~Lavender Evans POV~
And we're back from break, after sitting in classes all day I'm finally in potions, and I'm completely lost.
But that's okay, Lily doesn't have tutoring today, I can just ask her later.
Class wrapped up and I made my way back to my dorm.
Lily and Mary were talking about something that had happened in their DADA class.
"What about you Lav? Anything interesting today?" Lily asked
"Nothing interesting, but I'm completely lost on what we did in potions" I said
"I'm studying with Sev in about half an hour if you wanna tag along" She said
"Sure" I said, she nodded before she walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower.
"So you're gonna go study with Lily and Snape" Dorcas said
"I really need help with potions, my marks need to go up ASAP" I said
"You have better marks then I do" Mary said
"Screw that, I wouldn't want to study with them" Dorcas said
"It'll be what, an hour? I'll survive, I hope" I said
"Yeah don't be too hopeful about that" Mary said
"Hopeful about what?" Marlene said as she walked in
"Lavs gonna go study with Lily and Severus tonight" Dorcas said
"Ouch, yeah, good luck hun" Marlene said
"Eh, your a saint sometimes, I bet you can do it" Mary said as the bathroom door opened.
"You all set?" Lily asked as she grabbed her bag.
"Yep" I said as I stood up, grabbing my bag before I followed her out.
"So what did you not get?" She asked
"Sorta just, um, all of it" I said
"Okay" She said with a laugh
"It's not too hard of a concept once you get it, just getting it is the hard part" She said
"Yeah, I need to improve my potions marks" I said
"Lav, you have an E in potions, that's a great grade, it's a hard class" She said
"You have an O" I said
"How many times have I told you not to compare myself to you, you put my grades in DADA and Transfiguration to shame" She said as we walked into the library.
"Sev, this is my sister Lavender, I had her come along today, she needs help with potions and I need help with Transfiguration so I'm gonna make her help me with that" She said as she pulled me to a table.
"Oh...okay" He said
Yeah, I've never been a huge fan of Snape. Obviously I'm not like the guys with him, he just rubs me the wrong way.
This part of Potions is basically chemistry, we have to learn some basic makeups to be able to continue on with a potion we'll be making next week.
And fun fact: I'm horrid at math.
Absolutely awful at it.
It's never clicked for me. Not great at least.
"So basically with this, you need to make sure that both sides of your equation are balanced, even though it wouldn't matter normally too much, here if it's not balanced, it can and will explode" Lily said
"And there's a simple solution for that, which is?" She asked
"Not letting it explode?" Severus said
"No" Lily said
"Add a drop of the Elixir given" I said
"Yes! Perfect Lav" She said
I heard Severus whisper something under his breath after that but didn't think too much of it.
"What was that?" Lily asked, suddenly very serious.
"Nothing" Severus said
"No, I know exactly what you bloody said, Severus. I was asking if you were gonna take it back" Lily said
"Lily, it was nothing" He said
"It was something to me, Sev, you shouldn't be saying that at all, nonetheless about and to my sister, I can't believe you" She said
"What did I miss?" I asked
"Nothing-" Severus started.
"He called you a...a" Lily started
"I can't even say it, I can't believe you" She said
"What did you say?" I asked
"Nothing" Severus said
"Oh, you said it once but don't have the guts to repeat what you said? You don't have the guys to say if to her face? Just under your breath?" Lily asked
We all sat in silence for a minute.
"A mudblood. I called you a filthy mudblood" He said.
"I can't- I can't even believe that you'd say that, nonetheless even think it, Severus, I-" Lily started
"I mean, I'd rather have 'dirty blood' than be a sibling fucker" I said, cutting her off
"You better watch your-" Severus started, standing up.
"Severus, enough. Lav we're leaving. And for you, our friendship is over, I can't believe it even started it in the first place. Never speak to either of us again." Lily said before she grabbed my wrist and dragged me out of the library.
Well, I never expected that to happen.
I continued to just let her drag me because I promise you when Lily's mad you don't want to interrupt that.
I let her keep just dragging me to the Gryffindor tower with no question until she went the wrong direction.
What?
"Lils, where are we going?" I asked
After a minute we got up to a door, then it hit me.
The guys dorm.
She, pretty aggressively knocked on their door.
After a few seconds it opened and James was standing on the other side.
"Evans?" He said, obviously confused.
But here's the kicker, yes James opened the door, but I've yet to mention that James opened the door shirtless.
Yeah, Lily was a little...distracted.
And even funnier (to me at least), James noticed her checking him out.
That'll be a fun conversation for Lily later.
I gently slapped her on the arm.
"Oh, yeah, right, sorry, um, what was I doing?" Lily asked as she turned to me
"I don't know, you dragged me here" I said with a laugh.
"Oh, yeah, right" Lily said as she turned back to James.
You could see based off the look that came over James' face that he could tell something was up.
"Lily? What's up, you okay?" James asked, she paused for a minute.
