Chapter 131: Burial Mound, Forced Kiss

“Shut up!” Seeing the few brats chattering away as if their scars had already healed and they had forgotten the pain, Qi Zhenbai’s sharp, majestic phoenix eyes swept over the three indifferently, a stern warning in his gaze. They immediately covered their mouths and didn’t dare speak. They, too, knew that now wasn’t the time to say these words, and they continued to watch the ‘fight’ in front of them nervously.

Qi Zhenbai was more worried about the woman in front of him. At the thought that this woman was now covering him, Qi Zhenbai’s cold, hard heart couldn’t help but soften. He did want to help, but was afraid that it would be counterproductive, so he could only stand solemnly and stare intently at the somewhat pale woman in front of him. In case anything went wrong, he would immediately step forward to save her.

The ghost things were almost firmly pinned down. They sensed the danger and power of the Celestial Master in front of them and retreated in fear. Just when everyone thought they would be scared off –

A sharp screech rang out, followed by a command. The eyes of the scared and cowering ghost thing in front of them suddenly filled with blood and it went berserk. With a malevolent and deranged expression, it ignored the ghosts gnawing on it and rushed straight at Chi Shuyan to attack her with its gleaming bayonet. Even though more than half of its heads had been eaten by the ghosts, it didn’t stop brandishing the bayonet as it raised it to hack at Chi Shuyan.

Everyone jumped in fright when they saw Chi Shuyan being surrounded by the ghost things dragging their bright long blades behind them; they were clearly intent on focusing all their efforts on her alone.

“Sister Shuyan!”

“Master!” Zhu Bocheng, Qi Hao, and Wang Xuewen stared in horror and jumped in fright, shouting in unison.

“Everyone back off!” Chi Shuyan shouted at the people behind her.

Just as Chi Shuyan was planning to follow the sound of the earlier screech and jump out to catch the leader first, she didn’t expect a tall, upright figure to lift his foot and kick away a few of the ghost things as he quickly approached her, wrapping an arm around her waist.

Qi Zhenbai practically hugged her whole body in his arms, and when he saw a few of the ghost things pounce on him again, he quickly kicked them away one by one. Unfortunately, there were too many of them squeezed together; as soon as he kicked one away, another would take its place.

Qi Zhenbai was prepared to be cut a few times, but didn’t expect a ghost thing that had just approached him ferociously to suddenly freeze before it hurriedly retreated.

Qi Hao’s face changed drastically when his cousin courted death. He hurriedly shouted, “Brother!”

If anything really happened to his brother, he would be the eternal sinner of the Qi family.

“Zhenbai!” Zhu Bocheng roared anxiously. Not to mention Qi Hao, Zhu Bocheng and the others were also scared stiff, afraid that those ghost things would chop at that Qi family member.

Zhu Bocheng was so shocked by this scene that he broke out in a cold sweat.

Chi Shuyan heard the commotion and tilted her head to look at the deep and handsome face in front of her. She was alarmed. Why did Qi Zhenbai, this man, jump in?

However, she didn’t have time to think about it now. Wave after wave of sharp screams rang out, and many ghost things surged forward, raising their gleaming long blades to hack straight down.

“You guys get back, as far away as you can!” Chi Shuyan quickly yelled. Afraid that these ghost things in front of her would chop directly at the man next to her, she pulled at his hand so that he was pressed to her body and she instructed softly, “Stay close to me later. Don’t be nervous!”

There was no hint of tension or fear on Qi Zhenbai’s calm face. On the contrary, his thin, perfect lips curled up in exceptional satisfaction. “Okay, I’ll listen to you! I’ll only listen to you!”

The man’s intimate tone, deep and magnetic, made Chi Shuyan inexplicably tingle all over. Her face suddenly flushed red and she no longer bothered with him, but she heard the man suddenly say, “Wait!”

Chi Shuyan had just turned her head, when the man in front of her pinched her chin, and followed with a scorching kiss. The man’s action was powerful as his long tongue dove in and swept over hers domineeringly.

Chi Shuyan never expected this man to force a kiss on her in this setting. Before she could feel stunned, however, and even though she was clear-headed, the man’s purple aura still drew her to wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him back passionately as she greedily sucked in the purple aura in his mouth.

Qi Zhenbai had made a lot of guesses previously. After being apart for some time, he recalled a lot of things more calmly. Before, he had still been a bit uncertain. Now, seeing the woman’s pale face in front of him gradually flush from the kiss, he finally confirmed something. When he kissed her until she was panting, his eyes narrowed dangerously. “You have to be responsible for me after kissing me, hm?”

Zhu Bocheng, Qi Hao, and the others saw that Zhenbai was still in the mood to force a kiss on Sister Shuyan in such a dangerous place. They saw the skeletons dragging blades that were chasing after them.

Agitated, Zhu Bocheng hurriedly said, “Zhenbai, you brat, bear with it no matter how much you want to take advantage of Sister Shuyan. If the two of you keep kissing, we’re going to die!”

“Brother, Sister-in-law, help!” Qi Hao and the others also wailed in fright!

Chapter 132: Burial Mound, Getting a Certificate?

Seeing that the others were in danger, Chi Shuyan had no time to worry about being taken advantage of. She immediately calmed down and quickly formed a complicated hand seal with both hands. A cluster of white flames leaped out of her fingertips and her fingers turned into claws. With a stern look, she quickly struck out in all directions.

Zhu Bocheng as well as Qi Hao and the others, who were originally pursued by those ghost things, were covered in sweat. Jian Chongying in particular was still unconscious, and they had to drag a full-grown adult along with them. They were tired, sweaty and anxious.

They were about to go berserk and remind Sister Shuyan not to forget their existence, when they suddenly saw this fantastic scene which shook their worldview.

The temperature in the tomb suddenly soared and flames spread in all directions like countless waves thousands of feet high. They darted forward fiercely and aggressively swallowed the numerous ghost things blocking the fork.

The ghost things screamed, and before they could scream a second time, this dense crowd of ghost things was directly burned into lumps of sticky black liquid by countless swift and aggressive fire dragons. Even the gleaming blades in their hands swiftly melted into molten iron and seeped into the ground, rendering that terrifying scene just now short-lived.

Zhu Bocheng thought he had placed Sister Shuyan on a high enough pedestal after the last series of shocks. Looking at this blinding scene now, however, his worldview was simply refreshed yet again!

He would believe Sister Shuyan if she told him she was a god!

Did she have to be so awesome?

F*ck! He wanted to curse, what should he do?

As for Qi Hao and the others, their expressions were even more exaggerated. Their eyes had only popped out earlier, but now, they were completely stupefied by the stunning scene in front of them.

The brats stared at Chi Shuyan with burning eyes and were extremely excited. Their gazes were stuck to her not far away and couldn’t be pulled away.

“Okay! We can leave now!” Chi Shuyan saw that she had finally resolved the matter in this tomb and heaved a sigh of relief. She took a step forward, but perhaps because she had used too much spiritual energy just now, her body suddenly went limp.

Qi Zhenbai could now be considered fairly immune to the strange and mysterious methods of the woman in front of him. Seeing her deathly pale face and how she was about to collapse, the apathetic and complex expression on his face vanished and he swiftly scooped her up into his arms. With a gentle gaze and deep worry, he narrowed his eyes and suddenly asked seriously, “Would you like to kiss me again?”

Chi Shuyan: …

Everyone: Shameless!

When Chi Shuyan heard the man’s words, she couldn’t help but recall the forced kiss just now. Her face stiffened and she was afraid that this man would force another kiss on her in public. If she kissed him back again, the misunderstanding would become even more awkward.

She hurriedly stood up straight, put some distance between her and the man, and said directly, “No need, I’m fine!” With that, Chi Shuyan tilted her head and quickly said to Zhu Bocheng and the others, “The yin energy here is too strong, it’s not good to hang around here for long. Everyone, get out first! It’s fine now!” After speaking, she immediately led the way.

Qi Zhenbai was just about to catch up, but the rascals were faster than he was. After tossing the unconscious Jian Chongying to Zhu Bocheng, the few rascals buzzed and swarmed around his woman to fawn on her.

Each was more ingratiating than the next.

“Master, you’re too awesome! I’m Lu Chengfu, you can call me Fufu in the future!” Lu Chengfu said with a smile.

“Master, you’ll be my only idol from now on. I’m Wang Xuewen, you can call me Wen…!” Wang Xuewen gritted his teeth; he couldn’t compare with Lu Chengfu’s disgusting mushiness. He hurriedly corrected himself. “Xuewen, you can call me Xuewen!”

Qi Hao even more shamelessly moved closer to Chi Shuyan and instantly killed the two of them as he shouted, “Sister-in-law, my name is Qi Hao, my dad is Qi Tianning, my mom is Yang Man, and my grandpa is Qi Zhenying. I also have one elder uncle and several younger uncles. My family is very, very good, and you can call me Haozi from now on. By the way, Sister-in-law, when are you going to register your marriage with my brother? Why don’t you go back today and get the certificate?”

Chapter 133: Burial Mound, Courting Favor

Because Jian Zhongying’s injury was too severe, Chi Shuyan drew out the yin energy from his shoulder and everyone quickly sent him to Yonglin County Hospital, which was the closest.

After confirming that Jian Chongying was fine, Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu regained the enthusiasm which they had shown Chi Shuyan in the tomb; one was more fawning than the other.

Chi Shuyan didn’t remain standing in the ward for long before one of the boys immediately dragged a chair over for her to sit down.

The other brats were naturally unwilling to fall behind. Once Chi Shuyan was seated, they changed her tea in quick succession in less than a few minutes.

Qi Hao affectionately called her “Sister-in-law” repeatedly, and Lu Chengfu and the others also directly changed the way they addressed her. They didn’t call her “Master,” and followed suit in calling her “Sister-in-law.”

The boys almost came to blows a few times over the qualification to call her that. Meeting the scorching gaze of the man full of presence beside her from time to time, as well as Zhu Bocheng’s teasing eyes, Chi Shuyan only felt incomparably embarrassed and distressed. She couldn’t help but recall Qi Hao’s earlier question at the turbulent burial mound about when she was marrying his brother, and if they were getting the certificate that day.

She had been completely stupefied by Qi Hao’s words back then.

Qi Zhenbai had wanted to teach these rascals a lesson before, but seeing how they went from being hindrances to helping and calling the woman in front of them “Sister-in-law,” Qi Zhenbai was expressionless and didn’t say anything. Inwardly, he was satisfied, and he found these rascals particularly pleasing to the eye.

It was just that it wasn’t long before he saw these rascals eagerly “groping” his woman, and his expressionless cold face instantly darkened, black as the bottom of a pot.

