1 week later, at Andrea's house :

Andrea : You need to start looking.

Jen : Really? I mean we've got 2 months...

Andrea : 1 month and 2 weeks actually.

Jen : Mhm.

Jen clears her throat, looking down on her feet.

Andrea : It's better to be prepared and have it ready early than stressing about it last minute.

Jen : I guess you're right.

Andrea : I mean after all... the dress is the most important thing about the wedding.

Jen : What?

Turning her stare back to Andrea, Jen raises her brow.

Andrea : Well, besides the celebration of love and whatever.

Jen : Mhm.

Jen laughs, before grabbing her water bottle.

Andrea : Listen, I'll make a few calls and I'll have some sent over to you by the end of the week.

Jen : What?

Andrea : Don't worry, I know your taste.

Jen : But...

Andrea : Jen, I've got this.

Jen takes a deep breath as she's starting to feel pretty overwhelmed.

Andrea : What is up with you?

Noticing her sudden shift in behavior, Andrea lays a hand on her thigh.

Jen : Nothing, nothing...

Andrea : Jen, c'mon... talk to me.

Jen : Well...

Jen clears her throat, before sighing.

Jen : It just suddenly hit me how soon this is all really happening.

Andrea : What do you mean?

Andrea raises her brow as Jen takes a deep breath.

Jen : Nothing, I'm just a little overwhelmed, that's all.

Andrea : We could wait with the fitting if you'd like, I mean...

Jen : No, no. You're right, it's better to be prepared.

Andrea : Are you sure?

Jen : Yeah... I'll be fine.

Jen gives Andrea a fake smile, before taking yet another deep breath.

At Jen and Brad's house, that evening :

Jen : I'm relieved most of the press is already over with.

Brad : Yeah? So it's pre-shot?

Jen : Most of it. I'll still have to do some after...

Brad : After the wedding?

Jen : Yeah.

Brad smiles at her as Jen looks away.

Jen : But most of it is already shot, yeah.

Brad : Hey, while we're on the subject of the wedding...

Jen : Mhm.

Jen sighs, before bending down to Clyde.

Brad : I was thinking we could start making the guest list.

Jen : The guest list?

Brad : Yeah, figure out who to invite and get started on the invitations and...

Jen bites her lip while looking up at him.

Jen : Isn't that a little soon?

Brad : Soon?

He laughs, grabbing his phone.

Brad : I'd say it's a bit late.

Jen : What?

Brad : I mean, we're getting married in what? Like a month?

Jen : Well, a month and 2 weeks.

Brad : Yeah, but still...

Jen nods, taking a deep breath in.

Brad : Are you busy or something, is that why you wanna wait?

Jen : What? No, I'm not that busy...

Brad : Good...

Jen : Mhm.

He bends down, kissing the side of her head.

Brad : We can get started tomorrow then.

Jen : Wait, actually...

Brad : Hm?

Jen : I'm supposed to meet up with Court tomorrow.

Brad : Oh?

Jen stands up, resting her hand on her hip.

Brad : Well, it's not gonna take the whole day is it?

Jen : Uhm...

Brad : We'll just do it the day after then.

Jen : Mhm.

The next morning :

Brad : Jen!

Jen, who's got a few wedding dresses splayed out in front of her on the floor, jumps back as she hears Brad rush down the stairs.

Jen : Wait... don't come in here yet!

Brad : What... why?

In hurry to get them all out of sight and safely in their bags again, she yells.

Jen : Just... just listen to me for once!

Brad : Ok...

Brad laughs before heading over to the kitchen while waiting for a clear signal.

Brad : Are you on your period or something?

Jen : Brad...

Jen sighs, while zipping up the last bag.

Brad : Menopause?

Jen : Oh my god.

Shaking her head, she laughs as he jokes.

Jen : Ok, you can come in now!

Brad : And you won't yell this time?

Jen : No, I won't yell...

Brad walks in smiling, with a sandwich in his hand.

Brad : What were you doing?

Jen : Well...

He walks up to her, wrapping his free arm around her waist.

Jen : I was... looking at some potential wedding dresses.

Brad : Oh, really?

Jen : Yeah.

Brad : Can I see?

Jen : No...