"You'll never hear me say this again Potter, um, you were right" Lily said, he just sat there for a second.
"C'mere" James said
"What?" Lily said
"You'd only say that if something was seriously wrong, come in, both of you" James said as he opened up the door.
I followed Lily in and he happened to make eye contact with Sirius, he quickly patted the bed next to him.
I walked across the room to his bed and sat next to him.
"Okay, so what was I right about?" James asked.
Lily just looked at me as she sat quiet for a second.
Does she even know why we're here?
"Snape... I couldn't see it before because he was always good to me, but now I see it, and I see it clear, and looking back on the past three years and I'm seeing every little moment you guys were right about him," She started
"I didn't realize you were doing it for my well being, I though you were doing it so I'd talk to you more then him" She said
You could tell all of them were shocked by that.
Who am I kidding, I kind of am too, never thought she'd admit that to them.
"So what did he do that made you see it? If you don't mind me asking?" James asked
Lily looked over at me with a nervous look.
"Is it okay if I tell them?" She asked
"You know I don't mind, it went right over my head Lils, it's not a big deal" I said
"It's a big deal to me Lav, he had no right" Lily said
Yeah, I can feel Sirius staring into the side of my head right about now, I'm just choosing to ignore it.
"Okay, um, well we were studying and Lav figured out the topic we were working on and I got excited, his small mind couldn't get it, and got mad that she could and called her...called her...he called her a horrible thing" Lily said
All the guys were very visibly confused at this point.
They're not just gonna get this, hell, I didn't.
"A mud blood" I said, all of their faces immediately dropping.
"At least tell them the whole story, he called her a filthy...that" Lily said.
Yeah, safe to say none of the guys knew how to handle that one.
After a minute of silence, James finally stood up.
"Okay, so you two stay here, we go beat his ass, then come back here and we can have a nice night" James said, all the guys nodded and stood up.
"Nope" Both Lily and I said.
"It honestly went right over my head, I don't let comments from someone who looks like they haven't showered since Halloween get to me" I said.
Although he tried to hide it, I saw Remus crack a smile.
"You did stand your ground" Lily said.
"Please tell me you punched him in the bloody nose, it's a big enough target" Peter said
"That would've worked too, but this was better" Lily said
Oh dear lord.
"Don't" I said
Of course that only made the guys more interested.
"She called him a sibling-fucker" Lily said
"Okay I didn't call him a sibling-fucker...I just told him I'd rather have 'dirty blood' then be a sibling-fucker" I said
They all stayed quiet for a second.
Okay, I might've gone a little too far with that one.
After a minute Sirius just put his hand up.
Okay, maybe not too far.
I quickly gave him a high five before everyone ended up splitting into their own conversations.
Sirius laid back on his bed and tapped next to him for me to do the same.
Sirius being Sirius immediately wrapped his arm around me.
"So how did yours and James' Divination presentation go?" He asked
"Pretty good, I made James talk for most of it but we more just joked around the whole time" I said
"And bet my life savings that Trilomy didn't notice" He said
"Not at all" I said
We faded back into silence for a second before he spoke.
"Ven, are you sure you're okay? That was some deep hitting shit he said" Sirius asked
"Sirius, I grew up in a small town in rural London, I've been called a lot worse then a filthy mudblood" I said
"I don't know if you scare me or amaze me, Evans" He said
"I try my best" I joked.
~Sirius Blacks POV~
We all laid for probably half an hour before Lavender sat up.
"Wait, what time it is?" She asked
"Um, 6:30, why?" Remus asked
"Shit, I was supposed to meet Marlene, I'll catch up with you guys later" She said before she hopped up and ran out of the room.
"That girl" James said with a laugh.
"You think she's actually okay?" Lily asked
"I do, she wouldn't be able to hide it if she wasn't" I said
"He has a good point" Remus said.
"Do we know why she's meeting Marlene?" I asked
"No, why?" Lily asked
"Just curious" I said
"Oh, cause you don't want her to know about-" James started
"Oi, shut it" I said
"Shoot, sorry man" James said
"About what?" Lily asked
"Nothing, Petals" I said
"James?" She asked
"Nothing" He said
"Remus?" She said
"I actually don't know what they're talking about this time, I usually do" He said
"Same here" Peter said
"Is it something I need to worry about?" Lily asked
"Nope" James and I both said
"Okay..." Lily said after a minute.

~Marlene McKinnons POV~
Lavs never late, but she's also been stuck and a study date with Lily and Severus.
She may be puking in a corridor somewhere.
About 5 minutes after we were supposed to meet, Lav came running into the library.
"Hi sorry about that, I was with Lily and the guys" She said
"Ah, got away from Severus, eh?" I asked
"Yeah, don't mention that to Lily though, they are no longer on speaking terms and their friendship is over" She said
"Oh my, what happened?" I asked
"If I tell you we just move on afterwards, no questions, nothing" She said
"Okay" I said
"Um, so we studied, he got pissed off, called me a filthy mudblood, Lily ended their friendship right then and there" She said
"Holy shit, are you okay?" I asked, she just looked back at me.