Unfortunately, the rascals were still immersed in their fawning, afraid that they would be one step slower than the others, so how could they notice Young Master Qi’s dark face?

“Sister-in-law, I’m sure your shoulders are tired. I’ll help you massage them!”

“Sister-in-law, are your legs sore? I’ll thump your legs!”

“Sister-in-law, is your back sore? I’ll thump your back!”

Chi Shuyan was utterly helpless in the face of the boys’ excessive fawning. Wang Xuewen was even more thick-skinned to the extreme. He quickly found an opportunity to ask, “Sister-in-law, after I finish thumping your back, can you help me feel my roots and bones later to see if I have talent?” After he said that, Wang Xuewen quickly showed a bashful expression, then said, under Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu’s gnashing teeth and contemptuous looks, “Maybe I have talent in this area too! Then, I’ll serve you tea and water, and wash clothes every day from now on. That’s enough to satisfy me.”

Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu: So shameless!

After coming back from the burial mound and watching these brats fawn over Chi Shuyan, the smile Zhu Bocheng had been holding back finally cracked at Wang Xuewen’s thick skin and shameless words. Pfft! Zhu Bocheng clutched his chest and laughed out loud and so hard that he had tears in his eyes. As he laughed, he mocked, “Xuewen, you’re good, kid. Touching the bones to look for talent. You’ve gone stupid from watching wuxia dramas everyday! Sister Shuyan doesn’t have to do it; let me.” As he spoke, Zhu Bocheng pretended to give Wang Xuewen a look, then shook his head. “You really don’t have any talent!”

Dealt a blow, Wang Xuewen’s face went red.

Qi Hao and the others split their sides laughing.

Chi Shuyan finally figured out the reason for Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao’s excessive hospitality, and was caught between laughter and tears. She didn’t refuse and said that after Jian Chongying recovered, she would have a feel of their roots. However, Chi Shuyan also revealed the truth: They were too old now. Even if they had some talent, it was too late for them to learn now. Learning it on a superficial level to scare outsiders was fine, but anything deeper would depend on luck.

Chi Shuyan changed the subject and suddenly mentioned the talismans, asking if they had used them all up.

Qi Hao and Wang Xuewen’s talismans had long been used up, but the one which Lu Chengfu had was still useful. Lu Chengfu thought that Sister-in-law was going to take it back. Not to mention that this talisman had saved his life countless times, just seeing the power of this talisman each time in King Ying’s tomb, how could Lu Chengfu bear to return it? He wanted to keep it as a peerless treasure, for fear that he would encounter something else.

Lu Chengfu anxiously said, “Sister… Sister-in-law, can you give me this talisman?”

As soon as Lu Chengfu finished speaking, Qi Hao suddenly said, “Punk, give me back that talisman!”

In the tomb before, with lives at stake, Qi Hao couldn’t snatch the talisman back, but now that everyone was fine, Qi Hao remembered the power of that talisman whenever it was used. He immediately said, “Chengfu, did you hear me? Hurry up and give me that talisman in your hand. I was the one who gave it to you in the beginning, but now I’m not willing. Give it back to me first!”

Chapter 134: Burial Mound, Desire to Possess

How could Lu Chengfu be willing to give it back? Hearing Haozi’s words, he panicked for fear that the rascal would suddenly grab it from him. He was still worried even after hiding the talisman in the safest place in his pocket, and he covered his chest and said, “Haozi, have a heart. You randomly threw this talisman to me back then. I didn’t want it, yet you forced it on me. Since you gave it to me, it’s mine.”

Seeing the particularly spectacular regret on Haozi’s face in front of him, Lu Chengfu continued to stab his good friend in the heart. “Besides, that rascal Wang Xuewen burned so many of the talismans; why aren’t you making a fuss about that? You also didn’t ask Chongying to return the talismans you gave him. In the end, don’t you just covet my talisman? Want me to give it to you?” Lu Chengfu snorted. “No way! Over my dead body!”

As they talked, they brought up the talismans being burnt again. Wang Xuewen felt guilty and remorseful. He hurriedly snuck a glance in Chi Shuyan’s direction out of the corner of his eye, afraid that his apprenticeship with her would go up in smoke because of this trivial matter. With a forehead full of cold sweat, he blinked anxiously at the two people in front of him. “Can you not mention this matter? I… This, this, this… It wasn’t intentional. Was my brain muddled back then?”

He had been so full of himself when he burned them back then. Now, he was filled with just as much regret. Those talismans were simply treasures among treasures in his eyes now. It pained him to think about it!

Moreover, he felt that there might have been a few powerful ones like Lu Chengfu’s among the talismans he burned back then. After his narrow escape from death this time, he had a very deep impression of Lu Chengfu’s talisman.

He recalled how, because of that talisman, all those ghost things went around Lu Chengfu, and how that brat still had time to eat chicken drumsticks in that damn place.

Wang Xuewen was now filled with envy and deep regret. Why were his hands so cheap back then?!

He also now knew that strange things existed in the world. The trauma left in his heart from this adventure was too great. He was simply afraid that he would run into that kind of ghost stuff again. Those talismans were simply life-saving treasures.

But before he could even become a disciple and ask about the talismans, he was dragged back into this matter. Wang Xuewen was utterly vexed, afraid that he would offend his future ‘Master.’

“Get lost!” Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu shouted at Wang Xuewen in unison.

Wang Xuewen eyed Chi Shuyan out of the corner of his eye, afraid that she would be angry. With trembling lips and a pitiful expression, he suddenly tugged at Chi Shuyan’s sleeve, looking for sympathy. “Sister-in-law, I… I really didn’t do it on purpose!”

Chi Shuyan wasn’t angry, but Zhu Bocheng was reminded of Wang Xuewen burning the talismans when Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu brought it up. At the thought that half of those precious talismans had been burned by this brat, he still couldn’t help but vomit blood.

Zhu Bocheng didn’t care how Wang Xuewen quibbled about it; he took off his shoe and threw it at Wang Xuewen’s head. “You f*cking burned them. How many did you burn back then, you brat? Pay them all back with interest later! If you don’t, I’ll make you spit them out!”

Wang Xuewen really wanted to cry this time.

Qi Zhenbai was already uncomfortable seeing these rascals pester his woman, and seeing this Wang brat grope her, his pair of fierce eyes almost bore holes into the boy’s hand that was tugging his woman’s sleeve despite his extremely calm face.

Wang Xuewen sensed something wasn’t right and suddenly met the stern eyes of this Qi family member. He jumped in fright and quickly let go.

Qi Zhenbai strode over and wrapped his arm possessively around Chi Shuyan’s shoulders, his tone powerful and irrefutable. “Go out, I have something to say!”

Chapter 135: Burial Mound, Something Happened to Wang Xuewen Again

Chi Shuyan was standing at a window in the hospital corridor, the tall man next to her. The two looked at each other wordlessly, and neither was the first to speak. The atmosphere was very quiet and a little awkward.

Chi Shuyan felt that she would have rather stayed in Jian Chongying’s ward a little longer just now than hang around outside here in this strange atmosphere.

She wasn’t a taciturn person, but whenever she was in front of this man, she was either embarrassed or didn’t know what to say!

Qi Zhenbai didn’t know what the woman in front of him was thinking. It was the first time he was interacting with a woman he liked, so he was very cautious and afraid that she would be repulsed by him.

Chi Shuyan wondered if she should just open her mouth and talk about how nice the weather was. Or she could go back to the ward, but what reason could she give?

At that moment, the man suddenly said, “If you want to register for marriage, we can do it when we get back to the capital!”

Chi Shuyan stared blankly for a long time without understanding what the man meant. When she did, she stared at the man in front of her as if she had seen a ghost.

Forget the fact that she wasn’t the legal age to marry yet, but even if she was, it wouldn’t be to this man, alright? And were they close? When did she say she wanted to marry him?

Chi Shuyan blurted out her thoughts and Qi Zhenbai was immediately rendered speechless. His originally very handsome face turned even darker. He gritted his teeth and retorted coldly, “We’ve swallowed each other’s saliva; how can we not be close?”

Chi Shuyan was rendered speechless by the shameless man in front of her. He suddenly pinched her chin with his slender fingers and narrowed his long, sharp eyes. He stared at her lips and said, “What? Do you still want to get to know me better?”

The man in front of her gave Chi Shuyan goosebumps all over and she flushed red in embarrassment. “Don’t, don’t… Don’t take things too far!” Afraid that he would take it too far, she quickly found a random excuse. “I have no plans to register for marriage yet, I’m still young!”

Qi Zhenbai narrowed his eyes, his expression unreadable for a moment. His eyes suddenly swept over her chest and he said meaningfully, “You’re not young anymore, we can get engaged first!”

Although Chi Shuyan was young, her figure was very good and she had curves; her bosom, in particular, was far superior to her peers.

Chi Shuyan had memories of her past life and could be considered an adult; she knew what the man meant with his look and that “not small[1] anymore.”

She had experienced a lot, but this was her first time dealing with relationship matters. The man in front of her suddenly declared proudly that she had big breasts. Embarrassed and furious with shame, Chi Shuyan flushed red and had the urge to dig a hole and bury this man. “Get lost!”

“No, I won’t get lost. If I do, I won’t have a wife anymore!” Qi Zhenbai’s lips curled into a light smile. Sunlight shone on the man’s face. It had to be said that he was really good-looking. Even when he was acting like a rogue, he still had a serious and noble appearance.

Without waiting for the woman in front of him to speak, Qi Zhenbai coaxed, “We’re engaged, you can kiss me whenever you want in the future!”

“Not good! Not good! Zhenbai, Sister Shuyan, hurry and take a look at that kid Wang Xuewen, and see what the hell is growing out of that kid’s back!” Zhu Bocheng was so anxious that he was sweating profusely. He thought about how Wang Xuewen had suddenly rolled over the floor in pain. He kept scratching his back until his hands were covered in blood. The others had panicked and pressed Wang Xuewen’s hands down as they tried to take a look at the kid’s back.

Who would have thought that what they saw would scare them so much that they broke out in cold sweat and shuddered in fear: Two strange human faces had suddenly grown out of the kid’s back. The faces even smiled at them, and the smiles were incomparably sinister and strange.

Thinking this, Zhu Bocheng’s hands trembled violently and his face was especially pale. He was even more terrified than when he had entered King Ying’s tomb.

Chapter 136: Burial Mound, Human and Ghost Face Boils (1)

When Chi Shuyan returned to the ward, Wang Xuewen’s screams still hadn’t stopped. He was covered in cold sweat and held down by the two boys, Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao. The back of his shirt had been lifted up, and the bloody gashes along with the two strange faces on his back were a ghastly sight.