Jen looks up at him, furrowing her brows.

Brad : Oh c'mon.

Jen : Honey, you know that's bad luck...

Brad : You're sure that applies to the second wedding too?

Jen rolls her eyes at him as he pulls her closer.

Jen : I don't know, Brad... but you're not gonna get to see it.

Brad : Fine...

He plants a kiss on her lips, before letting go of her.

Brad : I'll just go take a look at your last one then.

Jen : What?

Jen furrows her brow, laughing.

Brad : Yeah.

Jen : How do you know where that is?

Brad : I found it a few months ago... in the cellar.

Jen : You did not...

Brad : I did.

He begins walking towards the door leading downstairs as Jen widens her eyes.

Jen : You're not seriously gonna pull that out from there, are you?

Brad : Oh, yes I am.

Not having seen the dress in about 20 years, nervousness fills her body as she follows him.

Jen : Brad...

He rushes down the stairs as Jen shakes her head.

Jen : C'mon, do we really have to...

Brad : I think it was back here.

Not knowing why she's feeling this way, she takes a deep breath while watching him try to dig it out from the mess.

Jen : Brad, you don't have to...

Is she afraid the memories from that day will come flooding back?

Brad : No, I wanna see it.

The memories from the day they got married...

Brad : Here!

Or the memories from the day she was going to get rid of it, but couldn't get herself to...

Brad : I'm so glad you didn't throw this away.

Brad pulls the bag out from a box, holding it proudly in his hand.

Jen : Mhm...

He unzips it, as Jen covers her mouth with her hand.

Brad : Look... it looks just as good as the day you wore...

Jen : I can't... I can't do this.

Jen suddenly turns around, rushing back up the stairs, leaving Brad puzzled, still holding the dress in his hand.

10 minutes later :

Brad : Jen!

Brad rushes into the living room, looking for his fiancé.

Brad : Jen, we really need to talk about...

He quickly noticed her shadow out on the patio, where she usually goes to think.

Brad : Honey...

Jen turns around to face Brad, who's standing leaned against the doorway with a concerned look on his face.

Jen : Hi.

Brad : What the hell happened down there?

He walks up to her, wrapping his arm around her waist as she sighs.

Jen : Oh...

Brad : Did I do something?

Jen : No, no...

She lays a hand on his chest, looking up at him.

Jen : You did nothing wrong, honey.

Brad : Then what? Talk to me.

Jen : It's the dress.

Brad : The wedding dress?

Jen : I haven't seen that thing in... what? 15 years... and when you...

Getting interrupted by the sound of Brad's phone, Jen stops talking as she sighs.

Brad : Hold on...

He checks the number before looking back up at her.

Brad : I gotta take this?

Jen : What?

Brad : They're calling from Flora Farms.

Jen : Brad...

He begins moving towards the living room while Jen shakes her head.

Brad : I'll be right back.

At Courteney's the next day :

Jen : This pasta is amazing...

Courteney : Right?

Jen : You shouldn't have put this in front of me, I'm literally gonna eat all of it.

Court laughs, before sitting down herself.

Courteney : Well, you do have a wedding to prepare for soon...

Jen turns her head, raising her brow.

Courteney : I'm kidding.

Jen : Mhm.

Courteney : How's the dress hunting going though?

Jen takes a sip of water, before sighing.

Courteney : Not so good?

Jen : Well... no.

Courteney : Are you having a hard time finding one?

Jen : Not exactly...

Courteney : I can help too, you know. I've got a whole catalog with...

Jen : Can we just talk about anything else but the fucking dress for one second?!

Jen drops her fork as Courteney widens her eyes.

Courteney : Yeah.. yeah.

She takes a deep breath, while calming herself down before turning to her friend again.

Jen : I'm sorry, I just...

Courteney can tell something's up by the way she's choking on her words.

Jen : I just feel so...

Courteney : Hey, it's ok.

Laying a reassuring hand on her arm, Courteney gives her a quiet nod.

Jen : So overwhelmed.

Courteney : By the wedding?

Jen : Yeah, by the wedding, the dress, the fucking guest list...

Courteney: Mhm.

Jen : Everything.

Jen throws her hands in the air, taking a deep breath.

Courteney : Have you talked to Brad about this?