"Right, no questions, moving on." I said
"So, fill me in, how was your break?" She asked

It's a real thing.
After every holiday, Lavender finds a time where we can sit down, just us and talk about what we've missed in the others life.
And she never misses an after holiday talk.
It's a very appreciated just us thing.
"Pretty normal, Greece is beautiful" I said
"And your parents were okay?" She asked
"I didn't see them too much, Matthew and I really just explored the whole time, it's such a magical city, you'd love it. When I go back I'm bringing you." I said
"That amazing Lene, it looked great from the pictures you hung up" She said
"Okay, how about you, how was the holiday of an Evans?" I asked
"Uneventful, pretty much like every other year" She said
"C'mon, Lav, there has to be something that happened" I said
"Nope, nothing" She said
"C'mon, new coffee shop? Funny movie? Good book? Cute boy? New music? Good food? Fun at work? Anything?" I asked
"Nada" She said
Yeah, I'd believe that if she wasn't blushing.
There's only one thing on that list that could be.
"Uh uh uh, you're blushing, let's backtrack" I said
"Lene-" She started
"Uh uh, don't Lene me, you blushed at cute boy, spill" I said
"It's not that he's cute-" She started
"Just something happened?" I asked
"Yeah" She said
"Good or bad?" I asked
"Good?" She said
"That sounded more like a question" I said
"Yeah, I can't exactly tell yet" She said
"Well tell me about him and what happened, it's not like I'll know him" I joked, she just stayed quiet.
"Hold on, Lavender, who is it?" I asked
"No one" She said
"Lav, I'm not gonna judge you" I said
"I know, you've done the same so you can't" She said
"Wait what? Now I'm really invested, Lav" I said
She sat quiet for a minute.
"Okay, if I tell you you talk to no one about it, including him" She said
"Obviously" I said, sticking out my pinky, she interlocked hers.
"Okay...um, so James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter may or may not have showed up at my house..." I said
"Ah, so you had a moment with a Marauder" I said
"Yeah-" She started
"Wait a minute, there's only one of them that I've done anything more then friendship with" I said
"I-" She started
"So, Lav, what happened between you and Sirius Black?" I asked
The red immediately came back to her face.
I called it, Sirius has to like her.
"I'm not here to judge, I've had a Sirius Black moment myself" I said
"He uh, kinda told me about that little rule you showed him" She said
"What rule- Oh my god you did not" I said
"Um...I did" She said
Yeah, she's basically the same color as her hair now.
"Oh my god, Lav, that's amazing! What're you guys now?"
"It's nothing Mars" She said
When you know Sirius Black like I do, it was obviously something.
"It's obviously something Lav, I made that up cause I had feelings for Sirius at the time" I said
"It was only a kiss" Lav said
"Yes, and your first kiss, with Sirius Black, who I'm 98% sure is into you" I said
"Oh my, Mars, it was just a kiss, I can tell you with 100% certainty that Sirius Black is not 'into me'" She said
Godric, Lavender, I love you but you can be so oblivious sometimes.
"Wait a minute, if you kissed Sirius under my fake rule, who'd you kiss before him?" I asked
"You're never gonna believe this cause he just kissed me, and I'm still quite a bit icked our by it" She said
"Who?" I asked
"Eric Thompson" She said
"Ew oh my god. I thought he hated you?" I said
"Nope, he confessed his feelings for me then kissed me" I said
"Yeah, I'd definitely let yourself believe and say that Sirius was your first kiss over him" I joked.
~Sirius Blacks POV~
"Okay, nobody's left here, we should head back" James said
"Good point" I said
With that we all got up and started heading out of the great hall.
"Siri, wait a sec?" I heard.
Marlene.
This can't be good.
James and Remus noticed I stopped, both giving me questioning looks.
Who am I kidding, I don't know either.
"Go ahead, I'll catch up" I said, after a second they walked away.
"What's up, McKinnon?" I asked
She just stood there for a minute, looking at me with an oddly amused look.
After a second it finally hit me.
"You talked to Evans" I said
"I did, and I want to hear everything" She said
I should've seen this coming, it's Marlene.
"It was only a kiss" I said
Cause it was, it was only a kiss.
"Now, she said the same thing but you guys said it in completely different fonts" Marlene said.
Am I really gonna do this?
"You were right" I said after a second.
"About what?" She asked, I just stayed quiet.
"Oh my god you like her" She said
"Yeah...I didn't plan on it but I do" I said
"Oh my god, Sirius" She said
"Mars it-" I started
"Was only a kiss, I know, but Siri, it's adorable, it's perfect-" She started
"And she can never know" I said
"And she can- wait hold on, what?" She said
"She can never know, but she'll never speak to me again after this" I said
So yeah, there's reasoning behind me asking so often what Lavendars doing to me.
The answer: a lot.