Seeing Chi Shuyan and the others come in, the two faces seemed to sense something and smiled strangely at the three of them, and an odor permeated the air.

Even though Zhu Bocheng had seen Wang Xuewen’s back earlier and was prepared, he was still horrified by the scratches and the two strange faces when he looked at them now. Qi Zhenbai’s face also changed when his eyes landed on the two faces on Wang Xuewen’s back.

Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao were covered in cold sweat as they pressed Wang Xuewen down and retched in fear. The two boys hadn’t dared look at Wang Xuewen’s back all this time, and now that they saw Chi Shuyan come in, it was as if they were seeing their savior. Like frightened puppies, they hurriedly shouted, “Sister-in-law, Sister-in-law, help!”

Chi Shuyan pulled out an Immobilization Talisman and threw it at Wang Xuewen without a change in expression. After pinning Wang Xuewen down, she had Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao let go. Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao accidentally touched the two faces growing out of Wang Xuewen’s back, and they ran to the side in horror and retched until they were light-headed.

Zhu Bocheng couldn’t care less about their reactions and hurriedly asked Chi Shuyan, “Sister Shuyan, what the hell is going on? What the hell is that thing on his back?”

The more Zhu Bocheng looked at Wang Xuewen’s back, the more disgusted he felt. The two faces weren’t too big yet, but those evil smiles were especially pronounced. They seemed to sense Zhu Bocheng’s fear, and strange, malicious smiles tugged at the corners of their lips. If Zhu Bocheng had been on his own here, he would have died from a heart attack. He wiped the cold sweat on his forehead and looked anxious.

Apart from the change in his expression at the very beginning, Qi Zhenbai was very calm when he looked at Wang Xuewen’s back. His eyes were pensive and deep as he stared at the two faces. Even though they smiled evilly at him, his expression didn’t change in the slightest. Seeing that they weren’t able to scare him, the smiles changed into a mixture of irritation and hatred, as if they would break out of Wang Xuewen’s back and rush over to devour Qi Zhenbai at any moment.

Zhu Bocheng sweated even more on his forehead. He really wasn’t as bold as Zhenbai. He couldn’t help but ask again, “Sister Shuyan, what’s wrong with the Wang brat? It can’t be that even you can’t see it! What are we going to do?”

Chi Shuyan stared at the two faces on Wang Xuewen’s back for a while, then walked over to Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu, who were light-headed from retching, and had them tell her everything that happened when they entered the burial mound.

Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu didn’t react to the words “buriad mound,” until Chi Shuyan reminded them, “It’s the ‘King Ying’s tomb’ you were talking about.”

Before this, Chi Shuyan had been worried about frightening the kids and hadn’t intended to tell them that they hadn’t gone to a tomb at all, but a turbulent burial mound.

As for what a burial mound implied, Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu were also very clear. When they heard Chi Shuyan’s words, their faces immediately changed color and their bodies turned cold with fright. Their teeth couldn’t help but chatter, and Qi Hao was even more anxious to confirm it. “Sister… Sister-in-law, are you saying what I think…? Isn’t… isn’t that a tomb?”

Chi Shuyan then said, “Do you know why that area has always been deserted and no one dares to go there? Didn’t you ask the people in Yongning County before you went there? That area used to be the imperial residence. Later, except for a few families who left, everyone else died there. The yin energy in that area is too heavy. From beginning to end, more than 100,000 people died there, but no one collected their bodies and they were all buried in that area. The number of bones buried underground is no less than 100,000, and this is commonly known as a turbulent burial mound. If you don’t believe me, go back and pick a random place to dig. I guarantee you’ll dig up human bones anywhere.”

Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu were so shocked that their bodies turned cold again and they almost cried with fear. It was as if someone had poured a basin of cold water on their feet in the dead of winter, and the chill traveled from the bottom of their feet all the way up to their hearts. They were alarmed and terrified. The two shook their heads fiercely. They would never go back to that damn place, not even if they were beaten to death.

“Alright, from beginning to end, tell me everything that happened!” Chi Shuyan said.

Chapter 137: Burial Mound, Human and Ghost Face Boils (2)

Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao stood obediently, looking even more well-behaved than primary school students. They recounted their trip to the burial mound honestly from beginning to end.

Chi Shuyan didn’t have much of an opinion about Wang Xuewen and Si Yinghua courting death to pick up girls, but Lu Chengfu then mentioned that from the moment he entered the tomb, the talisman he was holding got hotter and hotter. It burned when he first entered the tomb, and then scalded his hand even more when he saw the image of a possessed Wang Xuewen.

Not long after that, Wang Xuewen’s personality changed drastically when he found an antique blade, and he became just like those monsters they saw later. Not only did he smile sinisterly at them, he also dragged the blade behind him as he chased after them. Sun Jiezhen and Jiang Meng were caught off-guard and were chopped into pieces.

Hearing this, there was a slight pause in Chi Shuyan’s expression, and she suddenly said to Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao, “You two come here and take a closer look at the two faces on Wang Xuewen’s back.”

Before Chi Shuyan could finish speaking, the two boys shook their heads in fright. Chi Shuyan could only say, “Look at the two faces on his back first and see if you can identify them. I need to confirm something before I can save him!”

Only then did Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao grit their teeth and walk over to Wang Xuewen. When they opened their eyes and saw the strange twisted faces on his back, they almost pissed their pants and retched again.

Chi Shuyan didn’t rush them, and said unhurriedly, “Don’t be nervous! You need to be efficient, however, or we might miss the chance. After that, these two faces will grow larger and larger until they cover Wang Xuewen’s back and suck him dry of his vitality; saving him then will be difficult!”

It wasn’t just Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu who were stupefied by Chi Shuyan’s words; even Zhu Bocheng and Qi Zhenbai gasped.

Forget the two ghost faces covering the whole of his back; even when they couldn’t be considered very big right now, they could still scare people to death. Zhu Bocheng and the others simply didn’t dare to imagine how terrifying it would be if this damn thing covered all of Wang Xuewen’s back.

If they really let this damn thing grow all over Wang Xuewen’s back, they might as well kill themselves first.

Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu’s fingers and legs never stopped trembling. They resisted the urge to retch in fear that this damn thing would suddenly grow on their backs. As if understanding their fear, Chi Shuyan pressed down on their shoulders and said, “These ghosts have nothing to do with you! Look at the faces first!”

Only then did the two boys sigh with relief. Swallowing down the urge to gag, they stared fearfully for a while, before Qi Hao said with some hesitation in his eyes, “Sister-in-law, these two faces look like the two women whom Wang Xuewen killed when he was possessed. They’re Sun Jiezhen and Jiang Meng!”

At Qi Hao’s words, Lu Chengfu also had more confidence. “Yeah, I felt they were a little familiar but I wasn’t sure where I’d seen them before. Now that Haozi has mentioned it, I remember: These two faces are very similar to Sun Jiezhen and Jiang Meng – no, it is them!”

Lu Chengfu asked curiously, “Sister-in-law, aren’t these two women dead? Why are their faces growing on Xuewen?”

Qi Zhenbai and Zhu Bocheng also looked at Chi Shuyan curiously, hoping for a reply.

Qi Zhenbai was more patient than Zhu Bocheng. Afraid that Zhu Bocheng would disturb his woman, he motioned for him to speak less.

Zhu Bocheng could only shut up obediently and swallow his bellyful of questions.

After listening to the two brats, Chi Shuyan stared at Wang Xuewen’s back with some confidence and wasn’t in a hurry to reply to Lu Chengfu.

When she first saw the two human faces on Wang Xuewen’s back, she had thought that they were ghost face boils at first, but these two human faces obviously weren’t anything as simple as ghost face boils. The two distorted human faces carried resentment and yin energy. They were very insidious and were very much like human face boils.

Although it was only a one-word difference between human face and ghost face boils, the two were drastically different. The former was mostly retribution for evil people who had done evil deeds, while ghost face boils were simply a type of Gu[1].

She hadn’t been able to figure out if it was ghost face boils on Wang Xuewen’s back, but they weren’t likely to be human face boils either. She had taken several looks at Wang Xuewen’s countenance. Apart from this life or death calamity, he had pretty good fortune on the whole. His features were clean and his eyes clear, so naturally, he couldn’t be someone who did heinous deeds.

But these two faces had suddenly grown on his back. Thinking of what Lu Chengfu had said before, Chi Shuyan could only say that Wang Xuewen, this rascal, was unlucky. His luck was too bad. It was likely that the grievances of these two people had been too great before they died, and all their grievances were blamed on Wang Xuewen, this rascal, which resulted in the human face boils growing on his back.

As Chi Shuyan pondered, Wang Xuewen woke up at some point.

Qi Hao, Lu Chengfu, and Zhu Bocheng hurriedly said, “Are you awake? Xuewen, are you awake?”

Chapter 138: Burial Mound, Wang Xuewen’s Scream

Wang Xuewen woke up in a daze and found it strange that Qi Hao and the others were staring at him nervously. His mind was blank and the pain in his back from time to time was particularly uncomfortable. He wanted to scratch his back, but couldn’t move for a moment.

Wang Xuewen said weakly to Qi Hao and the others, “Haozi, I want to use the restroom!”

As he spoke, he tried to get up, but found that he couldn’t move a finger. He was a bit anxious in his heart, afraid that he was experiencing some sort of aftereffect. “What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I move? Wasn’t I fine just now?”

The more Wang Xuewen thought about it, the more anxious he became. Chi Shuyan was afraid that he would work himself into a fury and scare himself, so she just told him to calm down first. She then removed the Immobilization Talisman and told Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu to accompany Wang Xuewen to the restroom first, and also to stop him from scratching his back or looking in the mirror.

Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu agreed nervously.

After the two accompanied Wang Xuewen to the washroom, the other three were the only ones left in the ward. The more Zhu Bocheng thought about Wang Xuewen, the more anxious he became. Si Yinghua was already dead, and it would be hard for them to give an account to the Si family. If the Wang family was added to the list… Zhu Bocheng’s head hurt just thinking about it.

Although he kept scolding Wang Xuewen that brat on the surface, he was actually very fond of him. This boy might be a bit of a miscreant on ordinary days, but he had a good character.

Zhu Bocheng got goosebumps when he thought about the two strange faces on Wang Xuewen’s back and was very worried at the same time. Now that the boys weren’t around, Zhu Bocheng hurriedly asked Chi Shuyan, “Sister Shuyan, did you see anything on Wang Xuewen’s back? Is it serious? Is it serious? That damn thing won’t grow on Haozi, Chengfu, and Chongying’s backs too, right? Or will it grow on anyone who goes to that kind of burial mound?”

The more Zhu Bocheng thought about it, the more scared he became. He couldn’t imagine the disgusting appearance of that damn thing growing out of his back at all.

