Tae was was so excited. And the festival aura in the central is making him more excited.
Its been so many years since he’s been in an arcade, and he’ll love to see it again. Even if its a different era.
“Mr. Kim,” Jungkook called. “We can’t go out like this.”
Tae paused, looking at him in confusion. They’re in the middle of the way, it was loud and full of music — its a holiday eh?
“Huh?” He asked. Jungkook pointed at his clothes.
“It’s okay for you to roam around with that uniform since ur still a trainee,”
“But not for me, I’m wearing a Captain uniform. I have a position and I think that’ll sound disrespectful.”
He said, and Tae thought for a while. “Its okay! I’ll buy you some clothes. You can change in the rest rooms.”
Suddenly, a fuss caught their attention.
They immediately went in between the walls of the houses since it is where the fuss came from.
“Excuse me,” Jungkook said while diving in the crowd.
Once they got in, they saw a pregnant woman who is already in labor.
“Where’s the midwife?” A random person asked.
“She’s on her way, but I think it’ll take time for her to come here.”
The woman was crying in pain, and the women beside her were just trying to distract her on the pain.
Jungkook was hesitating, but he eventually spoke. “I’ll replace the midwife for now.”
People around them we’re shocked. They were whispering and kept making sounds.
For Tae, it was just normal for him to see soldiers voluntarily becoming midwives. But he forgot that he’s in 1894.
“Captain, are you sure about this?” He asked.
“Don’t worry, I studied primary health care, I know what I’m doing. Besides, the baby’s coming out soon.”
The woman cried in pain. Jungkook quickly positioned himself. “Breathe in, breathe out. Now push!”
The woman did as what she’s told, her face is already red in pain.
“Just a little more, you can do it!” Jungkook’s already holding the baby but it’s still not fully out.
It was a series of cries and shouts until they finally heard a baby’s cry.
The people around clapped and cheered, it was new for them to see a guy doing a midwife’s job.
And Tae on the other hand, felt like crying. Not just because of what Jungkook did but because of the new life that was introduced to the world.
The woman looks so tired and in pain but right after Jungkook handed him the baby in a blanket, she still got to smile.
And that’s where his heart ached.
He would never understand a mother’s love since he doesn’t remember being a newborn.
But seeing how the woman was crying in joy while caressing her baby was more than enough for him to understand.
A mother’s love indeed.
The midwife came and the only job she did was take care of the woman and the baby.
The woman and every people around that time thanked Jungkook. And Captain could never be happier knowing that he saved and helped a life.
“You’re amazing.” Tae cried.
“So, I really need to change. I have blood all over my cloth.” Jungkook said and Tae immediately went out to buy some clothes.
He handed it to him and waited for him to come out from changing.
And Tae doesn’t know what to feel when he finally saw Jungkook.
In a simple hanbok, like those other normal people wears.
He looks so normal. So damn normal to the point that he looks unreal. How can someone look like this? And he’s not even trying?
“Sha’ll we go?” Jungkook asked and Tae was out of his thoughts.
“Yes! Sure.”

“Let’s ride that! Oh my god!” Tae cried like a 4 year old.
They’re currently in the arcades and it’s quite big. There are so many people and Tae has never felt such holiday spirit.
“A carousel? But those are just for kids...”
Tae raised a brow at him.
“Excuse me? Do you see any age requirements? Arcades aren’t just for kids!”
“But also for people who think like kids?”
Tae smacked him in the arm and that made Jungkook laugh. For the first time in fucking ever.
He did not just smirk — he fucking laughed.
Tae was astonished at what he just saw. His jaw literally dropped, and the sound kept ringing through his ears.
“C-Can you do that again?” He asked, & Jungkook immediately fixed his expression.
“I thought we’re gonna ride the carousel?” Tae’s face immediately lit up.
Pulled by arm, there are still some empty slots on the carousel since its quite big so they won’t have the need to fall in line.
Maybe, just fall in love?
“Here?” Jungkook asked when Tae pointed a horse. He’s new to this coz he never went to the arcades when he’s little.
Tae wanted to ride too, but his naughty side was ruling over him.
Once Jungkook has rode a horse, he quickly hopped off the carousel and it started to spin.
“Yah!” Jungkook cried when he realized what’s happening.