Jen : Uhm...

Courteney : Told him how you feel.

Jen : I tried, but then he got a call... from our fucking wedding planner actually, and...

Courteney : Oh, come here...

Courteney scoots closer, wrapping her arms around her best friend.

Jen : I didn't bother to bring it up again.

Jen lets her head fall down on Court's shoulder, sighing.

Jen : He seems to be so caught up in this fucking wedding that he doesn't even care how I feel about it.

Courteney : Oh, he cares. He's probably just excited.

Jen : I know, I know.

Courteney : You have to talk to him again, Jen.

Jen : Mhm.

Courteney: Before this blows out of proportion and you just wind up having a breakdown.

Jen : Do you really think it's that bad?

Courteney : I don't know... but judging by how many times you've said the word fuck during this lunch...

Jen laughs, nodding.

Courteney : I'd say you seem pretty on the verge.

In the living room, the next day :

Jen : Hey, honey.

Brad : Hi, where have you been?

Jen : I took the dogs on a walk.

Brad : Oh...

Jen throws a bone to Clyde, before walking over to Brad, wanting to talk to him.

Jen : Hey...

Brad : Hm?

Jen : I kind of need to talk to you.

Brad : Oh, can't it wait till we get the guest list out of the way?

Jen : The guest list?

Jen sighs, crossing her arms.

Brad : Yeah, we were gonna do it today, weren't we?

Jen : I guess, but...

Brad : I've already thought of so many people I don't want to forget.

Brad smiles at her as she looks over at the pens and notes he's put on the table.

Jen : Fine.

Later :

Brad looks over at Jen's list while finishing his own, raising his brow.

Brad : Jen...

Jen : Yeah?

She looks up at him as he laughs.

Brad : You're telling me you want this to be "small and intimate" with a list like that?

Jen looks down on her piece of paper and then at Brad's, before sighing.

Brad : How many do you have on there? Every person living in LA?

Jen : I might have gotten a little too excited...

Brad : I can tell.

He takes it from her, scanning the names.

Brad : I mean this must be pretty much every single person you've met through your life.

Jen : How many do you have on yours then?

Jen grabs his list, which only consists of one front page, compared to her which consists of 3.

With names written down both front and back.

Jen : Wow... I guess this proves I really do have more friends than you.

Brad : Well, I don't know about that...

Brad laughs, before pointing to one of the names.

Brad : Barbra Streisand?

Jen : What?

Brad : You really consider her to be one of your closest friends?

Jen : Well, maybe not my closest...

Brad : How many times have you met her, Jen?

Jen : Twice, actually...

Brad : Right.

He laughs as she sighs.

Brad : Do you refer to her as Barbra?

Jen : No...

Brad : See, then you're not friends.

Jen scolds at him before clearing her throat.

Jen : Ugh, will you just shut up so we can start narrowing these things down.

Brad : Yeah, I mean it seems to me your list really needs it.

Half an hour later :

Brad : Well, I've got my parents.

Jen : Naturally.

Brad : And then... the girls, my nieces.

Jen : Yeah?

Brad : I'm not sure about them though.

Jen : We'll put them on the "maybe" list.

Brad : And then Alia...

Jen looks up at him, with her glasses resting on the bridge of her nose.

Jen : Alia?

Brad : Yeah?

Jen : So you two are really good friends, huh?

Brad : Well, yeah...

Jen : That's nice.

Brad : Jen...

Jen : What?

Brad : Don't make a big deal out of this.

Jen : Wha... I wasn't planning on doing that.

Brad : Mhm.

Jen : I think it's lovely that you have a bunch of female friends...

Brad laughs at her before clearing his throat.

Jen : Just lovely.

Brad : Hey, Jen...

Jen : Mhm.

Brad : I love you.

Jen : Ugh...

Jen lifts her stare, pressing her lips together.

Jen : I love you too.

Another half an hour later :

Brad : I think that was everyone on mine...

Jen : Ok, we'll proceed to my list.

Brad : This will probably take a while.

Jen rolls her eyes as he sighs.

Jen : Well, obviously there are the girls.

Brad : Of course.

Jen : And Chris, but he's part of the glam team so I don't really think he should be considered as one of my guests.