Chi Shuyan saw that Zhu Bocheng was scaring himself so much that his face turned pale and he shivered, which was a stark contrast to the extraordinarily calm and silent man next to him.

Chi Shuyan was afraid that Zhu Bocheng would really scare himself to death, so she said, “Nothing of the sort, Brother Zhu. Didn’t you hear what Young Master Qi and Young Master Lu said? They know the two faces on Wang Xuewen’s back.”

Zhu Bocheng was very puzzled.

Qi Zhenbai, however, suddenly opened his mouth and ordered her to change how she addressed “Young Master Qi”: “Qi Hao; that boy will also be your cousin from now on!”

Chi Shuyan was confused for a moment, not understanding what he meant. Zhu Bocheng immediately got it, however, and his eyes darted back and forth between their faces.

Although Haozi jokingly asked when the two would register their marriage, in Zhu Bocheng’s opinion, his best friend still had a way to go in courting his wife. Who would have thought that they would suddenly become strangely closer on a trip? If it wasn’t for the fact that the timing and location weren’t right, he would definitely have pried out some gossip about their relationship from Zhenbai’s mouth.

Chi Shuyan didn’t reply to the man in front of her, but continued to answer Zhu Bocheng, “Brother Zhu, have you heard of ghost face boils and human face boils?”

Without waiting for Zhu Bocheng’s reply, Chi Shuyan continued, “The former is a Gu, while the latter is mostly retribution for those who have committed too many atrocities and evil deeds. The two faces on Young Master Wang’s back should be human face boils!”

Zhu Bocheng immediately retorted, “Sister Shuyan, you’re mistaken about that Wang Xuewen kid. He looks carefree normally, but he really has no bad intentions. How could he have done anything evil? I can’t guarantee anything about the others, but this kid grew up under my watch. How can I not tell good from bad? If you don’t believe me, you can ask Zhenbai. Zhenbai has a particularly accurate eye for people. You can ask him!”

When Chi Shuyan saw Qi Zhenbai frown slightly and look at her with raised eyebrows, she continued in an unhurried tone, “I was referring to the majority just now, as well as a minority. For example, someone like Wang Xuewen was unlucky enough to be possessed and kill people. The deceased died horribly with too much resentment, so all the resentment was directed at him, which led to the formation of human…” face sores.

Before Chi Shuyan could finish speaking, there was a blood-curdling scream of extreme horror from the restroom. Who else could it be but Wang Xuewen?

Chapter 139: Burial Mound, Possessed Again!

“Sister-in-law, cousin, help! Help!” Qi Hao’s voice rang out in the wake of Wang Xuewen’s screams. Qi Zhenbai was the first to react, and he walked to the washroom and lifted his foot to kick the door open. He was so strong that he kicked a hole in the door, and the commotion naturally attracted the attention of the hospital nurse.

Chi Shuyan gave Zhu Bocheng a meaningful look. Zhu Bocheng quickly understood, and only then did Chi Shuyan immediately enter the washroom. She saw Wang Xuewen strangling Qi Hao with a hideous look on his face while Lu Chengfu was unconscious on the side.

Fortunately, Qi Zhenbai was quick, and he kicked Wang Xuewen away to save Qi Hao.

Qi Hao’s face was flushed red from being strangled, and he stared in horror at Wang Xuewen, who was grinning sinisterly at him and giving him the creeps. “Sister-in-law, Wang Xuewen, he… He’s been possessed again!”

As soon as Qi Hao finished speaking, Wang Xuewen, who had just been kicked away, rushed toward Qi Hao again with bloodshot eyes and a strange, evil smile as one hand scratched over the wall, leaving behind bloody gouges.

Zhu Bocheng had just finished dealing with the nurse and was about to enter the washroom, when he saw the possessed Wang Xuewen rushing in his direction with such a strange and evil smile. He was so scared that he almost turned around and ran away. Chi Shuyan immediately flung out an Immobilization Talisman.

Even though ‘Wang Xuewen’ froze in place, his face was hideously twisted, and he flashed a wicked smile at the people in the room from time to time. Zhu Bocheng’s legs trembled and he leaned against the wall for support. He wanted to enter, but didn’t dare. Eventually, seeing that Sister Shuyan was there, Zhu Bocheng supported himself against the wall and entered. He blurted out anxiously and fearfully, “Holy mother, what the hell is this?”

Chi Shuyan didn’t answer. She knelt down and was about to wake Lu Chengfu up, when the man in front of her grabbed her hand possessively. “I’ll do it!”

With that, the man pressed an acupuncture point on Lu Chengfu, who gradually regained consciousness. When he woke up, he was frightened by the sight of Haozi’s cousin’s cold face. When he saw the others, he heaved a sigh of relief and quickly asked, “What happened to me?”

Lu Chengfu didn’t have to wonder for long. When he saw Wang Xuewen, who was frozen in front of him with a particularly malevolent and abnormal expression, he immediately remembered what just happened. He and Haozi had accompanied Wang Xuewen to the washroom. The two weren’t on guard against Wang Xuewen at all, and because of Haozi’s sister-in-law’s words, they were worried that Wang Xuewen would be frightened seeing the human faces on his back. They didn’t expect Wang Xuewen to suddenly attack them.

Lu Chengfu still had the talisman in his pocket, so the other party didn’t dare touch him. Haozi, on the other hand… Thinking of Qi Hao, Lu Chengfu quickly looked in Qi Hao’s direction. Seeing that there was nothing serious apart from the horrible-looking strangulation mark around his neck, Lu Chengfu was alarmed but also relieved at the same time.

Zhu Bocheng’s lips quivered. He took a few more looks at ‘Wang Xuewen,’ whose face was extremely hideous and whose veins were bulging, and at Haozi, whose neck was purple from being throttled. He took a few deep breaths and shuddered violently. He looked to Chi Shuyan for help. “Sister Shuyan, what do we do now?”

Chi Shuyan didn’t say anything, but took out an Awake Talisman and a Sleep Talisman for the time being and stuck them on Wang Xuewen.

Wang Xuewen quickly sobered up before he immediately fainted again. However, the few who had seen his sinister smile just now were still trembling with fear. Who would dare help him?

It was only when Chi Shuyan spoke that Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu finally acted with trepidation. Seeing the purple ring around Qi Hao’s neck, Chi Shuyan said to Zhu Bocheng, “Brother Zhu, take over for Young Master Qi…” Before she finished speaking, she inexplicably remembered the irrefutable order of the man surnamed Qi in front of her, and corrected herself. “Brother Zhu, take over for Qi Hao and help Lu Chengfu put Wang Xuewen on the bed first. I’ll draw a few more Peace Talismans for all of you!”

Although Zhu Bocheng was still nervous, he wasn’t the only one here, after all. Even though Wang Xuewen was possessed again, Zhu Bocheng believed in Sister Shuyan’s abilities. But even then, he feigned reluctance on the surface. “Sister Shuyan, you haven’t even gotten your certificate and you’re already helping Zhenbai protect him. Is that good?”

“Do you have a problem with that?” Qi Zhenbai narrowed his eyes with a cold face, looking particularly intimidating.

Chapter 140: Burial Mound, Stay Further Away From Men

As soon as Qi Zhenbai spoke, Zhu Bocheng, who could always adapt to the situation, naturally didn’t dare say more.

While waiting for the two to help Wang Xuewen to the bed, Chi Shuyan closed the door and took out cinnabar and talisman paper from her bag, found a quiet place, and began to draw talismans.

Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao’s eyes glowed brighter than light bulbs as they stared in Chi Shuyan’s direction. Chi Shuyan simply let the two of them come over and take a look, but they had to keep quiet.

Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu nodded vigorously. “Sister-in-law, I promise not to speak!”

Chi Shuyan ignored the word “sister-in-law” out of habit now. She was about to start drawing talismans, when her eyes fell on Qi Hao’s bruised neck, and she suddenly raised her hand to touch it.

Qi Hao felt a bit numb and even more bashful from being touched. Never mind that he usually watched Wang Xuewen and Si Yinghua flirt around, he really had never touched or played with a woman before, so now that Chi Shuyan touched him, Qi Hao couldn’t help but blush shyly. But Qi Hao didn’t forget that the person in front of him was his cousin-in-law. Seeing his cousin’s face suddenly as cold as ice where he was sitting far away, Qi Hao’s heart trembled and he hurriedly whispered, “Sister… Sister-in-law, I… We… can’t do this!”

“Don’t talk!” Chi Shuyan’s attention was all on the yin energy seeping out of Qi Hao’s neck and she didn’t pay attention to his words, so she completely didn’t notice the bystanders looking at their intimate postures. Moreover, the two were close in age, the man handsome and the woman beautiful. Zhu Bocheng, who was watching over Wang Xuewen on the side, blurted out to Qi Zhenbai without thinking, “Tsk, tsk, this picture is so pleasing to the eye, they’re so compatible! Zhenbai, why do I feel like we’re old?”

As soon as Zhu Bocheng finished speaking, he felt a cold, dangerous, and extremely penetrating gaze sweep over him. Zhu Bocheng’s eyelids twitched in fright, and his heart trembled in fear. Only then did he realize that what he had just said had offended his friend, and he was afraid that his friend would skin him alive.

He was in a hurry to explain, but Zhenbai suddenly stood up with a cold face and strode toward Sister Shuyan. Zhu Bocheng’s nervous heart was immediately in his throat.

It just so happened that Chi Shuyan had wiped the yin energy from Qi Hao’s neck and was about to withdraw her hand, when Qi Zhenbai suddenly grabbed her wrist hard.

Chi Shuyan was caught off-guard and her wrist was almost broken. Her face changed and she looked up at the inexplicably gloomy man in front of her, puzzled. Before she could speak, the man gave Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu a warning look. The two boys obediently took the initiative to keep their distance from Chi Shuyan, as far away as possible, and gave the two of them some space.

However, the two boys’ eyes were filled with pity and regret. The man’s deep, powerful and magnetic voice rang out. “In the future, stay further away from other men! No matter how young they are!”

Chi Shuyan: …Wait, what did I do? What does it have to do with you?

Chi Shuyan was a bit baffled by the man in front of her. Seeing the pitiful eyes of the two boys not far away, she waved them over.

Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu didn’t dare think about going over again.

Before the two boys could speak, Lu Chengfu suddenly saw that the strangulation mark around Qi Hao’s neck had disappeared completely, and he was pleasantly surprised and excited. “Haozi, there are no more marks or wounds on your neck. That’s great!”

Qi Hao’s eyes widened as he touched his neck. It had felt a bit sore earlier, but there was no pain at all now. Afraid that Qi Hao wouldn’t believe him, Lu Chengfu even took out his phone to take a picture.