Tae was laughing hard while watching Jungkook ride with the kids on the carousel.
He looked like an innocent kid who looks so lost. Tae quickly took out his phone and took a picture of Jungkook who’s looking so betrayed.
He looked at the photo and laughed again.
The ride had finished, but Tae hasn’t stopped laughing yet.
Jungkook walked towards him with a deadly glare, the once doe eyes we’re now looking like a tiger’s.
“How dare you?” He cried, and Tae was in tears.
“I’m sorry, you looked funny.” Jungkook rolled his eyes.
“I don’t find it funny.” He crossed his arms across his chest.
“Just look at you,” Tae showed him his photo on his phone. “You look like ur about to throw tantrums!”
And Tae started laughing again. People around them are now looking at him, maybe thinking he’s possessed.
But Jungkook on the other hand, looked nothing but confused.
He can’t believe he’s seeing himself on a not so big frame. He grabbed the phone and he confirmed that it’s not a paper.
“What is this object?” He asked, flipping it on sides to inspect it.
Tae realized what’s happening. He forgot that cellphones aren’t still present here.
He must be culture-shocked.
“It’s called a cellphone.” Tae explained while Jungkook was busy inspecting it.
“Ce-ll...ce...cell...phone...cellp-phone?”
Tae nodded. “You use it to send messages to your loved ones, and also take photos.”
Jungkook looked at him in confusion. “Photos?” He asked.
“Isn’t this a daguerreotype?”
And this time, it was Tae’s brows who furrowed. “A what?”
“A daguerreotype. It’s also used to take photos. But its not like this, this is too small and...way too advance.”
Tae’s mouth flung open, he learned something new today. “Where did you get this?”
Tae doesn’t know how to answer that. How is he gonna explain?
Tae immediately grabbed his phone and put it back in his pocket.
“What’s our next ride?” He changed the topic. He’s not good at words and Jungkook might misinterpret him if he ever try to make excuses.
And atleast, he didn’t ask anymore.
They dragged each other on places. Left, right, north, south — Jungkook is starting to be a bit loose and bubbly.
They rode all the rides they wanted to, and because of that tiredness, they got hungry.
“I’m hungry, let’s eat first!” Tae said and Jungkook agreed.
They ate at a random eatery. The food looks nice and there are lots of people so they’re supposing that the food tastes good.
They ordered their foods and Tae was gonna pay but Jungkook insisted.
“You paid for my clothes awhile ago, let me pay this time.”
While eating, Tae suddenly got curious. “Captain,” he called.
“Hm?” Jungkook hummed, chewing the food in his mouth.
“Were you jealous?” Jungkook suddenly paused, he shot his head up to look at Tae.
He raised his brows, trying to ask what he just said.
“Awhile ago. Were you jealous because Bogum asked me to go out with them?”
Jungkook drank water to push down the food. “Why would I be jealous?”
Its just a simple question, but Tae doesn’t know how to answer. “U-uhm...”
“He’s just your friend, right?”
Tae’s mouth flung open. With that question, he decided to do something.
Tae bit his lip and smiled. “Well yes! He’s my friend but...” Hearing the ‘but’ in the end made Jungkook raise his brows.
“He’s really handsome. He looks approachable and cute! His eyes shine when he smile and have you seen his gummy smile? It’s really charming!”
Tae stopped talking when he noticed Jungkook harshly chopping the meat off.
He giggled, “Are you okay? What has the meat done to you?”
“Nothing, it’s just really hard to chop off.”
But the funny thing is, the meat isn’t hard at all.
Tae just laughed to himself and continued to eat his meal.
Once they’re done, they just took a little rest and started wandering & riding rides again.
But this time, it’s Jungkook’s turn to choose rides.
“I wan’t to try that one.” Jungkook pointed up — right on the ferris wheel.
Tae gulped at the sight. “O-Oh, that.” He’s cursing himself for stuttering.
“Okay, let’s go!” He said and they immediately went towards it to fall in line.
While on the line, Tae was quiet & Jungkook could sense that there’s something odd.
“Are you okay?” He asked, and Tae scratched his head. “W-Well, I’m kinda nervous since it’s high. You know...I’m afraid of heights.”
“Okay then, let’s just ride another—“
“No! It’s okay. I wanted to try this too. It’s just that I’m nervous.”