Brad : What...

Jen : Hm?

Brad : So just because you have a glam team, you get to have more people there.

Jen : Well... you're welcome to have a glam team too if you'd like, Brad.

Brad sighs, shaking his head.

Jen : And then... John.

Brad : Your dad, of course.

Jen : Well, yes... but I'm not talking about him.

Brad : What? Then who is...

Brad stops himself as he quickly realizes who she's talking about.

Brad : John Mayer?

Jen : Mhm.

Brad : Why? Why... why?

He stares at her with a confused look on his face, awaiting an answer.

Jen : Well, I was thinking maybe we could get him to  sing.

Brad : To sing?!

Jen : Yeah...

Brad : Why would you have your ex sing at our wedding?

Jen : Brad...

Jen sighs as Brad shakes his head.

Jen : He's a good singer, Brad... I mean you've said so yourself.

Brad : Have I?

Jen : Yes... and I really like his songs.

Brad clears his throat, before speaking again.

Brad : So John is gonna show up at our wedding and start singing what? "Your body is a wonderland"...

Jen : Well...

Brad : A song that probably was written about you.

Jen : It wasn't written about me, those songs came later on.

Brad : So there are songs?!

Jen : Brad... that's beside the point.

Jen lays a hand on his arm, taking a deep breath.

Jen : Why are you getting so worked up about this?

Brad : Because it's... weird.

Jen : Why?

Brad : Because you used to date.

Jen : And?

Jen raises her brow

Jen : You're literally remarrying a woman you divorced 16 years ago and you're calling this weird?

Brad : Well...

Jen : Listen, like you told me... I don't want you to be making a big deal out of this.

Brad : Wha...

Jen : Let's proceed.

Yet another half an hour later :

Jen : We've got 68...

Brad : Mhm.

Jen : That's too many.

Brad : Jen, come on.

Jen : Brad, I told you I don't want a big wedding.

Brad : I know, but...

Jen : No, I just want it small and intimate.

Brad sighs, taking off his glasses.

Brad : Well, that decision is not entirely up to you to make now, is it?

Jen : Excuse me?

Brad : It's my wedding too, you know.

Jen stares at him, raising her brow.

Brad : If you want to get rid of someone that badly, you could start by scratching your exes.

Jen : What?

Brad : John.

Jen : Oh my god...

Jen stands up, covering her face with her hands while grunting.

Jen : I can't believe you're still on about that.

Brad : Well...

Jen : He's my friend, Brad! So what if we used to "fuck"...

Brad shakes his head, sighing.

Jen : I mean grow up!

Brad : Fine, if you wanna have him there so badly, go ahead.

Jen lays her head in her hands, not wanting to answe him.

Brad : Who are we getting rid of then?

Jen : I don't know, Brad!

Brad : Hey, I'm not the one who's going on about this.

Jen : Well, you were the one nagging about getting this list done!

Brad : What?

Jen sighs, crossing her arms.

Brad : I've been nagging about getting the guest list done, yeah... because we're getting married in a month!

Jen : I know that now, Brad! I know that it's in a month!

Brad takes a step closer, sensing that something isn't right.

Brad : Hey... what is up with you?

Jen : Nothing!

Brad : Jen...

Jen : I just need some time, alright?

Brad : Jen, wouldn't it be better to sort this out now?

He looks at her as she bites her lip.

Jen : Brad.

Brad : We don't exactly have that much time, Jen!

Jen : Yeah, well maybe we should call it off then! That'll give us some time.

Jen shouts at him, while looking into his confused eyes.

Brad : What?

He takes a step back again, shaking his head.

Brad : Call of the wedding?

Jen : Yes...

Brad : Wow.

Jen : Or no... or I don't know.

Brad : Is that really what you want?

Jen : Brad...

Jen shakes her head, covering her face.

Brad : You don't want to marry me?

Jen : What?

Jen shakes her head as he starts walking in circles.

Brad : You don't want to marry me...

Jen : Of course I want to marry you, Brad... I just...

Brad : No, say no more.

He grabs his keys on the table, before turning around.

Brad : I've got it... loud and clear.

Brad rushes out to the hallway, while Jen's left standing in the middle of the room, feeling worse than ever before.