Seeing that there were no marks on his neck, Qi Hao suddenly remembered that his sister-in-law had touched his neck just now. He looked over hurriedly and was overjoyed. “Sister-in-law, are you the one who cured the wound on my neck? Wow! Sister-in-law, you’re awesome!”

Lu Chengfu also echoed him excitedly and said incredulously, “Sister-in-law, you’re so awesome. Will you be able to cure any other injuries in the future?”

The more Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao thought about it, the more excited they became. The two boys were like fanboys, full of admiration, and Qi Zhenbai found them eyesores.

But wait, what did the two boys just say?

Qi Zhenbai’s stern gaze swept over Qi Hao’s fair and smooth neck, and he paused. He was suddenly enlightened, and immediately let go. His usually calm eyes looked at the woman in front of him with rare helplessness and embarrassment.

Chi Shuyan shook her arm and ignored the man in front of her. Instead, she replied to the two brats, Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu, “It depends on the situation and type of injury. I can treat injuries inflicted by yin energy, but for injuries from normal weapons, you still need to go to the hospital!”

Zhu Bocheng took in his best friend’s helpless expression and gloated. Served this guy Zhenbai right!

Chapter 141: Burial Mound, Resolved

Chi Shuyan drew a few Peace Talismans while Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao sat to the side and watched. They didn’t dare draw close after Young Master Qi’s warning, but Sister-in-law decisively had them sit opposite her. Only after sounding out Young Master Qi’s expression did they approach her.

The two were still a bit uneasy when they sat down. After all, there was the pressure of a huge mountain in front of them. Even though the person in front of him was his cousin, it wasn’t like Qi Hao had never been afraid of him. In his memory, his cousin was especially aloof and difficult to get close to. When that cold gaze was on him, it was so scary it made him tremble.

Chi Shuyan couldn’t care less about the two in front of her. Drawing talismans always required her full attention, so how much the two of them could learn from watching her draw the talismans would depend on their own abilities.

The Peace Talisman was easy to draw. It took Chi Shuyan barely any effort to draw more than a dozen Peace Talismans in a row, before she started drawing Pure Yang Talismans.

Pure Yang Talismans were a bit difficult to draw. The human face boils on Wang Xuewen’s back were of extreme yin, so extreme Yang Talismans were required to force the yin energy and grievances out. Thinking of the extraordinary grievances on Wang Xuewen’s back, however, Chi Shuyan stopped drawing and suddenly raised her eyes to the tall, silent man with pursed lips in front of her who was shrouded in purple aura.

Qi Zhenbai, who had been ignored by this woman because of his misunderstanding, was still a bit uneasy. He was also unwilling to go over for fear of disturbing her when she drew the talismans, and so stood to the side silently.

Faced with the woman’s suddenly expectant gaze, Qi Zhenbai was flattered. When he reacted, Chi Shuyan suddenly asked, “Can you sit closer to me?”

Chi Shuyan pointed to her left.

By the time Qi Zhenbai reacted, he found that he was already sitting beside the woman and that the two of them were very close. Qi Zhenbai was very satisfied with this, and neither of them noticed the change in the atmosphere around them.

Chi Shuyan tried to borrow his purple aura to draw a Pure Yang Talisman, but found that even though they were very close, she couldn’t draw it at all if they weren’t touching. She subconsciously looked at the man’s slender and perfect fingers beside her and suddenly asked, “Can I borrow your hand?”

When the two clasped hands, there was the sound of breaths being drawn in one after another.

Chi Shuyan didn’t notice; instead, once she was holding the man’s hand, she didn’t waste any time and immediately began to draw. Under the cinnabar pen, the talisman that was drawn on the yellow paper carried a faint royal purple aura – the Pure Yang Talisman. Of the five talismans that she drew, three were successes, which was a pretty good outcome.

Qi Zhenbai, on the other hand, sensed the various changes in Zhu Bocheng’s expression. In the eyes of others, they were quite intimate, but he knew very well that this woman was merely borrowing him to draw talismans.

Qi Zhenbai’s eyes landed faintly on the woman’s soft thin lips beside him, his eyes dark and gloomy.

Although Chi Shuyan was drawing talismans, how could she not notice the man’s scorching gaze? She just pretended not to see it. After drawing the talismans, she immediately got up and walked toward Wang Xuewen, and had Zhu Bocheng lift up the back of his shirt.

When the two strange and evil smiling faces were revealed, Chi Shuyan immediately threw out a Pure Yang talisman at the two faces on Wang Xuewen’s back. The Pure Yang talisman promptly ignited upon contact with the faces, which immediately stiffened. They suddenly twisted and screamed vividly, as if trying to break through Wang Xuewen’s skin to escape.

Wang Xuewen’s forehead was drenched with sweat while unconscious, and his expression was vaguely remorseful and pained. Chi Shuyan immediately motioned to the frightened and pale-faced Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao. “Hold him down!”

Ignoring their fear, Lu Chengfu and Qi Hao hurriedly pressed Wang Xuewen down. At that moment, Chi Shuyan threw out two more Pure Yang talismans in succession. The temperature in the room instantly plummeted, and the screams of the human faces on Wang Xuewen’s back grew even louder. They screamed and cursed in frustration, “Die, all of you must die… Why should we die?!”

The mournful screams gave the crowd the creeps. Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu shuddered inwardly. A putrid odor permeated the air, and strange black smoke immediately seeped unceasingly out of Wang Xuewen’s back. Wang Xuewen’s body kept twitching. It didn’t take long for the two faces to turn into a mass of black water and disappear cleanly.

The series of changes stupefied Zhu Bocheng. He stared at Wang Xuewen’s smooth back and examined it repeatedly, then gaped at Chi Shuyan and said, “Sister Shuyan, is that it?”

“Done!”

The moment the woman in front of him turned her head, Qi Zhenbai suddenly pinched her chin, pressed his thin lips to hers for one breath, then released her after the kiss. He narrowed his eyes and asked, “Are you better?”

Chi Shuyan was dumbstruck.

Qi Zhenbai said calmly, “You looked a bit pale just now!”

Chi Shuyan, whose face was red from beginning to end: …

Zhu Bocheng was shocked. “Zhenbai, Sister Shuyan, are you really together? Congratulations! Congratulations!”

Chapter 142: Burial Mound, Trauma

In the blink of an eye, a few days had passed. Wang Xuewen and Jian Chongying recovered well during that time, especially Wang Xuewen. Except for a bit of psychological trauma, he was unharmed.

It was just that Jian Chongying’s arm was still wrapped in bandages. After confirming that he could fly, everyone left Yongning County.

Compared with their arrogance when they first came, these brats could now be said to be very obedient when they went back, especially Wang Xuewen, who seemed like a completely different person.

Although he had slept for a day or two, he hadn’t lost his memory. The thought of the two strange faces that had grown out of his back before still scared Wang Xuewen witless and made his legs turn to jelly.

Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu were also particularly well-behaved. Not only the burial mound incident in Yongning County, but the two strange, twisted human faces on Wang Xuewen’s back also left a deep impression on them. After Sister-in-law cured Wang Xuewen, the two of them had nightmares one after another of those strange and terrifying human faces growing on their backs. They were so scared that they cried in their sleep, and were caught in the act by Zhu Bocheng early in the morning.

Qi Hao and Lu Chengfu were so embarrassed that they couldn’t lift their heads. Seeing that Brother Zhu didn’t mock them to their faces, however, they heaved sighs of relief and played dumb. However, they told Jian Chongying about the human faces growing on Wang Xuewen’s back.

Jian Chongying admitted that he had tough nerves, but just listening to them scared him witless. Lu Chengfu didn’t forget that he had accidentally snapped a picture of Wang Xuewen’s back. He hadn’t dared look at it for fear of getting nightmares, even if he wanted to delete it; he even left his phone with Brother Zhu. However, he also wanted to ‘share’ it with his good friend, Jian Chongying.

So, before boarding the plane, he immediately took his phone back from Brother Zhu and scared Jian Chongying into clicking the picture open himself. When Jian Chongying took a look, even though he was mentally prepared, the image still scared him so much that his heart pounded and he broke the phone. He ran to a trash can and threw up with a pale face.

Lu Chengfu sighed. What Chongying had looked at was just a photo, while he and Haozi had seen it with their own eyes. Of course, this was nothing compared with the trauma in Wang Xuewen’s heart.

Qi Zhenbai, Chi Shuyan, and Zhu Bocheng saw the actions of these brats. Qi Zhenbai and Chi Shuyan didn’t say anything, but Zhu Bocheng couldn’t help but say to Lu Chengfu, “You rascal, why are you scaring Chongying? Now your phone’s broken!”

Lu Chengfu replied nonchalantly, “Brother Zhu, I haven’t wanted that phone for a long while now. Even if I deleted that photo, I would still be traumatized. It’s better for it to be broken!”

Lu Chengfu always felt that even if that photo was deleted, the two faces would always follow him if he kept his phone. He didn’t have the slightest desire to keep the phone anymore.

Qi Hao was also quite satisfied with Jian Chongying’s reaction. In the last few days after Chongying woke up, this rascal could at least still eat. Qi Hao and the others, however, couldn’t even eat a bowl of rice because of the human face boils, and they even lost a few pounds in the past few days. The boys were especially miserable.

Of course, apart from this trauma, these boys started to become abnormally obsessed with Chi Shuyan’s talismans. No matter what talisman Chi Shuyan drew, the boys didn’t care about the price at all and completely treated money like paper. They spent money like crazy to buy the talismans, and were even crazier than those fans of Chi Shuyan’s Taobao shop in the past.

The boys fought over the Peace Talismans she had drawn earlier until their faces turned red. Qi Hao also stuck to Chi Shuyan all day long and called her cousin-in-law or sister-in-law for the sake of more of those talismans. Chi Shuyan was helpless about this.

That was when Qi Hao suddenly thought of something and suddenly put his hand on Lu Chengfu. He still coveted that powerful talisman with the powerful ability to deter death.

Lu Chengfu knew his best friend very well. His friend’s eyes flashed, and he knew that this guy was coveting his talisman again. Without waiting for Qi Hao to speak, Lu Chengfu spat out warily, “That talisman is mine, I’m not selling it!”

Chapter 143: Burial Mound (End) Returning to the Capital

Chi Shuyan has been watching from the side for a long time and was well aware that Qi Hao coveted that talisman which Lu Chengfu had. This kid had asked her about it a lot these days.

She had explained that this talisman was called the Guiding Lightning Talisman and was a high-grade talisman that was extremely difficult to draw. So, she had only ever drawn one Guiding Lightning Talisman. She didn’t expect this kid, Lu Chengfu, to be so lucky. He only had one talisman, and it was the Guiding Lightning Talisman.