He was surprised when Jungkook held his cold and sweaty hands.
“Look at me, just me.”
At those words, Tae doesn’t know what to feel anymore. His feelings we’re a mess & Jungkook was making it harder.
They’re finally cupped in the seats of the ferris wheel.
But it was a lot different since the modern ferris wheel was closed and caged, this one is all open — and it’s just the seats & safety rails.
The ferris wheel started to spin and Tae flinched at the sudden movement.
“Oh god, that’s so high.” Tae was shaking but not that bad.
“Didn’t I told you look just at me?” Jungkook said and Tae’s heart was wilding again.
“Nothing bad will happen, and I won’t let it happen. Just take a close your eyes, take a deep breathe and you’ll see.”
Tae bit his lip. He’ll lose nothing if he’ll try right?
He closed his eyes, took a deep breathe and tried to relax. The ferris wheel was moving not so fast but also not so slow, and it’s helping Tae relax.
He slowly opened his eyes and was never been amazed of what he saw.
Right before his eyes, was the breathtaking view of their province.
There are no tall buildings, no wide constructed roads, no cars and horns, no smoke and pollution — just the people peacefully having fun, natural lights and nature was clearly seen.
Tae felt so sad.
If only the future saw this, if only the future realized how beautiful this is, if only the future took care of nature...
Then he wouldn’t have been regretting not participating in nature related activities.
He wouldn’t have been this sad & feeling sorry for the nature.
And now, he’s promising himself that once he comes back in the future, he’ll make sure to do everything to preserve nature.
He promised.
Tae looked to his side, and just as how sad he is awhile ago, was the same amount of happiness he felt while looking at Jungkook.
He was smiling with his eyes, and his lips painted at beautiful smile on his face. He was looking at the view, and he really looks happy.
Within a split second, Tae leaned forward and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
Jungkook was surprised, but Tae was even surprised.
“I-I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to do that. It just became automatic for me to that when I’m happy or excited and you really looked cute today! I-I’m happy that you’re smiling and I just hope you often—“
Jungkook cut his words — not by words too — but by his lips.
Tae paused at his moment of shock. There was that electrifying feeling that he never felt before, & it tingles his stomach like there are butterflies on it.
Soon after, he found himself responding on the kiss.
Lips on sync, dancing with glory, its wrong but it felt right.
Tae felt like crying. He’s overwhelmed at the pleasure, his thoughts we’re scattered and all he’s thinking of was how their lips moved in chorus like theyve memorized each other.
And it never felt so wonderful.
No one when they’ll stop, or if they would even want to stop.
They parted their lips, leaning onto each other’s forehead while gasping for breathe.
Their heartbeats were ringing through their ears. “C-Captain—“
“It’s just the two of us, so it’s Jungkook.”
Tae felt his heart jump, & w/o any hesitation, he aimed for his lips again.
But at this time, there are no boundaries, no formalities, no hesitations and questions. No rules, no right or wrong.
Just two souls, slowly finding their way into each other’s heart.

Walking along the crowd, these two had finally got tired on riding every rides and trying every games.
Jungkook looked at Tae from behind since he was in front, hastening his steps.
He can’t help but to smile at how quiet he is right now.
“Why are you so quiet?"
Jungkook asked. After what happened in the ferris wheel, their faces were both red and their hearts were beating so loud.
But Tae is redder and looks shy after that. And Jungkook thought its cute.
“H-huh? I’m not.” Tae can’t even look at him in the eye.
“You are. You we’re so loud awhile ago and now you’re suddenly quiet.” He said, hands behind his back while walking.
“Are you still thinking about the k—“ Tae immediately smacked him. “Shut it!” And he saw how red his face is.
Jungkook laughed. He already knew the answer.
Not much far from them, we’re two little kids — probably on their sevens — and they can hear their conversation.
“But Minnie, I’m still hungry.” cried the little guy while sadly eyeing on the small piece of dumpling.
“Me too Tae, but we need to share w/our families!"
The little kid sighed and pouted, “If I we’re richer, I would buy many dumplings!” He exclaimed.
Jungkook was confused on why Tae stopped walking, and he was looking at the two kids from afar.
He quickly took a glance at his face and his eyes we’re glistening.
“U okay?”
