "In actuality, it started thousands of years ago. But if you speak of when she returned to me, then it started the night I left the exposition." Ciel stared. "You were being strange that night... You two slept together... That's why-"
Sebastian cut him off, "The exposition was a mistake my lord. After that, we did not... spend time together until she came to from her coma and remembered everything." Ciel narrowed his eyes, "That was within days of each other. You've been having an affair since weeks after she came into my employ." Ciel smirked,
"You've given me means of which to fire her, Sebastian."
The demon's brow twitched, but he smirked, "But wouldn't you rather have both a demon and an angel upon your chessboard, my young lord?"
Ciel made a small huffing sound before he glared at his butler. "I need time to think about this Sebastian. Whether I get rid of her or not is still up for debate." Ciel smirked, "Go on now Sebastian, I'll see you in the morning."
The demon left his master's room, and descended down the manor's vast stair case in an almost robotic manner. He had seen his master like this, conniving, cruel, but he hadn't thought the boy would be so against the relationship.
He entered the servant's hall, debating on what to do now. He could return to his room, wait until morning. He could sit in the servant's lounge and read, get a glass of Morning Star Brand to soothe his nerves. He could go to his lover, tell her the situation, and hold her as she wallowed in despair, he could go into her room, say nothing and just sleep with her, lay beside her or perhaps even inside her.
"Malphas?"
He turned his gaze to see the blonde stepping out of the lounge, he saw her face lit only by a candle, the orange flame dancing across her tear stained face. In her hand, she held a glass of Morning Star Brand wine. Her hair was pulled up, and she had a shawl draped over her shoulders. Sebastian walked over to her, not saying a word as he moved over to her, pulling her into his arms and holding her close.
She cried into his shoulder, her tears staining his dress shirt. "Sebastian... Malphas... He- Ciel, he's going to... to..." Sebastian shushed her and scooped her into his arms, carrying her to the chaise in the lounge. As he set her down she looked at him tearfully, "I told you- I told you we had to be careful! We weren't careful enough!"
Sebastian pulled her close, tucking her head to his chest. "It's going to be fine. I promise." He tilted her chin up, "Angelica, I promised you that no one would ever take you away from me. I am going to live by that." Aurora looked at him, "What if he decides to get rid of me? What then?"
Sebastian hummed and pressed a kiss to her neck. "Relax darling, I already have a plan for this."
The next morning, Sebastian went to wake his master only to find the boy already up. "Sebastian." He said, "I have decided that-" Sebastian cut him off, "My lord, I would like to inform you that I do have intentions of marrying her one day." The demon smirked, "Hopefully quite soon if my young master would permit it?"
Ciel stared as the demon continued, "I assure you, I always had the intent. Even long before your time." Ciel looked confused, "What do you mean? Before my time?" Sebastian had a far off look in his eyes, "I did tell you how Aurora and I knew each other when we were young? Didn't I?" Ciel nodded. "Yes. You did."
Sebastian glanced at his master, "Did I tell you that I proposed to her the day I lost her?"
Ciel shook his head, "No... You didn't."
"You're perfect."
"As are you.... I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
"I have something I wish to tell you my love..."
"...I would go to the ends of the earth, the ends of eternity, give my life for yours, I would do anything for you my dear."
"Angelica Laverne, become my bound mate for all eternity. I want to hold you in my arms until the day we die. I want to be the one to guard you, protect you, keep you safe from all that tries to harm you. I want you to marry me so we can spend every waking moment by each other's side."
"She accepted the proposal, as I expected her to, I had no doubts she would deny me. I took a great risk in getting that ring." Sebastian gave a small hum of laughter, "I don't think I am ever going to find out what became of that ring..." He looked at the young earl, "I will never forget the look on her face. It is one I might have the pleasure of seeing again." His eyes hardened. "If you find it such an issue of us seeing each other in the night, I will marry her so it does not violate your idea of propriety." Ciel narrowed his eyes, "You didn't let me finish."
Sebastian fell silent.
Ciel sat up, his back straight and his tone of voice commanding as he spoke, "Sebastian. This is an order. I have no issues so long as you keep things professional and no one finds out about this. If someone is to discover you and Aurora having an affair, you are to inform me and Aurora is fired. Because I am... fond of her, I would arrange for a place of boarding elsewhere. You could go see her at night. But I would prefer you keep things under wraps. No one is to find out. And we never had this conversation. I saw nothing. Understand?" Sebastian smiled slyly, "But of course, my lord." He bowed and then began to help the boy dress for the day, "If I might ask young lord," he said later on,
"Would you be against Aurora and I getting married?"