The Guiding Lightning Talisman was different from other Lightning Talismans that exorcised evil. It attracted lightning from the sky, so was a real threat to evil spirits. Heavenly lightning could exorcise all evil spirits, and they couldn’t hide. It was a completely different concept from an Exorcism Talisman, and miles ahead of what the Exorcism Talisman could do.

It was probably because of this that the kid had been able to leisurely eat chicken drumsticks back then.

Of course, she also told the boys that the Guiding Lightning Talisman was one reason why that evil spirit had avoided Lu Chengfu. Another reason was probably that it wanted to kill Qi Hao and a few others first before getting rid of Lu Chengfu, who would have been even harder to deal with. Moreover, this Guiding Lightning Talisman could only be used three times. Qi Hao had used his twice, so there was only one chance left.

Thus, this Guiding Lightning Talisman still had its shortcomings and might not be as invincible as they thought.

But no matter how she explained, she clearly underestimated how attached Qi Hao, Wang Xuewen, and even Jian Chongying, were to this talisman. Seeing that they couldn’t get the talisman from her, these brats focused even more on Lu Chengfu, and he heard no end of bids from them in the last few days.

But Lu Chengfu wasn’t half-bad; not only was he unmoved, he became even more vigilant in guarding that talisman.

Qi Hao was still obsessed with the talisman even after Lu Chengfu rejected him every time. This kid even used the pocket money he had been saving since childhood to tempt Lu Chengfu. While Chi Shuyan was moved, that kid, Lu Chengfu, didn’t waver in the slightest.

She could only admire the boys’ determination.

Qi Zhenbai was very dissatisfied when he saw how the brats drew his woman’s attention again and again, so when he turned sullen, Qi Hao and the other brats automatically ran far away to shout bids at Lu Chengfu.

Chi Shuyan looked at the time, and worried that these boys would miss the boarding time, she reminded them, “Don’t run too far, we’re boarding the plane soon!”

Qi Hao and the others answered very simply and obediently, “Sister-in-law, we understand!”

While Chi Shuyan was looking at the time, Zhu Bocheng secretly asked his friend in a low voice, “Zhenbai, have you really caught hold of Sister Shuyan now? But why do I feel like the atmosphere between the two of you has been especially strange lately?”

Shouldn’t the atmosphere between a man and a woman who had just fallen in love be especially lovey-dovey? Why did it seem like the two hadn’t changed much in the past few days?

Sister Shuyan wasn’t particularly clingy to Zhenbai, nor did she blush or her heart race when she saw him. Instead, she ignored him most of the time.

He didn’t understand, he really didn’t understand. Zhu Bocheng secretly wondered if he was behind in the times. He gritted his teeth and prepared to go back to the capital and have a good chat about the couple’s love life.

Before Zhu Bocheng could start to gossip, it was time to board the plane. Seeing that the boys didn’t forget the time and had come back to board obediently, Zhu Bocheng heaved a sigh of relief.

After boarding the plane, Zhu Bocheng still wanted to pry some gossip out of his best friend, but who would have thought that this rascal, Zhenbai, would demonstrate the words “gals before pals” to the fullest extent. He remained stuck to Sister Shuyan on the plane and completely ignored their calls.

Even Qi Hao and the others who wanted to talk to Chi Shuyan didn’t dare cut in halfway.

When they returned to the capital and parted ways, Qi Hao finally couldn’t help but say, “Sister-in-law, if you draw any talismans in the future, let me know immediately!”

“Me too!”

“Me too!”

When they finally parted ways, Chi Shuyan wiped the cold sweat from her forehead and heaved a sigh of relief. It was just that a certain man on the plane had been too enthusiastic. She just wanted to go home and have a good rest now.

Chi Shuyan was about to use the excuse of buying a ticket to leave, when slender fingers grabbed her hand and a voice was directed to the others: “All of you go back first. If there’s something you want to say, talk later!”

Qi Zhenbai then said to Chi Shuyan, “I’ll send you back!”

Chapter 144: Intense Boyfriend or Feudal Family Head?

The exit of Fuzhou’s Gaoqi Airport was packed like a beehive, as if it was a holiday. In the middle of the bustling crowd, however, a man and a woman, who looked like a couple and yet not, stood out prominently like cranes among chickens, attracting the attention of passersby.

The man was in his early twenties. Tall and straight, he had a majestic, cold face and an extraordinary bearing, and exuded an aloof and indifferent aura from head to toe.

But it was this cold, untouchable-looking man who was holding a petite, dainty little girl in his arms. The man’s iron arms were wrapped around her shoulders, and he looked like he was going to pull her into his arms with his protective stance. One could vaguely make out half of her fair, snow-like face and delicate features with red lips and white teeth.

If the two were a couple, then their dispositions and age didn’t match. The man was too sharp and mature, which made the girl in his arms look young and immature. She had the air of a student about her, which made the man look like her elder.

But to say that the two weren’t a couple, the man was handsome and tall while the woman was elegant and petite. It was really a match made in heaven, especially when the man protected the girl intimately in his arms. The girl didn’t even reach the man’s shoulders, and this was the rumored cutest height difference; it was like directly hugging someone’s chest, which made people blush and their imaginations run wild.

Keeping away from the packed crowd and leaving the airport, Chi Shuyan, who had been protected by Qi Zhenbai and hadn’t bumped into anyone, heaved a sigh of relief. She motioned for Qi Zhenbai to let go and said, “You can see me off here. I’ll take a taxi back myself. You better hurry and buy a plane ticket to go back. Going back and forth is tiring enough.”

“Since I’m already here, it’s better to take you home first.” Qi Zhenbai nodded and put down one arm while the other arm was still wrapped around Chi Shuyan’s shoulders, as if he had selectively forgotten about it, an enigmatic look on his cold face.

Chi Shuyan couldn’t change Qi Zhenbai’s mind. She knew how stubborn this man was and that he had to send her home. After walking for a while, she really couldn’t ignore the weight of the arm over her shoulders, especially with that large palm gripping her shoulder. This intimate posture made her extremely uncomfortable. She looked up at him and couldn’t help but remind him, “There aren’t many people here. Let go of me first.”

When Qi Zhenbai heard this, he raised his eyebrows and lowered his head, his expression and voice deep and filled with the charm of a mature man. He leaned close to Chi Shuyan’s ear and teased with a half-smile, “Why should I let go? If I lose you, where should I go to look for you?”

“It’s not like I’ll get lost. Besides, it’s too easy for people to get the wrong idea like this.”

“The wrong idea?” Qi Zhenbai’s frosty expression sank and his phoenix eyes turned cloudy. He corrected her seriously with a frown. “We’ve kissed and hugged, and you don’t want to take responsibility?”

Chi Shuyan didn’t know whether to be angry or laugh, but immediately shook her head.

“Then there’s no misunderstanding!” Qi Zhenbai’s imposing appearance made one shiver inexplicably, and he concluded with a strong tone that left no room for dispute.

Chi Shuyan: “…” She couldn’t figure out how she had come back from this trip with a boyfriend. Furthermore, this man was so thick-skinned. Also, were they really together, just like that? She felt it was very strange. Chi Shuyan sighed softly. It would be a little unreasonable if she continued to refuse. It wasn’t that she had no feelings for this man, but everything was happening too fast for her to get used to.

Qi Zhenbai sent Chi Shuyan to the door, then bent down and gave her a light peck on the forehead. “Your grades are good enough for any good school in the capital. I’ll wait for you in the capital!” He turned around and left.

Chi Shuyan was stunned. He was that sure that she would go to the capital? Looking at the tall back that was about to leave, she ignored the inexplicable longing and reluctance in her heart, and suddenly smiled as she said tauntingly, “How can you be sure that I’ll apply to a school in the capital?”

When Qi Zhenbai heard this, he stopped in his tracks and turned his head. His well-defined, handsome face was expressionless, and his phoenix eyes were gloomy with authority and warning as he gave Chi Shuyan a sidelong glance. That majestic look said: If you dare, feel free to try. That one glance gave Chi Shuyan the shivers. Why did she feel like she had another parent, and it was a feudal family head who meant what he said!

Chapter 145: Gao Lingxue’s Threat

Chi Shuyan looked at Qi Zhenbai’s expression which forcefully said, “No matter what school you apply for, it has to be in the capital,” and was so angry that her teeth itched. This man was too conceited!

Provoked, she really wanted to challenge Qi Zhenbai’s strict bottom line and apply to other universities. However, whether Chi Shuyan could accept this or not deep down, the problem was that she truly believed that Qi Zhenbai didn’t make empty threats. She was afraid that if she really applied elsewhere, he would definitely go through with his threat. Fine, she better not play around mindlessly!

Chi Shuyan watched as Qi Zhenbai left in the car, then turned around to enter the house.

“Chi Shuyan!” There was a sharp cry, and Chi Shuyan looked over with a frown to see Gao Lingxue outside the metal gate.

“Chi Shuyan, I have something to tell you. Come out first!” Gao Lingxue commanded arrogantly as she raised what looked like an envelope in her hand, which seemed a little thick.

Chi Shuyan gave Gao Lingxue a baffled look. Was this person mental? Ever since Gao Lingxue’s complaints last time, Chi Shuyan felt that talking to her was too much of a hassle. So naturally, she ignored her and turned around to leave, uninterested.

Seeing that Chi Shuyan was about to leave, Gao Lingxue didn’t even have time to be angry. She was immediately anxious. “Hey, hey, don’t you want to know what’s in my hand?”

Chi Shuyan stopped in her tracks. Seeing Chi Shuyan pause, Gao Lingxue was relieved and thought that she was going to ask. She sneered inwardly and was about to take advantage of the situation, but Chi Shuyan gave her a cold glance and continued walking. Seeing that she was about to disappear, Gao Lingxue couldn’t care less anymore and shouted without thinking, “I saw everything. I have proof that you’re involved with those shady men!”

Chi Shuyan couldn’t help but roll her eyes when she heard this. She was guessing that Gao Lingxue had found someone to photoshop her image into that stack of photos. This widespread, rotten method was even more ridiculous than ambiguously intimate photos. It seemed that she really had thought too highly of Gao Lingxue.

Chi Shuyan couldn’t be bothered to listen to Gao Lingxue’s nonsense. She picked up her pace, completely ignoring Gao Lingxue’s random barking behind her.

Gao Lingxue looked at Chi Shuyan’s disappearing back and her features twisted in anger. She crumpled the photos in her hand, utterly depressed. She originally wanted to use the photos to demand some benefits from Chi Shuyan to help out her family, but who would have thought that Chi Shuyan wouldn’t be home at all during this time.