Tae got caught off guard and immediately wiped his tears. “Y-Yes. I just remembered s-someone.”
Tae glanced at the eatery beside them and their specialty are dumplings. He quickly ordered.
“Can I have two boxes of dumplings? Regular flavor.”
He waited for his order to be served and once its done, he immediately went to the two kids who’s carefully wrapping up the piece of dumpling.
“Hi!” Tae greeted and the kids were surprised. The other one hid behind his friend.
“Oh, hey I-I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Tae crouched at their level, he placed the two boxes of dumplings in front of them.
“I overheard your conversation about the food, so I thought of buying you some.” He gently said and smiled.
The two kids we’re just looking at him with fear in their eyes.
“S-Sir, we don’t have money.” The other one said.
“Oh, no! You don’t have to pay me. I just really want to help the two of you. So take it, and share it with your families.”
The two kids hesitated at first, but they eventually pulled the boxes and checked it.
Tae felt happy when he saw the kids’ eyes sparkling in happiness when they saw the dumplings.
“Minnie, it looks delicious!” The other one whispered.
“D-Does this have a poison?” The other one asked, and Tae’s mouth flung open.
“P-Poison? No! Why would I do that?”
“T-There are people who gets killed because they ate poison. I don’t like poison.” He said and Tae felt a bit hurt.
He didn’t know how much kids are open to the world, and they knew how cruel it is.
Tae sighed, and thought of an idea. “Is it okay if I take a bite?”
The kids nodded, and he immediately grabbed a dumpling and took a bite on it.
He wanted to prove them that I has no poison. “It’s really delicious! You see? There’s no poison.” He said.
The other kid quickly grabbed a dumpling and took a bite. “Mhm! Its delicious!”
And Tae felt happy when the other also took a bite. “Yes, it is.”
“Now do you believe me?” Tae asked and the kids nodded. “Listen....”
“Not everyone are as bad as you think. There’s still good people in this world. You just need to trust them, but don’t let them fool you.”
He was surprised when the other kid hugged him. “Thank you so much, sir!”
His heart jumped. It feels so wonderful to be hugged by such kids. The other one joined the hugged too, & now he’s happier. “Thank you too, Sir!”
He hugged them back with a big smile on his face.
“What are your names?” They broke the hug.
“My name is Minhyuk!”
“I’m Taehyeol!”
“Oh Taehyeol, we have the same first name. I’m Taehyung.”
They chatted for a bit and the kids had finally went off with their boxes of dumplings.
Tae stood up, his heart was feeling heavy awhile ago because he remembered Jimin.
They we’re like that too. Jimin always used to tell him to share and be generous & all the kindess in the world.
He misses him so much.
But it was a bit lighter now since he knew he helped.
He looked back, only to see Jungkook standing alone — and smiling so fondly at him.
With their eyes meeting, his heart did a thing — and he can’t help but remember the kiss again.
He quickly looked away and panicked a bit when he’s walking towards him.
“That was so nice of you.” Jungkook complimented, and up to now, Tae couldn’t still look at him the eye.
“Thanks.” He said. “Taehyung...”
His heart flipped. It was the first time he called him by his name, and it sounds wonderful.
“Do you trust me?”
Tae paused. Does he trust him? Should he trust him?
For fucks sake — he knew that the moment he met him, he already trusted himself with him. Especially his heart.
“Of course.” Jungkook held his hand and pulled him onto the horse. They mounted it and went on their way.
Tae didn’t ask where they we’re going, he trusts him.
They went onto an unknown road — there are lots of tress so he’s supposing that they’re somewhat in a forest.
Not long after, they finally reached their destination. But it was still vague for Tae.
“Where are we?” He asked. Jungkook just stood silent and held his hand.
He guided him towards a way where a lot of branches we’re blocking. “What are you doing? Isn’t this a dead end—“
With another parting of branches, Tae finally saw nothing but a breathtaking sight.
They we’re above a cliff, and the view was just beyond ethereal.
“Wow.” Tae whispered while exploring his gaze down the land, it was really high — but it was enough to see the beauty under it.
Not city lights, but torches, dancing people, and banderitas.
He saw this before in the ferris wheel, but it was a clearer view here.
“This is so good.” Tae said while smiling at the view. He was scared of heights, but the beauty was distracting him.
