PERSONALITY SUMMARY:
Crazy. That is how the people closest to Caleb would describe him and to be completely honest, they aren't wrong. He isn't the completely off his rocker and in need of a white padded room kind of crazy, though some people would beg to differ on that matter. But rather, as in a dreamer whose ambitions will lead them to self destruction if they're not careful. Luckily for Caleb, he hasn't started down this path (though he's sometimes walked right next to it), this is partly due to his attention to detail and organization, but in large part because of his realistic mindset and honesty with himself. While he's always been focused on details both big and small, his perfectionist side can have him obsessing over the smallest and most unimportant details for days. This obsessive side also allows Caleb to identify patterns quickly and plan in advance for any potential problems later on down the line. The execution of Caleb's unfiltered honesty with others can come across as condescending which often makes it difficult for the male to form close bonds- saying what's on his mind without a second thought, regardless of the situation and how it may affect someone. It doesn't help that Caleb tends to be closed off, not wanting people to know when he's stressed or relieved, or whatever it may be. He's been let down by people close to him before and since then he's never really opened himself up to others. His parents specifically invalidated his feelings and told him to grow up and be a man. Caleb has never really talked about what goes on through his mind unless it slips out in a moment of anger as a result of what his parents told him. Unlike the rest of his family, Caleb has a shorter temper and can get annoyed very easily. When irritated, he's completely unfiltered and will say whatever comes to mind without a second thought and more often than not he will not apologize until he's had time to himself to think. While quick to anger, Caleb is also the first to admit when he's in the wrong and is understanding of others as long as they're completely honest with him. People often flock to be around him; this is due to an empathetic and friendly charm that he carries which greatly benefited him when he was first bringing his business up off of the ground.

BACKSTORY:
Caleb was the youngest of three children and expectations from his parents were set based upon his older sisters' successes. Both Jacqueline and Ethan had associated academics with life success.
Growing up in the shadow of his sisters' successes teachers also often held high expectations for Caleb, believing that he'd be like them. Madeline and Laura had always taken honors and AP courses, making straight A's and honor roll and balanced school activities with them while making many friends. Both sisters had received academic scholarships amongst other awards when graduating. They were also some of the most social and well known people in the school.
Caleb was pretty much the polar opposite, just doing enough to pass his classes and get his diploma. Really the only thing he and his sisters had in common was that they attended the same school. He often spent his time learning about new trades rather than pushing himself in his academic studies. Which led to rifts in his relationship with his parents who thought academic excellence led to success in life. Fights with his parents eventually led to them essentially disowning him after he graduated.
Caleb hasn't spoken with his parents since he moved out and moved to a different state. He's talked with Laura twice and Madeline a small handful of times since relocating.
It wasn't until his parents knew of their son's success that they tried to reach out to him, which Caleb declined quickly.
Seven years have passed since he's spoken to his parents, five since he talked with Laura, and two years with Madeline.

SCENARIOS

1. Working for Caleb wasn't necessarily planned, in fact it wasn't something that had ever even crossed your mind until he confronted you at your table in This & That, the local cafe known best for its affordable prices and high quality and variety of coffee. You'd been working on papers for your current boss alongside general papers for owning an apartment and going to school, laptop open, fingers tapping the keys, earbuds in with music on when Caleb sat down in the seat across from you, an iced coffee in hand. Having frequented This & That you knew Caleb was a regular and had been there practically every day, always arriving at the same time each day and leaving at the same time consistently. Why he came over, you had no idea, as he seemed to sit by himself most days with an occasional friend who'd also worn a suit. He waited until you'd stopped typing and looked away from the screen before he introduced himself. "Caleb Montgomery," he'd told you, extending a hand that you'd shaken before stating your own name. "Nice to meet you. You're probably wondering why the héll I'm over here bothering you. I just wanted to offer you a job at my company- I'm sure you already have a really nice job, but I think you'll like what I have to offer," he had started to explain before giving you the details. You would be one of the first employees and there would be benefits. The rest was history, he had sold you on working for him and as it turned out, Caleb upheld his promises.
You'd been working for Caleb for six years now. Things had gone extremely well as he built up his business, and as promised there were benefits to you. The work was never too much to handle as Caleb did his best to keep the loads balanced between the employees and he paid people well. Though recently, something seemed to have changed and it almost felt like he was upset with you or punishing you. For the past three or four days he'd assigned you a myriad of tasks, some smaller and less relevant than others. The sudden change in the amount of work you received had caught you off guard and exhausted you. It didn't help that he seemed to be asking for an impossible amount of tasks to be done in a certain time frame.
Caleb had always told his employees to talk with him if they thought he was being unfair or if they were overwhelmed. Today you'd had enough, especially after realizing that your coworkers hadn't received nearly as much work as you had. At the end of your shift you had walked up to Caleb's office and knocked on the door before entering. "Pleasure seeing you this evening," Caleb greeted from his desk, his gaze focused on a small wood sculpture in his hand. "I assume this is about the amount of work I've given you. I'm just surprised it took you three days of exhaustion before you thought to talk with me." How do you respond?
2. After your friends had lovingly harassed you for months about 'getting back out there', you'd decided to make a profile on A Dozen Roses, a dating website. This wasn't something that you had told your friends until a girls night out on the town a month later, when they'd been teasing you and pointing out guys that they thought were attractive. You'd had a few drinks and figured it was time the cat was out of the bag. "I made a dating profile a month ago, okay?" Shocked, your friends had looked at you with raised brows and looks of confusion, wondering if you were joking or not. "I just haven't really seen anyone I'm interested in yet." The group cheered, happy to see that you were at least trying to move on in your romantic life from your ex who they'd thought never deserved you in the first place. It was a sight that just made you roll your eyes and smile, knowing that they just wanted the best for you.
A couple nights later, while scrolling through the site, you'd come across Caleb's profile. He was the first one that had actually even caught your interest. When you'd marked his profile as someone you were interested in, you noticed a notification that popped up saying, "Mutual interest: Talk to Caleb?" Clicking on the notification led to a long series of texts between the two of you over the next few weeks. These texts eventually led to a phone call after having only texted for three weeks. The phone call quickly turned into a FaceTime call and thankfully, he was who he said he was by the looks of it. The two of you talked frequently, sending a text or FaceTiming whenever there was a chance to. About a month later, Caleb finally asked if you'd wanted to meet at Starlight, a rather elegant and modern restaurant, for dinner. After getting a 'yes', plans were made and the details were figured out.
Tonight was the night you'd meet him in person, face to face for the first time. You'd let your friends know what was going on, where you'd be, how long you'd be out, the works, just in case things didn't work out. When you'd arrived at the restaurant at 7:00 that Thursday evening, you were greeted at the entrance by a tall male in a suit, hair styled ever so slightly, with hazel eyes. "Hey, (your character's name)?" How do you react?