Helpless, Gao Lingxue could only take these pictures to Young Master Yang Hongsheng, wanting to show Young Master Yang how fickle her cousin was. However, as soon as Young Master Yang tricked her out of the photos, he closed the door in her face.

Fortunately, she still had the originals. It was just that she waited so long for Chi Shuyan, but never expected her cousin to not care at all! Gao Lingxue was so angry that her lungs were about to explode.

Chi Shuyan didn’t know what Gao Lingxue was thinking. The next day, she went out to visit Zheng Shujun, when someone scurried out from the main gate, scaring her.

Chi Shuyan frowned and looked coldly at Gao Lingxue. She turned around to leave, but was blocked again. Looking at Gao Lingxue in front of her, she wondered why this person kept pestering her. Although she wasn’t afraid of Gao Lingxue, she couldn’t stand being harassed like a housefly.

“Chi Shuyan, do you know what pictures I have in my hand?” Gao Lingxue could see the impatience on Chi Shuyan’s face, and was afraid that she would leave immediately like yesterday.

She tugged her sleeve and hurriedly said, “It’s all pictures of you and those indecent men. You’re so resourceful. Hooking up with Young Master Yang isn’t enough, you have another one. If Fourth Uncle finds out, you’ll suffer!”

Chapter 146: Gao Lingxue Repents

The corners of Chi Shuyan’s mouth pulled up and she said calmly, “If you’re done, let go.”

Gao Lingxue’s eyes widened in disbelief. What sort of reaction was this? As if afraid that Chi Shuyan had forgotten, she pulled out the photos from the envelope and showed them to her.

However, Chi Shuyan had long anticipated what kind of photos they were, and her expression didn’t waver in the slightest. “Send them if you want.” In any case, it would at most be labeled puppy love, although she didn’t really want her father to know.

Gao Lingxue was stunned for a moment, then suddenly ripped the photos apart fiercely and slapped herself twice. “Shuyan, I, I, it’s your cousin’s fault. I shouldn’t have threatened you. I’m not human at all!”

Gao Lingxue covered her face and wiped her tears with a guilty look. She burst into tears and pleaded in a sobbing tone that was unlike her previous high and mighty self, “I have no choice either. Cousin, I know my mistake. I shouldn’t have bullied you and taken it out on you like that. I also regretted it when I complained last time, but I just wanted to save face, and suffered for it. You don’t know how guilty I felt. I don’t want to give these photos to Fourth Uncle at all. I just want to get your attention, to apologize to you and reconcile with you. In the end, because of my stupid mouth, I didn’t know what to say. Instead, I messed up the whole thing.”

Chi Shuyan was stumped for a moment, but before she could react, Gao Lingxue hugged her and continued to sob, “You don’t know how much I envy you. Although your parents are divorced, Fourth Uncle dotes on you alone. But for me, my parents only care about my brothers. Why are our fates so different? I’ve always been jealous of you, but now I finally understand.” She let out a long sigh as if she was relieved.

Chi Shuyan’s body was somewhat stiff, and a large area of her back felt wet. She wanted to push Gao Lingxue away, but was hugged tightly instead.

Gao Lingxue only let go after she wept for a long time. She wiped her tears with her sleeve, put her hands behind her back, bit her lip, and bowed apologetically. “Cousin, I’m sorry, really sorry. In the future… I’ll never bother you again, and I’ll also persuade my parents not to bother your family again.” Covering her tear-stained face, she turned around and ran away in extreme shame.

Chi Shuyan was stupefied and looked at Gao Lingxue’s back with mixed feelings. Was this person crazy? She was crying and laughing at the same time. She had already failed the college entrance exam, yet she was still so slick. She had really been scared when Gao Lingxue suddenly pounced on her and hugged her. If Gao Lingxue had been a man, Chi Shuyan would have thought she was taking advantage of her.

Chi Shuyan looked at her back and narrowed her eyes. If Gao Lingxue could repent early and not take the same route from her past life, Chi Shuyan could still give her a chance and spare her in this life. However, her eyes turned cold. She hoped that was the case. It all depended on what path Gao Lingxue chose.

Gao Lingxue turned her head and ran. It wasn’t easy for her to run far away. She covered her face and her shoulders shook repeatedly. A passerby thought that the girl was crying and just wanted to comfort her. Who would have thought that as soon as he walked over, he would be frightened by the girl’s poisonous eyes and crazy, twisted smile.

“What are you looking at? Scram!” Gao Lingxue glared at the man; the tears from earlier were nowhere to be seen. She couldn’t help but grin broadly as she looked at the three strands of hair which she had plucked off Chi Shuyan’s clothes. Chi Shuyan couldn’t help but be oblivious. Gao Lingxue thought she was really too smart. Her expression was poisonous, vicious and greedy. She composed herself before she apprehensively made a phone call. Hearing that the other party had already transferred 300,000 yuan to her card, Gao Lingxue was overjoyed and laughed wildly in delight.

Chapter 147: Switching Faces

Gao Lingxue wasn’t happy or excited for too long. Looking at the mere three strands of hair in her hand which cost 100,000 yuan each, a trace of regret flashed across her face. If she had known that Chi Shuyan’s hair was so useful, she would have plucked a few more.

The more Gao Lingxue thought about it, the more regret she felt. She recalled how she failed to threaten Chi Shuyan yesterday and had been about to go back dejectedly; she hadn’t expected that someone would ask her to get Chi Shuyan’s hair at 100,000 a strand.

She had hesitated a little, afraid that it was a scam, but then quickly agreed. After all, her family was already so poor that they were about to go hungry. They had also fallen out with her Fourth Uncle’s family, and couldn’t demand any benefits from them.

As for what this person wanted with Chi Shuyan’s hair, she didn’t care at all. She was so jealous of her cousin that her eyes turned red. Why were their lives so different? In addition, her cousin was the cause of her family’s recent downfall, so she took it for granted that Chi Shuyan owed her everything. Anyway, it was just a few strands of hair.

“Master, since we now have her birth characters and hair, we should be able to do the ritual, right?” Feng Yanli looked respectfully at the black-robed Warlock beside her.

The black-robed Warlock was completely covered except for his turbid, sharp eyes, and he nodded. “Of course, but we still need to wait a little longer. After all, the pictures weren’t clear, and I still need to see her in person to confirm the pattern of her fate.”

When Feng Yanli heard the black-robed Warlock’s words, she felt a trace of excitement and her emotions ran a little wild. “Then, if Master confirms that her fate is good, do you have a way to switch our faces?”

“Switch faces? Haha, you just have to borrow her luck; there’s no need to switch faces.” The black-robed Warlock glanced at Feng Yanli, whose skin had turned fair and smooth. Although Feng Yanli’s current appearance could only be considered delicate and pretty, not beautiful, it was still a world of difference from her former ugly and ordinary appearance.

“I can’t wait anymore! I want to switch faces immediately! Right away!” Feng Yanli was so excited that her voice was a bit shrill.

Hearing Feng Yanli’s hysterical voice, the black-robed Warlock didn’t say a word, but his cloudy eyes were somewhat displeased.

Father Feng frowned. Noticing the black-robed Warlock’s displeasure, he hurriedly reprimanded Feng Yanli. “Yanli, how can you speak to Master like that?!” He turned his head and apologized to the black-robed Warlock in trepidation. “Master, I hope you don’t mind my daughter’s lack of manners. I’ve almost prepared everything that you need.”

Only then did the black-robed Warlock nod and wave his long sleeves. “You guys go out!”

Feng Yanli still wanted to ask him some things, but Father Feng pulled at her sleeve and dragged her out. When they were outside, Father Feng pulled a long face. “What’s wrong with you? I told you before to be prudent – where did that all go? We still have to rely on this Master in the future. If we offend him, where can we find another one?”

“Dad, I don’t want this either. That person only knows how to borrow your money and influence to cultivate, and we’ve waited so long in vain.” Feng Yanli glanced inside before she complained quietly and indignantly in Father Feng’s ear. “It was the same with borrowing luck back then. That person randomly picked a person for us to borrow luck from. But look: although your business is doing better now, it’s not yet to the point of being considered a tycoon since you still haven’t squeezed into Fuzhou’s upper crust. My face is much better, but it still can’t be considered beautiful.”

Chapter 148: Snatching Talismans

Feng Yanli’s words struck a chord with Father Feng. He hesitated a little. “But what if we say too much and accidentally offend that Master?”

“That Master is indeed capable, but haven’t we also done a lot for him?” Feng Yanli rolled her eyes and said, “He looks like he’s in a hurry to cultivate. When the time comes, Dad, you…” Feng Yanli whispered in her father’s ear.

“Is that good?” Father Feng was a little hesitant. “If the fate of that classmate of yours is worse than the previous one, then wouldn’t all your efforts be wasted?”

“Dad, those who are cowardly starve to death and those who are bold stuff themselves!” Feng Yanli made a forceful case. “If we don’t make more plans for ourselves, and that Master doesn’t need us anymore, it’ll be hard to make requests of him then. Plus, you’re still a struggling tycoon. Don’t you want to quickly squeeze into upper crust society? You won’t have to curry favor with others; by then, others will be fawning on you!”

Hearing this, Father Feng thought of how that glory would be his one day. He then gritted his teeth and made up his mind. “Okay!”

In a villa.

“F*ck, it was all snatched up just like that?” Qi Hao kept tapping the keyboard and mouse in disbelief. “There were clearly still many talismans when I went on; how did they disappear all at once?”

“Haozi, can you do it or not? You’re so useless!” Wang Xuewen, who was sitting quietly on the side, anxiously pulled Qi Hao aside and refreshed the webpage countless times. When he saw that the hundreds of talismans were sold out, he couldn’t help but curse. “F*ck, I didn’t even have the time to show off my prowess. This bunch of robbers are too fast! I finally understand; compared with that fake, this is the real deal!”

Wang Xuewen sighed with incomparable vicissitudes. Why did they think that the talismans of that fake Master before were popular? Compared with that fake Master, Sister-in-law’s talismans were simply harder to snatch up than ascending to the heavens.

“I don’t need you to tell me how to grab them, you stinky idiot! You burned my talismans back then!” Qi Hao kicked the chair Wang Xuewen was sitting on and couldn’t help but punch him a few more times. He hammered Wang Xuewen so hard that the latter almost spewed out his dinner from the night before. Qi Hao even grabbed the feather duster beside him.

“Hey, hey, why are you always harping on about that?” Wang Xuewen rubbed his hair, which was like a chicken’s nest, and dodged away with a wronged look, looking somewhat embarrassed. “I already know I was wrong; can’t you give me a chance to make things right?”