Jungkook laid on the ground beside him. “Lay here.” He patted the side beside him.
And Tae did was what he was told.
But the next few wasn’t quite fine. There was silence between them, and its making him deaf.
“Remember that time when I told you that I like you?” Jungkook started, eyes shot up on the stars.
“Yes, you said you’re kidding—“
“I wasn’t.”
Tae literally froze on his place, even his mind stopped working. But he can hear his fucking heartbeat beating through his ears.
He was so silent, but he’s screaming inside.
“I really liked you,” Jungkook said. “But I was confused back then because—“
Tae cut him off.
“—Because a guy shouldn’t be falling for another guy? Is that it?”
Tae felt hurt, but he knew that in this era, his sexuality isn’t acknowledged.
“Well, yes. The feeling was quite new for me.” Jungkook said.
“Are you gay?” Tae asked, and Jungkook’s brows furrowed.
“What’s a gay?” He asked and Tae chuckled. “That’s a sexuality. That means, you only like men and not women.”
Jungkook tried to process information. “How about if you like both genders?”
“Then it’s called bisexual.” Jungkook’s brows met, its all new words for him.
“Which are you?” Jungkook asked. ”I’m gay.” Tae proudly said. All lgbt+ people are valid and should be respected.
“Then I’m gay too.” Tae laughed. “What’s funny?” He doesn’t know either.
Maybe, its how Jungkook said even though he still have no ideas about it.
Tae gasped. “That’s a shooting star!” He pointed at the light passing above.
“It’s a meteorite, but people call it shooting star.” Jungkook chuckled, “What’s your wish?”
Tae paused on the question. He has so many wishes.
Gucci bags, branded clothes, expensive jewelries, and to be a successful fashion designer.
But there are no such things like that here, and he don’t want them anymore.
Because he had one wish.
“I wish for you to live longer...and stay with me.”
Tae gulped because he’s feeling the lump in his throat again. He don’t wanna cry, not for now.
“You? What’s ur wish?” He asked & looked at him, only to see that he’s looking at him too.
“I wish for your wish to come true.” Tae broke into a smile, but his heart was aching.
If only Jungkook knew what the future has for him. If only Jungkook knew his fate. If only he does...
Its making Tae frustrated just thinking about it, and he doesn’t want to be because he knew he can do nothing.
Instead, he admired the beauty of the night.
For Jungkook, this was the most beautiful view for him back them. He used to go up here too, and watch his people live in peace.
The most wonderful environment they say, is when the king worries for its people, and the people doesn’t worry for the king.
But right now, seeing Taehyung with a smile on his face — and that he’s with him and all safe...
Its the most beautiful view for him.
And that’s the view he’d choose over anything else.

“Captain is there, captain is there!” The soldiers immediately fixed their poise.
Jungkook is a strict one, they find him very intimidating but a good model to them. They knew how mad he can get so they try not to bring that side of him.
“Good morning, Captain!”
Jungkook nodded, acknowledging them. They were used to him doing that, he never greets them.
But today is a different one. “Good morning, are you all doing well in your trainings?”
The soldiers were frozen. They’re speechless. Did they hear it right? He greeted them back?
“S-Sir, yes sir!” They saluted and Jungkook nodded. He left with a big smile on his face.
“H-hey, i-is that really Captain?”
“I don’t know either, did he just greet us and smiled?”
“I think he’s possessed.”
The soldiers whispered, it was a new encounter to them.
Jungkook went to the other side of the field to see SOMEONE.
Its been a month and a week, just a few more days and the training is over.
He saw Tae having a sparring practice with some of his teammates. He has improved in the past few weeks.
Its finally their water break. Jungkook had just finished his inspection in the other camp and now he has nothing to do but supervise the trainees.
Tae still hasn’t noticed his presence. He’s busy wiping his sweat and drinking water.
“You’re good at sparring.”
Tae flinched when Jungkook went towards him. He immediately fixed himself because he knew he looked like shit.
“Me? No.” Tae said and fixed his hair. “Since when did you learn to fix your hair?”
Tae raised a brow. “What? Is it bad that I wanted to look good?”
“If its for me then you don’t have to. You’re already gorgeous.” Jungkook commented & Tae immediately looked away.
He’s flustered again.