Wang Xuewen was filled with remorse at the thought of his actions in the past, especially as he became more and more aware of the value of the talismans. The more he envied Lu Chengfu’s luck, the more he wondered why he had courted death in the first place. It was because every time it was brought up, Haozi couldn’t help but give him a painful beating. But whenever he thought about how he had burned those talismans and courted death, he couldn’t help but give himself a few sharp slaps.

“Okay, okay, stop it! It wasn’t easy for me to slip out, don’t hit me in the face. If my parents find out that I snuck out, I won’t be able to bear the consequences!” Wang Xuewen had been pretty stifled these last few days. His parents had taken his electronic devices and grounded him at home. It wasn’t easy for him to crawl out over the wall. Who would have thought that Qi Hao would beat him up at the drop of a hat? His life was just too good!

Qi Hao narrowed his eyes. “Yeah, aren’t you still grounded?”

Wang Xuewen nodded quickly, thinking that Qi Hao’s conscience had been pricked. He complained, “Yeah, it’s different for me. I don’t even have my phone right now. My parents are guarding against me like they’re guarding against a thief.” Wang Xuewen rambled on and on as he complained, but before he could finish, he saw Qi Hao bare his canine teeth and make a phone call. He instantly had a bad feeling, and his face changed dramatically. He pounced on him and snatched away his phone as he howled plaintively, “Brother, you’re pushing me into a fire pit.”

“You deserve it!” Qi Hao ended the call, and seeing that Wang Xuewen was scared to death, he felt a little mollified. His eyes suddenly lit up. “Right, I remember that kid Yunxuan is the best at hacking and grabbing tickets. Let’s go and find him!”

He didn’t care about Wang Xuewen, who had been scared into turning pale, and walked straight out!

Chapter 149: Holy Mother, What Kind of Luck Is This?

Wang Xuewen looked at the energetic Qi Hao, wiped his sweat and rejoiced. Fortunately, Haozi wasn’t serious and immediately realized that they were bosom friends. This back and forth, however, was scary enough. He frowned with some bitterness in his mouth. What a sin he had committed!

Wang Xuewen might grumble about Qi Hao in his heart, but he wasn’t slow to catch up to Qi Hao at all. After all, the Qi family’s roots were deep and the trees were big and shady. Even if his parents found out that he had snuck out when the time came, as long as Qi Hao didn’t turn around and complain, his parents would still give the Qi family some face.

Also… Wang Xuewen glanced at Qi Hao in front of him as if he was seeing a golden goose, and his eyes lit up. A powerful metaphysical figure like Master Chi had an extraordinary relationship with Ninth Master Qi. If he could cozy up to this golden thigh, win Master Chi’s favor, and obtain a tiny bit of guidance from her… he couldn’t help but laugh stupidly.

Qi Hao only felt like something was stabbing into his back, and when he turned around, he saw Wang Xuewen, that idiot, staring blankly at him. Standing in place, his stupid smile scared Qi Hao witless.

“Why are you grinning like an idiot?”

Wang Xuewen snapped back to his senses at Qi Hao’s shout and blurted out in embarrassment, “I’m just thinking about how Sister-in-law agreed to give us some pointers. I don’t know when she’ll come.”

Qi Hao heaved a sigh of relief. Ever since the trip to Yongning County, he had become a little sensitive, and thought that Wang Xuewen was possessed again. Looking at the obsequious and fawning Wang Xuewen, he bared his teeth and sneered ruthlessly, “She’s my sister-in-law, it’s none of your business!”

“No, don’t be like that!” Wang Xuewen wanted to cry without tears.

Qi Hao ignored him, turned around, opened the door, and entered Qi Yunxuan’s room.

“Can’t any of you respect my privacy? You barge in without even knocking!” In the room, Qi Yunxuan puffed up his cheeks and glared unhappily at the two people who came in. Qi Hao was strutting in the front, while Wang Xuewen followed behind him like a bullied little wife.

“Then go tell Brother Zhenbai on us.” Qi Hao’s sharp eyes saw Qi Yunxuan secretly hiding a box. He narrowed his eyes, took a big stride forward, and grabbed it. “What kind of shady stuff are you hiding?”

Qi Yunxuan glared at Qi Hao angrily and tried to grab it, but was still a beat too slow.

Wang Xuewen quivered with energy and immediately perked up, just like a dog that had smelled a bone. He moved to Qi Hao’s side, and when Qi Hao uncovered the box and saw stacks and stacks of yellow talismans, he snorted in disappointment; he had thought that Qi Yunxuan the rascal had been enlightened.

“Ah Xuan, tsk, tsk, you bought talismans from that charlatan swindler? Why are there so many?” As soon as Wang Xuewen thought of how they had tragically mistaken a charlatan for a Master and fake talismans for treasure, his eyes were like those of a young man who had once gone astray. He immediately said earnestly, “You better not let anyone fool you, kid. This line of business is a mix of good and bad. There are many charlatans and swindlers. People as shrewd and cautious as your brother and Brother Xuewen almost suffered a loss because of swindlers. You better stop fooling around with such feudal superstitions.”

Qi Yunxuan pursed his lips and was too lazy to speak. Anyway, everyone in the family thought he was doing nothing proper, so he snorted in disdain and took the opportunity to snatch the box back, protecting his treasure with all his heart.

Qi Hao looked at how obsessed Qi Yunxuan was and patted his head. “Hey, although your Brother Xuewen isn’t very bright, he’s right. Where the hell did you buy those talismans from? It’s not that I want to lecture you, but Brother Zhenbai would scold you too if he were in our shoes. You should stop while you’re ahead.” He changed the subject; when he recalled that swindler from last time, he gritted his teeth. He rolled up his sleeves and said fiercely, “If you don’t stop, I’ll smash his shop.”

However, when Qi Hao’s eyes swept over the webpage, his eyes instantly widened in disbelief. Holy mother, what kind of luck was this?

Chapter 150: Bad Omen

Qi Yunxuan panicked when he saw his brother glancing over. He moved to block the screen, thinking that his brother really was going to find trouble with the shop’s Master.

Qi Hao immediately brushed Qi Yunxuan aside. His eyes widened and his head leaned forward to take a closer look at it over and over again. His mouth was half-open as he pointed at the page and stuttered, “You… You bought it from here?”

“Were we all tricked by the same person?” Wang Xuewen saw Qi Hao’s petrified expression and also went over, but when he saw the page clearly, he was dumbfounded and bewildered for a moment. “Isn’t this Sister-in-law’s shop? It isn’t a scammer’s shop.”

Struck by realization, Qi Hao and Wang Xuewen suddenly snapped back to their senses. They both looked menacingly at the box of “treasure talismans” in Qi Yunxuan’s hands.

Qi Yunxuan looked at the two, and knew how vile their characters could be. He thought they hadn’t given up and wanted to destroy the talismans. Frightened, he tightened his grip on the box in his arms and almost cried with anxiety. “Brother, Brother Xuewen, these are real talismans. Ask Yunchang if you don’t believe me.”

Qi Hao and Wang Xuewen looked at each other with mixed feelings. They touched their noses, looking somewhat embarrassed and also a bit guilty. They recalled how they had solemnly swore and pointed at this box of genuine talismans which they said was fake, and they looked at Qi Yunxuan’s box of talismans with some envy. This kid had heaven-defying luck!

They had tried so hard and hadn’t gotten anything, but this kid had a pile.

Chi Shuyan examined Zheng Shujun with some surprise. Her face was flushed and her complexion had gradually improved. Chi Shuyan stared at Zheng Shujun until the girl’s hair stood on end, and only then did she confirm that the wisps of black mist on Zheng Shujun’s back had almost dissipated, as if the luck-borrowing spell had broken.

Could it be that Zheng Shujun met some expert Master? Or had the Warlock died? Or did Feng Yanli finally grow a conscience?

When Chi Shuyan asked, she found out that Zheng Shujun hadn’t even dared go out recently, so she naturally couldn’t have encountered any opportunities or Masters.

Chi Shuyan frowned slightly. This was supposed to be a good thing and she wanted to be relieved for Zheng Shujun, but at the same time, her left eyelid inexplicably twitched, making her heart jump and her chest tight.

“Shuyan, what’s wrong?” Ever since Zheng Shujun found out about Chi Shuyan’s abilities last time, she firmly believed in her. Seeing her pale face, she thought something was wrong.

Chi Shuyan suppressed her twitchiness and smiled placatingly at the puzzled Zheng Shujun. “It’s fine.” But before she left, she still did a divination for Zheng Shujun.

On the road, Chi Shuyan stared into space and pressed her twitching left and right eyelids. Why was it an empty divination? And this time, even direct contact didn’t work. While her thoughts were in a knot, she didn’t even notice a car pulling up beside her. Why was it an empty divination again?

“Shuyan, Shuyan, what are you doing, standing by the side of the road?” The window rolled down to reveal a delicate, fair face. Feng Yanli smiled brightly at Chi Shuyan and waved at her as if nothing was wrong between the two of them.

Chi Shuyan promptly restrained her emotions and glanced coldly at Feng Yanli before ignoring her and walking ahead.

“Hey, hey, don’t go! Shuyan!” Feng Yanli hurriedly got out of the car and ran toward Chi Shuyan. She grabbed her arm and lowered her head with an expression that evoked sympathy. Sobbing a little, she said, “Shuyan, don’t ignore me. I truly know I was wrong. Only after I lost you as a friend did I realize what regret is. Although I have many friends, they’re all scoundrels, unlike you who cared for me wholeheartedly. I – I was terribly mistaken.”

Chi Shuyan raised her eyebrows and sneered. They came to apologize one after another; this was really too much of a coincidence. Recalling how Gao Lingxue had touched her, and looking at the pretentious Feng Yanli in front of her, Chi Shuyan was lost in thought. When it came to certain people who courted death, she felt that she should do her best to fulfill their wishes, for fear that they wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.

Naturally, she couldn’t feel relieved about the two perpetrators who harmed her so deeply in her past life. One eyebrow arched sarcastically. She had originally been concerned about karma, but now, she had nothing to worry about. After all, she wasn’t so magnanimous as to forgive a despicable person easily.

Feng Yanli rambled on and on about their past relationship, looking utterly remorseful and guilty. She apologized sincerely and wept profusely. Seeing that Chi Shuyan remained unmoved, her heart burned with hatred, but it didn’t show on her face at all. She wiped her tears and pretended to be strong as she gritted her teeth. “Shuyan, I won’t force you to reconcile with me. But before I go abroad, I want to give you a gift so that we won’t have known each other in vain. In the future…” Her lips trembled. “In the future, maybe… we’ll never meet again! I won’t come back!”

“Okay!” All things had to come to an end.

Feng Yanli wept tears of joy and looked as if she was so happy she didn’t know what to do.