“Times up! Gather back around.” The trainer exclaimed and the soldiers went back.
Jungkook came to the trainer and whispered something.
The trainer announced something after that. “Okay everyone, let’s have another set of sparring. But this time, Captain Jeon is your match.”
The soldiers made a fuss. They were quite nervous since they knew how Captain was good at this.
“Who wants to go first?”
“I’ll go!” Bogum raised his hand and the other soldiers were now admiring him for his courage.
Jungkook did not show any emotions. He was gonna choose Tae but he had no choice now.
“This is just a friendly match to test your skills! No hard feelings!”
The others were on the side, while Jungkook and Bogum were in the center.
Tae felt a bit nervous and doesn’t know if he should be. Jungkook is obviously jealous over Bogum, and that made Tae worried.
“I just hope they won’t do anything serious.”
The match started. It was all twist and turns. It was also getting a bit tensed.
Bogum got an advantage, with a quick grab in the arm — he immediately took Jungkook down.
The crowd were surprised and started cheering for them.
But the match isn’t over yet.
Jungkook stoop up and took of his top since its getting sweaty.
The crowd went louder and Tae can’t help but to feel his heart beating faster again.

“Do you like Taehyung?” Jungkook asked out of nowhere.
Only the two of them can hear their conversation.
The match started again, it was all grabbing and twisting. It looked painful but for Jungkook — ha, its just nothing.
He’s been fighting for years, whats to be in pain now?
Bogum locked him in the neck. “Well do you?”
Jungkook quickly got to escape his grip and now, they exchanged positions.
He’s now the one arm-locking Bogum. It was surprising since he was fast.
“Since when did a question became an answer?”
Bogum chuckled. “Just now.”
Bogum didn’t care if he’s already talking to him informally, its just a friendly match with a “friendly” talk — is it?
“What if I do like him?” Bogum grabbed his arm and twisted it.
Jungkook felt a bit of pain since its an attack on the nerves, but he’s quick and smart.
“Sorry to blow it off but I don’t think you have any chance now.”
He used Bogum’s gripped & pulled him upwards. But he had nice reflexes and landed on the ground good.
He dared to give him a high-kick but Jungkook was quick and grabbed his leg and threw him on the ground.
“Times up!” The trainer said and both were panting for breathe. The crowd gave an applause.
Jungkook extended his arm to Bogum. “Nice match, Captain.” Bogum said and stood up.
They proceeded onto the next set of training but instead, Tae came to Jungkook.
“Are you okay?” Jungkook was wiping his hair since it was wet. He immediately smiled when Tae came.
“Yeah, I’m used to those.” He said and Tae nodded. “You’re so hot.”
Tae’s eyes widend. Did he just say his thoughts out loud? Well fuck.
Jungkook laughed. “I know.”
“Go to your training now, they’re starting already.” Jungkook ordered but Tae just pouted.
“My body is sore. Can I just do it tomorrow?” He cried. “You can’t, love. You’re a future soldier.”
Tae paused, but his heart was beating so hard. “Did you just call me love?”
Jungkook shrugged. “Is it bad? I thought we’re together?” He asked.
Tae heaved a breathe and he can’t control his smile. Does Jungkook not know that he’s so flustered? God, he just wanted to kiss him again.
“No, love.” They both laughed when Tae said that.

They both turned their heads behind them when they heard a feminine voice.
It was a very unfamiliar face for Tae, but for Jungkook, it isn’t.
The crowd were staring, the woman was beautiful and they’re wondering who she is.
“I-I’m sorry to meddle in, but can I excuse Jungkook for awhile?” She asked politely, she really looks angelic.
“Lisa, this is Taehyung...T-Taehyung, this is Lisa...”
He didn’t want to say it, but the crowd was listening and its making it hard for him.
“My fiancée.”
Tae kept the smile on his face, but his heart fell on the ground with a shuttering noise.
It hurts so fucking much.
“Nice to meet you, Lisa.” They shook hands, and Tae questioned himself.
Is he just a toy for him?
“If you won’t mind, can I talk to him for awhile?”
Tae nodded with a smile. “Sure! He’s your fiancée after all.” He said and turned his back to leave.
Jungkook was about to call him but it’ll be suspicious. He felt so stupid, but he had no choice for now.
